  1. I ended up buying 1 S, 1 A, and 2 J kits. I really want to customize these, so just waiting for the right custom job to work on. I was going to do a M & M version with the 1Js, but I'd want to die them, not paint them. There's no way the blue and red paints would hold up on the plastic during transformation. They really, really need to reissue them.
  2. Well, you can agree, but that still doesn't change the reasons why it didn't move forward, and that was an overwhelming bad response by the fans. Also, just because it didn't happen the same way with other shows, doesn't mean that HG has to, or would follow suit. To use Beast Wars, or BSG as a referrence doesn't work, especially for a company that doesn't necessarily do production. As for Netter Digital going bankrupt, I know that was one of the issues that made the decision easier, but not he deciding factor. It seems in every case where a planned series failed, it had more than one reason. I think he did mention that, and from the research I got years ago, it did do well enough. As for why we're here years later with no sequel, have you read these forums? There's been the issue with WB floating around for IDK, at least 4 years now? Be it to make way for the live action, or for whatever reason they wanna give, I'm sure if WB said to wait, HG is going to wait. As for you not being sure about marketing research, what are you not sure about?
  3. I remember just about everyone who had a comment on that project, panned it. What saved them/hurt them, depending on which side of the coin you're looking at, was the fact that they had been showing the piece before a full episode was done, or before too much money was put into it. Also, the term "market research" was in the process of changing to incorporate internet research, on a scale unlike what had ever been seen before. I'm not saying the internet hadn't been used before, but it was during a time when concepts and sites like youtube were brand new, and not just the hardcore fans could see things outside of convention walls. That does include sponsors and networks, that at that time and now, use the power of the internet to hear the common voice of the public to measure the potential success/failure of a product. Perhaps had the people working on Beast Wars started marketing the product at the same point in time, they would have either cut the project, or changed aspects of the show. I don't know what woulda/coulda been, but what did happen, is that it was a large group of the fanbase spoke, and the response is now history.
  4. So, if everyone hates it, it shouldn't matter because you're rebooting a franchise? What's actually plausible, is that after a third failed attempt at a new Robotech series, feature, or whatnot, and A LOT of money put into the franchise with no real return, they dumped Macek, along with the project that the fans clearly didn't like. I'm also quite certain Frank Agrama doesn't need a scapegoat to fire anyone, or stop a project. The thing is, people spoke up about the RT3K project, and it did get back to HG. Tommy, Steve, and Kevin have been on the defense, attempting to keep that from possibly reoccurring, I'm sure they know the power of the internet, and might be a reason of why their (piss poor) attempt at marketing, has been relegated to conventions.
  5. You thought Robotech 3000 was a nice concept? I understand what they were trying to do, but the fact that the story takes place a whopping 700 years into the future, and the technology looks worse than the Mospeada technology, it didn't make any sense at all. To add, part of the "concept", was to use that style of CG, which was already old, and very stiff looking. I guess you can say it's a nice concept, if your goal was for the majority of the people interested to hate it, and you want to get yourself fired. In that case, I'd say it's a very good concept, and it was what helped give Carl Macek the boot at Harmony Gold.
  6. I like the Hikaru 1J punching the Zentraedi. Supah punch time!
  7. I'm sure Bandai got it, due to the fact that they distribute the Frontier DVD/BD, and put out the games.
  8. I want one, but if I happen to completely miss out, I'm not going to worry about it. It's an Alto version, and one that I can easily skip over. I just want the damn CF versions.
  9. I'm just OK with the CG designs. In the case of Frontier, the CG was done very well, and the CG work looks fluid with the 2D stuff. Shadow Chronicles was jarring with their CG work, and it was very cut and paste. The ships, mecha, and all that, was like bricks in it.
  10. ... You're welcome. While it wasn't intended to be condescending, if it came off as that, oh well. I think what you're not figuring out, is that nobody said Kawamori was the be all, end all to mechanical design. That's your assumption, which now has made you the first syllables of that word. As for trying to make me feel "better about myself", again, another ass-umption that you've incorrectly made, but glad you could play along anyways. 1. I know that's my opinion. 2. If you read the first part of the quote above, those are your words. You brought up the argument, and when others started debating that claim, you posted again with your (paraphrasing) "Big whoop, Aramaki did ....., 3. I think you're getting mixed up with me correcting you, and you thinking that your opinion counts to me. Re-read. 4. That's fine if that is your opnion. I don't have a problem with your opinion, albeit quite misinformed. The facts are, while I like both, and have respect for both, Kawamori is the more successful of the designers, which many more times than not, translates to a better designer. You can still have your opinion, but usually the masses outweigh the one on this. 5. Again, you're very misinformed, it seems, about this topic. The armored core game franchis isn't some small walk in the park sketching he did. There are quite a few art books with all the Armored Core mecha, and the franchise has had quite a few releases. Not something people just throw together. You're trying to validate your argument by diluding the facts, and make his work not so important, so that's where you need to be corrected. 6. Sure....
  11. On top of what others have mentioned, Kawamori also worked on Eureka 7, Aquarion, Basquash, and was also asked to design a fighter for the new Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. You may want to check a few facts before rambling. I don't know what poor decision you went with to create a worthless argument, but your comment above makes me think you still play in a sandbox at school. To add to that, if you're going to use M.A.S.K. as one of your arguments, it's probably more of a detriment to your cause. I can't call it an argument, as you've managed to degrade it into a contest of how much you want your opinion to count to us.
  12. Hope you're not referring to short bus special. I doubt you are, but shoot me a pm.
  13. They've had "special guests" drummers and players before, so they might be able to have one come up, that is, if they end up playing.
  14. Will these fit on the Thunder Focus kit? I'm also getting the VF-11 Nothung kit, too. So, if these go with that as well, I'll be getting two sets.
  15. If you were to do that, that'd be great. Are you able to scale it down like that? I sent you a pm, but I think I wrote it not reading your post correctly. Anyways, I'll talk to you there. And for this teaser, it looks to be a very promising piece. Can't wait to see the outcome.
  16. Will there be a band playing??? I know a band that has a decent set of Macross songs in their catalogue (hint hint)
  17. I so need that shirt.
  18. Is anyone doing a 1/60 version? If not, I'm going to finish my 1/60 kit up. Love this design, and if I collected the 1/48s, I'd be all over this kit. Great stuff, Thor.
  19. As the saying goes, if "common sense" is so common, why is it so few have it? I have no problems for people asking for some links as referrence, or to simply give examples, but when people start with the "Back up your claim", or "Do you have hard data to back that up" type of sh!t, it usually goes with an idiotic sense of entitlement, like the burden of proof and the entire argument hangs on making them a believer. On separate occassions, I've run into this in some of the Robotech camp, and it comes down to this...it's not my responsibility to educate them, nor is it my "burden" of proof. If someone wants to be that diluded into thinking that I say things just for their belief, I simply laugh. The response usually is, "go do some research, and try to converse when you're not so much a dumb@ss."
  20. Didn't the guys who did Yamato's 17, design this one as well? From first impression, the knee joints look very much the same.
  21. +1 While I like the designs, they are definitely drawn from the VF-1. You can especially see it in the hea design of the VF-2JA, and the 2SS. While Kawamori was not involved, they certainly wanted to give the impression that he was, maybe because he is that good.
  22. Let me ask you a question...do you ever search anything on the internet, look at youtube, or do anything like that? Fans that want to incorporate anything Macross into Robotech are all around the net. I find it ironic that the people whom ask for "hard data" and facts, are either too ignorant, or too damn lazy to do their own searching. Do you even know what you mean by "hard data"? I don't think you do, or you would've just said "facts". I'm sure you can at least look that up in the meantime after reading this. Nothing personal, but I wish we had "Stupidest Comment" awards. You'd be a shoe-in about now.
  23. If you know that this is a Macross site, why would you put it up here, knowing that you'll stir the hornet's nest? I have friends that do fanfic writing, but they put their stuff up in the right places. Just sayin'.
  24. I was waiting on this. Now that it's got a release date, more sack lunches to pay for it. If it's going to be upwards in cost, I hope they just include everything in the bundle. I'd rather pay more upfront, save the shipping, and get it all together, than just get the main fighter, then the pieces later. Bandai must not realize that it's a double punch for fans who order these online and have to pay for shipping on two items, instead of one.
