I've thought of a couple ways. One will cost more, but will have the landing gears made of metal and some rubber gaskets. The other is to design them all in plastic, which won't be as structurally resilient as the metal, but will be there. When the time comes, I'm going to look and see if there are any hobby companies that make generic landing gear to build the kit around. Options still available.

So, today is Wednesday, and here's the update. slow build of the VA-3 gunpod. Most of the reason is me building up some speed again to be more productive. Nevertheless, this is just the rear part of it, and currently building the buttpad for the stock. Like the kit, I plan to build this in several pieces, not only for painting, but to have some detail in each piece. To add, I'd like to make it work like it's supposed to, with the Gatling barrel front hand guard being able to swivel up and down, as well as the shoulder part of the stock. In order to do that, I may have to cut this in half to design the pieces to slide, and some pieces for the forward hand guard. Anyways, nuff said. here's only part of it, and early on. Tweaks to come ahead.

I know, and I hope you know that my post wasn't directed directly at you. I'd just hate for this thread to be turned into anything that gives too much attention to a company not worth mentioning in it. We can thank the emergence of E-commerce, and the production of Bluray and its formats, for making this really possible. There's really only so long at the rate the world was going, that these things would erase the lines of what we could see and not.- 287 replies

Macross Frontier Movies BD Boxset WITH ENGLISH SUBS!

I'm only going to mention this once, as I don't think HG needs any mentioning regarding this news. There are a million and one reasons why Bandai/BW want to put english subs on their Macross releases. Japanese fans who want to improve english, English speakers living in Japan, American soldiers in bases on Japanese soil, or simply because they feel like it and that's a new standard. Either way, HG does not have jurisdiction in Japan, nor do they have rules over the use of the English language. HG thinking they'd be able to stop this is like telling an employee at Big West, that they cannot speak Japanese when coming to the U.S. It's that frivolous. That said, we all know the legal issues with rights, so let's not bother talking about HG and their position. This really has nothing to do with them. IMO, I don't even want to bother hearing about them when it comes to this great news. This isn't about them, it's about Macross. Just my $0.02 on the matter.- 287 replies

Macross Frontier Movies BD Boxset WITH ENGLISH SUBS!

This is great news. Think of this as a platform that can spring forth many other great things. When I put out a loose question here several years ago to see who'd spend money on Macross DVD/Blurays if they released english subs, I didn't expect the large response that'd ensue following. Well, I consider this a chance for us to show Bandai, BW, and whomever is invested in this that we are an economic force worth investing in. I see this as a springboard to have DYRL, Zero, Frontier series, and even 7 come with subs. That's what I believe, that's my hope. In either case, I'm in for a set or two (birthday present to someone).- 287 replies

Using Solidworks 2013. I should probaby take a class on doing some tricks that'd help me out greatly, but that may come soon. I'll probably need help soon from some of the Solidworks gurus here. There are some parts that are heavily curved, need panel lines (or whatever Solidworks calls them), and they have plenty of various grades in their slopes and all that complicated stuff. Stuff that's beyond me. I've had some people offer other services to help this project along, and I'm very thankful for that. It'll still progress, as I'll describe in the update below. And if all this works out well, a 1/72 maybe available, but when I get to extra materials for the build, I don't know how well the scale will work with those said materials. They may need to be tweaked a bit, but theoretically should work. Thanks. It's great to know there is a group of you guys virtually cheering me on. Definitely helps with the drive and determination. I do have the regular line art that is found online and in the Kawamori book, but if anyone has any line art that is hard to find, or I may not have, if you'd be so kind as to let me know, it may help me out. Now, onto the latest update...No pics yet. Mostly just measuring the dimensions of the gun pod for the VA-3, and seeing how I can enhance it aside from just being a stiff piece of plastic. I love the look of it, as it's pretty odd looking and suits the design of a VA, and not a VF. There won't be any more designing this weekend, as I have family coming from out of town, but Monday, with no Dr. appointments, no errands to run, and most of my laundry done, should be a great start of a productive week for this (fingers crossed and knock on wood). I also need to research the connector point for the pod to the Invader, and make that work like the Bandai and Arcadia/Yamato stuff works. As a bonus, since the Invader is geared more for underwater operations than the VF series, I am designing some ordinance that looks more like hi tech torpedoes to mount onto it. I know you guys wanna see the frame of the Invader more so than the extras, but these are getting me back in, and getting my skills updated and enhanced so that I can do that. Rather do some simpler stuff and still do this, than work on something else and have no updates. Hope to have an update with some pics on Wednesday, Friday latest.

That's OK. it's really an anime magic looking mecha, and I know you need to keep the balance between anime accurate, and functionality. I'm more surprised that I typed a response that sounded like I was drunk, or at least my typing was. Nevertheless, can't wait to get the kit. There's a couple ideas I want to see if I can do, to maybe enhance and prolong the joint pieces. BTW, love the way the molds came out. -
Awww, that's sad news indeed. Don't know if I ever had any real conversations with the guy, but even though, I always feel a connection with people here who love the same things I do. He seemed like a nice guy, and it's sad to hear this news. I'll definitely keep his family in prayer and I hope he's now flying in his favorite Valkyries and reaching beyond the sky.

I'm very excited about the Masei helmet. Can't wait to get mine. They look really good, and the way they're going, as long as I can get it by September, I'll be happy.

I just want it for Michel's 25. I've been wanting to display them all in unique armor and packs. Alto's in the Super pack, Ozma in the Armor pack, Michel's in the Tornado, Luca in the Super pack w/ the drones, and the CF version bare. C'mon Bandai, get with it.
-
Anybody wanna take a guess on when they release the Tornado pack for the renewal version?

Hmmm, ball joints mean posability. I have to great ideas for this. -
And yet, amongst both communities and within both niche franchises, Veritech is the status quo term for Robotech, and Valkyrie has been the term associated with Macross. Technicalities don't do a whole lot of justice with what maybe considered social norms in these two franchises.
-
Since this franchise is pretty much dead to me except for making fun of, I really have no interest in anything Robotech, be it fan projects or official release. I will admit that calling it the "Valkyrie Project" with a Robotech title is mildly annoying. Now, onto the work itself, The animation is OK. The camera angling is good. The CG looks a little blocky and video game-like, but it's something that can be worked on as it goes forward. Thumbs up, man.

Just got mine in today, and overall, at least it has a stand. Aside from that, it's just another VF-1S. Box art is whatever, the bright white is whatever, so overall, whatever. Wake me when they come out with the Max and Milia 1J, or something new.
-
Just transferred the file to the updated version, and cleared up the errors it gave, so I hope to have some more pieces done next week. Might work on some different parts, like maybe the gun, just to motivate me.

Got my set yesterday, and it's a really good set. Glad they wised up and put all 3 ghosts together in one pack. Just sold one of the older sets with one ghost for $75, so it mostly paid for this.
-
Mine is on the way as well. Strange that I'll now have two, and need to get rid of one.
-
Finally, an update!!! Got the updated, very nice working CAD software to continue on with the project. Since I haven't had working software in a long time, I have gotten a little weak at any skill I had. Nevertheless, with a newer software and a fixed up computer, the project will resume...

This opened up a great opportunity. Just preordered mine as well with this price.

Ugh, missed the NY payment by a couple hours, and was SOL. However, they JUST opened it up again, and was able to jump in for one. If you missed out, check over there and see if they're still available....yes, still available ow for the RVF-25 armored renewal parts and ghost set.
