  1. Thanks, I think I have my fingers crossed on this myself. The real help is the many pieces, which make redesigning the pieces a lot easier. No problem. I don't expect anybody to buy one, so this i mainly for myself. I know there are a couple who maybe interested, but I wouldn't blame them if they can't afford, or decide not to get one. I'm thinning the parts out to save some money, but I have no clue how pricey the print out of it will be.
  2. OK, this is probably going to be my most ambitious project I've ever done. But I'm going to attempt to make a tranformable 1/60 VA-3 Invader. Some of you know that I have the S.H.E transformable kit of the VA-3, and know that it is in 1/100 scale. With a list of parts, good caliper, calculator, protractor, and all the other design and drafting materieals, I've begun drafting this in SolidWorks. With a total of 6 parts done so far, I obviously have a lot to go. I thought I'd start this thread to post updates as they are made, and get the community of CAD designers to help in areas I may have questions about. Ambitious, hell yes, but I plan to move at a slow, steady pace to get this done. Comments always welcome. So with that, I present my first screenshot of some leg pieces. P.S. I have no info, nor any intentions of creating this kit,,,,,yet. My goal now, is to get it to look aesthetically pleasing once designed, be able to transform, and improve on the points of articulation from the original kit. But, since I'm sure you guys really want to know a price range, the amount of printed parts and the size is probably going to make this kit somewhere in the range of AT LEAST $400, probably more though. Anyways, off to the design! These are the horizontal tail fins and part of the interior of the legs.
  3. The writer seems a bit out of touch with reality, and what is going on at this point. There's so many people that feel that just because a live action movie can be done of some nostalgic show from their childhood, it simply should be. It's a pretty stupid reason to do something if you ask me. I still don't think it'll get done. I think there are too many things that detract from the good it could do. In any case, the link just seems like a fanboy suggesting what he would do. I don't put any value in that article. If he didn't mention Shadow Chronicles, it could be he doesn't know about it. Now, that's brand recognition.
  4. I think they have or had a free shipping using EMS, but IMO, I think Fedex is faster. I've gotten my stuff as quick as 3 days with Fedex, but usually 4. I'm so tempted to get two more to make an airshow group with the fan racer, but I think I'm just going to get another GBP set.
  5. Interesting...am I correct in assuming that because it's made for military and tactical purposes, it's also a matte finish? For transformable toy customs, this stuff sounds like it'd be ideal, but as long as they have a wide enough range of color. I've been interested in trying out the dye process, and see how that works with Yamato plastic. That's probably the other process that I haven't seen anyone really attempt.
  6. That's a great site. Lots of Lineart.
  7. Must've been one of "those" nights.
  8. See, this, I can put up with, but I still want a poster of the cover, with a good background, and none of the busy wording. From someone who has a lot of Macross posters, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. It is that good, or could be.
  9. The DYRL colors are a bit dark, in my opinion. The yellow maybe alright, the blue looks too dark. The red maybe OK, but not my first choice. As for the strength of the paint, it seems to be specifically made to bond to steel, so I don't know how plastics would hold up against it. Part of the strength of paint is its ability to hold onto the material it is bonding to, not just its own strength after hardening. If it holds just as well on plastic, it maybe a good option. Other things I'd want to know are: Can you mix the colors, is there a version you can use in an airbrush, how thick does it come out, what other type of paint will work with it (enamel, lacquer, acrylic). For me, the biggest question would be the mixing. If you can mix colors, you can get ideal colors you need by making them yourself. Of course, you could always give them a try, and see how they work out, but it looks to be pricey paint. If you do give it a try, please let us know. If it does work, I'd be more than happy to put it on my valk unassembled kits if it truly does hold up that well.
  10. Just found out, late Christmas present. I'm very happy. I wasn't going to get this with the price, but a friend in Japan will be able to get one shipped over at no extra charge.
  11. I wish, it's a very beautiful shot of Sheryl in a uniform similar to the airforce, Minmay in her uniform looking like a hot Navy pin-up girl, and Ranka looks like she's in an army-esque outfit. I absolutely love it.
  12. Ebay maybe your best bet. Monthly publications such as this are very hard to find in stores, and usually, once the new ones come in, the older ones are gone. There doesn't seem to be too much to the first issue, mostly an issue that updates the readers to the story on MtF.
  13. Got my Thunder Focus today. Hmmm, the possibilities.
  14. His story of what happened seems a bit strange. Over zealous to say the least, but those be the ramblings of a mad man. I remember him calling us in the early afternoon, telling me of his plan, and then asking if he should do it. I remember McHenry and the other guy both telling him not to do it. I told him the same thing, and he sounded deflated that we weren't going to back him on it. He wanted to do it at a certain time, but after the quick phone conversation, he sounded like he wasn't going to do it. His reply to the suggestions of not going through with it were, "Alright", and nothing really more after that. However, it did happen, and that was that,
  15. I don't think you read through what I wrote. I never said there as a conspiracy, and it doesn't take one to be a little out of the ordinary. Considering how much the staff claims to support the work and endeavors of the voice actors, and for something that has Robotech DIRECTLY RELATED, that makes it strange. Bare in mind, the artwork on the cover is Tommy Yune art as well, so they gave enough condoning of the book to use their art. I don't think anybody's made it more than it is, but it isn't just "nothing". In any case, it makes HG look kinda bad by not even mentioning it as any form of news. Either they really aren't on top of the news (which I doubt in this case), or they're just lazy. Man, I remember that like it was yesterday. Funny how we got blamed as being part of the incident, when in reality, the few of us were just in the vicinity. Definitely worth a laugh now.
  16. Bad-Effen-@ss!!! Love it.
  17. That's probably the strangest thing about the whole thing. I think it's cool that Frank Catalano wants to put out this book. I'm sure he knows that the title will sell simply due to the fact that it is Robotech, at least somewhat. What is strange, is that HG isn't doing any promoting of it. I thought they supported the voice actors and those that worked on Robotech? Guess not. I wonder if they aren't saying anything because they wanted to get the books for a cheap price to markup at rt.com, or maybe it didn't fit with Tommy's ego, or maybe, just maybe, HG really doesn't care too much about he voice actors like they claim. They haven't treated Michael Bradley too well, I'm sure it's not too hard to do the same to any of the others.
  18. While this book maybe an interesting read, I can almost guarantee this is a "see, Robotech is moving" type of misconception that the mods will claim. If it wasn't mentioned on rt.com, it's most likely that it is because Tommy wasn't involved. I guess rt.com is only good for ego stroking and morons. The rest that are still there, are there to just watch it all.
  19. Thunder Focus was shipped a couple days ago. Should get it on Saturday.
  20. I'm glad they haven't gone to a 1/72, especially after the 1/48, then 1/60. 1/72 is good for model kits, not intricate toys such as these. I think the engineering would have to sacrifice a bit to fragile parts, so keeping it at 1/60 is fine.
  21. It'd be a cool item, but I wouldn't buy one. Not that it wouldn't look great, I'm just not into sectional items like that.
  22. Damn, they just need to cave in, and do the 17 for Ray/Vefidas. Heck, they might as well do the 11 Max-L as well. As over-the-top as the pink is on that one, it'd make the set complete, and I'd buy them both in a heartbeat.
  23. Damnit, missed it. Oh well.
  24. Well, we'll see. I'm not going to jump into something alone, and if it looked like I was going to have to do that, I'd have no problems cancelling it.
  25. How about just giving some white stripe decals or stickers for the one or two that may actually prefer it? (just kidding of course)
