VF-22S Conversion Parts for 1/60 Yamato YF-21
Jasonc replied to PsYcHoDyNaMiX's topic in The Workshop!
Oh yeah!!! I'd like a set too, since I'll be getting a second YF-21 for my collection. Sounds like an awesome project. -
Where did you find that ad from? I want to know where I can order one. That is just too cute.

People have many reasons to complain. Some want to complain so we can all say "ohhhh, he knows what he's talking about, he found a flaw, he's so cool". Some complain cause it's not their preference of manufacturer. Some complain cause life isn't complete without finding something to complain about. Then there are those that complain cause they just want to see a better product in the end. Either way, I'm not about to write it off over minor issues from an early design with color. From what it looked like just a couple months ago and now is a big improvement, and as long as they keep pushing for a better final product, I'm giving my thumbs up.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
At this point, I don't know how much better they can get. Yes, there's always room for slight imporvement, but at some point, you almost have to ask yourself, how much closer can it get in a scale that you prefer? I love the 1/48s, but the size of them just takes up too much space, and with the 3 display cases I do have, that doesn't leave much room for many other things. That said, if Bandai did somehow release a 1/60, I'd probably keep the Yamatos, and would buy just a couple of Bandais. Maybe one to keep, another to customize somehow. Afterall, I have a preorder for 2 of these, I'm already going to be researching for a custom project. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
From what I saw, the transformation is next to exact as far as comparison to the 1/48. the heat shield fits nicely in the body while in fighter mode, and the hands flip in through the top of the forearms, and don't simply slide in. In battroid mode, there is a sense of slimness to it, but the detail on it is something to be admired. The shorter nose cone actually makes it look better than the 1/48 in my opinion, especially in battroid mode. As for durability, it seems pretty solid. I held it and posed it in both fighter and battroid modes, and with it's new plastics, it holds up very well. The joints are nice and sturdy, but don't seem too sturdy that it may break. I asked if they could attach the fastpacks on, but the guy there said he was a little nervous about putting them on, as he did have to return it to Yamato. I'm officially selling off all my 1/55 stuff, along with my Toynami VF-1's for these. I'm definitely sold. Oh, I'll try to take more pics today, as I'll be there again. I've been dared to wear the Hikaru outfit, so I will be there today in it. Ugh!!! -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Today at Anime Expo, I had the opportunity to hold the 1/60 v.2, transfrom it a little, and examine it. I must say, I'm pretty damn impressed. It is much lighter than the 1/60 v.1 because all the diecast is out. What is left is an awesome new look to the 1/60. I'm definitely getting the set of these. Getting the hands on was exactly what I needed to fully sell me on these babies. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Has anyone found any pictures of the "under development" toy yet? I've looked on the internet, but to no avail. I think I'm still 3 valks behind in Yamatos world. Perhaps macrossworldcon08??? Hint hint -
I'm going thursday, friday, saturday. Bigkid, if you're going on saturday, give me a call. We should all meet up and hang out.
-
In having both, I've been torn between which one I like better. Since I've seen this thread, I've pondered this carefully, and I think that the 19 overall, is a more solid toy. They're about 50/50 for me, but because the 21 is so complicated to transform, I'm going with the 19. Ugh, can't the poll just have a both button?

quick question for Kirrith, do you still want the band to play? I think we'll have like one Macross song to play, and a set of other songs people should like -
Official 1/60 YF-21 News & Picture Thread (ver.2)
Jasonc replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just checked my HLJ orders, and it's on the way!!! As of two days ago. So, hopefully by this friday or Saturday, it'll be here. Time to get out the welcome home signs. -
I got mine a few days ago from one of our fav. macrossworld Japan residents. I can say that i am thoroughly happy with this rendition. It's got that look like it's been in a few skirmishes.

My re-introduction to toys started in July 2001, when I went to my first Anime Expo, and saw all the Robotech/Macross toys out there. I started with my original Jetfires as a kid in 86, and that was all. Today, after several thousands of dollars, I have a decent sized collection. One of these days, I'll post pics of it all, but for now, it's all in boxes in display cases, and in my closet. But in my opinion, it's a lot of stuff. Lots of unopened G1 Transformers, Unopen G.I. Joe toys, and tons and tons of Macross toys.

I voted no as well. I guess my reasoning is, that if it means you fork over good money to win a customs contest, that's not a good representation of creative abilities moreso than someone's wallet. what if 3 people from the same contest had customs all from the same person? I would say that it should simply be the individual's own custom. That just makes it much more exciting when someone wins, as well as relieves any questions.

If you've been able to take it off, the best way to keep it from getting there is to simply keep it in low or no damp areas, and spots where the moisture is minimal. If you haven't take the rust off yet, you can try some metal polish with a light abrasive. I've heard, but never tried a liquid called CLR that you can find in stores. But don't quote me on that one, as I have yet to try it.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I totally understand people pointing problems out. That's what's great about everyone here, the fact that we can be overly thorough in everything. Worrying too much about something though, isn't necessarily gonna help you out though. Anyways, I'm thinking that by release date, we should have a decent 1/60. Problem free? I don't know, but with this being a fix of a previous 1/60, and technology of the 1/48s already figured out for the most part, I have confidence in this toy. The VF-1 is Yamatos most remade toy I would think, so we have that bit of solice. Then again, like what was said before, if the first ends up not being as good as the later releases, ebay, my friends!!! -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
With 3 months or so to go, why is everyone freaking out on a product that probably has yet to pass final approval? While it is good that we find these things, I'm pretty sure that it's an issue that would get noticed before they go directly to pounding the parts out in a factory. It would cost them more to fix the problem than to just do it right the first time. Not that that situation never happens, but in a case like this where it's so painstakingly obvious, I'd like to have a little more confidence in a company that I spend so much money on than that. And if you don't, my question would be, why are you buying their toys? -
I scream yes, but my wallet is trying to run away from me. I will get them all, 1/72s and 1/60s. Oh yeah!

What is your opinion of Macross frontier??
Jasonc replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Movies and TV Series
I do have to agree on these statements to date. There's nothing I can complain about, and this seems to be the series we've all been waiting for for a loooooong time. -
Going strictly by price range, 1/60 (the new ones coming). You could get the 1/55 chunky monkey coming, but at $80, it's ratio of bang to the buck isn't so great. The 1/48s are around $150 each, so it's a bit pricey. Oh word to the wise, DON'T EVEN BOTHER WITH THE TOYNAMI MPCs. If you want something of quality for your budget, 1/60 is the absolute best option. If anyone disagrees, it's cool. Just my opinion.

What is your opinion of Macross frontier??
Jasonc replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Movies and TV Series
Pros; Great Mecha designs Catchy Story with depth and plot Well balanced between action and character interaction Great character design Awesome scenery and background Music is great Cons; Very slight dodgy animation and character in-between art Not enough action of the VF-171s Overall, the series is progressing nicely. For those who think the story lacks any depth, I'd like to hear your reasoning? I understand most people like to complain about things when it's not exactly what they expect, but as a story that closely resembles successful aspects of the former series and OVAs, what solid examples make it so bad? I'm not asking to debate, cause it comes down to a matter of opinion, and in a debate, the opinion means zero (0). Just want to see how some people think here on this series. -
Well, I don't think it's a bad thing they are coming out, however, I do get kinda ticked when I see a domestic company gouging the prices. I know they are going to be pricey, but I expect that from paying import prices, not from my back yard. It's business, and nothing personal, so I can't say anything bad as far as lies or anything shady from Toynami. With the chunkies coming over here, I hope it does open up the market for more Macross stuff here in the U.S., and I hope I'm not just being to optimistic.
-
To answer this question, I don't know of any,,, but, how many of them are re-re-issues of a 20+ year old, outdated design? None, and that's why it's too high of a price IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love the chunky monkey's but for all the re-issues I got, I just about paid the samp price with shipping included from Japan. I'm glad Toynami is finally doing something right by distributing these over here. I'm just not sure about the high price for the non- armored versions. For me, I'd rather spend a little more and get something that is more articulated and closer to lineart than that. I'm also just waiting on the Elintseeker and Ostrich. If they aren't made, oh well, I'm not gonna spend my money on stuff I already bought at the same price 5-6 years ago from overseas.

Macross Frontier Episode 6 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
Jasonc replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I have to agree with Wraith on the animation comments. I will say this though, on these boards, the "cool" thing to do, is to find flaws in everything, at least for many it is. I guess it's a way to stand out, I guess, but in any case, the animation compared to many other things is much better, and on the grand scale of anime out there, it's up there. I'll be waiting to see the action unfold next week, which should look to be one heck of an event. I do like the slower pace of this one, which has drilled a bit more into the depth of the characters. That makes it more of a story. Of course, that's just my opinion.
