What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That part was very funny. This entire series is just comedy throughout. What makes it even funnier, is the fact that Tony Oliver does like 4 or 5 voices in it. There's quite a few times he's basically talking to himself. -
Looks great so far. Definite buy if they don't markup the hell out of it.

But that's stuff you take issue with after you watch it. I don't think that contributed to the poor sales. I wanted to see this, and did, but right before seeing it, I had absolutely no clue what it was about. That is a problem, especially in thi day and age, where people want the previews to give the entire plot away before even seeing the movie. It's one thing that drives me nuts about previews these days, where they give away every great line, and every good action sequence. What ends up being left by the time you get to the actual movie, is how the characters get from point A to Z. While the previews for this movie didn't do that, people wanna know, and the lack of proper advertising really hurt it.

Those swing bars in the diagram probably need to be diecast, or some other alloy. I think Yamato's quality materials, as opposed to resin or soft plastics, will make the mechanism work just fine.

Man, I thought this was the VF-4 thread Glad the Phalanx is coming. I hope there's more pics coming of the VF-4. I know September is a ways away, but some early prototypes would be awesome.

I sincerely hope this hasn't moved to the vaporware status. It looks so freakin' cool.
-
Yeah, that's still way too much for what you're getting. Still not worth it in my opinion.

Everything is cool, except for the outrageous prices. It's 81,900 yen for Gatchaman, roughly over $900 for the series on blu-ray. There's not going to be enough improvement to warrant paying through the nose for a series I have as Robotech, and the Mospeada title on DVD.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

So, you really didn't understand the story then, did you? Part of the story is realizing that people (characters in this case) die, and for no reason, too. While I know you're trying to make a point solely based on your opinion, you're trying a bit too hard to get everyone to see this aimless point of yours. There were a few others that wrote about how they didn't care for it, and left it at that. They're not trying to give a full thesis on why we shouldn't like a series. Personally, I found the show fun to watch, the characters easy to get (if not a little over emotional), and the story makes sense to me. Maybe I'm just on the ball with it a little more. If it was so bad, I don't think it'd be a classic, and it's not just because Gundam is a big franchise. There are plenty of Gundam series and movies that don't cut it. LOL, I don't hate Southern Cross, but that would answer a few questions. As for dubs vs. subs, this is probably the wrong forum, but I don't care either way. It's ease and comfort with dubs, but it depends on the production team as to just how far from the original translation will go. As for subs, I've seen some bad subs, but the current subber groups out there are pretty damn accurate, and don't deviate from the original Japanese. I think you get the original intent with good subs, but you can also get that with a good dub. I think it really just depends on everyone's personal preference, and shouldn't strike against them for preferring one over the other. The only thing that irks me, is people that get a little pissy because "they only watch subs". Trust me, they aren't any higher up on the food chain because of it, they only think they are. Anyways, to get back on topic, started rewatching Full Metal Panic, after almost 10 years. Can't believe that show is that old already. Watching it just for the heck of it, and it's really not too bad. Also started watching Tenchi Muyo GXP. Freakin' hilarious series. Also been watching Rurouni Kenshin, The Wandering Samurai series. -
I used to put these together back in the day, and if you get just the basic sets first, there's a lot you can do to them, with little work. It's actually a lot of fun putting them together, and tricking them out to what you want. After reading this, and seeing some displays put out there, I am thinking about doing another one. The last one I did was about 7 or 8 years ago, and had controls to move and lower a crane arm, rotate part of the hangar floor, and tons of lights.

I agree it was very "mysterious" in the previews. I didn't even know what it was about, but in watching it, it was well worth the ticket price. I've seen it twice, and it was just as fun the second time. It's a shame that it didn't do well at all. It doesn't look like they were planning on doing a sequel, but in my opinion, this is probably one of the better movies to do this bad.

I understand people really wanting this toy, and getting a little t'ed off at the situation, but if you guys don't overreact, and concentrate on finding one, you might actually do so. It's still a little too early to say what will happen come release date. Bandai may just decide to make more for the initial release. It sucks not being able to get one for those that want it, but I'm sure it'll all pan out. At least this isn't as bad as the Max and Miriya 1J v.2.

Exactly. To add, I'm not paying for it all at once. Little here, little there. The cost for the kit is probably going to be around $500-$600, but all that depends on getting it done. Anyways, I'll keep all this info on the original thread I started. Don't wanna derail this one.
-
Yeah, I expect this thing to cost upwards of $1K when I'm done getting all the parts. I'm expecting some won't fit right, or I'll have to shave a little off somewhere, broken parts, improved parts, etc. At this point, I design some, then order a part. The design is proably faster than the wait time. Nevertheless, I can't proceed too far ahead without solid parts in hand, as if one is messed up, so will th other parts be. I'm only as fast as the slowest part in the link. Hehe, sometimes the slow part is me. Donations will come out when it's done, I'm sure , and the time, and price of the first will have to be made up somehow, if I get enough orders when done. If not, I'll be 1 of 1 to have it, and it'll be something I always wanted for myself, so it won't be too bad of a sacrifice.
-
Yeah, better late than never. The flip side of this coulda been "Not enough interest" or "Moving in another direction", which is just code for not gonna happen. Glad it's still coming.
-
Good to know. I would love to see the pretty pics of it.

If you have any left, I'll probably get one from you.

I don't think anything (as of yet) is slated in terms of Macross for September. I put mine on preorder for this. It's too incredibly nice looking. If only it was in a 1/60 scale to match my Valks, I'd have it on display with them. Either way, I'll be swooshing this thing around the house.

I think you have your sarcasm sensor down. You may want to get that looked at.

Holy crap, that thing is gorgeous.

Noticed that a few days ago. I hope these can do the same thing. It looks very odd with the super football pads, or maybe something similar to that old style of women wearing the business jackets with the super stuffed shoulders.

In battroid mode, the shoulders look extremely wide on this thing...moreso than the 17S. I wonder if that is one of the design flaws, or if it's just the color that puts it in the forefront.

Has anyone added english subs to the Mac Frontier bluRays?
Jasonc replied to jwinges's topic in Movies and TV Series
Works great! I'm used to uTorrent saying it's ready, so maybe it's just this new version? Don't know, but the quality is excellent. Thanks for putting this up. The quality is very good. You've done a good thing. Many thanks. -

99.9% and it's been there for about 4 hours and o kb/s. I should've been done about 5 hours ago, but it just choked.
