    Macross figures

I get another Sheryl at the end of December, so I'm most likely going to be selling that one.
  2. I just ordered the head, but I was also gonna get some of the HMMs and noticed those are no longer there. Are those gonna come back?
  3. I'm really not into the speculation thing, but some things of similarity seem a bit interesting to note. In Zero, the wind played an important part in that series. Also, we were introduced to the SV-51, the SV being of the AU forces. I'm curious to see if there are ties to all of that. Seems like it will be an interesting story. Despite the panic here, it looks like there should at least be an underlying deeper story here. I'm guessing that there will be a mix of what will draw in new fans, and a story that connects the past ones as well.
  4. Holy....!!! That looks awesome. Great work Xigfrid. Looks like a very in depth kit to work on.

    Macross figures

I got a notice that the Dolife Dream Sheryl and Ranka have shipped. Stay tuned for a review, pics, and all that.
  6. QFT May be true, but it seems odd that if you don't like the anime, and don't seem to like hardly any of it in general, why spend so much time talking about how much you don't like it? I mean, there's certain subjects I don't care for here, but I don't post in them, advertising that I don't like it, or care for the subject. If you're into the Kawamori designs, that's fine. There's better choices of forums to hop into to discuss that, such as the toy section, where the designs are disected down to the width of panel lines. For the "mythology", there are other places for that as well, or if you haven't already, you can start a topic on that. I'd actually be a bit interested in that. Why you'd want to talk about the mythology that is tied to a story you don't care for though, it seems a little confusing I guess. ^^^ THIS!!! Thanks, Renato
  7. Not to sound rude, but I guess I can invalidate comments you make in regards to anime then? I'm not saying you have to be a fan as it doesn't matter to me, but why even bother wasting time commenting on something you aren't really a fan of?
  8. Then the next logical question would be, why are you here? Then again, this opinion seems to be a dominant commonality in the U.S., western based fandom. Even then, I'd say more so in the older fans. Not enough death and guts, so it's got no soul. I don't necessarily agree with that. Most anime series have their bouts of popularity when series are being aired. Frontier had a lot (and I'm talking about 60+) of fans who had cosplayed as Frontier and 7 fans during two years of 09 and 10 consecutively. I do remember going to a few Macross cosplay gatherings outside of Anime Expo as well. I really can't grasp what this show is going to be. If you're comparing it to Frontier, the only reason why it may seem as such, is more due to the coloring and background. It's all the same studio, and Satelight is known for having a similar palette throughout their series. the characters don't seem the same though. I did appreciate Risa Ebata's characters a bit more, but I'm not going to jump off with my feelings on them just yet. the images and feel of the visuals needs to sink in for awhile before I make any praise or criticism. the valkyries though, those look great IMO. Not a big fan of the forward swept wing, which for the longest, was reserved for the valks of the 9 series, but that SV-262 is a beast. At least the story is seemingly going to have a different direction. In my FB group, there's been small speculation, but with the names of the valkyries, the idol, the castles, and what seems to be a monarch type society, I wonder if this could be a European colony, or something similar. Even the SV-262 is based off of a European fighter, so it leaves me to wonder where this is going. I'm actually a bit anxious and happily curious about the story. While mecha is great, it's never been what drew me into the Macross franchise. It's always been a great story, each and every one of them as a separate entity. I don't rely on it needing to be some super canon, perfect retconned, non-retconned, semi-retconned, or however people who live off that want to put it. I enjoy each story as it comes. I hope I can do that with this one as well. I know, probably too much rambling, but I figured I'd put my little bit of useless speculation in it. I was right way back in the beginning about needing a girls idol group, and maybe a planetary, colony dispute. Ah, we'll see soon enough.
  9. I agree. Cute girls and me mecha are great, but it's the story that really it for me. I can't just do macha only with nothing else. The other elements that make anime what it is are essential too, so cute girls is a +1 for me as well.
  10. Still going guys. I will be sending out the first few 1/72 kits this week. I'm making this short because there just isn't much of an update other than the stuff is coming out.
  11. Cosplay designers, GET TO WORK NOW!!! That is all.

    Hi-Metal R

I see this guy when the panic button goes off way before a release. Some of you are way too serious for toy collecting. I won't get them simply because I don't need toys that are 1/100, but were those background images coming with them? If so, that'd be a reason to reconsider.
  13. I don't think it's harmful. Ignorant and not so smart, yes, but harmful, no.
  14. This isn't something new. The VF-25 had a limited version of that, and just using tech optics doesn't necessarily mean they are cyborgs. The BDI system is what was reserved for those on Galaxy with cyborg systems, which more or less allowed them to become the Valkyrie. There are two feet on these, so it's my guess that they're just very close together to make it look like one.
  15. +2. This topic just jumped a shark, and the news of the conference has been exhausted. hibernation time maybe? At least until more news comes.
  16. Isn't she so nice. "I've never played the game before" but she's my waifu". Kathy? (Most of you won't get this,,,, inside joke).
  17. Robotech has all the grit you need. Just pop in Shadow Chronicles, and let your nostalgia fly. I'm sure that franchise is thriving well with that formula.
  18. Half did it seemed, the other half had the same sort of sentiments expressed here. Frontier also had a new alien threat, that got the gritty fans happy about because they all wanted to see action like Starship Troopers. That, I do remember quite well.

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

If Bandai is taking over, it would be a sad day. Bandai's quality isn't as good between the Arcadia 19, and the Bandai 19 Advance. The engineering just seems overdone and too prone to floppy mishaps. That said, at least there'd be more stuff continuing.
  20. I had a chance to see this at MWcon in 1/72. It's the correct scale and all, but 1/60 would fit this much better with the attention that can be put into the detail. I wanna light up a 1/60 if these can get made.
  21. You've spoken to Flying Dog about this? Somebody might want to let them know that they aren't making money on music anymore, and should stick to advertising. The truth is, they (assuming you're talking about Satelight, the subsidiary of Sankyo) do make money off of the toys, music, and whatnot. They license the toys out to Bandai, who gives them money as a sponsor of the show, which funds production. The music is given to Flying Dog (the anime music label of Victor), in which they make CDs. I don't know through which venue, or how much money there is, but through all of it, there is money being made. This is how Frontier was done, and while it may not be every person's favorite series, it did extremely well. So well, in fact that even two months before the first episode airs on New Years Eve, there is still Macross Frontier merchandise being made and sold. Speaking of Macross Frontier, is it just me, or does this seem like a repeat of the same comments we heard before that came out? It is a business, and people don't go into business to lose money. If this sells, the mission is accomplished. I'm hoping for a great story, and if it is, that will be the biggest hurdle for me to get over. The mecha designs seem to hold up well, the characters, love them or hate them, seem like most of the other stuff, but that's what's selling. Give or take, if anyone is hinging on that alone, you may need to start looking now for another hobby, or buy up all the classic anime titles. Not trying to sound harsh, and this isn't directed at anyone in particular in this paragraph, it's just the classic MW.com panic button going off well premature.
  22. I honestly gotta say, I laugh every time I see someone whine about the girl idol group thing. Not interested? Don't worry, it wasn't made for you in the first place, so it's not like the sentiment matters to anyone for whom it was intended for. No need to change it, and I'll reserve my likes/dislikes of the series until it's being shown. As far as what I do see, I'm not stuck in the "What I grew up with is best" catalogue. I'm gonna keep my mind open to whatever it is that comes out. Hell, if I can watch Love Live and find it entertaining, I think I've expanded my horizon well beyond my nostalgia boundaries. I'm not saying everyone has to be on board with what they see. However, for us who live outside of Japan, we should all understand that, as I said above, this isn't made for us gritty westerners who need death, blood, and grit 100% of the time. I honestly believe that it's what makes the franchise successful. I'm sure we'll see some of that, but not in a way that many here may want or feel entitled to.
  23. I'm actually really liking what I'm seeing. The characters, IMO, don't look as good as the Frontier characters, but aside from a very Love Live looking character line up, I do love the valks. I think it'll have enough destroid action for some here, but if not, less grit monsters to worry about. I'm sure with this design for the world and the characters, it may do pretty well with the new audience that latched onto Frontier, and even the younger group. The resemblance of a Glaug and Regult, along with the Cheyenne should give some people the masculinity they need to watch anime. Pew pew! So far, I think my talking in jest about wanting an idol group and a dispute between a colony/colonies might be exactly what's happening (just based on the preview). I'm happy. I got what I asked for.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I stand corrected. It is forward wing design and angled down. Not my favorite, but looks sleek enough.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I don't think these are forward swept wings. I think they are downward angled, which without any dept to go on with the art, make it look like it's forward swept.
