Still working away on this baby, and it's looking good. When the time comes, guys, it'll be worth the wait to have scanlation. Gubab, if the route of just using a text file is taken, I won't be offended or upset. While I do want to help on this for the good of all the great people on this board and for myself, if it came down to you not being comfortable releasing it, I'd have no problem with that. It's your scans, your translations. I'm just helping put it together. As it stands now, it does seem like it'll be available when more time passes. It's basically the principle that we all want Macross Ace to do very well, which it has. Every sale counts, and if we prevent any sales of it by releasing the meat and potatoes of the book, we are doing more damage to the franchise than good. Anyways, it's great that so far, everyone understands. For those that have no plans to buy this book just out of not being able to understand Japanese, heck, it's still a great book to have just for the pics alone. Lots of cool eye candy.

Here here, to Pine-sol. I've been using it for a long time. What's really great about it is that it doesn't warp the plastic or make it brittle. Glad you found the "juice to get the paint loose"

Just goes to show that there's always some prick in a good group. Sad thing is, whoever did get it off here probably isn't even man enough to admit their mistake. Then these people wonder why fellow fans with certain skills don't do things for the rest. All for the sake of being "cool" on another site, what a dumb@ss!!!

Depends on what file type the sections download as. If they are .avi or something like that, you'll need a converter software to convert those to DVD format, I believe. That's what I had to do a month or so ago to get it on DVD. In anycase, I'm sure there's someone converting it now, or someone who's done it already that can help you more effectively.

CF 1J goodness!!! Although, I do admit, at this point, it'd be nice if they did add a 1A head in the box. So, now, if they produce a CF 1A later, are we supposed to buy that as well? I think that would cause me not to buy every one of them. I still have yet to get the Hikky DYRL 1S for this same reason. On the color of the brown, I think it's just fine. I like the lighter color, not so doodoo brown if you know what I mean. I welcome the obscure valks. So with that, bring on the Alaska green, the black valks, and all the others, yes even the angel bird.

Hey, I got a mic. Anyways, I could be 1 of 2. If you need any work done, let me know. I know you got your other project going, so keep us updated on that too.

Well, if I had to make a list of Valkyrie and Macross wants, it'd definitely be: 1)VF-4 2)VA-3 3)VF-0D 4)1/60 Regult 5)VF-2SS I doubt we'll ever see the VA-3, but it's such an abstract Valkyrie, it would be damn cool in it's own right.

MW CON 2008 picture thread

She's also Valkyrie22 and RazorX's daughter, and 16. Might not want to go that route. -
Thanks for posting the link for the cover. I'm exhausted from a busy work week and being on here and being able to find a quick reference helps for my trip to Kinokuniya tomorrow, downtown L.A. So, about $26, is there anything different in it than what's in all the other books? I've bought them all so far, and I maybe skeptical if all it is is just repeat pics.

Very true. Depending on what you like, 1/48 or the new 1/60 from Yamato, the slight extra money you'd pay for those is definitely worth it in buyer satisfaction. I was quite disappointed in the MPC vol.1s when they came out, and quite a few of the ones I had were basically unusable. I have tons of spare parts for these things, and lots of accessories. The quality of them is just very poor. Saying that, I do also have to agree that the YF-1R is probably the most solid out of all of the "MPCs". The head and color are cool, it's sad that a cool non-canon veritech/valkyrie is on such a poorly made frame.

California Macross Launch Celebration?
Jasonc replied to Ginrai's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
I wouldn't worry about being "upped" by a house party with a t-shirt and some coin. Think about it, how many years have there been macrossworld cons with all the frills and thrills. Ha, we've had shirts, products by Mikimoto raffled off, prizes, mari Iijima, poker tourneys, game rooms, presentations, rare and custom displays, Macross stuff to buy, and Booby Trap (my band, LOL). I would consider going to the Robotech gathering, but I'm probably not invited. I've been excommunicated for not liking all of their product. What you're really only missing is 20 people hanging out for a BBQ, not doing much else. Back in the day when I was throwing the parties, those were the parties that were worth going to. Same for the ones that RazorX would throw. If you go to the Robotech party, that'll be pretty cool, but I don't think you're missing much. Hey, they're celebrating Macross, not Robotech, cause without one, the other would never have existed. So, is the party still in Lakewood, CA for the Macross party? Fill us in... DECULTCHA!!! -
Dude, that pic is scary as hell. Anyways, I'm trying to find where to get the jackets from Macross Frontier from. I've got some green cargo pants and the tank top, so if anyone has a link to buy one, or can direct me, I'd much appreciate it. Oh, and I don't wanna make one. I can customize toys, not good at fabric.

QFT Oh, and Schizo, I wasn't coming after you. The good thing is that I've been noticing more and more people who were just lurkers and are now posting after ages of just reading. Probably cause whatever they want to say has already been said 10,000 times before. I let my friend view this project ahile back, and he was blown away. He thought it was big time studio quality. That said, Hikuro, you have people waiting for your next project that you've never heard from.

As a 30+er myself, that is one cool present. Happy birthday, man. My wife for Christmas got me the MPC Beta, and as my birthday is coming up on the 21st, I'm always surprised at what my wife does. She's also a fan, so that does help. Awesome gift too. I've handled the WAVE SDF-1, but never got one. Congrats, consider yourself hooked up!!!

As one who used to own at least 25+ of these (don't ask why or how), they were all pretty bad, as far as aesthetics. I will say that they didn't have as many issues as the MPC Alphas, but they did have issues. Some had floppy legs, brittle plastic prone to chipping, overpaint, and a chunky look. I don't know why it was called "Masterpiece". It was basically a mal-nourished version of the Hi-Metal 1/72s, with more accessories and a pretty box. If you're interested in a Jack Archer, find the cheapest one possible, or even a broken one, and take the head and use it on one of the new 1/60 v.2s as a custom. That's what I'm working on now, at least the logistics of it.

When my wife and I brought up names for our children (if we had a girl), I brought up Minmei. I, along with what seems the rest of you, got shot down in a blaze of glory on that. My wife is a Macross fan as well, and never liked Minmay, although, I think that was more do to the butchering Robotech did to her. I tried to get creative with girl names, and because my last name fit, that character from Gundam Seed, Lacys (Lacus?) was going to be a second choice. Also, I've never been sure of what Klan's last name really is, since I've seen like 4 or 5 different spellings, but Klan Cline is another option. But I'm probably gonna get shot down on that too. My wife wants to name a girl Kira when that time comes. As for people with Macross named children, it's my buddy and his wife, both great friends of mine, who have a boy and girl named Max and Miriya. That always has just been a conversation point, and a good story.

What matters most is that he's still here with us... annnnnd, this thread has enough interest for him to post after long stints of not posting. I certainly had my times when I wouldn't post for quite sometime. What may be absurd to you may be just fine for others. My wife was on this site way before we even met, and her original screenname had maybe 2 or 3 posts. That was ages ago. I'm also sure that there's people who just want info, and don't need to talk to all the rabid Macross fans, or maybe don't want to get their head chewed off cause they call Hikaru by Rick Hunter, and so on. Anyways, just my thoughts. I'm glad the links are up for everyone. There was a ton of work done on this project, and every single person who has seen DYRL should give this version a view.

California Macross Launch Celebration?

Any SoCal people doing this??? -
I'm not sure I'd see it at the theater. There's quite a few things that work for us...1)The new trend is previews is to almost show every good scene of a movie, and give you the plot before the movie even is out. That may help determine if it's even worth it. 2)If you really don't like Robotech, and the direction it's taken, there are plenty of torrent sites, and other resources to get it without counting as a "sale" for a franchise you don't believe in. For me, the franchise has just gone so far down the hill, that it no longer has any weight or interest. And despite how much they try to argue their point that Robotech is a growing franchise, the fact is, they can't even get many people to go to their gatherings anymore. People don't log onto their site as much, if at all. I say that for this reason: I'm still questioning if the movie will even get done. Transformers had a much stronger fanbase, and was, for the most part, a household name back when. Robotech never really was, although I'm sure Kevin McKeever will try to argue that. I'm sure WB knows that to some extent, and may be a little skeptical about this project. As for taking what the RT staff at HG says, c'mon, they aren't going to tell what's really going on with the franchise. Everything is roses over there. Afterall, they are cutting their paycheck, so you can best bet anything that comes from McKeever is scripted and half truth.

When the translations start, I may not be able to translate, but my photoshop skills are pretty damn good. Not only that, my wife is a graphics designer and can help me with extra fonts and other stuff to get a beautifully translated version. Anyways, just thought I'd throw that in if anyone is interested or may need help soon, or down the line.

Just thought I'd give you an update. I recopied the DVD, and it works perfectly. Got a favor to ask though, can you send me the graffic you used on the DVD title side? I want to print up another one and put it on my new copy. Don't worry, I'm keeping this copy for myself. If not, that's cool, I guess I can always make another one.
-
LOL, if Bobby was open, I'd audition for that too. He's definitely one of the softest manly men in anime, hahaha. I guess it's good to know that there's a lot of people interested in the project. I've also had some friends watch the DYRL english dub, and were quite amazed at the quality of work done from everyone on that. Sooooo, you definitely have gained some clout in your abilities. Can't wait to hopefully work on this project.

Any update on the VAs??? Can't wait to start seeing this come to life.
-
Hey, quick question, I just got the DVD today, and as I was watching it through, there's a couple parts at the end that start freezing up. Do you think if I try copying on another DVD that it'll fix the problem?

The only thing I can hope for is that they add more manga stories as the issues go on. I do like Macross the First, and although the story is a retelling, the artwork isn't, and it's great art. I thought there was a bit too much Frontier manga in there, but then again, it's the time for Macross Frontier. I would've liked to see more side stories as well, something like Macross M3 videogame, and the missions of Max and Milia, or even the story of the Megaroad 1. Who knows.
