  1. It's a little too cool of a blue and need a lighter grey in there to make it not contrast so much. I don't remember what the animation color came out to, but from what I remember my reaction being, it was pretty damn nice looking. I'd be happy with it being more grey than blue.
  2. I'm trying to find out if I need to sell my Max super 1J soon or not.
  3. I'll make it quick. I'm still painting and recasting. I'm also getting someone else to help with the painting for the weekend, but after that, I'll be back to myself doing it. New clear resin that's easy to recast came in today, so that will be the stuff I use.
  4. Just listened to it. Great show. There were a few things I have a different take on, but overall, I like the difference in opinions on this one. If they weren't done before, the triangle of Mirage/Freyja/Hayate is now quite openly shown. I did feel kinda sad for Mirage, but like in many Macross series (well, almost all of them), the triangle gets pulled in both directions to each competitor's advantage. also, I think the way the timing was set for both Arad and Kaname, it's a typical trope in many various romantic shows, not just anime, where it shows that both people involved like each other. I think this was something going on for awhile between the two, but never came to fruition due to Messer. I think maybe both felt they needed to protect him. For Arad, it was more about keeping him focused on being the pilot he needed to be despite the Var, and for Kaname, keeping that "Idol reputation" for Messer, who was influenced by her music. Now, if there's going to be a triangle there, it's going to be Arad, Kaname, and Messer's memory perhaps??? Great show again.
  5. There will be an official announcement with more details coming very soon. As for that date, mark that one down.
  6. Thanks for all the input. I'm planning on using this as a base to remake the Platypus that I made several years ago, but this time, with all the right parts, and instead of using styrene and bondo, using CAD files with the right panel lines and the sort. The system I built for it actually works where the nose rotates, so I'd like to implement it into a proper, well made system.
  7. Is that what it sold at? I got this one for about $100 and some change, but I have no other references to price it at. I can only really guess, being that the 1S, A, and J have sold for almost $200 at times. Being that this was a much smaller run, I have no clue if this would really make it a higher price, especially since the parts are in the 1st episode trainer colors. I'm debating whether to work on something completely different with this, or just keep in box until another light bulb goes off on what to do with this. I don't really need a 3rd 1D in the same colors, but if I decide against doing anything with it, I hope to have a reference selling point.
  8. OK guys. I have a VF-1D unassembled kit, and I'm trying to figure out what it's worth. It's in the original packaging and all that, with all the parts. I'm not really looking to sell it but I'm curious if anyone knows how much they go for? If I see another one, I'd like to get one, but I don't want to walk into something that's way too overpriced. The problem is, I haven't seen any for sale since I got mine over a year ago (partially because I wasn't looking). Thanks for your help.
  9. I almost forgot about this. Were these ever redone and finished? I'd like to get a set of both.
  10. I started painting a couple pieces over the weekend that were ready for paint. I'm not liking the color of the paint, as it seems to be more of a dull, cooler orange than I had expected. I have 3 new bottles coming in that I know are much better, just need to put them in a larger bottle with a slight addition of red. The alternative is getting the Tamiya orange in the can, which is the color I'd like to go for. I may just do that though, and if anyone needs to do repairs or wants to customize more, they'll easily be able to find the color. As for the smaller parts that require different colors, those will be getting the airbrush, as I can get a little technical in making sure those don't get overdone, or too heavy. As for the cleaup, this is where the time is all going. These are decent pieces, but they still require some patch work, some evening out with other sides, and so on. I'm gonna do my absolute best to make these look perfect, but at some point, I need to really draw a line, or I will never get these done. It is a one man operation. There's already been some people who can't wait, so I'm working on those first and as fast as possible without sacrificing my work, rest, and family time. To those who can wait, I appreciate it. Your waiting will not go in vain. I will have the process of cleanup and painting all these perfected, and it should be a nice piece for everyone. Of course, as with other large projects, I'm not going to have the time to weather these, and he decals will be all you. If I could, I'd give each one of these the personal touch of my own projects, which take awhile, but I hope that doesn't worry you. These will look great with all the other Macross Plus items that preceded it in the toy lines.
  11. I am actively prepping parts for paint, so I'm actually doing that as I type.
  12. Small update today. parts are still coming out, and I'm focusing on prepping the finished ones for painting. I'll be recasting more of the wings, tail fins, and the clear parts as needed, but I may have a better way of making clear parts for , so until I see if it works reasonably, those are getting made as well. Other than that, They're getting closer.
  13. Yes Gubaba was at Satelight's booth. As for those wanting a rundown of the panel, Mazinger pretty much covered the content. There will be some sort of article on the panel coming soon somewhere, and of course, a full podcast on the events of AX coming shortly. It was a great time for me, and from those that I met throughout.
  14. I fitted one together last night while packing the unpainted ones up. They look damn cool. I can't wait to finally get to put one together for myself.
  15. Either way, the molds will last for an additional one, so no worries, Spanner. As for some good news, I finally have enough parts done to start sending out the unpainted versions. Those will start going out this week, well, tonight they'll be wrapped up and sent out tomorrow. For those who ordered unpainted kits, I will update you with tracking numbers as soon as your kit is boxed and ready to drop off at the post office. Prep work will start on the painted versions next week. I'll be doing some minor patch work on some tonight and tomorrow, but the bulk begins next week. Paints have been ordered and the airbrush is clean and ready. I still have parts to recast, but because it's mostly small parts (not counting the wing, which I'm only halfway done recasting), I can start on the big items. and getting those put together with the smaller parts.
  16. I thought about selling my concert tickets, but apparently, that concert is 4 hours, and because of that, I'll just do both. I'm actually going to be there all 4 days. Between the Macross cosplay gathering, Kawamori panel, autograph sessions, interviews, and an annual dinner, it's going to be a long, but good weekend.
  17. Thanks, guys. I hate having projects sit like this, but I'll start prepping parts as well as recasting this weekend (sanding, filling, sanding, priming, etc.). I'm waiting on a new clear resin as well. the old stuff is industrial grade, and really strong, but extremely hard to work with, and takes way too long to set. I have a few of them done, but as I'm preparing new 1 part molds for them, they should look a bit better coming out of the mold. In any case, I've only done 3 of them with the old clear stuff, but I may save that for larger pieces for something else. The struggle continues, LOL. Oh, I'll submit pics of the tail fin tonight.
  18. Tail fin recast have come out great. I'm really happy how it looks. The last master I had was prepped pretty bad, so I was able to get another one, and I made sure it was done in a way to keep the panel and flaps looking clear and distinct. I'll be working as much as possible to get these finished as well as the rest of the rear section. I'm also starting new molds of the small pieces. Well, they're 50% done already with one half the mold done. Work continues. I won't have pictures for awhile, as I'm cleaning up the house for a number of people staying over for AX2016 and 4th of July. Nevertheless, I'm cranking em out as much as I can after a 10 hour work day.
  19. Apparently, there's a large group of us going. This is gearing up for a great 4 days or so.
  20. It's all the same. I finish up the tail fin tonight to restart that. The beauty of using bulk medicine measuring cups is great. I get perfect amounts of resin to use every time, and the resin is always mixed equally.Thank you Amazon.
  21. It SHALL be aliving and kicking until it's done. No options there, LOL.
  22. I can't wait to go to this. There's gonna be several of us in the ranks. I already got my seats for the concert night with one of the performers being Jam Project. I'm planning on going to whatever Kawamori has planned, so I'll be around. as far as filming it, it really depends on how much space is on my phone.
  23. Ugh, sorry NZEOD, the post office satelight here by work sent it back to work here, where it sat in the main room, due to the fact that they don't take international shipping. It is going out today at lunch, so it's definitely going out today. Sorry for the delay. As for an update, I'm still working on them, but for some of the molds, I have to redo a couple of them. I finished all the engine housing pieces, and have extras in case. The main body is about half way done, and the wings are in the same state. As for the turret, engine, camera, and tail piece, those have been taking awhile due to the onyx resin taking longer to set. Since those pieces will be painted anyways, I'm going to skip using the black and just go with the regular resin. It'll cut the cure time in half. As for the colored pieces, those will be for those that are building on their own, and whatever I have left of them will just go out as the painted ones finish. So, what parts need new molds? The main body part is already degrading, so not too happy about that. They were supposed to last much longer, but maybe just some strange mix or too much moister in the rubber. I don't know. Along with that, the turret, and the wing hook, camera housing, and tail fin all need to be done. Those take time, but I can continue on the other parts, so it still goes on. Work this weekend slowed down a bit, as I had to take care of setting up my corporation and getting the capital needed for the endeavor. Lots of boring stuff, but aside from that, I'll have a pic today of what the progress looks like.
  24. I thought it would've show up by now. I'll send out another one tomorrow. I have a couple left over.
  25. I think he's going by the Studio Half Eye 1/100 kit, and scaling it up. It's what I'm doing with the VA-3, with some modifications. As for the clearance, I've been using .2mm clearance for stuff, and printing in FUD from Shapeways. It can probably go slightly closer, but considering painting and sanding, you can go either way by creating clearance, or not. the other issue is always scale lines in the print, so you really do need to sand anyways. I use clearance, so that I can see how the parts will fit, and possibly printed together, while still being able to easily separate them. For FUD, I think the space needed might be .1mm. .2 gives enough space for me, but I have yet to print another set of leg parts.
