  1. Ugh, my poor fast typing. What I meant to ask is if you are going to use any sort of joint system, and if so, are you going to use any third party or aftermarket joints, like Revoltech, figma, or something similar? I'm really liking the design so far. I hope I can afford one when they're done.

    Macross figures

I just talked to some people at Volks USA in Torrance at their store, and I was told that the DDS Freyja will be a lottery prize? Really? I kinda want it, but at a lottery prize, my chances just about fell off the map.
  3. Paint is in and now some primer time. I think the orange will cover much better with the white primer as opposed to the grey..
  4. This thing is indeed huge. I wonder if it may just be better to make it as a static figure though. Don't get me wrong, I love the engineering aspect of it, but at that size in resin, you're looking at a lot of stress. If it isn't really hard resin, you're looking at possible warping and bending of some parts. I know you'll probably shell it, which will help, but are you going to go with other market joints?
  5. Sharon Intel, all of the parts are being done at the same time. I try to update the progress overall, as it will apply to everyone who has painted versions ordered. I'm wrapping up working on the main bodies, and they are starting to be cleaned and have the inside intake painted in a matte white. After they dry, they are being masked off and getting ready for the body primer, and then painting (barring no dents, air pockets, or anything that needs fixing). I'm hoping to get pics up tomorrow. I'm also on hold with paint, since the paint was backordered and is now supposedly on it's way. I'm expecting it in 4-6 days, but I'm still cleaning up parts, prepping them for paint.
  6. Xigfrid, if you do, since you have the pylons already on the wing, your versions will just be the HMMs themselves, right? From another fan made set I have of them, they do work best in the FUD only because of the design look and the need for the mini detail they have in panel lines. Either way, if you make a set like that, I'll be ready for them.
  7. Ok, this isn't so much of an update, but I'm working on both the camera housing and the main body.the larger parts are a bit of work due to the seams and crevasses but the housing parts finish up at 3x the speed.I've applied primer to the inside of the other parts, and now require masking for the outside. There are some parts that I missed in filling, but the primer was able to expose those.more oF this is done, just not pictured. Work continues.
  8. Thanks guys. I should have an update by Monday on more stuff.
  9. Ok, here's a quick picture. Not too much to look at, but the white primer is song to be sanded, rgen painted again on the inside. Once that is done, but I plan to do is fill up the intake part of it and then primer the outside and a different color so that once I buy the orange the white will be separated from the outside of the hull. Aside from this, I am currently standing the left and right side forward part of the main body. Those don't look any different than they were before even though they are being cleaned and sanded.
  10. It was the drone on display. Sorry I couldn't take pics last night. The wife scheduled a dinner with her father last night, so my time for pics didn't happen. I'll get some today for certain. I have nothing but time when I get off work in 15 minutes, LOL.
  11. This was the one that I was really hoping to get in on, and I really missed the preorder, by a lot. In any case, if one really wants it, it will be available. Just start packing those sack lunches now. For me, Cup-O-Noodles and egg salad sandwiches from Marukai. As for the supposed final shots, I'm really not too bothered by them. I think they've gone through the trouble of how badly a hastily released Valkyrie can be for them (ver. 1 of the VF-25). Being that these were designed before the show even started to air, that's a pretty hefty amount of time for R&D on a product that was that far along already. Of course, it is a new design, but for the 262, it does look like a beefier, solid design, so I hope that contributes to what looks like a solid toy. I usually don't get into the wishing well here, but either way, I'm on board.
  12. I will try to get pictures today. I've started the priming and cleaning up of some parts, as well as continually cleaning other sets of parts. I had issues with two of the molds that were made (premature degrading of the mold as well as drying out) so I have two small pieces to redo and I have literally 10 pieces to finish. That's not an issue though, and the next molds will be more than adequate to finish the job. I've been cleaning the forward main body up, so those are going well. I'm thinking of going to try Mr. Putty (I think that's what it's called) to fill in seems between the halves of parts. I can thin it out, and get really good usage out of it. Now, it will take a bit of extra time, but the end result can be having a more seamless kit without the lines in between. If everyone is cool with that, I can at least see if it's not going to add a mountain of time. I know it's taking forever, and I do apologize for that. It hasn't been the best year, but I am always doing something with this project. I'll post up something tonight. I also was the asst. director for Macrossworld con this year, so a lot of time had to be devoted to that. Now that it's finished, I can go back to going hardcore on this.
  13. I didn't think it was weak fan service. I think it was good enough to have quite a few people here talking about it, and giving the nod that they ended up being alright. There's also a reference to this in, I believe, the Miss DJ drama release, so it's not anything exceptionally new. Granted, it is a little bit more info than the CD I have, but in reflecting back on this entire series, it was strongly tied to elements of the first series. It did so in a way that is stronger than most realize, and I'm OK with that. I don't mind not knowing everything as I've pointed to in my previous post. I like that it had those strong ties, but was far from it. I've heard so much whining about it not being like SDF Macross, or not like Plus, but if that is what is wanted, re-watch those. I'm so happy that it took a different presentation of newer AND older things. There were issues with pacing, and some of the writing was just kinda sad, but overall, I enjoyed it, and I'm not going to complain about it "not being my Macross" or anything like that. Luckily, I spent a portion of my anime watching hurdling the oldtaku syndrome, where we start to complain that things aren't how we used to watch them. I have a fresh set of eyes when watching any anime, and that's why I can say that I enjoyed the series. Now, if we get one or two movies, I do hope they are continuations so that we can get some of those open questions answered. Who is Lady M? Will Heinz continue with dealing with NUNS? Windemere still has a large army of SV-262s waiting to go on the attack. I hope there is much more explored in, what is, a complex plot.
  14. Most of those items are for attendees and swag for the different valued levels of registration. If anything, if the t-shirts don't sell out by the end, maybe they'll be up for sale here. That's not my part of the planning, but if possible, you could just come down and get your swag.
  15. Looks great, Valhary. I still have mine in the packaging. I'm going to make it at some point, but right now, my focus is on the YF-25 Paladin. Unfortunately, I had to make a recast of the Frame Out parts due to fragility, but I'm working on the lance and the knee attachment now. All the rest is pieces from Armor and Fast Pack sets.
  16. Looks like a lot of fun. Glad you had a great time.
  17. I don't mind loose tie-ins like they mentioned in Delta. I really don't. As far as the "need" to tell the Megaroad story, I can do without that. That story is (give or take) 30 years old now, and I really don't want to go back and see VF-1s, Hikaru, Misa, etc. on some new series. If they did it, would I watch it? Yes, but I would rather see stuff like Frontier, Delta, etc. Stuff that forwards the franchise is needed, not stuff that has long been out of the limelight. It may be cool for older fans, but I believe it'd actually do more harm to the series than anything else. New fans don't need to go back to old stories, and it just seems like it'd be something just to appease a minority older fan base.
  18. Hey man, no worries on letting anyone down here. We all go through stuff that we don't want, or don't want to go through, but it happens. Life and wellness are most important, and I know for myself, I'm not let down. You have a talent no doubt, and we want your designs, but there's so much more that's important, and you have my support. Glad to know you're still on the forums.
  19. I believe they're just white, or maybe an off-white. I may just go with a matte white, for a more detailed look. On the updates, I got a new engine piece to work with, as the previous one wasn't that great. I make them work, but it's too much work for an easy piece, so that will be recasted starting today. Aside from that, I'm cleaning up all the parts still. I'm happy with how they're turning out, and focusing on cleanup really helps me focus on the parts and certain things to look out for. engine housing parts are done, and I'm now focusing on tail pieces. These are pretty easy, considering I was able to create a good recast. Next up is the main body of it all. These are mostly ready to go already. I just need to clean up a few minor trouble spots. This month is a little slower than I wanted. My year hasn't been great with losing friends and family, so I'm going to another memorial service this weekend, but I should be able to do a little bit of work.
  20. They're designed to fit out of the box, but because of paint and whatnot, they may need a small bit of clearing to get them to fit. If you have really small drill bits, that's the best way to clear it and make sure it fits snug and securely. If it ends up being a little too wide, I would suggest some nail polish or super glue to tighten it up again.
  21. Is there a stand for this, Xigfrid? or some sort of attachment? There is a section on the kit for it, but will this work with the Yamato stands? I've done about 17 of the intake housing pieces so far, and should have another two or 3 done tonight. Next up after these are done are primer coats, and I start sanding the "cockpit" section, or main body.
  22. So far, it's all been sanding, putty, sanding, putty, and on and on. Luckily they aren't taking forever to do, but I'm trying to get all these pieces right the first time, so I don't have to do too much after the first coat of primer. I have a few items I'm still recasting, as I wasn't happy with all of them, but multitasking between that and the prep work isn't an issue.
  23. Is this available through Shapeways?
  24. Update: I got two done that were "emergency" ones, so now I am working on the rest of them. I was able to open up the new Task 2 gallon for some of the more fragile parts. So far, they're sturdy just like a good quality plastic. As of now, I'm prepping all of one piece now. That will be worked on, cleaned up, then painted. Then, it's off to the next piece. This will let me know exactly how far I am along with the entire project. Plus, I can inspect any parts and see if they are just not up to par. I know it's been awhile, but maybe my only drawback, is that when it comes to the pieces, I can be a bit of a perfectionist. At least the parts are easy to work on now, and don't take too much work. I also got a new pressure tank that's working like a champ, so the parts are coming out with minimal air bubbles, if any at all. This week will be a bit of a clean up process from the two I was working on. Time for a reset, and to get this done properly.
