  1. I have a feeling this is more of a price dictated by ESP, than Yamato. While I do know, and am sure it'll be much more than $300, it's probably what it's worth as far as equipment, features, and so on. Well, maybe in the $400 range, but the point being, is that for me, the sound of an ESP, and the fact that this is more of a discussion piece than an actual instrument, doesn't add up. I wouldn't compare toys to instruments. It's a totally different field, and value and pricing is based on totally different things. For the toys, I know I can buy them, and sell them at around the same price, or more than I paid for them. Instruments are different. You have supply, location of build, tone, and of course, build features (bridge, fret wood, body finish, wood grain, and all that). Then after all that, there usually is a star reference that coincides with making the specific model popular. For example, the strat that Fukuyama uses, is almost identical, if not, is the same that Stevie Ray Vaughn used. It's a well tested American Strat, and has Fender's top components which give it a classic fender sound that people expect. For that, Nekki probably got a good deal on his guitar, as they usually sell for $1200 + here. If it's a vintage model, even more pricey. For my PRS, I spent $4K on it, but again, it's hand made, top wood grains, and special fretboard wood. It's a brand used by many famous guitarists, and the tone is amazing. I've seen some 5 years older, selling for the exact same amount as a new one, because it has all that. I'm not trying to toot a horn here, but I'd hate for someone to buy this as a "collector's item", and down the line when they try to sell it, can't get what they paid for it. That said, if it's something you plan to keep, all this means zero. The joy of buying something that you really want is a great thing. I will in no way, knock anyone for buying this item. I stand by the fact that it's a beautiful replica. If anyone is wanting to buy one, and learn to play guitar on it, I'm sure I, along with several others here, can suggest comparable alternatives. Fukuyama does use Fender, and they are very good brands. If you want that Fukuyama sound, it's easy to get.
  2. I may get these, but probably not all of them. Kinda hard to get interested in this all over again. At least work is close to the store where I'd pick them up.
  3. If they do a revamped YF-19, you can definitely count me in. I've since sold mine to the wind.
  4. So, the original 10 ARE going to be re-released to the general Japanese public (meaning I can buy these at my local Kinokuniya store in L.A.)?
  5. That's good to know the project is still coming along. I thought it was going into vaporware status, being that the last post prior to these two was about a year ago.
  6. I agree...It really does come down to price point. IF it comes to about $300 or less, it may not be so bad. Like you, I have my set of guitars I play with on stage, at home, and around. I use a PRS on stage and sometimes at home, but for home use, I normally use a Gibson Les Paul. For acoustic stuff, I have a Martin that took me forever to find, but it has the sound I want. As I don't think I'll be wearing any fishnet stuff, or tall white boots on a colony ship, so if it's pricey, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.I will say this, it is an ESP guitar, and some of the hardware on it looks pretty pricey, so I doubt it'll be an inexpensive "Fender Squier" priced guitar. In my two cents, I never got the reason why some people drool over ESP guitars. I never thought they had a great sound. The sustain kinda sucks, and compared to the American strat, the Les Paul, or the PRS brands, ESP never measured up to any of those. I will say though, this replica guitar looks sweet, and it makes me think of Totsugeki Love Heart, or Planet Dance.
  7. I'd be interested in it, but I am not going to buy one. It's not a guitar I'd take out playing a gig, and I'm pretty sure there's many other guitars that are less priced that have better tone, sustain, etc, etc. I was debating this item for awhile now, and I just can't justify owning one. Resale on them will most likely be pretty bad, and aside from being a Macross item, IMO, it doesn't hold any other weight.
  8. I'll throw n my $0.02 here, and quickly say that I'd buy several sets of molded grey Yamato sets if they made them. Also, I love the customs on the Yamato link. So, just found out my Christmas present is one of my VF-4s being bought by my wife. This made my day.
  9. It's all current music mostly, which isn't bad, but really only highlights that a bunch of people who don't know the old stuff won't vote for it.
  10. Got all 5 sets of mine today. Strike part MADNESS!!!

    Macross 30

What are some other sites to look for the LE version? I'd like to get that on preorder.
  12. I will say this...I have a few friends that were Macross fans growing up, and keep semi up-to-date with Macross and other anime, and they had no idea this was even coming. To add, a couple of them didn't even know where this was shown in the shows. That said, I think this is geared more towards the die-hard fans, not the ones just wanting a couple valks to fulfill some nostalgia. I don't think we're going to see a huge turnout for these. It's also a double edge. If they sell too well at this price, then it tells Yamato that people will pay that much for toys. If not, they don't make them.
  13. 5 orders of these on the way to me. Can't wait.
  14. I'm doing nothing but flooding my room with boxes of valkyries and books, but soon (6 mos.???) we'll be in a much, much bigger house and I can have a room for display and hobby stuff only. Even the walk-in closet is big enough to display stuff.
  15. Anybody have a clue if they're going to make Tornado packs for the VF-25G? I've got the super parts for the F, Armor parts for the S, wanna keep the RVF bare, and I want Tornado pack for the G.
  16. Good coverage of the convention. Definitely want to thank everyone who set this up, sold stuff, and donated stuff. Thanks to the professional vendors, and thank you Satelight for your contributions in helping us to keep this going. I think next year, we're going to pass the 200 attendee mark. It'll be the 31st anniversary, and on a side note, it'll be Mospeada's 30th.
  17. I agree. Unfortunately, what's in my display cases arent toys on display, just boxes with the toys inside them. Using one room as an office, library, dresser for close room and display cases, there isn't a lot of space for anything specific. I really want to put up pictures of the cels and posters that I have as well.
  18. I know he uses that rifle whent they get stuck in the subway, but I don't know the episode names.
  19. I have no clue what it is, or what's in it.

    Macross figures

I sooooo want that Mylene figure in Ranka outfit. I'm getting one whether or not there is a group buy. There's only 2 or 3 that I know of, but this one takes the cake.
  21. The VE-1 first release had good shoulders, and was one of the first valks to include the new crotch attachment. This one shouldn't be muc different. With the exclusion of the canopy tint, I prefer my VE-1 than this one. I do want the attachment parts though. Oh well.
  22. Saw it at my local Kinokuniya. I'll probably pick it up next time I go into work.
