  1. Whether HG did, or didn't use stuff from the Animeigo stuff is kinda irrelevant. The fact is, they royally screwed up on the 5.1 sound they decided to do. It seems the people they got to do the sound, they gave a lot of liberties to, and they took a lot of what people remembered out of it. The jets sound like 747s, not like high pitched performance fighters, the BGS sounds hollow, and like it's coming from a tunnel, and then you got the openings that are completely different. If you were hoping for it to be the same, it's far from it, and for a company that is really trying to sell nostalgia at this point, it's not a good selling point to change what you're selling.
  2. That was actually a good review of the transformation and everything. Just got home about an hour ago, and got to transform it, and play a bit with it. Impressive. As usual, you have to be very careful in some spots as to not scratch the exterior, but overall, not issues. It's a solid toy, and can pose very easily. The gun IS HUGE! Bigger than remember it, but for a large Valkyrie, it seems to fit very well.
  3. Back of the knee outside plate done. This part connects the upper and lower leg together, and sandwiches together in fighter. I will (again) probably redesign the joint pieces to either be made in metal, but I am most likely going to make them into ratcheted joints. For that, I am thinking of the old jetfire ratcheded joints that were in the legs and arms of those toys. They locked in place very well, and were designed for younger kids to play the hell out of them. That said, this kit most likely is going to be made of TASC resin, which is much stronger than the basic resin, metal for the pieces that have high friction and/or need the support, lots of screws to hold in place, springs for friction adding, and the same type of steel pins that are used in the Yamato Valks. The pins will probably be used for things like the cockpit to open and close, as well as smaller moving parts that need a straight guide, such as the tail fins perhaps. Also, I'm going to look into the Wave joints, and see if I can use those in the construction of the feet, for some posable issues that would benefit from them. Anyone's ideas and suggestions are welcome, if you have an idea that would work well. My goal is to make this like the Yamato unassembled Valkyrie kits, except having the majority molded in correct color. Anyways, I just have a couple pieces left of the upper leg that make the inner part, then it's feet and cosmetic parts.
  4. I guess I know where one of my other presents is going towards.
  5. Mine came in, or so I was told. Can't wait to get home from my short vacation to see it.
  6. If they can tell a new story with the same characters in an interesting way, then yes, I'd be interested as well. But to just have a small story of what happens at the end of SDFM, it's just unnecessary. I prefer the idea of integrating new mecha, new characters, into new situations, while keeping just a few degrees of separation. It keeps the story from getting stale.
  7. I think the main drawback to having it there, was that nobody could sell anything there. I think if we do it next year, it'll be in a place we can sell stuff. But, location is still very open from what it seems.
  8. 4G/G variant...Are you referring to the same thing?
  9. The story of what happens to Misa, Minmay, Hikaru, and the Megaroad 1, is pretty open-ended. For all we know, they could've found a habitable planet that they live on, but are unable to communicate outside of it. Who knows, there's just too many things that could've happened to them. Some people find this type of storytelling weak, but in honesty, I don't always need to know everything that happened to every character. It invites the viewers to create their own side story, and supplement their enjoyment of the story. It also lets us (i.e. sites like this), discuss, debate, and talk about possibilities.
  10. Are people still confused about what it will be? READ THE FIRST POST! It spells out completed toy there. They definitely need more variants of it to make it a worthwhile release other than just a web exclusive. They can make a standard CF version, low vis, Max, Milia, etc. I'm sure quite a few of the completist will be all over those. I know I'd get a low vis an a CF version for certain.
  11. I have a CD signed by Mari Iijima, as well as one of the Yellow Submarine Minmay doll cases. I have a concert ticket that Megumi Nakajima signed, as well as the Macross Frontier dual CD case. I have May'n's autograph on the same dual CD, as well as in the Sheryl Nome visual collection book. That's all I have.
  12. Sounds very close to finishing up. Good stuff. Are you going to do what you did last time with the first release of this, i.e. give out a couple DVDs and put it up to download?
  13. What the Macross franchise also seems to realize, is that you can have different stories, generations, mecha, etc., and still have it loosely intertwine in the overall timeline. The fact that they all do that, keeps fans connected from one series to the next. The same cannot be said for the RT3K idea. It was set like 700 years in the distant future. Even with the current Robotech franchise, it's still in the same story arc that it was left in, back in 1985. Talk about stale. And that's not opinion, that's fact. They can't finish off a story in over 25 years, and move onto something else? I know the stupidity need not be pointed out more than ii already has, but it's just another reason why I laugh when I hear some of these RT fans who always have to make the comparisons between the two, attempt to make a cheap argument that Robotech is a superior product in comparison. BTW, I wonder how those DVDs are working out? Haven't seen them move on the shelves, so I'm thinking they aren't doing too well. Did anyone here get them?
  14. So, roughly about halfway through the series.
  15. In hearing that, I come full circle to the issue of Tommy's treatment. How many people got it from the same location. Also, advertising that you get inside stuff is probably the worst thing to do if you're wanting to say you're loyal to the same people you're taking info from. In any case, in regards to this: I have to disagree strongly. The quality of the character designs makes it clear that the two production values were on completely different levels alone. That's not counting the many, many other things that are far superior to what RT3K was, would've, or could've been.
  16. I think most know that already.
  17. Amiami has been known to be quite expensive with their shipping. While I love their preorder prices, I think they pad that with some of the shipping they charge. Just my guess, but that's what I think. As for HLJ and Fedex, that's what I use. It's always 3 or 4 days time, and the pricing is accurate for shipping and in smaller boxes, which keeps the cost down.
  18. Speaking of limited variants, are there any other canon variants other than the Hikaru version? Aren't the games considered canon as well, and if so, wasn't there a Max/Milia version, or any other versions? To go a bit further, why doesn't Yamato just get their money out of the release, and just make non-canon versions, like a CF version, low vis, etc.?
  19. Seeing those RT3K designs, it's no wonder that project died off quickly. That was Carl's vision of Robotech. I know there are some people that are going to get into a fit over that, but his name was all over that project, and it's why he wasn't at HG long after.
  20. I can see where I'm going to have my quirks about the look of it, but I can live with that for now. I've already got some decals from a model kit that will look better on the toy than the stickers, and I can take them off anytime I want them off, without sacrificing the sticker sheet. My was shipped yesterday, so I'll be getting it Saturday most likely.
  21. With my previous band, we were using Q base for recording. It was VERY expensive, but did just about everything under the sun. I have Audition, and love that as well. The Pro Tools SE is a good, solid, semi robust program for voice work or music/vocal tracks. Speaking of, Che, I owe you some more music. With this setup, I should be able to send you some stuff. I'll have it next week, and you can let me know what you may want to work with. I'm glad this project is up and running. I was stoked to see when the first version came out, even moreso to see this happen.
  22. Toy is great. I love this valk, and while I like my unassembled VF-1s, they're inexpensive because they've has 20 variants. This one would maybe get a couple. It'd suck if it's more than the 17, but I had said I'd get two either way, and I meant it...so long as I can afford it. With no $600 car payment anymore, I'm sitting well.
  23. I have Avid's recording hub, but not the one that comes with the USB mic. I paid extra for the one with the standard mic jack, as I'm not really into those types of mics. With the standard jack, there's more choice of input and quality. I also have extra filter components I use, but that's all recording. As for the hollow sound, I don't really know why it'd do that. I've been getting proficient in Adobe Premier, and kinda learning Final Cut, so if you're using any of those, they have some sites that are pretty extensive as far as sound editing. I also have a friend I can point to this, or, if you prefer, you can pm me the details of the issue, and I can forward it to him, and see if he knows what would make it do that.
  24. I'm guessing either nobody took their toys out of the box, or it really isn't that great, since nobody really posted their pics of it, or raved about it here.
  25. That's awesome. I use the Protools SE for recording, with a 2 input USB hub. Also just got a Shure SM-57 mic, which while not too pricey, is one of the best mics around. There's a few musicians that swear by that mic, and it works really well.
