Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, I agree. I'm a little unsure about it in battroid. The fact that it looks like the wings don't collapse in, may make it look a bit back heavy. If I keep mine, I'll display it forever in fighter, but that's away off. -
Those kits are awesome. It'd be cool if they released them all as kits. I'm sure many would buy them. As for the MtR book II, I will be all over that when it comes out. Mecha porn at its finest.

If they want to speculate about it, I really don't care. That's about all they have, is hopes and dreams, and little inexpensive toys that come out maybe twice a year. It seems as though the "official report" of the tie-in of EDF to Robotech from the mods is now going to be downgraded (as we all knew) to just speculation. That's where the problems come for them, and where they get pointed out as idiots. How many times has the speculation been promoted as facts? I remember when Frontier was being made, we were all speculating off of a short synopsis that was provided by, I think, Satelite. It's been how many years, and the same people are still trying just trying to speculate if the Robotech Live action will even get made. On top of that, they've gone as far as to speculate about completely separate entities being Robotech. Don't know how many of you remember, but they even speculated that Battle Los Angeles was supposed to be Robotech. While there is this thing called legitimate speculation that they've thrown out the window, again I ask, how many times have they gone beyond just speculation? How many times have they "fired blanks" as fact, when it was just fabricated and wrong info? I can recall several.

Nice, and thanks for the pics, Reivaj. It is looking better. -
Finally selling my 0S. It's been sitting in the closet in the box for long enough. Time to part with it.

Roll for man damage, 1D20, RIGHT NOW!!! I understand things being changed or altered due to rights. The release of Zeta Gundam is a prime example of having the original opening song completely gone, and replaced with BGM. However, with HG's case, they did it for, I guess, no other reason than Tommy's preference. Afterall, we are still under the impression that they could use the original footage, unless using that footage with "new(er)" footage was questionable by HG legal. I like how you also wrote this: Mainly the DVD and blu-ray portion. HG was too cheap to even do that. Yeah, next time some rabid, delusional Robotech fan talks of "cutting edge" refer them to the writing in bold there, and the lack HG has with that.As for the excuse Tommy gives as to why they don't have that, he says something about the fact that the masters aren't good enough, or something to that effect. A friend of mine, Tom's, and several of us, worked in archives at HG (not in the Robotech dept.), and from his experience and first hand account, it could've been done. So, I guess that means they were just too cheap for all you hard core RT fans out there. No matter, their DVD is "cutting edge", just like pushing record/play at the same time on a cassette deck to record your favorite radio tunes, surfing the world wide web on your 28k modem, and walking around with stone washed jeans and a fanny pack.

Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
Jasonc replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
First off, let me start off with a big...BRAVO!!! Got this about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and after watching it several times, I'm always blown away when watching it. This second part takes a different turn for the ending of the series, and is a joy to watch. The box art of the Blu-Ray is nice, and came with several small books of art from the movie. While I don't understand Japanese, the pacing and the scenes are pretty easy to define what is happening, and while I'd like to know exactly what they were saying, you can get the gist of the story without. As far as quality of the animation and such, WOW!!! My wife saw it with me, and we were both excited to see it. It is "cutting edge" animation, and I can't think of too many anime features that even come close. The pacing of the movie is much better than the first movie, and there are some great nods to other Macross series as well, such as plus, 7, etc. If you haven't watched it, I definitely recommend it. I know all this has probably been said already, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents, just to say I got mine. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Jasonc replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The day they officially announce a VF-4 and/or the VF-2SS, I'm getting two each. I already have a toy savings account, so I won't buy anything after they announce those (fingers crossed). -
Good, cause then I'll know that he's lying. I just checked, and low and behold...the same boxes still sitting there, minus 1.

Hahaha, yeah, just because of the Sentinels. Why they decided to do it is beyond me, but maybe they're just trying to, at least on the exterior, not use the Macross designs??? You gotta wonder though, does that make it incomplete as a "remaster", or does that even count as a remaster, if it's missing stuff from the original? While I'll never buy it, it's odd that they'd advertise it as a remaster, yet cut it even shorter.

I certainly don't have the figures, but from what I've gathered, the Legacy set sold extremely well, then the remastered sold like crap. Then the Protoculture collection did better. The thing I've heard from people who bought the new A&E set, is that it's pretty much the Protoculture Collection with more extras, so whoever ha that, it's not worth getting the new set, unless you need to see the extras. Also in the Sentinels ceanup, they got rid of all the Macross footage that was contained in it, so it's missing that, and the Robotech Untold story only has the Southern Cross footage because HG simply doesn't have the rights to Megazone 23. I've been looking into it, so hopefully I get an answer soon as far as sales. Personally, I have seen the A&E set sitting on shelves at my local one-stop shops. Don't know if they just aren't selling, or if they're quickly restocking, but the dust on the one I saw would indicate they're sitting. I put a piece of paper in between the fisrt one and the second a month ago, so when I go on saturday, if it's still there, That may answer my question.

The first one looks a lot like a VF-9 at first glance. I really do like what's been done to the other two. Beautiful.
-
The scale seems a bit off with that pic. The house is either really small, made for hobbits, or the Ostrich is made for Zentraedi.
-
It's no secret that I'm not a big fan of the 1/48 scale valks. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, and as all the other toys are in 1/60, I wouldn't get a 1/48 of the t.v. 1S. The line is dead anyways, and it's incomplete. Makes it a very easy decision to say no to it.

Official MacrossWorld Convention 2010 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
I don't think anything coming this year, but perhaps next year sometime. For the 30th anniversary, there's gotta be something coming, even if it's something smaller in scale. I kinda miss the personal touch of the older cons, and people selling their own stuff. -
OK, got a question for you guys. I'm probably gong to sell my VF-0 valks. I have all of them, and looking to sell them. The 0S is the first release, and is in mint condition. I took it out only once and transformed it, then back in the box. I also have the 0A with ghost, and the standalone. All are complete and in perfect condition. If any of you guys know the value of them or the price range, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

The more he talks, the more I realize Maverick_LSC's just stupid, and a complete moron. I don't care about his deluded, wishful thinking of some movie magically turning into Robotech, but his comment about "crickets" coming from his camp is just lame. Final Outpost is something that we've all written off, and as Azrael has said, we don't have grand ideas about something that simply isn't there. Last I checked, we don't need wishful thinking for stuff coming from Macross. Again, a full series, 2 movies, 3 or 4 series of manga, and a toy run that makes Robotech look like a garage factory, is what Macross fans have. That's not even counting the live concerts, cosplay items, model kits, and food items. So, yeah, keep thinking you have something big there with Pacific Rim becoming Robotech. Deluded speculation will never beat cold hard facts, dumbass.

That sucks to know that some of those great titles are being forgotten. Speaking of posters, I just sold one of my DYRL posers for $50. It was about the same that I paid for it 7 years ago, but I bought a bulk of posters, and I happened to get a duplicate.
-
They could also be replicas. I've seen a few replicas of the original posters going for about that same price. Usually, if one digs deep enough, the differences are there, and the originals often go for more than that. Also depends on the popularity of the poster.

It gets very complicated, but the key has always been to simply take each circuit board and follow the circuit in segments. In any case, if you think of it as a water system, it simplifies it. That always helped me.
-
True. I think my only saving grace is a strong mathematics background (have a degree in electriconics engineering) and a background in architecture of electronic circuits. Although I don't work in the field anymore, I've been able to take the math, and all the design aspects, and apply it to the arts, I guess. I'm putting together some more designs, but I want to make sure these designs done meet my standards. If they meet those, I think they'll be ready for reproduction.

Well, look who we're talking about here. Steve and Tommy are pretty paranoid and self-delusional when it comes to Robotech and their ego. You also have morons like juanrt, wdkaiser, etc, who pretend they know the deal, when they aren't even in the vicinity, and the people who give them their info can barely read, write, or talk properly. I'm telling you, and you know this as much as I do...if you get that many dysfunctional people together, strange ideas and theories come together.
