I heard he was gonna add in a bunch of CGI ships and stuff... J/K... THX1138 is a dorm-room classic for me. Sorta like The Wall and Fantasia. Illegal substances were quite often involved. But it's cool without 'em too.

At best, yes. At worst, something closer to Once Upon A Time in Mexico or Four Rooms. Stilted and uneven. Rodriguez can be fantastic but his last few sequel-tastic efforts, OUATIM and Spy Kids 3d weren't that great. I think sequels aren't really his strongest suit - but these are also plots he came up with himself and it shows. Sin City's already there... just waiting to be kickass. I'm hoping that Sin City is enough of a breath of fresh air and Miller's involvement will keep him sticking to the source material.

I'm used to it. After waiting eons for good HBO shows to come back on, I'm cool with waiting longer than a summer. Hell, it took the Sopranos almost 2 years to come back after season 2. Speaking of which... when does The Wire come back on? That show is more awesome than 24 ever dreamed of being.

Not kidding a bit. And I'm well chilled out, actually. I understand you were joking around... I just think your comment could have easily been taken the wrong way. That sort of thing can be taken seriously by people who aren't necessarily "in on the joke". I don't like alot of individual's work, but I also think it's irresponsible to post anything even resembling an actual threat, etc... ya dig? There's tons of stuff that I think is funny, but that don't necessarily appear funny on an internet message board. This would be one of those things.

I voted for the Hovertank since it definitely looked the most bland. However, I would like to add a vote for you to design (or retrofit) one of your designs as a space version of a pleasure barge. Add some shuffleboard, a Leto deck, an Aculpulco deck, and set a course... for love.

Saw it last night... easily as much fun as the original. Puss N' Boots rules and I normally hate all cats, animated or real. The skewering of LA culture was also dead on... I loved it when Mongo destroyed the Farbucks and all of the people ran across the street to the other Farbucks. I probably could have done without the completely unnecessary Livin' La Vida Loca at the end, however. But all in all, lots of fun. Why is Eddie Murphy funnier as Donkey than he has been in anything since Coming To America?

Saw the trailer last night at Shrek 2... looks to be pretty awesome. Not only is it a Pixar film, which means it'll be good - it's also the first animated film by Brad Bird since The Iron Giant - which is easily my favorite American animation film in the last 20 years.

I'm just going to pretend I never read that... Really... dude, it's the Macross...

Which toy have you own or know as being the most

Heh... totally agree on Ramhorn. It doesn't help much that the little bastard doesn't really resemble an arm or a bug or anything. For old skool - my vote definitely goes to the Mospeada large Ride Armor... but it's complicated because it's genious. -
Well, as far as the main characters in the movie... it's hard to say at this point. It definitely looks to be more of an ensemble piece. The graphic novels break it down like this - Sin City (the original series) - Marv - Mickey Rourke Goldie - Jamie King Lucille - Carla Gugino Kevin - Elijah Wood Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Dwight - Josh Hartnett Ava - Maria Bello? Gail - Kate Bosworth Sin City: Big Fat Kill Dwight - Josh Hartnett Shellie - Brittany Murphy Sin City: That Yellow Bastard Hartigan - Bruce Willis Nancy - Jessica Alba That Yellow Bastard - Nick Stahl There's another graphic novel called To Hell and Back, but I haven't seen any indication of characters from that story in the movie. Plus there's tons of one shot stories, like The Babe Wore Red, that has Dwight and a character named Mary, that supposedly Marley Shelton will be playing... Honestly, I think you'll probably see an awful lot of Willis, Hartnett, and Rourke... not so sure about anyone else. It's definitely noir fiction - which focuses on the male protaganists - the women are either there to be saved or to ruin a guy's life. Or both. There's a big breakdown of all the characters in the series - here. But be warned that it's full of SPOILERS about what happens to all of them.

Well, basically Sin City the Movie looks to be made up of 3 different graphic novels (and probably a few 1 shots)... like the comics, the stories overlap, but aren't really related. You might see one main character run into another one in the bar, for example. According to most sources, Rodriguez really wants Tarantino to direct one of the segments, sorta like they did back with Four Rooms. QT would be a really great fit. Honestly, I think I'll dig this movie even if Alba dressed in a burkha. I just wouldn't really love it.

I don't see it as that bad at all. For a small, fun toy - I think it rocks. All of the design compomises made on the 1/100 will just make a bigger one that much better, if they ever make one.

No, I know it ain't serious... but it makes Macrossworld look pretty creepy/scary and that isn't very funny, y'know?

Okay, I've gone on and on about Sin City by Frank Miller being the coolest comic I've ever gotten my hands on. Now Robert Rodriguez is making a movie using 3 separate Sin City Graphic Novels as one huge flick. He's even got Frank Miller the creator signed up as co-director. The cast... so far - Bruce Willis, Josh Hartnett, Mickey Rourke, Nick Stahl, Jessica Alba, Elijah Wood, Carla Gugino, Jaime King, Marley Shelton, Brittany Murphy, Benecio Del Toro, and Clive Owen. Not a bad lineup... some of them aren't my favorites, but some are. I was totally ecstatic and then I saw this clip - ET preview of Sin City filming and now I'm freakin nuts to see this. Two cool things about this clip - 1. Green screen means Rodriguez has got a pretty cool effects in mind to emulate Frank Miller's stark black and white imagery in the comic 2. Jessica Alba. Wow. As a cowgirl stripper. Best. Casting. Evar. Do yourselves a favor and go buy some Sin City graphic novels, even if this movie ends up sucking, the comic still rules.

It would be cooler if we could hang people in town square... that always sets an example. -
Classy! It's really good thing to post pictures and threaten death on a guy who made an anime you didn't enjoy... Dong.

Awesome. Now print it on a DVD with a great video source, sell it, and then I'll be even more thrilled.

SW Episode III: Birth of the Empire

That's obviously photoshopped. I posted that pic in the SW DVD thread yesterday and from what I've seen, insiders are saying it's legit. And speaking of things that make you go "huh?" check out THIS page. Wookies rule. Big man in a hairy suit with limited vocal expression = box office gold. You can keep General Grevious. I'd much rather have a Wookie Sith. -
Star Wars OT on DVD - Official - Sept 21st
Blaine23 replied to Blaine23's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The first part is dead right. The second part is dead wrong. Do his jackbooted thugs (ex Federal agents fired for brutality, probably) gonna come over and force you to buy the new release? Y'know what? Despite my grousing about the lack of a release for the Original Versions of the films on DVD, I actually agree with you somewhat. It IS Lucas' choice and it's not a democracy as to how the films do and don't get rereleased. And no, no one is coming to my house and forcing me to buy anything Star Wars, thank god. I buy enough crap without anyone's help. So let's be clear - I don't deny the guy his right to continually cheapen his films - I just disagree with the mentality behind it. That's my opinion. I think that there a certain "f-you" attitude to movie-goers in general in this strategy of theirs. The original versions stood on their own for decades. People saw them, loved them, etc. Now Lucas continues to "touch them up" every chance he gets. He's not even satisfied with the crap CGI he added 12 years ago and now he's shoehorning in more out of place technology. And all because "this is now the movie I wanted to make." If he finally got it to look the way he wanted it, why does he keep changing it? Look at that list of alternate crap... dude, just pick one and stick with it! I just get the feeling that as soon as someone figures out how to make a realistic CGI urine streams, wacky George is gonna go add a scene of Yoda peeing on Luke and then going, "I was wrong, THIS is the movie I wanted to make! Digital Watersports! Yeah!" If he wants to screw with his movies, fine by me. But I think most film fans in general would prefer it if he just released the original stuff and let Star Wars obsessive fan boys buy each "new version" he trumpets. Then I could go back to my cave and watch it without groaning or using the dusty VHS player. That's all I want. Just a good release - hell, no extras, even - of the movies I saw in the theater as a kid. Isn't it weird to have to ask for that? -
After two scant appearance, Naked Mandy is kinda t0 24 like Boba Fett was to Star Wars before RotJ. Once he started talking and had plotlines, he got lame real fast. I think Naked Mandy should just pop in occasionally, kill somebody, disrobe, and head off screen. Come to think of it, that wouldn't be a bad idea for Kim, either.

You could get a big old continuity based answer... But it's probably because with the movie animation they wanted a newer, more detailed design because they could afford better animation, etc. Same reason there's different valks in DYRL as well... because that's what movie versions are all about.

Lava Surfing! EXTREME! AWESOME! -
Yamato called me and said now that you're finally ready... They still don't have one planned at this time. Funny thing is, I didn't really get the impression that they cared how you felt. Heartless bastards.

Wow that looks fun and dangerous. I dig it! Now let's skip to the 700 obligatory comments about the girl in the first pic.
