I'm thinking of making my second custom super O, but have been looking for the resin armor parts. I like what you've done, and you say this is your first custom??? Not bad. The chips give it a weathered look. Did you put a clear coat over the paint? That can help in preserving the paint.

Will you cancel your pre-orders to get a lower price???
Jasonc replied to misterryno's topic in Toys
I put that I would cancel a preorder for a better price, moreso if I could get it locally. However, I wouldn't go on a pre-order "strike" to try to fix the problem. If you look at economically, the cost of living is much higher in Japan, where these toys come from. So, off the bat, without any markup and import cost, you have a higher priced toy. Then add in your importing cost, and you have the prices we see here. We, as consumers in the U.S., are also after thought when it comes to these Macross toys. They aren't really meant to be sold outside of Japan, so I doubt they'll lower their cost because consumers in their secondary or third market want it so. I wish it was different, but that's the way it goes for us. -
Macross 25th Anniversary TV Special thread *READ THE 1ST POST*
Jasonc replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
In regards to using tanks over destroids, It seems more logical to have tanks covering ground that won't tear up the streets or environment inside the colony. I would guess that the Valkyrie in 2059 is much easier to make and not as costly as they were in the beginning. Thus, the need for cheaper, limited role destroids would probably not be needed. With all the people I've shown this to, I think Macrossworld will gain some new members and fans. Everyone I've shown it to have instantly fallen in love with the direction of this ep. 1. -
Macross 25th Anniversary TV Special thread *READ THE 1ST POST*
Jasonc replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Robotech What??? I think this just made the A-list of anime for 2008. And like what was written before, it's a great time to be a Macross fan. I just watched it, and analyzed it in detail, and it's got the elements of a great series. Although some of it can be construed as a little cliche'd, the little hints of great Macross series past and bits of nostalgia had me clawing for more. Ahhh, Yamato needs to make the VF-17 version that wasn't the CF version shown, and the CF versions shown. How sweet that was!!! What an awesome Christmas gift. Merry Christmas, everyone. Jasonc -
Macross 25th Anniversary and Macross F/Frontier news thread III
Jasonc replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
So far, it all seems to be coming along very nicely. As posted earlier, I think it may be a good idea to have a fact bulletin put up here on this thread. I'm sure there are many asking questions like, "when is it out?", "What's it about?" and of course, all the pics, like what Graham is doing. -
the site should have a "straight from Japan" section, that will feature new articles from the Hobby mags, as well as Newtype, and hopefully interviews with creators, designers, and so-on. We definitely want to get a scoop on anime over there, before it even sees the light of day over here in the U.S. that's what I'm working on.

Thanks Capt. Am. I got the first regult you put together, and that was very detailed, so I know what you are referring to. can't wait to get this one.
-
That's alright Sqidd, I've made a few short bus special moves with my stuff too. That's how you learn. Anyways, I missed the early bird special, what were they listed at, at that time?

Like I said before, I have my money ready to go. Hopefully I can get in on the first run of this. Just send me the pm when ready. I'll send money right over. BTW, this scout looks beautiful, and it's not even detailed yet???

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The licensing debate I don't think will be much of an issue. This is WB, not HG. There are professionals there that will more than likely work out the details. If not, it could be a feature looking Robotech version of Battle Star Galactica. -
While I will be getting the 19, I'm still not too sure about the vf-1. However, it never ceases to amaze me how they will put out non-canon stuff just out of sheer love of the toyline, at least that's what I'm led to believe. I wonder if this will come out with a 25th anniv. display stand and/or a 25th ann. fold booster. I'm still hoping they do the VF-19 Kai and the Aegis Focker blue version from VFX-2. MMMMM now, that sounds like a toy to get. Then, of course they have to do the supernova version.

Exo, you are right, We are trying to find a translator now, or someone who can help with that. Since we are planning on getting interviews from directors, creators in Japan as well, we are looking at a few options there. It's a large work in progress. Glad there are about 8 of us working on this.

Does anyone have anything they'd like to see on a site like this that they don't see on other sites, or have problems with on other sites that they'd like to see resolution on a new site. We are hoping to have some interesting interviews up sometime soon, so I hope all of you who get this thread will register for the site. There should be some cool stuff to check out once it's running. BTW, thanks for checking this out.

Hey guys, A few of you know me here, so I thought I'd let all of you know that a group of my friends and I are building a site www.mechamecca.com It's not up yet, but the site is basically dedicated to all mecha anime, as well as mecha anime toys, customs, and such. Our goal is to not just have a database for the shows, but also provide news on what's out, what's on the way, and interviews. We plan to have interviews with voice actors, directors, distributors, and so-on. As this is one of my favorite sites, we will definitely link to here, but also are planning to have a section on custom toys, and medeling tips and tricks. I have a couple people in mind from here that may be able to help, but when the site is up (not until Nov. 17th), I thought I'd get the early word out, and see if anyone has an interest, or comments. the site will have a dedicated staff who, like me, love Macross. There will definitely be info there, and news, and a new forum. anyways, just wanted to let you all know.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
True, but it wouldn't be as popular with the casual fans. As a big business venture, I'm sure they are all looking at this as to how much interest, more directly, how much money will this bring in. the Macross saga is the bread and butter for Robotech. I'm sure they've got to get that under the belt before looking at any of the other series if they want to do this, and kick off the movie right. even if it's a flop, their best chance is by going with the root of it all, Macross. -
MMMMMMM,,, gunhed!!! LOL. Yeah, that's definitely up there.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm interested in seeing this movie, but what I would really hope for in this endeavor, is that it opens the door for the Macross anime that isn't over here yet, to make it's way to a good distributor. I'd like to see a clean, official sub of Macross Zero, the Macross Frontier, DYRL, and yes, even M7. that's my only hope in this. And just because the designs are old on the anime doesn't mean they have to update the design. If they do redesign them, I don't think it'll have much to resemble for Row boat tech. Very techs won't be the same without the tomcat look. Although Toby is a great actor, I don't think he's a Rick Hunter. Actually, I don't see any actor that can really play a Rick Hunter, or Hikaru, well, you get what I mean. At least the WB is doing it, a professional company, and not the current staff at HG. That would be disasterous, even moreso than it is now. well, here's to seeing if this movie puts some life into the mecha anime market, and gives Robotech some life, or kills it off. Only time will tell. -
I love the Regult I have, so put me down for this kit as well. Money is ready to go.

I got mine yesterday, just in time to take it out the box before I left for poker. Today was the day of transforming and examining it for any defects. I'm happy to report that although the wings are a bit on the fragile side, Yamato took great care into making it as solid as can be. I've managed to transform this thing twice, and I have no stress marks visible. the transformation process is about as complex as I imagine these macross valkyries will ever get (barring the Koenig Monster). However, out of a scale of 1-10, I give it an 8.75. The design is awesome, and it handles decently in my hands. If there's a 2nd issue (reissue), I'll get one of those as well, as this one is great, the reissue will only be sweeter. The box isn't that big, but the toy is huge. I'm excited about this purchase.

LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Capturing an anime into live action just doesn't seem to hit the same way, nor do the characters ever fit right. I've always been against a live action movie, and always thought that money should be used to produce more anime. However, I'm interested in seeing how this pans out. A small fanbase of a series that isn't a household name like Transformers, big money into the production. Last I heard, HG met with Hollywood producers about a year ago maybe to talk about the possibilities of a live action, so it's been in the air for sometime. They know that they won't have a highly successful show without the Macross name on it. It's obvious in the toys that sell, and the number of DVDs one series sells over the others. I hope it does well, but my gut instincts tell me that it may bomb at the box office. Especially if it's done half-assed. Just WB having the rights makes it somewhat better, and the fact that Tommy, Steve, or Kevin's names haven't been mentioned yet in this project leave more promise to it. they really need to leave this to the professionals to do this right. A live action anime can be a double edged sword for HG. It can swing and do wonders for them, or come back, and make the whole franchise worthless. -
NightmareB4Macross, you have a pic of me that I want for my Avatar with the Hikaru jacket on. Do you still have it? I forgot to mention, thanks to the vendors too, for bringing in the goods to buy. Of course, what is a con if you can't buy anything? I took the prize I won for second place in poker, sold it, and it paid for my $100 Minmay Doll. Last I checked, she didn't have kung-fu grip, so I couldn't classify her as an action figure. Oh well, first doll I guess, but one well worth it.
-
Ohhhh, yeah!!! Megan Fox!!! Great Con this year, and so glad I got in on the poker tourney this year. Finally, a double knock-out!!! Great displays, and great shows of mods, customs, and all that. Thanks Bee, for a kickass con. I'm glad I finally got a tee shirt. i missed the last two years ones. Nick, great design. A big thanks to Mari for putting together a very cool little concert. I really enjoyed that, and hearing all the old and new stuff. Also, a big thanks for signing my "doll" and the CD. Maybe next time, I can get time in, to practice playing so that I can accompany her on guitar. Good times people, everyone helped make this happen. Lots of fun, prizes, food, and bonding. Das Cul'cha!

Man oh man, OK, I want one fo sho'!!! I'll buy one.

Anasazi Decals now available through Robographics
Jasonc replied to Anasazi37's topic in The Workshop!
Did Nightstalker ever get back to doing decals. I think it's a good thing if someone takes awhile for stuff like this. it means you're getting good stuff, not crap. And to those that complained, good apeface move!!! N.S., Anasazi, please let us know if either of you are still doing any of these. I need to buy a lot of decals, and could use some help. If not, could either one of you pm me about making my own? I'm getting a high end laser jet, and wouldn't mind making some of these for People, but I would need info on paper supplies to work with a laser jet, and the spray coats that work best and methods. -
Intakes may be needed for some sort of cooling of a reactor type engine. However, I don't think air is enough to cool a reactor. More technology would be needed to cool it than actually make the engine itself.
