Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Mine is now sold off. I'm going to wait for the VF-4 with that, or just go all out and get the PRS 513 guitar I've been wanting to get for the past 2 years. -
Thanks, buddy. got some stuff done on it today, and I'll post up an update pic tomorrow for you guys. After this piece is done, I should be able to pound out about 4 original parts over the next few days. Then it'll be back to a slow grind, as I design the parts that need to blend into the current piece I'm doing. Ugh, just thinking about that is stressful. LOL.

I like that scene, too. As for the sound of that part, it's done well. The fade out of Claudia, then the fade in of the ambient noise coming out of her memory. Hikuro, are you done with all the mixing voice and sound? Doesn't seem like there's much left.

Yep, there would be lots to consider in how to approach it, but I really wouldn't expect anyone to contact me about it. While it'd be interesting if they did, I'd just care about getting an actual toy of the VA-3, in that sea green color, or the purple M variant. I have my Macross Chronicle issue with the VA-3M out, and it's a fascinating design. It'd require a rework of the arm design (haven't got there yet), the small booster tanks, and what looks to be harpoons on the wing hardpoints. There's also some strange looking parts that stick up over the wing (?), so maybe that's just a Zolan design thing. Haven't done too much designing yesterday or today. But will get on it again tonight. I've been lagging. Lots of other things to take care of.

Gubaba, I'll create a track for you, and you just do your thing with it.

Yeah, that'd be cool to get Yamato to buy the design. They'd probably have to redesign some of the parts, as they have better materials to use, and better engineering, but the base of what I might be able to do here is a lot.

True, but there's not much difference in the content he brings to either of his podcast. That same type of idealism is what is brought over to the RT podcast, the same paranoia, same conspiracy formulation, same racial remarks, same idiotic idealism. Also, knowing that on that political podcast, the RTx.com admin was on there, just kinda makes you wonder.

If they're going to do a VF-4, why would you want them to limit what comes with it to save a few bucks. They're going to have a set price in mind already, and it's going to be inflated, so why limit what would come with it? Might as well go all out, and get what it should come with, than have the bare minimum, and wish it came with more.

You mean, he went from indirectly blaming Jews for the Holocaust, and claiming they inflated the numbers, to just talking about that stupid game mod? Yes, that statement is true, and these are the people the Robotech mods respect and partner with.

Got a little stuck on this one part still, as there are a lot of curves that lead to sharp angles, unsteady grades, etc. It's definitely taking time to get this part right, and since it's a piece that needs to connect almost flawlessly to the lower outside portions, well, there's a lot more going on with it than just a simple design. Tommorow, I'll take a pic of the S.H.E. kit piece, and the step I'm at with said piece. I wish I had more time over the weekend to work on it, but it was party time for most of the weekend (can't complain about that).

That's too bad for them, as they're going to be missing out on someone with talent. Good luck, Daisuke, on finding a place that will give you less stress, and more joy. Hope you stay in touch, and still have time to show off your work here from time to time.

Yeah, I think with the first one you did, there were some vocal parts that were low, then next scene, it'd be much higher. I ran the audio of the video through Adobe Audition, and they look pretty level to everything else. You should keep the audio of this for when/if the Blu-Ray of DYRL comes out after the series on BD.

Acrylic paints are "supposedly" non-toxic, but if you're worried about them, you could just pour a little at a time, thin it with water, and paint away. When I paint with my Tamiya paints, and handpainting, that's exactly what I do (although I use acrylic thinner). The amount of paint for that is so inconsequential, I've never really heard of anyone going any further than using good common sense, and just using what you need at the time. Stick to that, and you'll be fine, unless you have some sort of allergy to it or have any respiratory problems. Then I'd suggest consulting your Dr. first.

Sound levels sound pretty good. I haven't listened to it through my t.v., but from my computer, I can say, great job! Very impressed with your work.

They don't offer replacement parts anymore. Also, as EXO said, they don't get back to anyone, and are pretty much done. Their customer service is horrible, and they've ripped off a member here. They used to be great, but I wouldn't go near there with a ten foot pole.

Put me on the bandwagon for wanting hardpoints on the wings, like the VF-1.

See if you can return it. If both arms are broken, they might have some sort of return policy. I bought mine a long time ago, and never had any breakage issues (finger's crossed). Buying one of the grey goggle ones might be your best chance at getting a fixed version.

I don't think Tatsunoko even cares about all that. It's probably a relationship that simply allows HG to put a check into Tat's hands every year or whatever, and that is all.

Hey all, for those of you that keep up with the Macross the First title, if you have a facebook account, we've set up a group dedicated to the series. Just search us on Facebook. I know you guys like to chat about this stuff, so it's another venue to get the word out about this great series.

I agree, and that's why I'm not going to go out of my way to defend somebody's poor decisions, or their inability to create anything original that is worthwhile. I wouldn't criticize someone who just passed, out of respect for the passing, but it's definitely been enough time where we can all criticize and post thoughts on past ideas and directions.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Jasonc replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Wow, what a size difference. The 17 looks like a 1/100 compared to a 1/60. Transformed this toy about 8 times so far, and still solid, no scratches, dings, etc. It's still brand spankin' new. -
Just got the gun after it has been fixed and had some issues addressed. I'm not going to recast this piece, but if you want one, you can order it here: http://www.shapeways.com/model/396147/ Attached are pics of the piece, and if you decide to get one, it'll be the same as what is in the pictures. It's probably preferable if you get it in the WSF Polished material, instead of the regular WSF material. Anyways, enjoy.

Sounds like extra work. Hope it turned out alright.

Not ignorance...maybe tasteless, but not ignorant. As for the degrees of insanity amongst the RT fandom, I think the reason why they ALL seem a bit insane, is due to what we've come to understand. That is, all the "normal" fans just don't care, and don't need to express their orgasm for a made up piece of internet hearsay. The rt.com website has very much pushed the fandom into the current state of looking like a bunch of lunatics, by praising stupidity and blind faith, and shunning those that have a good valid opinion. I'm not saying anyone who has a positive look on anything Robotech is out there, but when rt.com has mass bans right after Shadow Chronicles, then right after the Carl Macek documentary, and usually after every release, there's a problem. That problem is on their end.

This looks so much better than what was on the Toynami VF-1R. Good stuff. Are the lasers/antennae going to swivel? If I had a 1/48, I'd be on this like white on rice.
