  1. I thought so, too. I'll end up getting both if the price is, of course, right. I'll use both of them like clothing for my DVDs, switching every month or so.
  2. These price arguments will go on forever. What I suggest is buying the first one if you can afford it or can find it cheaper. Than, if you like it enough, get the rest, if not, simple solution. The truth is that everyone is stating what the price should be and nobody has handled one of these yet. I have, and I don't think I still have the right to say what it's worth. We can all make assumptions and be under the impression that we know what we're talking about, but truth be, we just need to wait and see what type of product we're dealing with before we make judgements on price. For some, $80 is a lot, for others, it's not really much. It's all relative to each individual. Toynami probably did research to find the best price they'd be able to get for this toy. You can't say they're wrong for doing so either. If I had a business of producing toys and had an opportunity to make extra money, I would too. So does just about every company out there. Many try to push the profit margin so that they can make the best profit, and at the same time, keep the masses wanting it at that price. That's our nation and that's how many businesses are ran. I'd love to see a lower price like the rest of you, and if I can find it cheaper, I'll definitely go there. How bout you guys?
  3. Honestly, I think that $60 is reasonable for any of the MPCs, especially for the Vf series. However, if they were gonna charge $80 for any MPC, the Alphas are the ones to do it for. It's just a good quality toy. Now, for the Beta, it may end up being about $100, which it should be $80 if it's produced, but imagine the demand for that thing once it's close to being made? The first full production of these is gonna make any half-way fan buy one. Most people here bought the 1/48s at a high price, and no one really complained. I think many here are just skeptical because of the first releases of the VF MPCs. Once it's out, I think many will pay the hight prices if they can't find it cheaper than they want.
  4. I just recently purchased the Super O parts from MSLZ, and can't wait to get them. I must say that the work on the Elint you have is a good job. Do you use airbrush, or go with the cans?

The price is steep, but if you can find it on Ebay or something like that, go for it. I got two from a friend and paid $160 total shipped. I may have to customize one if I don't here about the cf version soon. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
  6. Can somebody pop up pics of the two pics in question? There's just too many pages here to thumb through. Thanks
  7. Anybody have any more customs? C'mon people! This is your chance to show the community what you can do, and to inspire others. Even if it's an old custom, let's see them.
  8. Usually on toys, the plastic that is used is polished, meaning that is has been smoothed and buffed out to give it a "shine". As to wether they use chemicals or not, I'm not sure. Your best bet is to use a very light sandpaper and roughen all the plastic that will be painted. As a general rule, all parts that will take on paint should be washed in soap and water. If you're using an enamel paint, I don't think you'll need a primer, but it always helps your top coats stick better. I too, have dealt with the same problem on the Bandais, and sanding any trouble areas usually resolves this issue.
  9. I asked about the price of the item, and although he doesn't work for Toynami, what he did say was this. Based on the fact that it is a limited edition toy, the fact that there is more diecast in this than the MPC, and the fact that the demand for this is much higher than the original MPC, that is the price Toynami may have come up with. He cannot say for certain though. I will agree with most of you. $80 is high, and if you can find it cheaper, go for it. Afterall, in this Capitalistic society, businesses have the right to charge whatever they like just like we have the right to shop around for the better deal. As far as the Beta connection, I think they are designing it, but as far as an actual sculpt, not even my buddy over here knows. I did find out that there is an actual section of the Alpha that conforms to link to a Beta, so keep your fingers crossed.
  10. So many great pictures, and only 5 sides to put them in! I think the box should have at least these included: A picture of all the Macross characters, SDF-1, the Zentraedi, VF-1S, and Minmay. Some of the pics I've seen so far are good. Can't wait to see the final result.
  11. I think it's funny that everyone thinks this is gonna be a crappy toy. It looks like they got this one right for once and that this toy is just gonna be a great toy. There's more diecast in this than the MPC and the quality is just superb. How do I know, I have seen it, played with it, and have handled it first hand. All hinges are metal as well, so I wouldn't worry about a flimsy VF-1 MPC piece. They really got scales and proportions right. This toy actually got me back into MOSPEADA again, and I really can't wait for my own to take out and play with. Word also is, if this toyline goes very well, there WILL be a beta to link with it. That's why they made them in 1/55 scale. Anything bigger would create problems of cost and price for a 1/35 Beta. I'm not making this up, I live with someone who works in the place many of you hate, but I get a lot of info and spilling that much is alright. Just know that you all would be happy with this toy.
  12. AMEN to that!!! I have a single and the dual action and I will never use my single again. You almost have to be a pro to use the single action because it requires you to know your paints, the coats they require, distances, and you have to have a good hand to make the single action work for you. As far as other pointers, get a compressor with a steady 30psi of air pressure + and you'll be alright.
  13. That's pretty good. I'd love to get a set for my 1D or the 1S Minmay Guard I'm working on. Is that armor set from the original Bandai/Takatoku, or from the reissue Bandai? Anyone know of anyone that's casted parts for the reissues, esp. the arms?
  14. And one more. If you got questions, ask em here. I'm hoping to see more customs from everyone else.
  15. Here's another
  16. Here's my very first custom. I'm working on two right now, but this one has a VF-1D head by chris as well as heat shield, and cockpit. The pilots are scratch built, and the decals are of Anasazi's great work. I used Tamiya sand for the brown and Tamiya orange. The green is a mix of two bottles I found of Tamiya paint that I knew would look good if mixed.
  17. Spare parts, huh? I think I have enought spare parts to put two back together, I think. Anyways, let me know if you want a list of what I have and what you'd want for them. I'm willing to trade, or even sell if you want.
  18. Quick question. How do you insert pics? I have a few but don't know how to put them up here?
  19. That Blue Roses custom is very nice. What color did you use for the main body?
  20. True that. But even in a large epic space battle, you could have a white plane, or yellow, or any flashy color and you'd never see it unless you were near a star or a nebula or the sort. Color would have no effect on visibility unless you were 5 feet from it.
  21. We're assuming this is still somewhere around a star to provide some sort of light. Even with certain gases, and starlight, if it was in deep space away from those objects, even the most colored and bright painted valk would be near impossible to see. That being said, I'm sure the pilots in space have to rely on the radar probably more than their immediate visuals.
  22. Do you have a pic of the 1/55 Ostrich set? Also, how much? I'm interested in that.

    custom 1/48 CF + FP

From one customizer to another, your work is awesome. The weathering and the detail is superb. You definitely have an eye for the art of modeling and customizing. Again, great job.
  24. I believe the wanted forum is the best place to get them. I don't know if Chris still does them. If so, anybody have a link or direction to go in? I need some custom parts as well. Thanks. BTW, Pics coming tonight of my custom work.
  25. To answer some questions, the cyclone I believe goes into the chest area. As far as size is concerned to the 1/55 scale MPCs, it is somewhat smaller. Perhaps about 2-3 smaller. To be honest with you, the pics that everyone sees don't do it justice. And you cannot see all the diecast that went into this thing. If you have the superposeables, then you will be happy to know that the the movement of this toy is very close to that. All joints for the piece I saw were extremely fitted right. And this was the final design piece. I didn't get to see the figure or the gun, just the actual toy. If I had to say if it was worth $80, I'd really have to balance it out with $80 for the MPC VF-1s. With respect to that, I'd say yes. If you can spend $80 on the first set, this set will definitely be worh it. But in reality, I still bite my lip over $80 anyways. Remember this though, they made this at 1/55 scale for a reason. There is supposed to be another transformable mecha that attaches to the back that is much larger.
