Still, all good reports except one, and the others aren't speaking. I wonder if those were just bogus votes by people messing up the tally. Going by responses, we are at what about 90% happy/satisfied or higher? Somehow, the poll seems a bit off with no comments on the broken side.

Ugh, anyways, Can you send me a pm on what you charge for the cyclone helmet? Unpainted? I'll be doing the painting myself. Thanks

Thee is a North Hollywood area, but that's not necessarily Hollywood. North Hollywood is more of a valley city, and thee's not much as far as points of inteest there. Now, as for Hollywood itself, parts of Hollywood north of Hollywood Blvd. and west of La Brea are pretty good. I personally like Pasadena, as it has a nightlife, is extremely close to Hollywood, and is quite a safe aea to live in. Anyways, just make sure you do some research before making your decision. each area varies, some much more than others. You just need to find the area that fits your character. I think that's the only way to really feel comfortable with where you are going to live.

If you're thinking about moving to L.A., as someone who works in Law enforcement for L.A., let me give you some advice, if you are looking for places that are out of the way of "trouble spots", I'd suggest these following areas for L.A....Hollywood, West L.A., and Mar Vista. That's for L.A. city. everywhere else is kinda a crapshoot, as I see and hear the worst of the city. For places I would move to that are close to L.A. life without all the drama 24/7, I would suggest either Glendale, Pasadena, Santa Monica, or Burbank. As with all good cities or suburban/urban type areas, the less amount of trouble, the higher the rent. West L.A. is a good area, and so is Mar Vista, not to mention close to some beach life too, which is nice. That's my $0.02 from someone who's learned a lot about our wonderful city of L.A.

MW CON 2008 picture thread
Jasonc replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Tommy probably didn't show up because he knew the ex-Robotech fans were going to be there. Sorry to scare him off like that for those of you who can't get enough of him. BTW, great con this year, and glad to finally meet the other Dinobot Misterryno. Thanks for letting our band play at the con. It was fun, and although I have a long 7 day work week to pay for it, it's things like this that show that Macross fans are the absolute best. Deculture to all of you. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I must admit, if that is all I saw, I'd be a little put off too. That said, I was fortunate that Overdrive brought it to the Anime Expo. In looking at it, posing it, and whatnot, it's much better to look at in person. I had one on preorder, but after seeing it in person, I now have two on preorder. I hope this line does well. I only have two of the 1/48s, cause they were just too big to store, and a bit to much to buy at the time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. -
My wife absolutely thought this was such a cute figure, so, green light on me getting one. I'm just waiting on an order button. Can't wait to see a finalized pic up soon.
-
Oh well, those that don't like the price will make it easier for others to find one. Usually this stuff sells, and considering the dollar's value isn't holding in these times, it's a little more of a pain. Keeping those little things in mind. People that want them bad enough (like me) will get them at the price they retail for. That's just the way it works in this super nitch market.

I concur, doctor... These new 1/60's come out in a week, and already, there's the VF-1S, VF-1A Hikaru, and previews of a VF-1D. I think I'm gonna cry. There's too many things to buy in such a short time span. I am definitely waiting on a 1d, no wait, I'm waiting on all of them. Goodbye retirement (j/k)

Macross Frontier Episode 14 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
Jasonc replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
OK, I'm wondering if anyone can fill me in here. Has anyone been able to discern the goals of the antagonists in this story? Grace obviously has some sort of goal, but is she working with or against the Vajra? If against, what is her deal with indirectly setting up the Frontier for attack? If working with the Vajra, what is the deal with her having Brera Sterne fight them? If she has her own goals, then I'm really confused. A buddy of mine and I were talking last night, and could it be that the vajra are maybe beginning to take on more human forms, or using the humans they capture as host to new bodies, or even as nest??? Talk about Invasion of the Body Snatchers! Anyways, I thought I'd throw that out there for everyone to hopefully fill-in what is known so far, so long as the spoiler tags and all that is used. Thanks -
VF-22S Conversion Parts for 1/60 Yamato YF-21
Jasonc replied to PsYcHoDyNaMiX's topic in The Workshop!
Oh yeah!!! I'd like a set too, since I'll be getting a second YF-21 for my collection. Sounds like an awesome project. -
Where did you find that ad from? I want to know where I can order one. That is just too cute.

People have many reasons to complain. Some want to complain so we can all say "ohhhh, he knows what he's talking about, he found a flaw, he's so cool". Some complain cause it's not their preference of manufacturer. Some complain cause life isn't complete without finding something to complain about. Then there are those that complain cause they just want to see a better product in the end. Either way, I'm not about to write it off over minor issues from an early design with color. From what it looked like just a couple months ago and now is a big improvement, and as long as they keep pushing for a better final product, I'm giving my thumbs up.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
At this point, I don't know how much better they can get. Yes, there's always room for slight imporvement, but at some point, you almost have to ask yourself, how much closer can it get in a scale that you prefer? I love the 1/48s, but the size of them just takes up too much space, and with the 3 display cases I do have, that doesn't leave much room for many other things. That said, if Bandai did somehow release a 1/60, I'd probably keep the Yamatos, and would buy just a couple of Bandais. Maybe one to keep, another to customize somehow. Afterall, I have a preorder for 2 of these, I'm already going to be researching for a custom project. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
From what I saw, the transformation is next to exact as far as comparison to the 1/48. the heat shield fits nicely in the body while in fighter mode, and the hands flip in through the top of the forearms, and don't simply slide in. In battroid mode, there is a sense of slimness to it, but the detail on it is something to be admired. The shorter nose cone actually makes it look better than the 1/48 in my opinion, especially in battroid mode. As for durability, it seems pretty solid. I held it and posed it in both fighter and battroid modes, and with it's new plastics, it holds up very well. The joints are nice and sturdy, but don't seem too sturdy that it may break. I asked if they could attach the fastpacks on, but the guy there said he was a little nervous about putting them on, as he did have to return it to Yamato. I'm officially selling off all my 1/55 stuff, along with my Toynami VF-1's for these. I'm definitely sold. Oh, I'll try to take more pics today, as I'll be there again. I've been dared to wear the Hikaru outfit, so I will be there today in it. Ugh!!! -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Today at Anime Expo, I had the opportunity to hold the 1/60 v.2, transfrom it a little, and examine it. I must say, I'm pretty damn impressed. It is much lighter than the 1/60 v.1 because all the diecast is out. What is left is an awesome new look to the 1/60. I'm definitely getting the set of these. Getting the hands on was exactly what I needed to fully sell me on these babies. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Has anyone found any pictures of the "under development" toy yet? I've looked on the internet, but to no avail. I think I'm still 3 valks behind in Yamatos world. Perhaps macrossworldcon08??? Hint hint -
I'm going thursday, friday, saturday. Bigkid, if you're going on saturday, give me a call. We should all meet up and hang out.
-
In having both, I've been torn between which one I like better. Since I've seen this thread, I've pondered this carefully, and I think that the 19 overall, is a more solid toy. They're about 50/50 for me, but because the 21 is so complicated to transform, I'm going with the 19. Ugh, can't the poll just have a both button?

quick question for Kirrith, do you still want the band to play? I think we'll have like one Macross song to play, and a set of other songs people should like -
Official 1/60 YF-21 News & Picture Thread (ver.2)
Jasonc replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just checked my HLJ orders, and it's on the way!!! As of two days ago. So, hopefully by this friday or Saturday, it'll be here. Time to get out the welcome home signs. -
I got mine a few days ago from one of our fav. macrossworld Japan residents. I can say that i am thoroughly happy with this rendition. It's got that look like it's been in a few skirmishes.

My re-introduction to toys started in July 2001, when I went to my first Anime Expo, and saw all the Robotech/Macross toys out there. I started with my original Jetfires as a kid in 86, and that was all. Today, after several thousands of dollars, I have a decent sized collection. One of these days, I'll post pics of it all, but for now, it's all in boxes in display cases, and in my closet. But in my opinion, it's a lot of stuff. Lots of unopened G1 Transformers, Unopen G.I. Joe toys, and tons and tons of Macross toys.
