It's just stupid to assume that Carl and Greg wrote anentire script without the Japanese version, then got it later, only to redo it with corrections and similar references. Who would Be so stupid, as to do double the work, especially knowing they We're on a tight time and budget constraint? If you were going to do a book report, would you write it before reading the book, Then go back to read it, then make corrections after all that? It's all ass backward, and makes absolutely no sense. Common sense can go a long way.

MacrossWorld Convention 2012 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
So, will people be able to sell anything? If we have any raffles, or anything like that, I may have something to donate this year. Also hoping I can have at least the legs of the 1/60 VA-3 done by then. -
Not bad. I like the grey tone to it.

Okaaaaayyyyyy..... I've said this for a long time now, some people are happy if they got sh!t on a stick with a Robotech label on it.

Where's the preorder??? As this is a well established toy mold for Yamato, they should already be making these.

Addressing similarities between the two scripts, and there being almost exact dialogue in some places, are too close to make an argument that they didn't use the original script as reference. While I think Greg Snegoff is a good guy, it doesn't seem like he's totally forthcoming about that story. When he says that the scripts were horrible, I think he was talking about direct translation, and probably from a non-reputable source. It's completely ignorant, to assume that Carl, Greg, and the other writers wrote the entire thing with no reference material. It just didn't happen. There's too many direct similarities that one wouldn't necessarily come to figure out just by visually watching the Japanese version. If you think all those are just coincidences, then there's no point in arguing with delusional fans. What strikes the whole thing odd, is that it's even an issue. They did use the Japanese script, who cares? Carl and Greg seem to inflate the story quite a bit there, but it's not making them any more credible, or talented as writers. And just because someone says that it's how the story goes, if you're going to believe that, over common sense, then there's really no point in arguing with someone who lives in fantasy land.

Contrary to what RT fans want to believe, I was a Macross fan first, before I even knew about Robotech, and before I even watched a episode of Robotech, I had watched Macross by that point. I'm curious, too. I always wondered why so many come here, thinking that the majority of people who post in this forum, actually care about the Robotech franchise. I know a few of you don't. I, for one, certainly don't, unless it means a chance at the originals coming over. I also wonder about this Robotech: LLA show. Many of the RT fans say they don't want that, BUT, how many of you are going to buy it anyway? Does your need for Robotech outweigh your principals? I wonder how may will say "I'm not going to buy that", and the day it's released, you're one of the first in line.

Macross Do You Remember Love fansub cover design need feed back

Are there any updates on the DVD case? Let me know if I can help in anyway, art, or anything like that. I've got a pretty extensive past and current library of Macross art. -
Being that those designers design the toys for Yamato, it's on par with what they do.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't say things just to convince you of something, therefore, whatever "weight" you want to apply to it, doesn't mean a thing. As for my stance on Robotech, I never said I don't like it (maybe you should read a little more, or at least comprehend what you read). I liked Robotech, and can appreciate what it was. I make no qualms about what it's become, or saying that it's garbage, but to each their own. It's all good Some of those issues of continuity were minor issues compared to some of the glaring other issues that were there, but that's neither here nor there. As for the geriatric Rick Hunter look, it was a bad rendition of him. Aging isn't a tricky thing in anime at all. Every anime I've watched seems to do it quite well, and the only time they'll look very different, is if they show the character going from a child to a senior, or young teen to a senior. Even then, they still have remnants of the character that make it look believable. I'm not saying you should have a problem with the way Rick Hunter looked in Shadow Chronicles. You may have had no problems with it, but apparently, enough people did have an issue with it. I know even Tommy wasn't too thrilled with the outcome of Rick Hunter, but he told me that in hindsight, after a lot of people complained about the design. I have seen a fan's design that would've looked far better, still retains a believable look, and wouldn't get them in trouble with design infringement.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

There are ways to get to things if you research it enough. -
I'd actually be happier if I didn't have to see a Shadow Rising come out as well. SC sucked badly, and aside from apeasing the diehard fans, it didn't gain fans, nor put it in any forefront. It's also a big waste of time, as they're not going to finish off the story of what happened to Rick Hunter, and the current staff hasn't proven that they can write themselves out of any creative box to save their lives. The longer they continue to use designs that aren't theirs, the less interested I am with the franchise (at this point, I'm at zero interest). It's just time to pack it up and put it away.

You might as well ask which is more fun...being burned alive, or drowned? If SR is actually being worked on now, that could mean that WB isn't going to do a Robotech movie. That'd be a good, welcomed kick in the groin to the Robotech franchise. I never wanted to see a live action movie to begin with. They never come close to feeling like the anime.

It's an interesting valk, but ugly as can be. What scale are you going to do it in?

The only thing I am worried about is the fact that he has 9 of them available. I'm not a big fan of reprints. That said, it does say that it's original. I may get one.

If you want to get the best resolution, use the Frosted Ultra detail material. From what I've seen of it, it does detail up to .1 mm, and doesn't have a spongie look to it.

MacrossWorld Convention 2012 Information Thread

I should be able to help out this year, pending it's not on weekend I'll be out. -
I didn't mean that Shadow Chronicles was the primary cause, but it definitely put the ball into motion. People were already getting feisty at the lack of news on the release of the feature, but when criticism was met with bannings, I think that caused the opposite of gaining fans to happen. More people were leaving than coming in. I can think of everyone that I knew from the forums then, friends, aquaintances, and all in between, and many just don't go there anymore. HG's choice to ban some people due to their criticism, ended up spreading to those that were friends of those people, and a mass exodus started to happen right after the release.

If their goal was to bring in a whole new set of fresh fans into the fray, then they failed miserably. In fact, the only thing they really did after the release, was lose fans. Once HG went into defensive mode about the film, and started banning people who didn't absolutely love Shadow Chronicles, they started losing fans. I almost have to say that Shadow Chronicles was the thing that instigated the decline of the fanbase. It also didn't help that the ugliness of the staff started showing, as well as the nutjobs in the fanbase really started getting defensive with the staff.

I have a friend that has some really rare Robotech songs that never made it to the screen. Unfortunately, those won't see the light of day until after their CD is out. Then it can be more of a "They still didn't get EVERYTHING." As for the rt.com link, I kinda expect something like that. Many people that like only Robotech, have been potty trained to only piss out ideas that are based on something already there, or repeat HG's vision of ripping from some other established story. It's nothing really new. You can go back and look at some of the old rpg sites, and they incorporate all Macross designs, and some from Gundam and Megazone 23 as well. On the flip side, you can go here, and see people attempting to design totally new mecha, and expand the Macross universe in their own unique way. It's one thing, even when I was a member on rt.com back in the day, that really annoyed me. It seemed, even back then, that Robotech has a way of stinting creativity amongst its fans, just out of its own creation. By that action alone, the fans (especially the vocal nutjobs) help keep Robotech in their stagnant position, unable to break free from the first 3 shows it started from. The best thing they can do to save themselves, would be to bring in all new designs, and shed off what keeps them tied to rehashed story and design. I say all that, but in reality, we're talking about one of the most unmotivated, uncreative Robotech staff. That'd never happen.

This is why it'd have to be a co-investment to be made as a toy. I've heard of different companies partnering together to make toys, and this would probably be one of them, as Dengeki Hobby sponsored this toy design.

I don't know. There was a thread for the Wonderfest in the model forum. You can see if anyone writing there has gone. I'd love to get my hands on one of these. I especially like the metallic painting.
