MacrossWorld Convention 2012 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
They've had "special guests" drummers and players before, so they might be able to have one come up, that is, if they end up playing. -
Will these fit on the Thunder Focus kit? I'm also getting the VF-11 Nothung kit, too. So, if these go with that as well, I'll be getting two sets.
-
If you were to do that, that'd be great. Are you able to scale it down like that? I sent you a pm, but I think I wrote it not reading your post correctly. Anyways, I'll talk to you there. And for this teaser, it looks to be a very promising piece. Can't wait to see the outcome.

MacrossWorld Convention 2012 Information Thread

Will there be a band playing??? I know a band that has a decent set of Macross songs in their catalogue (hint hint) -
Is anyone doing a 1/60 version? If not, I'm going to finish my 1/60 kit up. Love this design, and if I collected the 1/48s, I'd be all over this kit. Great stuff, Thor.

As the saying goes, if "common sense" is so common, why is it so few have it? I have no problems for people asking for some links as referrence, or to simply give examples, but when people start with the "Back up your claim", or "Do you have hard data to back that up" type of sh!t, it usually goes with an idiotic sense of entitlement, like the burden of proof and the entire argument hangs on making them a believer. On separate occassions, I've run into this in some of the Robotech camp, and it comes down to this...it's not my responsibility to educate them, nor is it my "burden" of proof. If someone wants to be that diluded into thinking that I say things just for their belief, I simply laugh. The response usually is, "go do some research, and try to converse when you're not so much a dumb@ss."

Didn't the guys who did Yamato's 17, design this one as well? From first impression, the knee joints look very much the same.

+1 While I like the designs, they are definitely drawn from the VF-1. You can especially see it in the hea design of the VF-2JA, and the 2SS. While Kawamori was not involved, they certainly wanted to give the impression that he was, maybe because he is that good.

Let me ask you a question...do you ever search anything on the internet, look at youtube, or do anything like that? Fans that want to incorporate anything Macross into Robotech are all around the net. I find it ironic that the people whom ask for "hard data" and facts, are either too ignorant, or too damn lazy to do their own searching. Do you even know what you mean by "hard data"? I don't think you do, or you would've just said "facts". I'm sure you can at least look that up in the meantime after reading this. Nothing personal, but I wish we had "Stupidest Comment" awards. You'd be a shoe-in about now.

If you know that this is a Macross site, why would you put it up here, knowing that you'll stir the hornet's nest? I have friends that do fanfic writing, but they put their stuff up in the right places. Just sayin'.

I was waiting on this. Now that it's got a release date, more sack lunches to pay for it. If it's going to be upwards in cost, I hope they just include everything in the bundle. I'd rather pay more upfront, save the shipping, and get it all together, than just get the main fighter, then the pieces later. Bandai must not realize that it's a double punch for fans who order these online and have to pay for shipping on two items, instead of one.

I usually order my parts in the WSF Polished, and it maybe a good option to have, or at least try. It's polished a bit, but still has a little grittiness to them. So, is anyone planning on dyeing their parts to color match?

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Finished watching Birdy the Mighty: Decode, and I have to say, it was great. I hope there's more to watch. Started picking up Shuffle, a typical high school harem anime. Cute and all, not really my type, but it is fun.Next up with this one, Rosario+Vampire. Don't know how that one is, but I'll let you guys who haven't seen it, know how it is, afterward. -
And Mikimoto now has his chance in Macross the First.

Has anyone added english subs to the Mac Frontier bluRays?
Jasonc replied to jwinges's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'm definitely interested in getting those. With large files like that, it'd probably have to go up on bittorrent, but if you do that, please let us know. If I can get the files, I should have my BRD burner in about a month. BTW, thanks for the offer. I'm sure you'll make a lot of people happy here. -
That looks amazing with those boosters and in that color scheme.

I have to agree, the armor parts look like an epic win on the fan's part, and for Bandai. I'll be happy when this comes in. It'll be my first armor set purchased. Never got the version 1 set. I hope there's news of the RVF, and Michael's version.

So, out of curiosity, has hlj put this up and it's already taken down, or have they not put anything up yet on the re-release? -

That wasn't necessarily directed at you, personally, but moreso the general Robotech fans that sign on anonymously, or just lurk in here. I still have a few of my old Toynami items from years ago, and all that's left was bought 2nd and 3rd hand from private owners. For a long time now, I've refused to buy anything from them. I don't need stupid single CDs with character crotch shots, or wristbands, or calendars with Tommy Yune art. Even if they made new toys, I'm not going to support a franchise that has poor management, poor creative skill, and people that don't know their head from their @ss. It's one of the great injustices in the anime industry. I've spoken to fans outside of the Robotech/Macross issue, and even they know about the block to some extent. Then again, if you talk to most anime fans, they know of Robotech to some bit or recognition, but a lot of times, it's the brunt end of a joke, and rightly so.

Has anyone added english subs to the Mac Frontier bluRays?
Jasonc replied to jwinges's topic in Movies and TV Series
I wouldn't mind getting them on BRD as well. I have them on the original BRD, but with no subs, it's not as fun to watch. I made a DVD set, but a BRD set would be even better. I don't know much about encoding, subtitles, and all that, but I have software that I got from a forum that does subs, and it works pretty good. I also have an Asus laptop that is capable of burning BR, but need to upgrade the drive to do it. -
What is curious, is that IF you know that what Robotech will put out will be garbage, why continue to support it at all? If you have that much fondness for nostalgia, fine, I get that. People want to feel like they did when they were a kid all the time. However, Why caress the hand that's slapping you in the face? Some RT fans, MANY RT fans, seem like the wife in an abusive relationship. They get beat up, but keep coming back for more.
