VF-22S Conversion Parts for 1/60 Yamato YF-21
Jasonc replied to PsYcHoDyNaMiX's topic in The Workshop!
Anything new on this project? Seeing those updated pics are awesome. Hope all is well. -
Dude, that's awesome. That Officer's pod is a great addition. Severely void of any true scale, but it's not like there are any others made. Your ex seems to have no grudges too, which is good.

I always thought they fixed that issue on the YF-19 with the version with the fold booster added. Don't quote me on that, but I thought it was fixed when they came out with that. I too, would like to see a fixed version without the armor and fold booster. I want to customize my current one, and keep a good original one.

My wife's family gave me a bunch of Transformer Dinobots still MIB along with some other G1 TF. Also, I got a MIB Zartan and Swamp Speeder, G.I.Joe Hoovercraft, and a First issue G.I.Joe Scarlett (before they had the swivel arms) MOC. As for Star Wars stuff, I got a MIB Y-wing, and a bunch of droids MOC as well. As a toy collector of sorts, I was blown away by the condition of these toys. They are absolutely perfect. I'm gonna get the dinobots graded. There's always something nice about getting old toys as new ones. Oh, to relate this to Macross/Robotech, I got the Battlepod MIB as well as the Invid Shock Trooper. Very cool stuff. Congrats on the ex giving you stuff. That's always a cool thing since they usually give men nothing but grief after it's all said and done.

Yep, I just ordered the other 2 (I had ordered the Macro Klan before). Can't wait to get these.

Does that mean that casting is complete?

Alright, DVD with some extras!!! Awesome, and I can't wait.

I finally received mine a couple days ago and had the chance to put her together. It's a very cool doll, and let me say for the record, it's much bigger than a barbie. Sometime when I create some space, I'll put my Hikaru 1/100 in front of it and do the famous DYRL pic on Bodolza. As far as the proportions go, the legs are a little long, but I think that everything else is fine. I'm actually wondering how I can get the red dress and hair for that Minmay. The clothing of the figure I have now is made very well, and you can tell that a lot of care was put into that. Overall, I'm glad I made the purchase. It's an expensive item, but very limited.

You know, after watching this whole show, from beginning to end, I must congratulate everyone on the hard work they put into this. I am so freaking amazed at how well this was done. Not only was a long awaited enblish version finally finished, but one with talent that rivals the standard dubbing industry out there. Watching tons of anime myself, and having a library second only to a couple people I know, this is a work of fans, fans who really care about the work they do, and I am very thankful to have had my role in this dub. Thank you Hikuro for the opportunity to do work again. It's been a loooonnnnng time since I've done any work, and always love seeing the final product. A job well done. All the voice actors, I'm blown away, and very excited to see the work done. The female voices are phenomenal, and to put them where they are is great. The voices match, the pitch and attitude are perfect. Great job everyone On a sidenote, will there be a small run of DVD for this? I gotta get this on DVD. Too awesome!!!

I've sent in a couple auditions myself. Here's to the beginning of a very awesome project.

I'd definitely like to help with this. I can do voice acting, and help with music writing as well. I have experience in both. Anyways, it's awesome to finally see a Macross work coming out.

I must say,,, I'm thoroughly impressed with the quality of the work. Personally, I find nothing wrong with the helmet effect. It does make it more of a personal touch. I believe in a work like this, you want to find a good balance between keeping the feel of the original film, yet add your own touch to put your own signature on. Speaking of work, Hikuro, I've got more stuff to send you, and will have it to you monday. I just got another VA job as well (thankfully won't start till early next year), and I'm working on music for that same fan work. It's definitely a ride doing this stuff again. I haven't done any work in what seems like ages. Again, very impressed with the work so far...save a copy of this for me.

Long live the 2-seaters!!! This should open the door for the Elint and Ostrich v.2 1/60, and will definitely be in the wish list for VF-1 valkyries.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.2
Jasonc replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Alright, preorder in for Michel and Luca's Valkyries. Seeing necks on those, I'd like to see a neck on Ozma's Valkyrie. I'm tired of seeing the same pose over and over with no neck. Anyways, here's to hoping that problem has been worked on and solved. I did like the photoshop fix that was done. Geez, if some Macross fans actually worked on this stuff, I think we'd have awesome toys with very little complaints, then again, it wouldn't be Macrossworld if we didn't have stuff to complain about, right? LOL... -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Seeing that compared to the lineart, it appears that the nose from the front of the cockpit on needs to be elongated. I think we all agree on the tailfins needing to be more pronounced. It's my opinion that battroid doesn't look bad at all. Out of all the Valkyries, the VF-11 looks very beefy as for battroid. For fighter though, it looks a bit chunky. Could just be the photo angle, but I do think a more elongated feel for fighter would take the chunkiness out of it. Making the nose a bit longer would help. Graham, I am putting my trust in this statement. It doesn't look too detailed in those pics either, but I trust that when this thing hits the market, it'll look like a gem (crossing fingers) -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm quite sure there's a few extra things to tweak on this project before it is ready to go. The tailfins protrude more than before, hopefully they can make it protrude further. As for the shoulders, they do look a bit too big, but, it's a liberty that I don't mind all that much. I'm sure they had to do it in order to make the fighter mode look good. It doesn't appear that it's highly detailed, and since these seem to be the first pics, I have some confidence that the VF-11 will be detailed more as time goes on. So far, I definitely like what I'm seeing. It's a great Valkyrie, and I think this thing will get the just articulation and design it deserves. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
LOL, he said, "pink pecker"... anyways, the VF-11 is one of my favorite Valks in all the series. Till then, I'll take a few sack lunches to work to save up, perhaps to buy a couple of them. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Jasonc replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Awesome news!!! So, I have some time to save up my poker winnings for the VF-11. I'm surprised there are absolutely no pics of this thing under development. C'mon Yamato, that's what talks to our wallets, the pics.!!! -
Hmm Airbrushes are great, but for these, good and inexpensive usually don't go hand in hand. I bought an Iwata HP-c, and it was about $125. I bought a compressor too, cause sometimes, the cans can be unpredictable. anyways, I think this custom is very nice. Great work. Also, if you don't wanna go the airbrush route, you can always use spray cans. I do most of my custom work with spray cans, little airbrushing.

1/55 Swivel Thigh Mod - BIC Pen Method (Streamlined)
Jasonc replied to Skull-1's topic in The Workshop!
Yep, with an absurd amount of 1/55 parts, I tested different cuts and angles. It was a pain to find an angle that would benefit Gerwalk and battroid... in conclusion, my cut angle. I wish I remembered the type of pen that I used, cause I used one that had a nice, stiff connection. I have another let worked out that actually has knee joints, courtesy of MB4M, and tweaked by myself. Someday, I will work on my last custom 1/55 and show the swivel 1/55 leg with adjustable feet and movable knee joint. The Elintseeker custom was my 2nd attempt at the pen swivel custom, and it is an easy, yet simple customizing trick to get that awesome "A" stance from your 1/55s. I do miss the days when 1/55 customs were all over the place here. With the new Yamato 1/60s, even 1/48s, they are so articulated, there's not much needed for modding now. It's more painting now, but reading threads like these are great. Makes me want to get my tools out and work. -
Well, $100 is quite expensive, but I will try to only get the Max Q-rau. That's one I've been waiting on. I'm looking for another red version to do a Macross Frontier Klan Klan custom. The CMS fig of her next to it should be a very nice display.

1/55 Swivel Thigh Mod - BIC Pen Method (Streamlined)
Jasonc replied to Skull-1's topic in The Workshop!
I put up a thread sometime ago with a custom VE-1 Elintseeker that I did this mod on. The pics are somewhere on this site, but here they are. Since the last pics you'll see, they've been imporved quite a bit. They're also not the greatest pics, but here they are. you might have to rotate the pics too. -
while I have been one of the "fortunate ones" not to have any serious problems with my Yamato toys, that's not to say that I am not worried about them. There are slight issues I've had with quite a few of my Yamatos, but at the same time, they've been minimal. I'm not gonna say what company is better (yamato or bandai)...to be honest, I don't have enought Bandai hi detailed toys to make a conclusion. It seems like both companies have taken a different approach in the way they are going to present their Macross toy lines. Being used to Yamato, I love the attention to detail, and how far the company has come in their toy designs. As far as Bandai, my only impression has been that of sturdy toys, without much detail. As for the question as to if I prefer detail over sturdiness, I'd probably choose detail, but with the same token, it should be possible to have both. My Yamato experience has been pretty good so far, and I hope they continue to produce Macross product. The day it all stops, I think the excitement will start to diminish. Hopefully with more stuff like Macross F, and what's been coming out, Macross products will continue to grace us with their presence.
