  1. OK, there's good news and bad news (mostly good). So, the good news is, the plastic, when it cures, is flexible enough to where it will withstand bending the angled wings out of the mold. The bad news is, the mold was cut in the wrong area, and will need to be redone. That said, there is a bonus to that bad news. I think there is a much better, safer way to create this mold without having to even worry about pulling the angles wings out, and that is by creating a mold that creates a cover of just the inside top. It will require a new mold, and a bit of fiddling to get the resin in the crevices, but it should work. I will be starting build up of it tonight. Again, sorry for the delay. This will probably need to be done on the 1/72 as well with that wing section.
  2. Any updates on your projects? I'm gonna check up on your shapeways when I get home, but til then, hope to see the 1X++ stuff, (if you're doing that).
  3. Going for it. I just made a nice gaping hole in the wing mold to pour the resin to make sure it all gets in there, so tomorrow is judgement day. I'm using a pretty solid resin too, with a little flexibility in it, so we'll see. It's good stuff. If all works well, I can start on those while continuing the molds for the 1/72.
  4. Thanks guys. I'm going to attempt a pour tonight and see how that turns out once it's fully cured. If it pops out OK, then no issues and I can proceed. If it breaks, I'm gonna have to rethink the mold, or maybe discuss redoing the part. Either way, I'm going to do this with some mold release in those areas with the pressure that will be caused during the release, and hopefully that will ease them coming out.
  5. I did the giant wing last, and just on the design and angle of the wings, I'm a bit worried that these are not going to come out of the mold too well. I will definitely see what results I get, but if it doesn't work well, I'm gonna have to figure this out. Don't worry guys. Don't hit any panic buttons. Where there's a will there's a way. Work on the 1/72 starts tomorrow.
  6. BTW, here's the book by Thomas Romain. He signed mine and drew a nice pic on the inside of the Bentenmaru from Bodacious Space Pirates. Highly recommended book.
  7. I kept hearing my cat throughout the entire podcast. Man he just likes to be a mic hog. And yes, there were some rough parts, but it's because we were walking around all day, and then had to organize our battered and tired bodies to do this. It turned out alright. I'm proud of it. Hope you all are entertained. I did laugh quite a few times through it (while at work) and got some strange looks. Thanks Gwynn for the editing, which I don't remember how much was done, but it came out quite good.
  8. No problem. As of today, the 1/60 molds are done. have to do some work on them to finish them up, but I'll be testing those out shortly.
  9. Quick update... I'm almost done with the 1/60 drone, and the 1/72 is right behind it. Luckily I got faster curing rubber, or I'd still be midway through the first kit. I will begin color matching the resin very soon for the 1/60 and 1/72 scale parts. I have the decals ready for print, but haven't actually done that yet, as I need new ink. Those will be done this week though. Stay tuned.
  10. Sorry it took so long. It's hard to see with the color it is.
  11. Ah, OK. I thought about it after I posted and thought it might be from the movie, but couldn't remember if that was done in the t.v. show as well. Good to know. Thanks for the clarification.
  12. I'll post it up once I get home from work.
  13. Yes, it's from a dated resin kit. It's not the greatest kit of Misa, but it does come with a 1/1 scale song plate, the one that she translates for Minmay when she sings Ai Oboeteimasuka (sp?) To me, that's the real prize of that kit.
  14. I'm trying to get the clear canopy thing for this. Was the mass production unit with a clear canopy, or is it just for gits and shiggles? I do like it, just a bit confused as to where it came from. If from the movie, no problem. I just don't remember.
  15. More. Just posting for sake of letting you guys know that I'm not slackin, lol.
  16. More work done last night. More to do today. The work continues. Small parts are halfway done (the molds)...right intake cover is done. The wing is going to be a nightmare to recast, but it'll get there.
  17. Not much, but I'm happy with them. All at a very good price, too.
  18. Very excited for this one. I like this one over the 0S simply because of the real world coloring to it. These releases are killing the wallet though.
  19. There really isn't any loss in detail. The rubber forms around the plastic with minimal shrinkage, and will create an exact copy. My only challenge is that these are complicated pieces to recast, so creating a good angle and pour spot are crucial. Going to do some of the smaller parts today, and the tail and intake.
  20. OK, it's not a lot of progress, but I'm working with a stronger, longer lasting rubber with a quicker curing time, so that I can get the same quality, but at a faster pace. so far, it looks like it's coming out well. the pressure tank is doing well in keeping bubbles out of it. This one just needs the resin pour spout.
  21. At this point, you might as well demand a refund and write on the blacklist thread, especially since there's been no communication in so long, yeah, it's probably been well past refund time.
  22. Hoping to. Gotta work on one part, but the rest will be gearing for a great recast.
  23. I now have the parts, and have been doing some assessment on how to best recast these parts. Since I'm working 9-12 a day, This week has been shot, but I will be doing some of the molds this weekend. At the same time, I'm going to be testing the dye to get the right orange.
  24. If you use metal hinge pins, like Yamato, you can probably search amazon, and see what would work best, or in the case of the Yamato pins (the good ones), I can take a measurment and tell you what pins those are. I'll need to get my digital caliper out for them, but those are in mm. For the wing to not droop, there's an easy design to prevent that, that would make it flush with the body when deployed, but be able to fold inward only. Don't remember the exact term for the design, but I'm sure you are already aware of it, Xigrid. I'd be more worried about the landing gear. That's work.
  25. In thinking of how it could work, if there's line art of where the boosters connect, I'd maybe make them to where they connect via friction (ala the hardpoints on the Arcadia wings on two ends or where they're supposed to fit. For the folding wings, maybe designing a place for a metal hinge like the older V.2 Yamato??? Just quick ideas.
