Shopping at F&S and Lunch on Dec 20th
Jasonc replied to jet660's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Very good to see another fan back on board. I hope more people read this thread, but are we all still meeting up on friday to see Save off to Japan in a celebratory fashion??? If so, I'm out of work at 10:30 in the evening, so if we all go out drinking or whatnot, count me in. I gotta buy Save a round. -
That's great!!! So, it'll have the subs for Zentraedi and Meltrandi as well? Does it have a chapter menu? Man, can't wait to make the DVD.

PICs of MPC Toynami Robotech Beta Fighter
Jasonc replied to nugundamII's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Finally got mine today, #445. A pretty good number. I think I'm gonna try to get a 2nd, one for display w/ the alpha, other for battloid mode. I think it's one of Toynami's only successful transformable toys, aside from Voltron. Going with that though, I noticed on the card that engineering went to Aoshima,,, so perhaps that's the reason why it's actually a good toy. -
Coming home for Christmas lets have a meet up!

Since nobody told me, I almost missed it, but I'll be there tomorrow, or today, ugh, you get what I mean. -
Hnmmm, can't say that I've had any issues with mine at all, and I've taken it out several times and have transformed it quite a few times. The sale is quite good, I'm hoping to pick up one of the mass production versions. I do hope the sale last for awhile, as I'm also short on cash from Christmas shopping.

PICs of MPC Toynami Robotech Beta Fighter

That's a good thing then. I think the legs look a little anorexic, but other than that, it looks quite good. I ordered mine from bbts.com, and should be here soon. Ahhh, even has the chest missiles, good to see. If it feels solid enough, I may get more. So far, I've heard good things only. Perhaps it'll be the only good toy Toynami has ever made that transforms. -
It's definitely a great CG model. Putting a good skin on it, and rendering it cel shaded could give it a great finish for an anime-style CG show. You can tell a lot of work has been put into that VF-4. Great work, and I don't say that lightly.

Before this thread gets moved, may I ask what the thinking was of having the top mounted missile bay removable??? Is it a function to make it transformable? I don't get it. -
Cool, sounds great. If you need any VA fills, let me know. I finally got my mini sound studio fixed up and have a nice high end mic to use, LOL. Was the youtube link you sent the final sound test? If so, sound is great. From one who works a lot in sound, hahaha.

I think it's two things that make that pose look goofy. 1) The nosecone part that is supposed to be pushed up, isn't. Thus, it makes the neck look much longer than it does in real life. 2)That stupid cowboy stand just makes me laugh...it kinda has a John Wayne-like pose, but not nearly as cool as the man. For the Hikaru VF-1S, I haven't even ordered this yet. My wallet needs a little break. Even with a great job, these things are killing the account. Perhaps in January I'll get mine. I think I've been fortunate with these, as every one I've had has had no problems with exploding shoulders and all that. The only thing I am bothered by is that they could've released the Hikaru 1S later and released other ones prior. I mean I have the Hikaru 1A and what's the big difference, the head and the tampoed number of the plane? I wanna see my M&M come out, at that point, I'll be salavating.

Sound mixing sounds pretty good so far. I didn't get a chance to lisen to it extensively, but the levels seem ok. The only problems I've had mainly with mixing of anime (not from you) has been the overly loud effects, and too quiet voice tracks, or vice versa. So far, great work. Keep it up.

Well, I just take a guess at the spelling. It's both I guess. But yeah, the outfits on those scans I think are representative of 2016 through about 202something perhaps. It should fit right around your project. The game spans a good amount of time, so I don't have the exact details, but I think you have the right idea for some of the military attire from that timeline.

Look, I can understand people who may not be too happy because they can't afford all the toys that are coming out. I was at that point once too. However, you can't call a company greedy just cause their product is expensive in your opinion. The hard fact is, is that Yamato is a company to make money, they aren't a company to produce toys for nothing. Even arguing about their cost to profit ratio is a waste of time. If I owned my own company and sold a product that was in a sort of demand, I'd want to make as much money as possible. How can a company that's selling their product at a good rate be greedy? It's a company that has to produce/sell items based on the market, and if the market is dictating to them that they can sell a Valkyrie at $200, why would they just decide to sell it for much less? I'm sure if you were in their position and knew that people will buy your product at $200 max, you'd sell it at that, and would be just happy knowing that you are making a great amount of dough. Sometimes I get a sense that we (yes even I) feel a sense of entitlement from these companies because we are fans, or because we buy so many products from Yamato. If you take the mindset that they are still a company trying to make themselves, shareholders, and investors happy, it's easy to see that they are not being greedy at all. If I'm coming off harsh, I apologize, but in the same light, someone who makes $8/hour isn't going to go out and buy a Mercedes overnight. It's the way the world turns. Cheer up though, we're debating toys, it's not like we're complaining about being able to afford food. God, forbid that from happening.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.2
Jasonc replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I guess the good thing about buying through overdrive is that they charged me the day I preordered, which means that the dollar was much better than it is now. In looking at the new issue of Macross Chronicle, it has the pics of the VF-25 toy. I'm ok with it, except for the Ozma turtle neck. It seems like they went to some lengths to stretch out the feet, but on the other end, it looks smashed down. Sad how one of the best looking of the VF-25s is gonna look like a timid dork amongst the other valks Bandai is putting out and amongst the Yamato products. As for the hip issue, I don't think it's too bad. Overall (with exception to the Ozma ver.) I think they look good. I'm more excited about Luca and Michael's sets, as those look most promising. -
Just to add an update, I've been working on some music you may like. It's got one of those eerily happy sounds. Kinda like a children's song that has a black cloud over it. Also got some other stuff I'm working on too. Just gotta get the recorder together, and I'll send it over. The rest of the band is up for the music, and we have our own music and recording studio in full swing now. Just a quick update.

Is that what you were looking for? There not much else except for small pix of the valkyries of the game, and if you were looking for any of those, you may want to look at the Shoji Kawamori design books, as those have better lineart than the manual.

Will any other companies make a Legioss transformable toy in the futur
Jasonc replied to funkycatspangky's topic in Toys
Sadly, the only other option now is the Robotech MPC version. It's not horrible, but has it's own set of problems with QC. -
http://s174.photobucket.com/albums/w93/jas...2/Macross%20M3/ Let's hope this works.

OK, second attempt

OK, here's the pics I got, as hi-res as possible. Correction...This site is not letting me upload anything, damnit!!!

I don't think they're being greedy. At the prices they set for their items, they do sell. It's not really a matter of being greedy or not, it's all about being capitalistic. As with most companies, you want to sell an item at the highest price possible without losing customers, and still keeping in good competition with your competitors. The fact that Yamato doesn't really have much of a competitor for its Macross line, they just need to sell their items where they won't lose customers. That said, while the prices are high due to economics, and just cause it's a specialty market, I don't think they're being greedy.

I use surgical scissors. Don't know how easy/difficult they are to get, but they do the job quite well for me.

VF-22S Conversion Parts for 1/60 Yamato YF-21
Jasonc replied to PsYcHoDyNaMiX's topic in The Workshop!
Yeah, what Ruskii said. We know you got a lot going on, so if there's nothing yet, don't worry. we got time. At least till 2012 when the world ends. -
Why did I just hear Sean Connery's voice in that statement? Hahaha, hopefully tommorow. Trying to get the day off. If so, I'll be sending it then.
