was there any line art of the landing gear? The gears seem a little low, which may just be me, but it looks like a ground scraper.

Well, if they only get a small amount in, at least you'll be one of the first who paid. You're almost guaranteed one.

Do you have the link for it? I might be able to figure it out, as I pretty much have the song down already.

May'n in California
Jasonc replied to Mercurial Morpheus's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Wow, never left the U.S., and I've seen May'n perform twice! This was an epic show. Less "choreographed" and refined, this show was really meant to rock, and be up and close with the fans. All that "rawness" of the show, I totally loved it. You guys in the Bay area should have fun. I really hope she comes back again for more shows. -

Nobody really planned anything, but there are going to be quite a few of us there. -
Macross 7 Bluray Boxset Details Announced
Jasonc replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
I disagree there. There are other factors at work. -
Overall, I think the Bandai figures are a bit under scaled. As for the Valkyries themselves, I'm not a scale nazi, so I think they're close enough to be considered the same.

Let's face it...paying for anything sucks. Free will always win out. I feel for you guys havng to pay ON TOP OF what you already are forking out in the product and just getting the item transported to you.

I remember an interview in which Kawamori said (and I'm summing this up) that watching these shows is like us watching movies about WWII, or something like that. It's a strange way to look at your creations, but I guess the idea of one super strict canon that everyone has to adhere to isn't as important as fans make it. Seriously, have you seen how butt tight many of the Robotech fans get over keeping everything canon, and strict by the book? I guess at some point, it was decided that to adhere to a strict canon will almost always come back to bite you. Star Trek fans are notorious for this, Robotech fans get nutty over this too. Being used to strict canon myself, it's a bit to get used to, but in essence, they're giving more power to the fans that way. In that sense, it's pretty cool.

HLJ will need to put in their order to Bandai for these units, and it seems like they're just waiting on confirmation of how many they will actually get. Yes, it sucks that we wall have to wait for this to happen, but at the same time, I'd rather know for certain if I'm getting one over keeping my fingers crossed on a smaller e-tailer.

I think they took flak before, for selling Macross stuff, but that was for SDF Macross stuff. I think they basically said F.U. to them, and we still see these going up. It's an isse HG would lose if they went to court over it. That said, it's interesting how everyone is just kinda in this state of limbo, waiting to see what unfolds with this, and hoping that it's a more positive sign for the 25G. I can't really complain about it, but it is interesting to try to understand.

WTF??? $31 below the MSRP? I wonder if they realize that with the archaic design features of this toy, it's not even worth the $160 price tag. We were buying the other versions for $120 right after they came out, so if anything, $10 more for a gimmick synchro cannon would suffice. It's a good design, but like EXO said, the design is sculpted, not done in CAD, and uses old school materials, i.e. die cast, in some very poor places, which adds cost for no reason. I'm a pass on this.

I was hoping that when I start working on my own display room, that I had a section of all the Zentran/Meltran group, annnnnd of course, I'd like to do it without the help of the Matchbox toy figures. I'm not big on the Matchbox large Zentraedi with ape posable arms, nor the ugly macronized Miriya (nor the micronized one, for that matter). I want Yamato sculpted, anime accurate figures, damnit! Right now, all I have is a Milia 639 set, customized other Meltran females to go with it, and the T-Rex 1/60 Kamjin figure all painted up.If people bought that, how many more do you think would get a Britai Softbi?

The 1/48 line is dead. It's almost wasted posting saying you'd only get it in this scale, or prefer this scale. Yamato doesn't do 1/48s anymore, and why would they piss off their fans who are collecting the current line, by switching (yet again) the scales? The articulation of the 1/60 line is justa as good, if not better, than the 1/48 line IMO, and it's less pricey as there's less mass for the same thing. If they do make this it'd be awesome to have, but I think the real push point would be the new Fast Packs to go along with them. Throw those in, and I'll have to explain to my wallet why I'm starving him once again.

Watching it on older media seems only preferable if you're a softy for nostalgia. Aside from that, I have no use for it.

I'll be slow in getting two of these for Diamond Force. If FPs are separate, definitel in for a few sets.

With what's out now, no, they're not worth it. The 11B had a habbit of breaking at the leg hip joint. The 21 and 19 were fine, if you don't mind the big gaps. What I really miss though, is the VF-19A's color scheme, which Yamato should've revived.

Awesome. If I can get the Klan figure in the next week or so, I'll post up the project. I think I have like 5 different Meltrans including Milia. They all range from Gundam characters, one's from Haruhi Suzumiya, one from an unknown show or manga, and then the Klan. Please let me know when you get it up on their for order.
-
Are you going to load that at Shapeways? I definitely want one of those. Hell, this is making me want to go and get my Meltran squad out and finish all that up. Thanks for the inspiration to finish an old project.

Funimation is hardly a monopoly, at least not yet. I think the problem is these U.S. companies wait for a series to air in Japan, and then wait to see how well the merchandise sells. Overall, if the franchise proves profitable, they'll attempt to bring it over. During that time, over a year passes, and an army of fan subbers have had it on bittorrent sites for that time. Then by the time the companies put it out here, nobody wants to buy it, because they saw it almost a year prior. It's a tough decision for the American companies, because from what appears, is that Japanese companies don't want Americans getting involved in their industry, i.e., getting involved with their distribution, their timing, their way of doing things. Also, as far as I know, even though Bandai USA no longer distributes anime DVDs, Bandai ent. has no qualms about it, and most companies in Japan don't base their series on overseas support, whatsoever. So, what is an American company to do? The best solution would be to obtain the license for a series prior to airing on Japanese t.v., or ASAP, and try the simultaneous release. Afro Samurai had a simultaneous release, because it was a collaboration of both countries. Gundam Unicorn seems to be doing simultaneous release as well, but what helps is that the franchise is so large, it's almost guarnteed profit. For not so well know titles, it's a gamble for U.S. distributors, but time is not on their side in these matters. Until the U.S. companies like Funimation are willing to get the titles in much earlier, this cycle is still going to continue. Of course, if all the U.S. companies go to doodoo, I hope the Japanese companies can realize the extra profit in putting English subs on their DVDs and Blurays.

You can put me down for a set. I am in agreement that the chest cannons probably don't need the mod, especially if it's going to save on cost. How about pricing for the Frontier shoulder cannon piece?

That's what I would definitely order to keep, a CF 171.
