  1. I think it's fine adding more "bust" to the sculpt. Afterall, what looks like seperated busts, will be sculpted into the chest plate once done, and will look perfectly fine. On some points of the rendition, I know Ryuji wants the sculpt to look as close as the original artist, but on things like the bust size, I believe a little freedom on his part is great and will actually add to a 3D model. Great work on this, I wish I had half the skill to make those. Nice work.
  2. hMMM, I'm waiting for my box to show up from hlj.com. Anyone know a good place to get the boxes cheaper or easier? Does Frank & Sons have them? anyways, I'll make my report when I get the box.
  3. My cleaning technique for Acrylics (Tamiya) is as follows: 1) Wash out excess paint with water 2) Pour Formula 409 in feeder and spray it out. 3) Clean out broken up paint in feeder and on the heads 4) Pour rubbing alcohol in feeder and spray out. 5) reclean heads and any parts with q-tip 6) pour purified water in feeder and spray out. 7) Dry all parts off and put away happily Is that too obsessive?
  4. With god-like size!!! Mike, amazing! Simply amazing, I'm in for one for sure. And Big F, welcome to the boards man!!!
  5. You have me down for a XL, I just want one Large, Thanks bro!!!

    VF-X & VF-X2

Are you referring to the US edition of VFX-2??? If so, I will have to have a talk and shoot around town for it. Is this guy at Frank & Sons?
  7. 1 large please. Thanks
  8. I use the model master dullcoat. And I've used the regular tester's stuff. I like Model Master better. It, for some reason, goes on quite easily and covers simpler than the dullcoat. but As far as finish, they are both the same I believe
  9. There was an older thread about the paper monster. This B&W version is damn sweet. I built the color version on 110lb. cardstock. That seemed to be the best paper. And for the parts that would be showing white in certain areas, I double printed the backside of the the paper in the green color just to keep the same color and look a little more realistic. Actually, I am working on cleaning up the colors of the colored version, because I will be getting it printed on I believe it is 16x20 poster board paper. A print shop will be doing it for me and it's gonna cost a little dough, but that should bring it to rougly a 1/48 scale. Of course, I will be doing this with photgraphs along the way. Now I'm trying to decide,,, do I print it in color (a dulled out green and not so dull as the original, or in the B&W? Again, man, great job on the monster. It's one hell-of-a project, I know.
  10. Um, I don't know if you still needed it, but I'm still in for one, maybe 2 depending on taxes and how those go. But keep me for one. And BTW, those pics are B-E-A-utiful!!! Damn, I need this!
  11. I actually listened to Mari's CD Wonderful People. Not bad stuff at all. Much of it is quite jazzy and melodic, and catchy. I played it on the way home through the car's bose system, and it's good. I want to hear more.
  12. That would be Memo, who got the pics of everyone with Mari and the solo pics. Hopefully he'll post up his 100 shots or so. Maybe he'll send them to Shaun for upload onto this site in a special section or so. Man, I had a great time there, and loved the company. It was great to see Mari again, she is always sooooo hot I was kinda sad not to see too many new customs in the works. That's always a real treat seeing original stuff and paint schemes. but still some great new stuff nevertheless. I wish I could've gone to the dinner afterward, but had to meet my parents for father's day dinner. I guess I'll see many of you at AX. Seiichi, great to see the stuff for sale you brought, I can't wait for the store to come up and I'll see you at SD comicon. Thanks guys for making this a great con again.
  13. Thought I'd give this thread a little update,,, I'm gonna make this into like a 1/55 scale, so that would make it stand what, about 2-2.5 feet??? My question is, what size paper would I need? 16x20? I am wondering if the current scan would work alright on that size, or would I need to "clean" it for a higher resolution. I will get this up and going though, if I can make it possible with the resolution. Gonna start this weekend.
  14. I'll take definitely one large, two if the price is good. Oh, yes, and I'm there for sure
  15. Such an old thread but still such potential!!! Since MWcon5 is only 2 weeks away, maybe some top secret transfer to DVD??? We sit, silent, waiting,,,, patient.
  16. Man, it can't be that hard to prepay people. C'mon, let's show her how real fans are and show that we actually want her there. See you all there. Jason C
  17. I thought Iona Morris was already confirmed. Man, guess I know way more than I should. Some of the animated sequences look tight!!! Especially some of the battle scenes. As far as character design, I was thrown back a little by the new designs, but as I've seen the U.N. thing (on DVD) Marlene/Arial is freaking hot. They made her absolutely gorgeous (prrrrrrr). Since DR Movie is doing the animation, look for this movie when out to look very much like Yukikaze in animation, character design, and animatics. At least I can deduct from what I've seen. Hope it comes out well, cause this is new ground for the people at HG.
  18. Back in the day I customized an SDF-1 like the DYRL style. For the white colors, I used a matte white with a touch of black. It's not a straight white color. As for the blue, Tamiya blue, mixed with the German Grey is what worked for me. The reason why I used the greys and off whites is cause the Macross in DYRL is a very non-brilliant style. Lot's of dull colors, and greys. Hope that helps.
  19. See, that's what's good about the $25.00- No diehard RT people coming over and getting annoying. I know a lot of the RT people, and some can be quite annoying. Although I'm over there a lot, I know my info about Macross and come with my Macross game face when I'm there (and my customs). Somebody mentioned the fact that they'd hate to see our customs and displays called Veritechs, and I agree, even I'd wanna wrap a pool stick around their head, but then again, that just sounds like fun sometimes anyways... I know, call me disturbed
  20. If you have an airbrush, German grey is a great color to use. Then use a white to lighten it up to your preference. German grey is a great color that matches parts of the SDF-1 in DYRL.
  21. I couldn't agree with you more, and I hope you don't think I was attacking you or anyone for that matter. I just read some posts, and some people think they're funny by rehashing stupid jokes from a small fued that has long since died out. Like it's some war or something. There can be some over the top fans from both sides, and I like it when there's just plain old fans who know about what they are at the con for, and can have fun, have a few drinks with other fans, and make new friends. That's what it's really about... Macross fans hanging out.
  22. I'm a fan of Robotech as well as Macross, but I don't think it needs to be publicized over there. If there are fans of RT.com that frequent this site, know about the con, and are fan enough of Macross to come, I think that'd be fine. Most people from the previous con thought Memo was real cool, and he's a rt fan first, but loves macross as well and is a fan. I can understand that many of you are RTphobic for your own bizarre and unique reasons, but some of them are big Macross fans, like myself. I love Macross just as much as RT, and would support both. But to get back to the subject, this is a con for the Macross fans, and paying $25 for a MWcon is good enough to show some dedication. I don't think some of those RT people who are "fair-weathered fans" will pay to come in and feel uncomfortable. This is Macross, not Robotech, and it should be and stay particularly as that.
  23. HEHEHE, pre-reg sent and I'm in for sure. Nick, perhaps getting a list written of who is pre-reg will spur others to register beforehand. Sorry you have to deal with whiners. Guys, just pre-register. $25.00 isn't a lot considering many of you spend hundreds on one toy, or model kit. Less than 10 minutes sending it in and you're set. I hate paypal sometimes as well, but Nick gave the option to send a check or just pay and extra $5.00 at the door. Call it an "inconvenience fee" because those that are too lazy to do things when you should become one. Anyways, I'll be there for sure and if you need help to set up Nick, let me know and I'll get there early. Memo will probably show up but a little later as he's gonna be at an anime convention in Boston and coming back sunday morning.
  24. Impressive,,, most impressive! Geez, can you imagine trying to score with a chick in that room??? "Heya baby!!! Wanna see my light saber?" Although that collection is huge, now you post pics on the internet, and you show all your dorky ass friends your moc star wars action figures. If you're gonna be that much of a fan, at least show somewhere that you play with the darn toys.
  25. I'm gonna try that. Just been so busy with fixing up my new car. Very little time to do stuff. Plus the new hottie is time I am very happy with as well.
