MacrossWorld Convention 2012 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Little less than 19 hours until online purchase for the poster raffle is closed. -
I disagree with most of it being bad, and just chalk it up to people probably getting a little too old in their thinking, but as far as buying it, I go to CD Japan for my imports, and the usual rightstuf.com, Amazon, Ebay, and even Best Buy if I get lucky enough to catch something I'm looking for. Other than that, I use Netflix to watch a lot of it, to find the interesting shows.

Congrats on the new addition. That definitely takes precedence. Two more days to get your online orders for the two autographed posters. -
I wish I had taken pictures of the fix for mine. Taking off those screws and inserting the styrene into the body where the flap joint is made it really solid, and even after dozens of transformations, works like a charm. Edit: Not to mention, there's no glue mess, no blue tack, and you can't see the part inside that makes it hold right.

OK all, I have some great news. With special thanks to Satelight Inc. they have donated posters from their production of Macross Frontier "Sayonara no Tsubasa", signed by Shoji Kawamori himself. When I get these posters in, I will upload pictures of them. I will be holding a raffle for these posters. I am going to open up the raffle this monday for members here to purchase raffle tickets. You do not need to be present at the Macrossworld con to win, but you do need to be an actve member of this forum to buy raffle tickets. If you are not a member, but are planning on going to Macrossworldcon 2012, you may by raffle tickets the day of the con. Tickets bought the day of the con must be present to win, and tickets will be color coded to differentiate. Now, the cost of each ticket is $4 for tickets purchased online, and the day of the convention. If you are interested in purchasing tickets, they will be available for purchase Monday at noon online. If you are interested, I will be replying only to pm messages, and in the order I receive them. Simply tell me you’re interested in the raffle, and how many tickets you want. I’ll provide the payment info, along with your raffle ticket numbers, that will have your screenname, and your real name on them and will be inserted into the drawing. Each poster will have a separate drawing, so if you don’t get one, there’s a chance for another. I promise, pictures of the posters will be provided as soon as they come in from Japan. Winners that bought raffle tickets online will be notified via pm message, and it will be announce the evening after the convention here. There will be no postage to pay for the winner. Winners who bought the at the convention, will be mentioned here as well. Again, these prizes are brought to you by Satelight Inc. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Mr. Kawamori and his staff for providing these donations. Kawamori, I’m sure, is a very busy man, and for him to want to provide these for the fans of Macrossworld, it is an honor and a priviledge to have him take the time. From all of us, thank you. So, purchases begin at noon. Let the game begin. -

Seeing this thing really makes me want the Yamato version. This one, while a very good job, just seems too big. -
It still seems a bit thin to me.

MacrossWorld Convention 2012 Information Thread

I think it really depends on the size of the room. If attendees are bringing some things to sell, and there's vendors, as long as there's room for everyone, and displays, and all that, I'm fine with whomever. -
I can see the sense in people buyig multiples of CF versions, or multiples to make Diamond Force, or Emerald Force, but multiples of a specific character, IMO, is just a waste of space, unless they're going to be sold. Just my opinion.

So, I finally get an email, after 5 days of no response, claiming they "forgot to update the shipping status", and low and behold, it arrives today. I think they didn't get on it until I sent out my email to them, and waited until it was in customs to let me know they decided to send it. Kinda annoyed, but at least it's here.

I saw Exo's figure with the heat shrink tubing. It's solid, and pretty cool All I have left, is my Schtick figure. Plan to keep that one.

Mine still says it's being processed, and no response to either of two emails.

The modeling gods probably don't like me very much...

Worst places to paint, are in extremely hot, and humid places, especially if you're going for a fine finish. In hot days, either do it in early morning, or towards the evening. Mid 70s is a good temp and low humidity will usually produce good results. At worst case, lightly sand your primed areas, and clean out the panel lines. 9 times out of 10, things can be corrected when they don't go right the first time. -
Thanks, I put it up, referenced you, and provided the link here. Great stuff.

I asked what the holdup was, but as it's been almost 24hrs., I have yet to get a response. Still, I find it odd that it takes this long for them to ship. Even with HLJ, when I'm one of the later ones who pay, the item is processed and out the door in two days. They are either poorly organized, or didn't acquire enough of these, and are trying to get them from other locations, once again. So far, I definitely wouldn't suggest using them, but as one said, hit and miss. For me, I prefer not to take chances like that.
-
I paid for mine on the 28th of September.Edit: I just sent them an email putting them on point. While normally I'm cool with a wait while they sort their stuff out, the fact that some people who paid after me already have shipping and tracking notices, that irks me to no end. This probably is going to be my last purchase from them, unless I get a perk, or great explanation why.

One of the best posters I've seen yet, and your cast pick is awesome. I think I would have picked almost the exact same, almost. Awesome work. BTW, would you mind if I share it with a FB group? I'd like to give proper credit here.

Definitely a big birthday shot out to Macross, and to a franchise that has made many of us so happy all these years. That's no light thing, and after 30 years, it's still going strong. Happy Birthday, MACROSS!!!
-
I'm getting kinda pissed at NY, as they have had mine in processed for a week now. 1st and last time for Nippon Yassan for me. I should've received mine already.
-
Mine was loose as well, and there was a piece of styrene that was cut and put in under the screws, and it's solid now.
-
OK, so then...

I'm going to Macrossworld con 12 for my celebration. Watched the DYRL screening, and that will probably be about all for me. I'd try to do the chronological order, but after doing it once, it's a bit much. I think with the massive amounts of toys I've bought, I'm thoroughly celebrating. I am working on a couple projects though. Don't know if they'll be done by the year, but definitely in celebration of.
