MacrossWorld Convention 2013 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
That shirt is a must have. Love the desing on it. Is the shirt white, or light blue? -
I don't think that's a good deal for you. It's way too high for a v.1, especially consigering you could've gotten one of the renewal 25, or the new Arcadia version VF-1 series for about the same. I wouldn't be able to justify that purchase in my opinion, but it really comes down to how much you want it.

Looks good. What green did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm caught up on Attack on Titan. I like it a lot. I wouldn't say I love it, but it's very good, and worth the watch. Just got done with season 2 of Hakuoki, which is supposed to be a historically accurate tale, mixed with fantasy of the Shinsengumi. If anyone knows the history of the Shinsengumi, then you kinda know what happens in general. Waiting to watch season 3 of that. My wife and I have put off watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood till we had a chance to watch all of it, and now that we do, we are going through that pretty quick. I gotta admit, I like this version better than the first incarnation of the story. Up next for myself, I'll be diving into Girls und Panzer. I have no idea what it's about, but I've heard mixed things on it, so I'm gonna give it a try. -
I think it may devalue the ones that Arcadia re-releases. However, as of now, Arcadia has yet to release anything, so prices haven't shifted too much. However, logically, if you are looking to buy a VF-1S Roy, just off the top, would you spend $150 for the 30 anniversary Yamato, or the new Arcadia that also has a stand. If Arcadia gets more involved in Macross releases, some can take their chances selling off older valks in chances that Arcadia will make it, but I think the idea will be that once it's announced, you might have waited too long already. I will say this...I am glad I sold off my YF-19 ealy enough. I doubt I'd get what I got for it if I tried to sell it now.

New Macross F BD Digital Remaster Boxset - TV series
Jasonc replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
That's really too bad. Macross Frontier has gained quite a large following here in the U.S., as evident in a few conventions. Personally, I've worn a few Frontier shirts, and I get comments on them all the time. There is a demand for subs on these, and I know for me personally, I'd buy these again if it had them. It'd be a reason to get them, and would be drive for what seems like a good number, to get the box set. I know for our anime group here in SoCA, it'd mean several units sold without question. I don't understand why they wouldn't do this. I'm sure they're aware of the inability to put them out worldwide without some other specific company getting their panties in a bunch, but subs are the great proverbial middle finger to that company, and with e-tailers being the equalizer for us getting these Blurays, it's a perfect match for making this work.- 104 replies

I never read all of them, just as a young kid, but even then, it may not be so much the novel content, then it is about JT's delivery. He makes it fun, and that's hard to do for a franchise that's spent most of its time in a crapper.

I listened to ep.0 yesterday, and it sounds very promising. Even if you don't like HG but you grew up with Robotech, it's a great show. None of the hoopla politics, none of the drama. Just good fun.

I'm still waiting for the Tornado parts set. Once I get those, I'll have the S in the Armor, Alto's with fast packs, Michel's w/ (hopefully) Tornado packs, and Luca's w/ the RVF fast packs w/ transponders and ghosts. Oh, and waiting on that CF A bare. A display of most options in Frontier.

If they really wanted to make these a "Special Version", why not add the strike packs to the box? I have them for the Yamato versions, but c'mon.
-
Or Gerwalk, I mean who would really use that mode?
-
It seems like they needed to do this. The 19 was one of those valks that just needed to be done, especially in light of the fact that the Kai, the F, S, and P all are pretty epic in engineering. However, this is just off the hook. I love all those weapons and accessories. This cannot come out fast enough. Edit: I also need the big arm cannon for this release to take out my paper Monster.

I definitely see the trend forming around guys and gals collecting and branding sci-fi, comic, and fantasy memorabilia. It's been going on for a few years now, and seems to be more the norm everyday. At my previous house, I had a nice display in my office, and people that came in, and didn't know anything about it thought it was great. Some of it, I think is the way it's displayed. They weren't out like a bunch of toys, but thoughtfully arranged in a somewhat artistic manner, that made it look like art in toys, rather than just display cases as a toy box. Maybe it's just me, but I never had to tell anyone it was something else, other than it's my collection of toys (if they even asked). More often, it was comments on how great it looked, the business as usual.
-
Usually, I ask strangers if they want any water or something to drink. Then, it's business as usual.
-
So, aside from a decal sheet and a stand, it's virtually the same thing as the Yamato release?
-
It makes me want to keep going with these comments. I just need my software to pic it up and continue. That's what frustrates me, is that I want to continue, but can't at this moment.

Don't need 3, but I do need one. Great news.

Don't worry about it. There aren't a lot of people who actually purchased this kit back in the day. It was quite expensive back in what, 2000? If you can find one, and want to buy one, they can be up in the $200-$300 range, from what I gather. Either way, I put in the request for my updated programs, so if they come through, I'll be back in business.

Got to meet some great Macross cosplayers tonight, and take pics of them. I really hope all of you get to come to the Macrossworld convention in October. Those cosplays were awesome. On a side note, scored a very odd object...A top of the Macross Pachinko game. Here it is It has the plug ins to light up and everything. Also got a bunch of Sheryl figurines for the collection, and a Minmay dressed up as Sheryl, and a Sivil cel that will go up in the cel thread in the collection thread.

This hasn't been updated in a long time, but as of now, I don't have Solidworks, so I have not done any updates in awhile. I'm hoping to get Solidworks 2013, and can start up again with this project. Also still researching hinges, ratcheted joints, and so on for this project. I don't know if anyone has an interest in helping, but if you have the 1/100 scale S.H.E. VA-3 kit, and want to help with parts, send me a pm. I don't want this project to fall by the wayside, and I've been getting itchy to get back into this.
