  1. Even though I'm a fan of both Robotech and Macross, I'll still give my honest opinion about these MPC Alphas. The Scott Bernard version I own is perfect. All super tight joints, paint is clean, and a wonderful toy/collector item. The red Alpha I had a brace in the nose section break during its first transformation and the whole nose/cockpit section came off. I was pissed, but being that I'm a customizer, I was able to fix, reinforce, and get that area even more secure than Toynami made it in. I was able to speak with a higher up at HG, and they just gave me a new one. That was real cool I thought, and the new one is flawless. As a new company, Toynami may run into QC problems, and will still be learning as time goes by, but by that same coin, a new company that is not so established needs to be extra strict so that their first impressions they leave are good. I will say that between the VF series and the Alpha series, it's night and day, east and west, and I look forward to Beta fighters, especially since their transformation isn't as complicated.
  2. Honestly, I thought this game was pretty good. There, of course, were those few missions that just irritated me to no end trying to beat, but who wants to run right through a game anyways? I think it was better than the new Robotech game, that is just another push through the game and get it over with type game. They had a lot of opportunity to make a great online game and create a huge fanbase for that and blew it. Is BC worth the $10??? Absolutely. Have fun with it.
  3. After reading this thread, I realized that I never finished this game. I guess I should say thank you for reminding me that I still have this game. I did have a lot of trouble in this section of the game. What's the best way to dodge the lasers?
  4. Koenig, Koenig, we need Koenig!!! My itch to buy a new toyof this kind is getting bad.
  5. Wow, two MWers who were both doing these kits, and it's a 1/100!!! If you could get that far, you could definitely do the rest with little effort. I think you knocked out the hardest part right there in the legs. Anyways, great work, I was wanting to do this to the few kits I have, now I have ideas.
  6. Man, I remember this thread long ago and thought, wow, if this could get done and duplicated, I'd be totally in. Glad to see there's still life in the thread. So, is this an operation from the reissued kit of the VF-2SS or is it from another kit? This thing looks amazing. I'd love to see updates.
  7. I'd love to see this subbed the right way and/or even dare I say, dubbed. Question though... since the mecha designs are new and the characters are new, wouldn't this be able to make it stateside? That would be great to see an official release of this over here. Well, here's to wishing
  8. Hey, thanks for your help on this matter. I'm going this weekend to pick up the acetone, and the Tamiya metal/plastic primer. Where would I be without my fellow MW members
  9. We're not that far off. How many of us already have shrines dedicated to the Valks? I know I do. LOL, We shall pray to the Floating Head to rain down new Macross toys, and bless your lowly servants for a new series...
  10. Honestly, with the 20 anniversary of Robotech coming, I think Macross will stay quite strong being it's the root show for Robotech. It's all just a matter of priorities. Some of us are still in a position where space, and social status hasn't changed enough and we can still collect. Others are now fathers, while some are in new homes and just can't afford it, or afford as much. I'm still a collector, like you, Kevin, but the fact is that the joy of getting the new toys are not as strong. Perhaps it's just cause I'm a little tired of the VF-1 series. I think I'll feel the joy again once the VB-6 is out, or if the VF-19FP comes out. So far, my collection consist of 18 Bandai 1/55s, 9 1/60s, two each of all the M+ valks, 5 1/48s, all the Bandai M7 stuff, all Toynami MPCs, and many other odd and end releases. My buying has slowed down, and will until new valks come out that are non VF-1. Not stop, just slow down.
  11. I'm surprised they haven't done this yet. Here's another idea... why don't they sell a set with a Macross Zero destroid and then the original one??? I think that would be cool. It would definitely keep my interest in toys going. Right now my collection consist of the old large size ones and a paper made MAC II. I need more though, and to have high detailed destroids would be cool. Can the gound forces get some love???
  12. What can I say, I'm a giver.
  13. How about this... everyone buy me California Lotto tickets and powerball tickets and if I win, I'll buy a few and hire those here that can do 3D models to create toys. Those that can't can just work on filling the powder and the chemicals. And we can start our own independent company for ourselves and be the lords of our own toys.
  14. I heard that, Blaine, that's why I wrote if at all possible, cause sometimes it's just not possible. It's just nice to have the toy collection I dreamt of when I was a little kid. If I could go back in time with what I have now as far as toys, I'd be one of the coolest kids in the county.
  15. I did the soaking overnight with the non scent, non die soap and water, that didn't help. But the auto priver, that might be the only way. Hmmm, Will that eat the plastic? It sucks cause I've never ran into this problem before. Well, worst case scenario is I find a hard as hell primer, primer the !@#$ out of it and then buy another orange can of paint to paint the armor again. Wow, customs, something always stops you in your tracks.
  16. As our lives were engulfed in the "Macross Frenzy" over the last 4 years, it seemed as though we could be late on a car payment or a bill just to get the new Low Vis, or the 1/60 Super O. I was one of the people that thankfully for a great job with Mercedes Benz, was able to buy any and all the toys. You have to admit that 4 years is a long time and most of us have changed as well as our lifestyles. I for one am now single (unmarried) and my girlfriend actually likes this stuff. When it was all new, I was buying everything. As the releases slow down for Macross, my buying may slow down, but my loyalties to it and my love haven't. My advice to you all who are considering ridding yourself of your collection, keep it if at all possible. Once you sell them, you'll probably say to yourself, " I can buy them again if I want", but all the energy you put into getting them the first time around won't be there. All you'll have left is the memory, which is fine, but better to still have it there to pull out every once in awhile and play. Geez, I'm gonna be 30 in two months, and I'm keeping it all, except for the stuff I have doubles of. That was just crazy of me to do, but keep it guys. The only thing I'll keep buying is the Bandai reissues for customs. That I cannot do without still. Customs will always be nice and fresh and always keep the old toys in perspective. The good thing about HG doing a new Robotech series is that it may spawn more from SK and can maybe keep the idea of transforming mecha fresh. In anycase, it has been great to meet and hang with some of you through the MW cons, p.m.'s, trades and sales. I hope to do many more and hope that all of you will want to stick around as well.
  17. Ahhh, so many damned questions. I'll be looking to download tomorrow, or even better, Frank & Sons exclusive??? These reviews don't seem so good, but I'm too far into it now. After owning all 4 DVDs so far, must... buy... one.. more!
  18. "Deadgar" will become Claudia after a sex change??? "F"ilarious man, everyone at work just now looked at me like I was crazy for laughing out loud just now, those bastards. I want my copy now. Hopefully someone who actually speaks English will translate it and not some 4th rate english translation. Or I should just learn Japanese.
  19. Okay, how about this problem. I bought some recasted parts, and for some reason, after washing the parts, sanding, and all the necessary precaustions, the paint comes off with not too much effort. I'm using enamel paint cause I figured the acrylic wouldn't hold as well on this type of recast plastic. Is there another method I should do to make the paint stick. Oh, and yes, I did use primer. Thanks for your help.
  20. Oh, yessss!!! I saw this puppy at MWcon4 and it's worth a contribution. Mari was so cute in the .... don't wanna give anything away. But put me down for one when available. Shaun, you da man!!!
  21. When they were still looking at doing Macross 3D, that would be a good time frame to do a new series. The year circa 2050, perhaps Zentraedi with their warlike nature and now ideas of culture have learned the ideas of technological terrorism. Zentraedi rebellion breaks out over a few colonized worlds, and there you go. Introduce the VF-3000 and the 5000, as well as old VF-4s, and the VA-3 Invader, and you have a plot that can be developed with great character development. Damn I'm good. How do I come up with these ideas? I don't know, it's like a gift. But seriously, they throw in an old character(s) as well, and you can have a good series, and stretch it out as far as you want. That type of series can either be very edgy, or be a little light and get great effects. It'd be cool to see Isamu again perhaps, you never know what could happen. As every series in Macross reveals some new revelation, this story could unveil older, ancient wars the Zentraedi were in, or their genetics, endless possibilities. Either way, if more people post and voice their desires for a good, up-to-date Macross series that is edgy and non-compomising, perhaps heads will turn. The whole point is that just cause the originals were so good, doesn't mean that they can't do another great series, and longer than 5 30 minute OVAs. And although the fanbase seems to be shrinking, I believe something new will come out. There's too many fans and too much love for Macross to let it go.
  22. Might as well make this the official picture thread for collections. Maybe I should take pics of mine this weekend. Keep sending them in.
  23. The ideas for that are good, but you can't stray too far off the topic without losing the "Macross" feel in an anime. That's what made MOSPEADA a cool show on its own. It had the cycles, but also had the larger mecha and large scale air and space battles. I like Macross Zero, but they could've done more explaining the process of reverse engineering and what exactly they found exploring the SDF Macross. But now that the prequel has been done, there needs to be a series that progresses from M7. I can be done. And those who produce these anime hopefully realize that what they started so long ago is epic and does have a fanbase large enough to continue.
  24. This is such an interesting topic, because as all of us agree that a new Macross series would be great, we all can agree that it needs to be uncompomising in its presentation and delivery. As far as M7 is concerned, I actually enjoyed it. A little hard to swallow at the start, but it is a good plot. I would be very pissed if they decided to redo the old Macross series. I'm not gonna say what should or shouldn't be done, but there are a lot of options for Macross to do without compromising it. Not that HG is the shining example of this, but the new series they are working on seems to be promising. Their new series, Shadow Force, continues where the last episode of The New Gen. left off. This could give them a chance to redeem themselves and actually do something that isn't cut and spliced together. Macross can do a new series that continues from Macross 7. Why not? As far as toys, there's so much that hasn't been done yet. YF-19 FP, SV-51, YF-4, and all the M7 jets that never made any production. If Macross is dying down, it's expected. I'm a fan for life, and I was around during the lull. If you don't want it to die out, and want more Macross, voice it out. Action is always soooo much better than just accepting what you don't want.
  25. I say if you can do a costume right, and make it look realistic, go for it. What almost embarrasses me is seeing others in $.99 costumes they made the night before. Many of the costumes I've seen here in this thread look quite good. Hats off to those who made some of those costumes look so good.
