That reissued 1/3000 SDF-1 looks more colored than the original. Maybe I just haven't seen it in forever, but it looks really good.

I think it was Asylum, that does those SyFy crap made for t.v. movies. I also agree. HG isn't using the franchise for a tax write-off. If they were, the RT dept. there would be the biggest fools for not being able to figure it out. In reality, I think the franchise makes money. As seen over the last decade or so, we're just seeing the remaining group with no talent for writing. Tom Bateman was pretty much their last hope there, and there's quite a few people who I think agree with that.

Maybe puttng nail polish on the male connector that holds the missiles to the wings might help, but if anything, it may only be a temp fix.

That's never been my style. Besides, they verbally "pie" themselves in their marketing, excuses, and their, for lack of a better word, lame ideas. I just need sit back with my popcorn, and call it as it comes.

There are resins that are really strong. There are a few that have aluminum in them, and seem stronger than the original part, but I haven't seen anyone recast with those types, and they aren't color castable. If you're talking about regular resin, then I'd say it doesn't make it stronger. I haven't heard too much about having to clear coat it before priming and all that, but you do have to sand them to get the scaled lines out, as well as try to get rid of the sponginess that some of the materials used in the growing process give. A good primer should fix that.
-
No problem. I know there are quite a few 1/48 fans here, so I'm sure they'd be very happy to see this done to that scale. I'm probably going to split the CAD work up, and do half on the VA-3, half on this.

As far as making durable parts, I would't consider the materials that Shapeway uses, very durable. Their white strong and flexible material is a plastic, but feels like ceramic. Basically, it's a powder that is mixed with a hardener from what I understand, so it's not bonded like injection plastic is. I think if you're looking to make shoulder fixes for Yamatos, or any type of replacement parts, if it's going to be something you move a lot, is going to take on weight, and it needs a lot of durability, that material may not be the one to use. The new printer that came out this year that does ABS maybe the way to go, but again, I don't know how it's cured on the ABS machine. If it's the same way, it's never going to be as sturdy as the original part. I use Shapeways myself, and it works, just not for everything.

I remember at Anime Expo people were asking about either the distributor, or the studio that was working on the LLA project, and he did mention that he'd have an announcement regarding all that before the end of the year. Oh well, go figure.

It's kinda found it way under the rocks of the Maya Islands. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/magazines/mg-oct2002-page-21.jpg http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/magazines/mg-oct2002-page-23.jpg http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/magazines/mg-oct2002-page-24.jpg This was an old kit bash, it appears, that was done almost 10 years ago and converted to transform.

I just remembered something!!! Didn't Kevin McKeever promise to have an update on the distributor or something like that regarding the LLA project before January 1st? Somehow, everyone at HG, rtx, and rt.com conveniently forgot that, or I missed it in my scan of the websites.

In looking at the CG colors of the VF-25S, the new GE-55 Bandai release isn't too far off at all. The slight shade difference isn't a deal breaker by any means. Overall, this version of the toy is probably going to be the definitive version. If that is the case, I'm thoroughly satisfied with what has come out. This thing is going to be super badass once the armor parts come out.

Quick shot of my books on the shelves. I didn't take a pic of all the Macross manga on the third shelf cause it's a bit cluttered, and I have lots of other books there, too.

Meeting someone with common interest is one thing. Having the skills to not f!@# it up by being a super nerd, or using Robotech as a pickup is another.

Just contact ebay and have them shut it down. Having them lose a buck on a copied picture and the time may teach a lesson.
-
Damn, chalk that up to good memory. So, the trend seems to be to sell Robotech as a way to get all those single guys on nerd alert a woman. Let me set you all straight...Robotech logos and luggage tags will NOT get you a woman. If that's all you're relying on, it's going to be more of a detraction.

This is the one that screams to be left in fighter mode with that badass Skull logo on the top. Like a few here, I got my preorder in about two days before they arrived at hlj. When I read that a couple people on the boards cancelled their order due to worrying about something re: the color of paint on the legs, I was able to get one of those. This is my favorite valk right now,,,probably over the 17.

They once had a picure of a group of fans from about 7 years ago at one of Michael Bradley's band concerts, in which I was in it with my (at the time) ex-wife. The strange thing was, they put the pic up with the caption (paraphrasing) "Robotech is good for dates". Even back then, when I was in their good graces, I was shocked that they'd put up something so lame. I couldn't help but laugh. I know a few friends still remember that.

Sent you an email. As for an update, I'm debating using the CAD to redesign the front of the nose, and the backpack. The material I scratchbuilt this out of is great, sturdy, and will last forever, Buuuut, it's only as accurate as my sculpting is, and if I can design a hollow piece that has the panel lines already put in, I'm getting the detail, and lightening up the project all at the same time. Aside from that, the mechanics work great on it. Just transformed it yesterday, as I have two of the EPP pods for the wings, and they look great on it. For those following this thread, should I CAD the main changes, or continue to sculpt with what I have?
-
Oh, duh. I shoulda looked closer at them. Carry On.
-
LMFAO!!! I never read that before. So, that's what they think of their fans.

Looks great. I did notice that the yellow is bleeding through the kite symbol on the wing though. Other than that, looks great. Can't wait to see the toy complete in some good poses.

Luckily, when I got mine, I was able to get replacement hinges for mine. I bought this before getting those, simply because it was a toy I really, really had to have. I don't think anyone can answer that question for you. However, if I wer you, I'd try to protect myself as much as possible with the purchase, if you really want it.
-
Just got mine today, and I must say, I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It's sleek, and is really solid. I love the color of the gun as well. It has a non-toy look to it (finally) that goes well with the grey of the toy. I'm glad I ponied up the money for this item.

If it comes out to be that good, I'll buy some too. Although, it looks like I'll be doing quite a bit of mixing.
