  1. Hikaru and Minmay look scared Sh*tle$$!!! That expression is just priceless. I feel an episode of Robot Chicken coming on somewhere. LOL, Great job on the weathering.
  2. If that tidbit of info came from a movie director with some clout in the industry, it appears he knows what could be a hit vs. miss for HG. What I always found funny was that bit that HG didn't seem to think the meeting went too well, and seemed to dismiss the suggestions of a successful director. I feel bad for all the RT fanboys under the impression that the Live action movie will be a Shadow Chronicles adaptation. I think WB has better research and brains to know that that won't appen. I'd be surprised if it did. Why would they pick the absolute worst thing to come out of the RT franchise, and make it into a movie?
  3. Going off voice work alone, he was very good in FMA, and good in Full metal Panic, but most of the other stuff does sound the same. He's kinda used a bit too much. Hikuro, I'll help round up a posse.
  4. That was one thing that really got me. I had planned to by those ADV Macross DVDs cause they were better quality than the Animeigo DVDs, but when I heard the english dubbed version, I was appauled. Roy sounds like a gay trucker, Hikaru sounds like a blonde haired white boy (like Vic), and Mari butchered english, even though she's been here for how long? Misa was fine, but everytime they Muh-Cross, it was like nails on a chalkboard. I'd like to see the other Max or Roy cosplay uniforms, send those in, someone.
  5. From what I know, HG didn't receive many, if any offers for a Robotech movie. A number of years ago, HG invited Tom Desanto (one of the producers of Transformers) over to talk about the possibility of a Robotech movie. What was interesting, was that Mr. DeSanto quite plainly stated that if the movie was going to have a chance of success, it would have to be about the Macross Saga. He also told them that they need to be realistic. Transformers is a household name, where even mothers and fathers can identify the name. Robotech, on the other hand, isn't. From what I was told by one of Tommy's contacts, that meeting was kinda put a little short. It seems to me that Tommy, Steve, and Kevin didn't want to realize the truth, that the franchise just isn't as popular as they want to make Frank Agrama believe, or they themselves. It does appear that after Transformers came out, it gave the genre some clout in the industry, and that helped make the movie seem more marketable. One thing seems quite certain, it's gonna need to be a damn good film to succeed, cause anything less is gonna end up like Speed Racer, probably like Dragonball, and also like Street Fighter. I do agree that Robotech LAM, if they want a chance at success, needs to retell their Macross Saga. It just doesn't make sense to start a movie on the aftermath of the a 3 part series. Yes, I know Star Wars did, but that was Star Wars, this is Robotech. When people still think of Robotech, for those that do know of it, still either think of Rick Hunter and Skull Leader, or "those motorcycles". Macross is remembered most in the whole RT trilogy. It would be absolutely stupid to make a movie with the lesser of the popular timelines.
  6. Oh, do tell!!!

    Models vs. Toys

When it comes to the VF-25 models vs. the toys, I can't really provide an explanation. I don't have any of the kits, so my only guess is that although they do transform, they aren't build with the idea that they'll be transformed and played with like toys. That said, the materials are much less in cost, so some of that savings can go into detail? In most other cases, models are designed to be in a static condition (they mostly don't transform or even move too much off display cases. For that reason, the general model will have better detail, as it will be built in a position where other areas that aren't seen do not need to be as detailed as the external visual parts. I could be totally wrong, but some of that would make sense.
  8. Thanks for the pics, Dartallion. That was one awesome year (2005? or 2006?) 2005 was the best, 2006 a decent second. After that,....tumbleweed
  9. Tom probably doesn't want his pic put up on here, but what would be cool is if I could find the pics of when VA Vic Mignona was trying on the jacket (ADV's VA for Hikaru of the english dub of Macross) I'd like to work on an Isamu Dyson flight suit, that would just be too awesome. Are there any Macross Plus cosplay pics around?
  10. They've banned a couple other people for stuff they've posted on other boards, I wasn't referring to myself. The only thing you get as a mod, is you get to go to the commander forum Which basically talks about nothing. While there are a select 1 or 2 commanders there that lightly mod there and don't act like a shrewd fanboy on crack, most do. I think it's just something that they feel they need in order to fill some Robotech fantasy that they really are a commander, and that they are a part of something big, if even a big lie. When I was asked to be a mod, they kniew I had criticisms about certain things, it was only the release of RTSC that really made them take everything personal. It's sad for them, cause they lost a lot of steam when they decided to break ties with those that helped them. It's funny, cause everytime I goto that site, it's either got the same complaints as always, or there's the same posts with the same 5 people posting.
  11. I'm gonna be getting each one. I'm totally hung up on the Max Jenius helmet. I'm also saving long term for the 1/2000 SDF, I may be cramped for space by the beginning of next year.
  12. From all I know, and have known, Seto is probably on thin ice right now just for posting on here. I've heard stories of people getting banned for what they write in other forums, and that was verified. When I had my account over there, I moved up to Commander status. No big deal, I did a little moderating and whatnot. Anyways, after RTSC came out, I had some criticisms about it. I never attacked anyone over there, but definitely had stated what general complaints I had felt and heard on the net. Anyways, to make a long story short, one day I get an email saying that they were demoting me for something like leaking some classified information (whatever that meant), attacking the staff (didn't know basic criticism of a show was attacking anyone), and for supposedly banning someone (never had done it before, but supposedly I did). Anyways, that was their way of handling criticism. It also didn't help that I am a friend of Tom Bateman. I don't have any hatred or urning to get even with any of them. I'd like them to do something good, however, I don't like to spend my time worrying about people who have the mentality of children. If they want to believe they are growing, and doing well, everybody has an idea of how things are, even if totally skewed. I was always a Macross fan moreso than Robotech. So when all that went down, I decided I'd just leave it where it's headed. I still have friends over there, and Memo is still one of them, along with several others, but like someone pointed out, most of the ones who helped keep that site going strong are gone. I did make sure to tell those I was good friends with over there the "politics" of what happened, and many of them are just seldom visitors now. It'd be nice if they got their stuff together and created their own stuff, mecha, characters, and made a story based on all that. There's only so much time before you have to ween the baby off the bottle, and the time comes for them to start fending for themselves.
  13. I've done the folding boxes idea to some extent. It's important for 2 reasons. 1)Transportaion, if you need to move, the boxes help with protection and organization and 2)Reselling, if you ever need to sell a Valk, you won't have to sell it cheap cause you don't have the box. NB4M got the idea right.
  14. The total for my Hikaru helmet is gonna be about $550, shipping included. Much better than $1800. At that price, you can buy all 3 of them. Man, I'm already putting money away for the other 3, as I knew they were coming. Got $400 saved up in change already. Now, didn't the first release of the Yamato helmets have a purple visor helmet? If that's the case, I'll be looking for that one, too.
  15. I think I have extra pics of the outfit somewhere on another computer that is put away. If I can get those images out, I'll see if I can get the one of the back. As far as material for the shirt underneath, it's a stretchy typs fabri. Also, the neck part of it is like a collar that connects at the top, then buttons at the base of the line around the sternum. The suit probably needs to head to a dry cleaner, but it's held up well. Probably also needs a little bit of sowing, but not too much. As far as my wife as Misa, she wore it once just to see what it would look like, but it didn't really fit her. She has a much smaller body than the costume designer made. I guess a taylor could fit the skirt or take it in. I have a couple pics, but she didn't want them put up, so I have to respect her decision. Also, since she frequents this site, it would be bad if she saw them here (in her opinion), but I think she looks fine in it. Mercurial, you should post up pics. I'd like to see what youve put together. Also, it's your work. I don't have any sewing skills, or costume making skills at all, so to see something you made would be cool.
  16. It's pretty intricate, it's zippered inside, all pockets are functional, and it's designed to wear. The only thing is that the jacket is thick, and tight (not tight fitting). I guess that kinda fits the feel of military dress jackets. Movement is a little restrictive, but that's the way it is. As far as setting me back, I think it was about $800 or so. Again, it's not cut and paste material, althought the boots need some touch up work. Anyways, I may display it at MWcon 09 as well.
  17. Just sent in my 50% payment to secure my helmet, and am now just waiting.
  18. And, here's my own cosplay, made from an actual costume designer. This is made ot of the same fabric (jacket) that is from the Marin A-class fatigues. Anyways, without further ado, here it is. Last one
  19. Hey, just gauging interest here from those setting this up and whatnot, but as you see my avatar, my wife did the design, and I was thinking of making t-shirts with this one, and perhaps a Hikaru one. I'm just gauging interest now, and seeing what the general consensus would be for them. Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there. Let me know.
  20. Perhaps it'll be out Cinco de Mayo (May 5th). I can get my VF-11 w/ a Corona and a sombrero. Seriously though, the wait on this is killing me. While I do like the VF-1s that are coming, for the most part, they are all the same (except the 2 seaters). Seeing stuff that isn't the norm is what I really like, and waiting on this is like being a kid again waiting for Christmas day. I can't wait to see new pics too. Perhaps that will quench my desire for a bit.
  21. Then I must say, good job on capturing the drama of the moment in that scene with proper music. It fits nicely, and no issues it seems.
  22. Well, she does Sheryl proud. I do have to say unfortunately, I haven't seen a cute "American" Sheryl yet. Most cosplayer woman are usually a little on the extra chunky side. Most anime characters have that size 0 to size 6 body at most. Stupid Fast food nation. This year, I'll have a camera for anime expo.
  23. Yeah, I agree, your avatar rocks!!! Makes me think of Duran Duran (...And I'm hungry like the wollllllfff!!!) Damn, I'm a child of the 80s.
  24. The Macro Klan is a great cosplay, too bad she's not all that hot (IMHO). But great work on the costume. Hmmm, maybe I'll dork out this year and do Bobby for Anime Expo. Hahaha
  25. In going back to this, Medmapguy was doing a lot of art and contributing to making this publication. The person he was working with, I believe might have been a member here, was in talks with Tommy and co. Well, to make a long story short, Medmapguy had some choice things to say about the way the franchise and story was going. Somehow, Tommy was pointed to his blog, and read it. So, Tommy took offense to it, and decided that the fan publication was a no go unless Medmapguy was cut out of it. So, being the great "professional" that Tommy is, he basically said, in not such short words, that if the publication is to be made, MedMapGuy, and his work, have to be cut from the publication. As to what extent, and after that, I don't know what happened from there. All-in-all, much of MMG's work was for not, as he was one of the big original contributors to the work. Really kinda sad. As far as a "Robotech Codice", the idea very well could've been thought of before Macross Chronicle, but they seem to be 2 totally different things. 1)Macross Chronicle is a licensed product, with stats and details from the creators, while Robotech Codice is 2)Seeming to be another fan project taken from the original creators, and from other half-baked books. I will say, that if Memo is working on it, that's a good thing. At least they have someone dedicated. It also means that Tommy and Co. are helping out to some extent or another. The drawback is that HG's lack of doing anything with true originality again is shown. Also, they're just gonna leave it to the fans to do all the work, while they pretend to be doing stuff with Shadow Rising, and act as if they are in charge of the Live action movie.
