  1. This isn't something new. The VF-25 had a limited version of that, and just using tech optics doesn't necessarily mean they are cyborgs. The BDI system is what was reserved for those on Galaxy with cyborg systems, which more or less allowed them to become the Valkyrie. There are two feet on these, so it's my guess that they're just very close together to make it look like one.
  2. +2. This topic just jumped a shark, and the news of the conference has been exhausted. hibernation time maybe? At least until more news comes.
  3. Isn't she so nice. "I've never played the game before" but she's my waifu". Kathy? (Most of you won't get this,,,, inside joke).
  4. Robotech has all the grit you need. Just pop in Shadow Chronicles, and let your nostalgia fly. I'm sure that franchise is thriving well with that formula.
  5. Half did it seemed, the other half had the same sort of sentiments expressed here. Frontier also had a new alien threat, that got the gritty fans happy about because they all wanted to see action like Starship Troopers. That, I do remember quite well.

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

If Bandai is taking over, it would be a sad day. Bandai's quality isn't as good between the Arcadia 19, and the Bandai 19 Advance. The engineering just seems overdone and too prone to floppy mishaps. That said, at least there'd be more stuff continuing.
  7. I had a chance to see this at MWcon in 1/72. It's the correct scale and all, but 1/60 would fit this much better with the attention that can be put into the detail. I wanna light up a 1/60 if these can get made.
  8. You've spoken to Flying Dog about this? Somebody might want to let them know that they aren't making money on music anymore, and should stick to advertising. The truth is, they (assuming you're talking about Satelight, the subsidiary of Sankyo) do make money off of the toys, music, and whatnot. They license the toys out to Bandai, who gives them money as a sponsor of the show, which funds production. The music is given to Flying Dog (the anime music label of Victor), in which they make CDs. I don't know through which venue, or how much money there is, but through all of it, there is money being made. This is how Frontier was done, and while it may not be every person's favorite series, it did extremely well. So well, in fact that even two months before the first episode airs on New Years Eve, there is still Macross Frontier merchandise being made and sold. Speaking of Macross Frontier, is it just me, or does this seem like a repeat of the same comments we heard before that came out? It is a business, and people don't go into business to lose money. If this sells, the mission is accomplished. I'm hoping for a great story, and if it is, that will be the biggest hurdle for me to get over. The mecha designs seem to hold up well, the characters, love them or hate them, seem like most of the other stuff, but that's what's selling. Give or take, if anyone is hinging on that alone, you may need to start looking now for another hobby, or buy up all the classic anime titles. Not trying to sound harsh, and this isn't directed at anyone in particular in this paragraph, it's just the classic MW.com panic button going off well premature.
  9. I honestly gotta say, I laugh every time I see someone whine about the girl idol group thing. Not interested? Don't worry, it wasn't made for you in the first place, so it's not like the sentiment matters to anyone for whom it was intended for. No need to change it, and I'll reserve my likes/dislikes of the series until it's being shown. As far as what I do see, I'm not stuck in the "What I grew up with is best" catalogue. I'm gonna keep my mind open to whatever it is that comes out. Hell, if I can watch Love Live and find it entertaining, I think I've expanded my horizon well beyond my nostalgia boundaries. I'm not saying everyone has to be on board with what they see. However, for us who live outside of Japan, we should all understand that, as I said above, this isn't made for us gritty westerners who need death, blood, and grit 100% of the time. I honestly believe that it's what makes the franchise successful. I'm sure we'll see some of that, but not in a way that many here may want or feel entitled to.
  10. I'm actually really liking what I'm seeing. The characters, IMO, don't look as good as the Frontier characters, but aside from a very Love Live looking character line up, I do love the valks. I think it'll have enough destroid action for some here, but if not, less grit monsters to worry about. I'm sure with this design for the world and the characters, it may do pretty well with the new audience that latched onto Frontier, and even the younger group. The resemblance of a Glaug and Regult, along with the Cheyenne should give some people the masculinity they need to watch anime. Pew pew! So far, I think my talking in jest about wanting an idol group and a dispute between a colony/colonies might be exactly what's happening (just based on the preview). I'm happy. I got what I asked for.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I stand corrected. It is forward wing design and angled down. Not my favorite, but looks sleek enough.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I don't think these are forward swept wings. I think they are downward angled, which without any dept to go on with the art, make it look like it's forward swept.
  13. That's gonna be some tight work, indeed. I like what I'm seeing though.
  14. This looks like a massive undertaking. How many other materials are you going to need for this?
  15. Maybe you didn't read through what I wrote, but these are first casts, which usually isn't one I would send out. I know what issues, but maybe you're expecting a toy from these, and that's not what these are. No worries. As stated, I know what needs to be done, so I don't need the help. I've been doing this long enough.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I love the look of it, but I was hoping to see something with the wings a bit more in a position to the center of the valkyrie. Not that this is a bad thing, but IMO, it does make it look a bit anorexic. I guess I can't really complain. It is the fashion. Still hella excited about the stream tonight, and the visuals to come. Great time to be a fan.
  17. There's two parts on it that need an easy fix, but I'll be spitting these out shortly. For those that got 1/72 scales, I hope to start getting them out this weekend. If not beginning of next weekend. Between this, I just got replacement cartridges for the printer, so decals will be ready to go. I know it's a lot of updates, but I'd hate being in the dark, so I'd rather have everyone here know that it's ongoing. BTW, I got a trial size of another resin that's less expensive, but much better quality. It's not expensive because it's a 1:5 ratio by weight resin, so it's a pain to get it right, but I'm looking at using this stuff for the next project if it goes well with a trial of this one. I didn't realize ease of measuring resin was a premium. Go figure.
  18. Thanks. It's a bad backdrop of a chair I know, but it was a quick photo job. The table is a pile of plastic and rubber junk.
  19. Sweet effin' success. the 1/72 wing came out as good as I can get it, which means some very clear lines, all is pretty damn straight, and it's all solid. While it needs cleanup due to the bubble release holes, I'm very happy with it. I'm going to replicate this for the 1/60, as I'm extremely happy with it. While this particular one has some different color in it, it's only from some of the clay, and the leftover from being the first cast. With this, 1/72s are in production mode.
  20. Just wanted to check in, and mostly say hi, but to see if you have any updates to any of your projects? Hope all is well.
  21. I was going to say hlj.com, but if that's not an option, maybe Nippon Yasan will put it back up for pre-order, but they are more expensive in the front end. I think they may let you declare your own value, but don't quote me on that. I've never had to do that.
  22. Sorry for the delays. I've begun work on recasting the 1/72 drones. I did have to redo 2 of the molds, but they are working great now. The wing will start recasting tomorrow once I put the fixes on that. I did manage to get a trial size of the onyx resin, which cures in a nice black color, so the camera part will not need to be painted, save for details. 1/60 parts are starting as well, but since I do need to paint just about every one of these, it's going to be awhile with those. So far, the results are good.
  23. Looks great. Awesome work. Can't wait to get one of these.
  24. Got my pre-order in late, but got it in. I'll party with the new arrival in December.
  25. At the new price, I can afford another 2, and then have a group, with one being the FB2012. Until we find out more about the licensing of that and what the possibilities are (or aren't), I'll hold off doing any custom work right away.
