  1. I wouldn't use this to be considered a change in trend. Frontier had plenty of this "manservice", as you call it. Actually, many series have it, and it's been around for quite sometime. As Macross is geared for both boys and girls, I doubt they'd tip the balance to start drawing in one, and alienating another
  2. You are very correct. I think a lot of people, somewhere in the middle of the series, seem to stop paying attention to it, or maybe their patience grows thin for the long series. Personally, I've watched through this 4 times, and just started a week ago to watch it again. From my own observations of the series, every one of the main characters goes through a sort of transformation in this same sense. Mylene goes through it as well. The entire band goes through it as a whole, as even Gamlin does. There's a lot of character development and changes to them as the series progresses. Despite it being catered to a younger audience, between the character depth and a deeper plot beneath the exterior, I rather enjoy the series. Would I expect this new series to be just like 7, absolutely not. However, I do expect them to continue with quality in the character they develop. That seems to be a great staple in the Macross franchise that I find, keeps me interested in each series, give or take. Next up would be great valk designs. That wasn't always the case, but maybe maturity has reversed the level of importance for me.
  3. Thanks. It wasn't anything that a little bit of time and caution won't fix. I'm up and about now, so I'm getting back to normal. Still working on the gun piece, and thinking of how I can get certain pieces to move properly. This maybe the easiest part to work on, so I'm thinking of using those steel pins that Yamato used in their VF-1 v.2s. Those should be easy to find in hobby stores and/or online. Also bought some earth magnets for when I start putting some pieces together, just so that I have options.
  4. Thanks, guys. OK, that's not too far off.
  5. That would hamper the joy of an item. I have both, and the VF-4 is still in a class all it's own. Of course, this is just my opinion. Individual results may vary.
  6. While I do like the engineering that went into the 19, and all the accessories, it's still an updated version, so already, my excitement level is limited. However, the VF-4 was something I had waited forever for, and the engineering is completely new, and it is simply amazing how it doesn't look like it's supposed to transform, and yet does. I hope Arcadia re-releases that, but gets the FB2012 license. In hindsight, I wonder if that's why Yamato didn't get the FB license, cause they were already strapped for cash? Nevertheless, Arcadia, bring it back.
  7. They do some great work. That's cool that they have the difference in the design for both models. That actually helps. Haven't had any updates as I was in the hospital for awhile with major surgery, and the recovery process has taken awhile. I'm up and about now after a couple months, and should get back into it shortly.
  8. For your poll, I would definitely go for the blue/grey launch arm color that was on the Yamato release, and black. Also, for the stand you posted on the poll, is that the base it'd come with, or would it be the UN Spacy and SMS base?
  9. I haven't looked through the entire board here, but is there an estimated release date for this?
  10. Hell, if anything, this will be a time for my wallet to take a breather while it recoups from the Chronos, and the Prophecy, as well as the Tornado parts, and the Isamu YF-29 armor parts.
  11. I love the design, and will order one, but that's the biggest flaw, complaint I have with this design. The tail fins just bother me to no end. The pilot would need to worry about any gritty fighting, cause if he fell on his back, he's not transforming afterwards and flying out of the combat.
  12. I don't think this is going to be a large release to begin with, so any sales numbers outside Japan would be significant.
  13. I feel like playing a horn to make it dance out of a basket, as I put it in a trance.
  14. You know what will be really funny? To find out just how far off base we all are in our expectations (more or less). I have things I'd like to see in this, but what I really want more than anything, is simply quality. They put great characters into a great story and have bonuses of mecha action in it, I'm good as fresh gravy.
  15. I really want to get this, but as I'm saving up for a possible trip to Japan this year, I'm not sure if I am going to get it. I'd be sold for certain, if it had dub or even the US Renditions dub attached to it, like Plus did with their BD. That said, as I doubt that will happen, I'll probably stick to my US Manga release and wait and see if this release gets any less as time goes.
  16. It's limited in each individual post. You can probably post them as you go, and have no issues.
  17. The mounting parts are slightly different, enough to where if you want the original to work, you would need to do some work on remaking the connectors. The overall size of the first Yang is significantly larger than the new one. I think putting the old head on the new one would make him look like an olive on a toothpick. I'm just gonna work with the back side of the old Yang. See what I can do with that.
  18. All I'm gonna say is, WOW!!!
  19. Definitely not made for someone like me.... a male.
  20. Yep, just got mine in as well, and I must say, it's a beauty. To address a couple of the people who hit the panic button when a piece of lint flies past their face, it's a solid toy. I've inspected mine, and there seems to be no issues with mine. The feet shouldn't be a problem unless you absolutely have to extend, and keep the feet extended, and the color of the diecast parts and plastic is uniform throughout. I did try the fold booster Yang, and alas, he's quite larger than the new version, and barely fits in the rear seat. The rear canopy doesn't close all the way with him in the back seat, so, unless you trim the part where he sits, he won't fit back there. I may end up doing that, as I like that version much better.
  21. I'm not one to make suggestions, especially on someone's project, and you probably know better, but have you tried maybe recessing the part where the arm connects with the base, to integrate the into a more distinct kite symbol?
  22. I have my old Yang and the fold booster set ready to test when I get mine in today. It's on the way. Any transforming vids up yet?
  23. If these end up working well enough, I will get a few as well. BTW, that material are they printed in?
