  1. Finally got my hands on these (well the SDF one is my second). Got them at different times, and for less than $60 for both. I don't think the person selling them knew what he had. The third poster is an ad poster for the contest to find the next Macross singer.
  2. Here's what's going on with the molds. These aren't all of them, just the few that are readily available (not in the garage). I have two that are half way done (3 including the 1/72 wing shown, and so I'm about done with them all. Sorry for the bad picture. In other news regarding this, for those that ordered the 1/72 scale, what do you all think about getting the parts in the orange color? The reason I ask, is that at this point, there are two pieces I have little resin for to cast in a black/dark grey, and while I have plenty of resin, I'm not really wanting to split up the resin and try to figure out how much to separate for each scale. If the majority of you absolutely need it in white, I'll make the arrangements, but it'd make it much easier for me. In any case, let me know here. Thanks.
  3. Easy fix, buy a damn new one. What a pain. I have to take all the hardware that makes this work as a pressure tank, and use the plumbing tape, and redo a new one. No worries though. It won't stop the progress, I have a few pieces of 1/72, including the wing that needs to be done, so I can create molds while working on the new one. The rubber sets so slow, that it effectively gives me a chance to pour it with no bubbles in it. Also started color matching, so I think I'll be saving about 1 cup of parts A and B for what will be black color (or as close to it) and the other half for the non painted.
  4. Man, I'm now here with the popcorn and the movie. However, there seems to be a lot of really bad assumptions from a few here. Thanks for keeping it fun(ny) to read.
  5. I really should be, but I keep forgetting to get the camera out and snap shots. I'm waiting on Harbor Freight to get back to me as well. My pressure tank has a stripped clamp on it, so it's not holding any air pressure. I can still recast, but I have to be very careful in pouring the resin as to not create any bubbles. I'm hoping to get this fixed by next week sometime. Until then, I'll try to get some picks of the molds and the progress, especially once the pieces start coming out.
  6. OK, looks like it can work. The first trial was good. A few pieces didn't get all the resin, but that can be fixed with rotating the mold and giving it time to fill all the spots. I'll be doing more with it to ensure it is good to go. At the same time, the rest of the 1/72 molds are gonna take a little longer due to the fact that the rubber left is a longer setting mold (4 hours per mold. I should be able to do two pieces at a time). Work carries on, and pieces will be coming soon.
  7. I just poured the resin into the new mold, so I will find out in about an hour how well this came out. I haven't used the new print that Xigfrid mentioned, due to the original being salvageable, and not wanting to take a couple days just to clean up one piece. That said, the mold I did with the longer setting mold did look great. If the recast test comes out workable, we're in business.
  8. There's always someone who whines about someone doing something good out of the kindness of wanting to do it. Thanks, Gubaba. Can't wait to get some time to read this.
  9. Sorry, my bad. They're 1/64 scale. They're only 4 hundredths off, so it's almost irrelevant with something that size. Nevertheless, if you put those up for sale, I'd like to get one for certain (in FUD if you make that available).
  10. Like it, and I have some of those can remote cars. I'll make my decals, paint mine up, and control it around the house. Glad to see you did that. I did find display cars of the same model that are in 1/60 scale, but need to be repainted. They look like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lancia-Delta-Integrale-16V-Rallye-Monte-Carlo-1992-IXO-Altaya-1-43-/321863173275?hash=item4af08a449b I have a couple of these as well. One in red, the other in this color linked. I'll get this head piece too, once I have the money for it. Thanks.
  11. Yeah, it's definitely work. I'm going to get a longer setting rubber next time I'm out, as it will be better for the larger pieces. I do that on Monday hopefully, so I can redo the wing. I'm all out of rubber now, so I have to halt things for a few days. Luckily, I'm on vacation all next week, so I'll have time to push forward. In the meantime, the wing is being worked on, so that it's ready and durable for the next recast try.
  12. It works like a vacuum. You put your liquid resin, rubber, etc. into a chamber with a vacuum attached to it, and seal it. Once it's on, it sucks the air out of the liquids, leaving them just about bubble free. I have used the slow pour method, but with larger volumes of rubber, and a shorter cure time, the tank works great. On another note, my method would work, if the freakin' wall I had set it all in didn't break after I poured the rubber. It through the entre piece off alignment, and now I'm at a point where I need another gallon of rubber. Good news is, the method, had not been for that bit of unfortunate happenstance, would've been great, so I will do it again when I can get more. I'm going to continue the 1/72 molds with what little I have left of the rubber, and hopefully, pour some pieces once I get the colors right for the resin. Work will continue, just not for that large wing part yet.
  13. Well, technically, it was just the reception. They got married earlier in the day, then had an open house reception, which was fun. That said, still working on the foundation of this mold. I gotta make sure it's going to be strong enough, and make sure it'll fit in my small pressure tank. I don't have a degas machine, so I have to get rid of the bubbles after mixing. One day, I'll build one.
  14. Uni??? Not sure what that is. Sorry, maybe it's just that I have a lot going on. In any case, that's great to hear about the other program. Thanks for the update.
  15. Me too. It's still a bit of a risk if it'll work, but it looks like it should work. Off to sleep. I'll try to get some done tomorrow. Have a wedding to attend.
  16. Well, more than anything, I want this to be an easy job, so if I have to go through the rough stuff to make it easy, then might as well do it now before the other set is done.
  17. OK, there's good news and bad news (mostly good). So, the good news is, the plastic, when it cures, is flexible enough to where it will withstand bending the angled wings out of the mold. The bad news is, the mold was cut in the wrong area, and will need to be redone. That said, there is a bonus to that bad news. I think there is a much better, safer way to create this mold without having to even worry about pulling the angles wings out, and that is by creating a mold that creates a cover of just the inside top. It will require a new mold, and a bit of fiddling to get the resin in the crevices, but it should work. I will be starting build up of it tonight. Again, sorry for the delay. This will probably need to be done on the 1/72 as well with that wing section.
  18. Any updates on your projects? I'm gonna check up on your shapeways when I get home, but til then, hope to see the 1X++ stuff, (if you're doing that).
  19. Going for it. I just made a nice gaping hole in the wing mold to pour the resin to make sure it all gets in there, so tomorrow is judgement day. I'm using a pretty solid resin too, with a little flexibility in it, so we'll see. It's good stuff. If all works well, I can start on those while continuing the molds for the 1/72.
  20. Thanks guys. I'm going to attempt a pour tonight and see how that turns out once it's fully cured. If it pops out OK, then no issues and I can proceed. If it breaks, I'm gonna have to rethink the mold, or maybe discuss redoing the part. Either way, I'm going to do this with some mold release in those areas with the pressure that will be caused during the release, and hopefully that will ease them coming out.
  21. I did the giant wing last, and just on the design and angle of the wings, I'm a bit worried that these are not going to come out of the mold too well. I will definitely see what results I get, but if it doesn't work well, I'm gonna have to figure this out. Don't worry guys. Don't hit any panic buttons. Where there's a will there's a way. Work on the 1/72 starts tomorrow.
  22. BTW, here's the book by Thomas Romain. He signed mine and drew a nice pic on the inside of the Bentenmaru from Bodacious Space Pirates. Highly recommended book.
  23. I kept hearing my cat throughout the entire podcast. Man he just likes to be a mic hog. And yes, there were some rough parts, but it's because we were walking around all day, and then had to organize our battered and tired bodies to do this. It turned out alright. I'm proud of it. Hope you all are entertained. I did laugh quite a few times through it (while at work) and got some strange looks. Thanks Gwynn for the editing, which I don't remember how much was done, but it came out quite good.
  24. No problem. As of today, the 1/60 molds are done. have to do some work on them to finish them up, but I'll be testing those out shortly.
