  1. Seems like a decent idea, but I'd make my decision upon knowledge of the price. Don't wanna make a commitment and then realize I need a loan for them.
  2. I don't think this guy is necessarily upstaging Kasdan and the rest...it seems like the pickings are getting slim more like. While these writers get paid good money to do their job, even for a draft, they probably got this guy cause other bigger names perhaps, don't have the time, or don't feel it's gonna enhance their resume. This news doesn't surprise me in the least. Last year for AX, HG had some stupid saying (when Kasdan was writing at the time), look who we got writing the story!!! He's known for (then they listed on a powerpoint the list of Kasdan's work). The truth was, HG didn't even do that, it was WB. So, now that bottomed out, they got Gough and Miller, and now they are done. Since we just don't know, they either found a writer they really do like, or they may not have great choices of who they want. Either way, this new news means absolutely nothing. Just more delay for them really, cause now they gotta wait and see if this guy can produce, and then, hope that it all pans out to make it.
  3. From what they've shown from their previous track record(s), they seem to have a tendency to either be a day late, a buck short, or simply way behind on getting the 8-ball. With Robotech 3000, they tried to release it and appeal to the fans when that ultra cheesy CG rendering was on its way out, and was already old and over-done. When it comes to releasing things at wrong times, they missed the boat on selling their Shadow Chronicles for the Christmas season simply to get it in a store that probably didn't change too much. The LAM seems to be trying to ride off of the 80s cartoon craze of TF, but with TF coming this Wednesday, and absolutely no news of Robotech on the silver screen, it's all sketchy projections right now. And it's very much agreed that the no news is good news doesn't work. There's also the saying, out of sight, out of mind. We talk about it here, but with such a small group, and not necessarily a positive outlook on it, it looks like the only "buzz" is rt.com, and they're losing steam, plain and simple.
  4. Very true, perhaps instead of spending time to cover up their lack of progress, and making general blanket statements full of holes, they should use that time to actually do something worth talking about. It has become apparent that their so used to trying to put out fires, that they have sacrificed actual building. It could be that Tommy and co. have grown a sense of fear that what they are trying to do will be ever so harshly criticized as Shadow Chronicles, thus the reason why they have absolutely nothing for Shadow Rising. Could also be that they're just trying so hard to "wow" everyone, that they stuck themselves in a writer's block. Could be that WB really doesn't want a possible LAM tainted by more crap, who knows. What is certain, is that as people on the "outside" of this matter, can only go by what is in front of us. In my profession, I have to deal with what is given to me, and call it as it is shown, not just by what is said. From that, I process that info and need to make quick, sound judgements on how to interpret it. The final outcome needs to reflect what is given, what is processed, and what is going to ensure that all parties involved are safe (that no harm is done to anyone, or lives lost). While it's a far stretch to some, the "No information" on behalf of HG and it's ever so wannabe wise staff think this means a lot to people, that somehow we are to interpret that as them working hard.... um no. I see it as they have no information because nothing has transpired since the last tidbit that occurred maybe a year or so ago. The facts they bring are that they divert the attention of Shadow rising and the LAM to other things, and their statement of we're doing a lot and hard at work but we don't have anything to tell is B.S. Excuse the language, but you can't bullshit the bullshitter (for those that don't know, a term meaning you can't fool someone who knows your game). I'm sure if they all-of-a sudden had some new info, they'd try to point the finger at us "naysayers" as they call us, but it has nothing to do with that. I like to deal in facts, and right now, I can't take anything they say as such. Show me something, and I'll believe you're still alive over there. Sad thing is, that won't mean that still won't mean they have a good product. That's an entirely different mess I don't think the current staff has the skills to overcome and make.
  5. I love reading that stuff for comedy sake. WOM??? The only people that really bought into their crap is their fanbase. The WOM didn't do a damn thing, nor is the website record breaking. At this point, it's more of a "whatever you say, Bill!" If there's a good group of fans that want to believe the hype, ignorance is bliss for them. I'm in bliss over knowing truth. As for the action in that rt.com thread, there is action going on w/ the LAM, they're waiting. Waiting is action in and of itself. The movie is on hiatus (I know Kevin hates his own words, but he needs a dictionary).
  6. Those are good, but lineart is better. At least that way, I can stare at a pic and replicate it. DVD is a little tricky trying to find good segments of the movie, angles, light, detail, etc.
  7. Nobody's got any pics of DYRL flight suits? I've been debating what suit I should do, Max, Hikaru, or Roy? In anycase, any pics would help tremendously. I have on order a Nomex flight suit, and will be getting the materials to make the hard parts soon.
  8. I'd say, if you can't find the Animeigo versions, the ADV are good for the Subbed versions, and do the job. I bought them simply for the purpose of listening to them in Japanese. At least they were gracious enough to do that.
  9. LOL, I'll refer to the sig Are you sure you've seen Joe before? Joe's tan complexion, shaved head, and his wife is tan complexion, philipino decent. Ah well, no biggie. Don't worry bout it. I did have a question for those who visit this thread, I'm working on a DYRL flight suit, and wanted to know if anyone can post up some good lineart (also in color if available). I'm gonna work on the chest and backpack, as well as the forearm and leg pieces very shortely, and need some good reference pics. What sucks is that out of all the pics I have saved, I can't seem to find good pics of it. Any character will do. I want a costume to go with the Yamato helmets I've ordered. Thanks in advance.
  10. Can't say that I did. Although, with 4 model kits of my own of the model kit, and 2 of them built, I could definitely use a toy of these Valks about now. 1/100 scale is super small for detail, so a 1/60 would be awesome to go with everything else out. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath for them. I believe it when I see it.
  11. I'll be in for it, but what does the buy-in cover? Just curious
  12. Those aren't the Lanzas. Valkyrie22 and Razorx on this site are not those people. I've seen those people on the youtube site at AX 2005. Pretty good cosplays.
  13. I'll have a 1/60 Fan racer, and a 1/5 Minmay in chinese dress for display. Can't wait to see all the cool stuff. Hope to see lots of new customs.
  14. Exo, I'll probably take one, and my wife will want one as well. Mine is Large, my wife's, probably small or medium, don't know the preference, but hopefully you'll have extras. Send me a pm regarding where you're getting them done. Still need to get pricing for tees. Thanks.
  15. I'm not sure about the chapters, but I stopped collecting them when the manga started coming out. I know for those, they're on book 4 with the release.
  16. I really like that Sheryl action figure, but damn,,, 16,600 yen??? I'm gonna try to get one, but there's so much stuff to get.
  17. Hmmm, no Akira??? Well, OK. I wasn't too optimistic about this in the first place, and I'd rather just keep the series show where it has been, and not a LAM. That just didn't seem right as a movie. I think Cowboy Bebop has a better chance, but may end up being too much like Serenity. Who knows about Robotech. I'm kinda in agreement that I'd like to see the 80s anime gone movie popularity die.
  18. Yeah, that really sucks. It was coming along so well. But, why did you take down your VA alliance account? Are you getting completely out of doing any fandub projects? That's a bummer man, I really liked your work as well. Hopefully you'll still be around these boards?
  19. I'm still trying to figure out how this thread got so far derailed from the prospect and chance of toys being made to arguments over the gun length. In anycase, while it's not the best Macross OVA, the mecha is definitely different, and unique compared to its counterparts. I've never had a problem with the large canon, the futuristic look of the Valkyrie. Should they make the VF-2SS, the 2JA, or even the Metal Siren, I'm in for any and all. But, that's just me, I like the odd mecha that isn't the most popular. I love the mecha from this series. Then again, I'd probably be first in line if Yamato made a 1/60 VA-3C
  20. Aside from the comic book character bodies, and the ridiculous uniform in Shadow Chronicles, the characters were somewhat decent. My issue with the female designs was the fact that Maia has a thick @$$, thick thighs and waist, but from there up, she's slim. She looks a little bottom heavy, like a girl that you can tell if she goes on an eating binge, she's gonna be the chunky one in a few years. Actually, Ariel kinda has the same problem, not as prominent, but the boob job she got, and the wannabe Marvel uniform was just stupid. For JANICE, if she wasn't an android or whatever, I'd say she was ready for child bearing too, and was about to balloon herself. I've seen plenty of anime characters that have curves, but it looks firm. Shadow Chronicles women don't look like that. Macross F had better character designs, even with the females. They all may not have the super curves (although, points to Nanase, Grace, and Klan), but they don't look overly designed and "comic book-like" Don't go telling Tommy Yune that though, he'll probably blame the Koreans again.
  21. I find it funny that some people resort to name calling when they don't have a logical argument for why they believe what they do, i.e. Robotech. Then, in posts here, he (Khyron Prime) appeals to the same people he bashes. I've met him before, and believe it or not, he's a nice guy, despite his tendencies for verbal trash throwing. On this site, I haven't met, or heard too many people talk negatively of the Robotech series as it was aired in 85. Aside from it's lack of ability to reestablish itself, and all the sad reinventions of itself, the original Robotech was alright. I find it sad that some Robotech fans have gotten so far involved into the politics, and the stupidity of "this vs. that", that they've forgotten that these are just cartoons. Talking about the dealings, and speculating is fine, and expressing opinions is fine, but that link with the nasty message is well over the top, and quite childish. Things like that give bad marks to Robotech fans. I'd feel the same if it was a Macross member.
  22. Damn, looks like you guys had a great time. Makes me all giddy for the upcoming MWcon in L.A. Awesome diplays and custom stuff. Congrats on a well organized and well ran con.
  23. This also helps in keeping Macross alive amongst the older and young fanbase. Just thought I'd send this here for a little lightening up for a bit.
  24. As I've been reading the last page, there are a few things that I found that seperated RTSC from Frontier. First off, let me just say that I'm not just a mecha anime watcher, or just a Macross fan. I have roughly 400 anime titles at home, and I've seen about 95% of them. That said, there are some things I've noticed that seperated the good vs. decent vs. bad anime titles. Most titles with a good and decent rating by me (and overall by numerous other fansites and whatnot), is the fact that that they either have a great story, or great characters (visual and character development), or great action sequence. A lot of anime has had one or two of those basis present, and may lack in the other. These shows have still turned out well. With Macross Frontier, it incorporates all aspects mentioned, to create a complete and intriguing anime to watch. So much so, that it's present in the selling product. There's product for sale of the characters that we buy, also in the mecha. It's success as a story being told is evident in the creation of OVAs. The music and the amount of CDs being sold and popularity prove that even that was given to great detail. In looking at RTSC, it's been generally panned in all those areas mentioned above. And not by just MWers. What RavenHawk explained previously is generally shared by many, many people, save the few people still on rt.com. Somehow, even some of them realize it's vast shortcomings. I'm not gonna say it was all bad, I thought the BGM for RTSC was quite well done. Unfortunately, I know HG will not be using Scott Glasgow again. Ford Riley did what he could with what he was given, and to say he did a bad job in writing is directed in the wrong area. If you were given free reign to write a story, then basically dictated what it had to be for about 90% of it, would you still consider yourself as having free reign in writing? The voice actors did a fine job, but with script, it seems like RTSC was garbage in/garbage out. Even the best VAs around can't save a dry, poorly written scripts. To answer your question chrisk, those are the differences I see in a broad sense. Robotech does need to be seperated from from it's beginnings. Like Macross Frontier did, they created new just about everything, and still had moderate throwbacks to the original, which catered to older fans, and made good references for new fans to check the originals.
  25. Agreed!!! I do like seeing uncommon things done, and this is one of the things that definitely stand out. Can't wait to see what you do later on.
