  1. That should be the theme song for rt.com and rtx.com, and for all those that just can't let Robotech go. For my friends whom that would offend, well, you've known my stance on that for awhile. Nostalgia has a way of making people sick if not put in check.
  2. For awhile now, it hasn't mattered how much fanboy wishing has been made, or how many times one or two morons in the RT camp try to bash Macross, it has surpassed Robotech in story, complexity, quality, marketability, profitability, and so on. I prefer not to sit in the RT jerk fest, and wish for things and "speculate" about each others tent poles. They can self graify each other on exagerrated accounts of just how "high concept" Robotech wants to be, but the fact is, it's outdated, it's old, it's moving into a crappier position, and the baseline of it all, no matter how much they may want to twist it, is all a direct rip of 3 other series. Changing a few little things here and there doesn't really make it any more original. It's one thing for a series to borrow concepts from other stories, it's probably impossible not to. Robotech's issue, is that it not only borrows, but is is comprised of other series. OK, my small speech is done. Carry on.
  3. Are you watching them on a PS3? From what I've read, there's some sort of issue with that on some players. There's some way to fix it in a program that lets one edit subs. I think it's called ifoedit or something like that, but I don't know how to adjust it. I have to go to the old M7 thread where that was discussed, and see if I can do it. For me, it plays the same on my PS3, but on my DVD player, it plays just fine.On the subject though, I just looked through that new book, and it's a "MUST" buy. I was amazed at the shots in Dengeki Hobby, but seeing the extra work in this book, these are way beyond basic skill work. Someone also did sculptures of the characters, and there's a short manga at the end, which I hope they adapt the entire story for.
  4. That's exactly my thoughts as well. Speaking of books, just got my vol. 2 of the Macross The Ride art, and I gotta say, wow. Some of this stuff is just crazy work.
  5. I know there are many that want one of these, but for those that already spent good money to get one after the release, I wish they hadn't mentioned re-releasing them. I don't plan to get another one, but I hope everyone that wants one, will be able to get one.
  6. If Yamato decided to do this line, and the scale is the same, I'm dumping my Toynamis in a heartbeat. We'd get a more accurate toy, better landing gear, parts that lock into place, and diecast in the right places. Then imagine the Tread after? Man, I can drool just thinking about that.
  7. Focus more on the romance and love aspect of it, and maybe you'll draw in some females here. I personally know two of them on these boards, one being my wife, the other a close friend of ours, but both hardly ever frequent the toy section. My wife sees it when I am planning to buy something, but other than that, this section, along with the model kit section, seem like the Meltrandi "No Fly" zone.
  8. Is that why we're all here?
  9. Looking at that set of profiles of the CAD, the side profile looks pretty damn good. I like it. That nose needs to come up (like that hasn't been said before), but if we can get that, and the details put into the CAD, we should be sitting pretty. I don't know if this is just my thoughts, but on the fighter front view, do the wings look a little short? Are there extra details missing that make them a little larger?
  10. Looks like it came out really good. Way to go.
  11. So, if I draw that on a piece of paper and inhale it, will my eyes become black with the knowledge of Protoculture?
  12. Thanks. I have started to bring the design over to CAD. I don't know how well it's going to work, but it looks like it may turn out OK. I was able to take the bulges that start under the cockpit, and integrate a sort of lock, that will keep the rotating nose from turning while in fighter. It's not rocket science, just a simple little slide piece. Being that the front piece fits around the rounded and sharp nose, I'll probably make this very hollow. The only issue I have as of now is to either make space for the already made leg locking system, or recreate it so that it is already integrated into the new nose.
  13. "I ain't afraid of no ghost"...du dudu du du du du, dudududu du du du dududu du....GHOSTBUSTERS!!! P.S. If the price is decent, I'm in for a set. I was actually thinking about designing the Ghost in 1/60. Looks like I will not have to now.
  14. What I like about Macross, is that aside from Macross II, it's all a continuous story, and not so confusing like what Gundam can be. Yes, I know there are separate timelines in Gundam, but U.C. is what really counts, and if you add all the stories that come with that, they are spurradic as far as when those come out. I can totally see Macross the First being done into an animated series. As for manga of Macross, and the sort, there are a few Macross Frontier spinoffs that are out. Perhaps something like Macross 7 Trash would be cool. New characters in the same timeline. Heck, they have the Macross the Ride novels, they should make a manga out of those, too. Even animate it. Why not!
  15. These pics are awesome. I'm envious of the displays you guys have.
  16. I understand people are going to point out the flaws of the design, but at this stage, it's like telling a baker to put the eggs in when all he's done so far is get out the flour. I do like the angled up nose better, but as this is only a CAD design to date, they probably already have some of the initial corrections written down. I'm sure theirs already been changes to what we are seeing now, meaning, put the panic button in the fridge for awhile. As for the feet, I prefer the original looking block feet. It looks more aesthetically similar to the overall design.
  17. I think the Macross franchise releases new series in a decent amount of time. With Gundam, they release series more often because many of the spinoffs aren't canon. Because of that, casual Gundam fans can just jump into the series of their choosing, and run with it. If you look at the frequency of the U.C. storyline, it's spread out a bit more. I wouldn't be surprised if after Gundam the Origin comes out, if we don't see a Macross: The Origin, or Macross the First animated series. I think the success of Gundam the Origin will bring the viability of a new Macross origin series. That said, if they did Macross series every 5 years, I think they'd be in a great swing of things. There is a lot to plan for series, and as long as the quality is there, if it takes longer, I'm OK with that. Just as long as it doesn't take 20+ years like another similar franchise.
  18. That's most likely the case. I'm almost positive that once a sculpt comes in, they'll make necessary adjustments. As for a base model, it looks very good. Very promising indeed.
  19. Yeah, definitely is. Although, I coulda sold about 10 more of these YF-29s to cover the total cost.
  20. If you're gonna do it, best to do it right. I don't think you want it to have shortcomings of being pixelated and all, especially with all the brilliant and hard work you put into it.
  21. It doesn't transform, but it does create anima spiritia, and with it, I will transform your heart. "Listen to my SONG!"
  22. I'll be on the lookout for the new content. I don't want to rebuy updated copies of what I already have. I'm kinda pissed that they'd redo all of it, instead of just putting out supplementals as well. Nevertheless, for those that don't have the first run, This maybe a great time for you. I can enjoy your excitement.
  23. Thanks, I should take pics of the rest of the shelves, as it's mostly manga below, as well as some comics, and other stuff. I didn't picture the Macross the First manga, the Frontier, Trash, SDF Macross, or any of those others. I may need a book shelf just for Macross books.
  24. This is part of what my sold YF-29 went to... and no regrets.
  25. Agreed!!! I used some old 1/72 scale Haesgawa decals and mine came out great. Speaking of, if the do reissue this with tamp printing, I'm never buying another Yamato fresh off the press again. I'm sure there'd be so many pissed off fans here, it'd probably have a negative backlash.
