Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Another idea could be like what gundam did with the 08th M.S. team. Where it stays in a pre-constructed story arc, but delves into other aspects of that timeline. Perhaps the Destroids of the first war, or an offshoot of that, portraying ground warfare. Then again, it would be strange to call it Macross. On the discussion of what Kawamori may/maynot do, perhaps it's just going to be like Eureka Seven, and have Valkyries or Destroids with Air boards that they fly on. Whatever it is, I still miss the high quality old drawn on cell anime. I hope they can portray that in this series, or at least make the CG look like that. -
Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Oh, that could mean just about anything. Maybe mostly new stuff, maybe some VF-5000s, VF-9, VF-4, modified old stuff made new, or just fresh off the sketch pad. Question is, when do we start seeing screenshots and concept art? -
Damn!!! Scratchbuilding at it's finest! Very nice work indeed. I gotta get my lazy @$$ up and start building more stuff.

MacrossWorld Con 2007 Event Sign Up Thread!!!
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
I need to pay you for the poker tourney, but for the custom contest, do we need to sign up or just bring the customs? I think I'll have one or two to bring that are new. for the game contest, I think the only game that would be fitting this con is Battlecry. If so, I'll be up for that competition. -
If I could speak spanish, I'd so be involved with my original paint schemed VF-1

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
Jasonc replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It is very expensive. I got my Gunbuster set from Best Buy for only $20!!! Perhaps waiting a month or so will produce lower prices??? What's funny, is that I'm just getting to this thread, and I have the OST in my car now. It's the one that has like 99 tracks on it with talking, along with the songs and soundtrack music. Man, They just don't make anime like they used to. -
I never brought the two together until you mentioned the cyclone here: And Jenius understood what I was talking about. In reference to the issue of putting the CMs Corp. Legioss and Tread is what I meant by Toynami not really doing too much. And, in regards to the second wave of Toynami 1/100s, i.e. the fastpacks, they were shown at AX 2006, which is approaching a year ago, 9 months to be exact. Without going into simantics and precise dating, the point is, is that although Toynami was busy last year producing Macross stuff (which is fine and good) The Beta, under the Robotech name, and the alphas, simply missing. HG, as it has dealings with Yamato, which also could mean it's sister co. CMs, probably may share interest in the Legioss/Tread kit, as there have been no product under the Robotech name for sometime. If not, this is probably going to spur Toynami to produce more toys so that HG need not look outside for more product to sell under the Robotech name. Just a guess.

If you do plan to make resin copies, I'll definitely buy one. This is a very accurate sculpt from what you are perceiving cody chan. For copies, what you should do is get an interest number of people who want a resin kit of it. then those that want it, have a prepay when it's ready to be produced. The money you bring in will then fund you materials cost and then some, for this project. BTW, very beautiful sculpt.

Man, I must say, it is pretty Fugly. If I was that Valkyrie pilot in charge of that POS, I'd ask for a transfer. The paint scheme makes it look snub nosed, and much thinner than it is. That paint scheme has a really bad illusion of size and design that makes it look like a knock-off. The YF-19 looks "OK", but just that. Nothing to wow over. I'm not getting these unless I see a 19 on sale for $70 or less... maybe.

Ahh, the good ol' days... mine was a Transformers Jetfire G1, that I still have. I remember getting that on a Christmas morning, and that being the only toy I played with that day. I think I was about 10, going on 11. It was only a few months later that I got a Takatoku Hikaru, then the Roy Fokker 1S. But it was that Jetfire that started me on my way to a somewhat large collection now.

For thinning, what MechTech suggests is purfect, especially for acrylic. consistency of milk is the way to go for that stuff when mixed with paint, which equates to like a 1:20 ratio on some paint. My experience, pour a glass of cold milk into a glass and drink it while mixing your paint. It puts it all into perspective. Just don't accidentally drink your paint. For paint removal, my favorite is pine sol. I was introduced to it as a paint remover, and although it takes time to take off paint, I have had no bad reactions to the plastic from it. I buy the large commercial bottles, and mop my floors while taking off paint and tampo printing from my valks.

Toynami news on their Beta and 1/100 Fast Packs
Jasonc replied to protostar8's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, this is a sore subject. Basically, it just means that anything is possible... they may, or may not make the Beta. Right now, it's just a marketing gimmick to get people to buy more of the problematic Alphas. It's tough getting a good apple out of the rotten tree. -
I'll be all over this game again if the server works and we can play online. I've got my Valkyrie special paint design ready to go.
-
The 1/100 Valkyries are a problem in and of itself. Remember the breaking display stand? Also, These have been out about a year now, and the excitement over this product is pretty much dead. I'm sure there will be a comeback to it when and if they do the armor pieces. As for the Cyclone, that's something new, but it doesn't sit well for a company to release more variations of a toy that has so many problems with it, and leave already apprehensive customers with the same product that got them that way to begin with. I'd like to see HG sell the Legioss/Tread combo together. I do hope they make 4 colors as well.
-
Save Robotech, thanks for the update. By strange, I meant that they are all coming out roughly around the same time. It'll be nice to see variations of the two, and figure out which one is better. Either way, I would love to still see swappable heads. As for the It is an unused design by the original artists. There are tons of those designs that were never used, like the space armor. Unfortunately, that never made it either. Tommy's design is based off that Artmic picture, from what many have thought and perceived, but it is somewhat original. Only using the rail gun looking piece, it's been redesigned as well. Both versions look quite good.
-
LOL, I just realized that although I own roughly about 65 Valkyries, out of the list provided, I own ZERO 1/48s, 1/60s too, except for the 1/60 Q-rau Milia, the 1/100 Koenig Monster, and the Macross Zero stuff. Other than that, I have all the 1/72 babies. I guess I'm more of a Bandai person, LOL. Long live the Chunkie Monkeys!!!

What I'm thinking is that this could very well be a distribution type deal. What leads me to think so is that the scales are the same, and the number of versions coming out are the same. Beagle says 4 versions, Toynami has 4 versions. As for reasons they wouldn't have prototype pics is probably because Toynami hasn't approved their prototype pics as of yet, and they are waiting for that to send to them. Late 4th quarter release of the Toynami toys would mean a release in 2008 for Beagle in a distribution, as Toynami would get them first, then approve shipping from the factory to the Japanese distributor. If not, then this is gonna be one interesting business move for Beagle, as they are doing a toy that is already in production, albeit, from another company in another country. It's still a strange move if that's the case.

Official Macross World Con 2007 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
LOL, I think it got brought up very briefly, nothing official. But I'm sure she has her own band. If she asked, I'd have to practice with her. As for playing any of the Macross songs, I could play a few, but it also would depend on what key she plays them in. for a backup band, I have my band, and we do covers of all sorts of stuff, but no anime songs, as my Japanese is, well... non-existent. But it makes for fun party music, especially if you wanted to hear a guy sing Vacation, by the Go-Gos. Anyways, I'm gonna get started on my kits and customs again, so hopefully I'll have something new to bring that isn't so ancient like my VF-1D. The Elintseeker will be done by then. That's for sure. Who else is bringing new customs??? -
Graham, I know people have said it's about the same size as the Toynami version, but is it really close to the 1/55 scale, or more 1/60? I guess you'd really be able to tell in the Legioss, but very curious. As for any issue with HG, I think that they would need to work out details of selling them on their site. I'm sure they'd like to, especially since it seems like Toynami isn't really doing anything except releasing the same bad QC ridden alphas on us in the form of the new paint schemes, with no announcement of their beta. If Toynami does decide to release their Beta, word is that it will be upwards of $200. If both companies have the same sized product, here's a choice with a logical answer: Do I pick the Legioss/Tread combo for $200 (at most) or do I get one Beta(Tread) for $200? Give me the Legioss as well. CMs Co. has a product that looks promising. and supposedly coming in about 4 months. I think I would've bought my share by the time Toynami makes a decision to make theirs or not.

Well, you can always recycle... sell off the old and get the new. That will end up being my route after I tie the knot. My fiance has her own collection of toys and Robotech/Macross stuff, but I'm thinking of consolidating, and selling off the doubles. As for future toys, there comes a point where I just don't know what to do with it. When I move, I'm gonna have one hell of a time boxing up all my stuff. Not looking forward to that. I'm becoming more interested in the rare and hard to find stuff. Much more pricey, but irregular to come by. The SV-51 may be one of my last purchases. (I said one of my....)

That'd be cool to have all the cons on a DVD to sell. Did anyone get word on what the shirts are gonna look like? I want 2. And I'm hopefully looking forward to seeing the customs. That's my favorite part. -
Well, Here's to some good luck on everyone's shipping. Godspeed SV-51s, and may your journey to our homes be safe and unbroken.

Official Macross World Con 2007 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Well, I can understand hearing a bunch of fans trying to sing some of these songs and butchering them to death. I may make an attempt if the right song is provided, and it will scare people most likely... OK, maybe not. We'll see. -
it's the speculating that keeps us occupied while our wallets attempt to grow fatter. With some good luck, I'll be about $16,000 richer to spend on toys, a Suzuki GSX-r 750, and pay off a few remaining bills. I may need $1000 just for the Legioss/Tread combo, SV-51, and all the booster kits and supplemental parts for my current collection. Man, July is gonna be a rough month. BTW, although the market looks a little shaky, look to the housing commission and the sort to balance it all out with lower rates to spur the market. Hopefully our dollars will be stronger when the time comes.

$220-$230 at other sites, and people are saying that hlj.com is expensive at $175? Seems like hlj is the place to go. I pre-ordered mine there, and good thing I did. Seems like macrossworld has become a makeshift "focus group" for Yamato in this new production. Now, if only they take some of our points into account.
