Hmmm, well congrats I guess for getting to go to a funeral Not something I particularly like going to, even if a bunch of performers will be there. NOTE: I wonder why Tommy didn't mention taking his wife, and getting a babysitter? I feel bad for her. The pics in the background seem to only be of RTSC and nothing new. Even if it was, they're just reusing the same 3D models from the first, maybe a couple new ones I'd guess, but still.

The Toynami 1/100 scale toys aren't too bad, actually. They are simple, have many removable and swappable parts, and aren't as bad as the MPCs. Either way, I find it kinda cheap that they would use a scheme so similar to Yamatos though. If they were gonna do a "stealth version" they should've made it a bit more different in color scheme. Just my thoughts

Basara??? Sheryl These are the only ones I was able to see. There was another Sheryl and a Ranka at Battle of the Bands, but was unable to get a pic. Hopefully someone else got those.

The Cyclone you refer to is made by Beagle, and simply repackaged by Toynami. With the limited number of these that are out, the fact that they sell out isn't that epic, almost expected. Toynami's numbers have always reflected well with the Macross license, not as strong with any other. A $25 toy repaint is probably quite profitable for them, as people like the price point, a new paint scheme, and the molds and research are already done for the toy, so no R&D needed.

One would think, but I think Kevin plans all these public appearances to keep his job. I mean, if he wasn't doing all this, he probably wouldn't be needed at HG, like he's really needed anyway. I think he's just someone who talks for them so that they don't have to deal w/ the fans. But you are right, I thought their site was for the most "up to date and current news"? Now, it's just a site with the same old posts from 5 years ago, complainers, and fanboys. The ones that don't fit into those 3 classes are there for friends only it seems, and that is far and few between times they're actually there. I'd have to say that I believe the silence on the site, and the representation at the cons with no real news is a bad sign for them. It's a facade to make people think that so much is really going on. Not to say that nothing is, but whatever is planned, be it large or small, seems quite a ways away, and mediocre at best as far as interest. Oh well, the news from AX 09 has come and gone, and basically is nothing more than what we already know. So, what's next?

Thanks, I actually came back here cause I just remembered her name. But I got the only one that the guy had. If you go today, go to the anime link booth, they have a good amount of Macross posters from Macross, Mac II, Mac 7, video games, and others in various combos. It's one helluva fun poster to look at. Just more to add to the collection.

I missed the train wreck of nothingness yesterday, but did get a recap of what was shown and said. Basically, there will be a Maia Beta made at some point with a "synchro cannon" attached. Probably the only thing I'd be half interested in. Also, some European video game company supposedly is gonna make a Shadow Chronicles game, not sure how valid that is or how sure that deal is. They still have Kasdan on their power point as one of the writers of RLAM, and some fans seem to have the idea that this means he's still working on it, although it's just laziness on Tommy's part for not editing the powerpoint enough, or perhaps they were intending to mislead unknowing fans, who knows. Lastly that was already announced, the Yamato, I mean, Toynami 1/100 Stealth valk. Why? I don't know why they're doing it. But it does prove that at least Toynami knows that Macross is where it's at, and always will be. As far as general talk about LAM, and the Shadow Rising,,,, (crickets) There was only the announcement of the new writer, the novelist, which means that they still aren't even close to starting on production. As for Shadow rising, I think they skipped talking about that, or skirted the question altogether. A whole presentation about nothing again.

I was looking through these posts, and realized that what I have has already been shown, but here they are. I really like the 2nd one...Apparently, this is Mikimoto's only rendition of "Dana" (yes, the Robotech name, but I can't think of her original name). That poster is just amazing. And minty clean. Got it for $35 at AX 2009

I just added some more to my collection. I will post those up tomorrow. One was pretty coo, and althought they're probably usuals, I was glad to get them.

OK, the girl doing the Battle of the bands show on thursday had a cute Sheryl cosplay on, and she was pretty cute, but did get a pic of her. There was a pic that a friend took of the Ranka cosplay that I'll hopefully get soon.
-
I will be at Anime Expo thursday and friday, and hopefully will find plenty of Macross cosplay to show when I can. I'll be taking lots of pics of all kinds of cosplay, but usually people don't cosplay as Macross characters too much. I'll be on the lookout.

They were, at one point, interested in having Tatsunoko do their Shadow Rising, meeting with the Mospeada creators and all. They ditched them when they were getting ideas of how much production and all that's associated with it would cost. Tatsunoko was a bit pricey (and probably rightly so), so HG decided to go with the Korean studio. I think HG was more interested in Tats doing it, then Tats being interested. I wonder if it would've turned out a slightly better movie aesthetically for RTSC. Still very skeptical on the movie. If the new writer is in fact, another person on board to tweak, or rewrite completely, the production is gonna get pushed back even further. I'm thinking if the movie does get done, it may be like a side story, not based off of any of the original characters, and will have different mecha, aliens will look different, and so on. If all that was too occur, would it still feel like Robotech/Macross?
-
That looks awesome. BTW, is the story all written out and done as well as the script, or is that still being hashed out? So far, this project has got some real promising aspects of it. How is the composer doing with the song? Any updates on that?

If that's what WB is looking for (a gritty BSG style version of Macross), it may be alright. I just hope they keep it in one direction. TF2 had , which if Robotech does, can easily backfire. I guess their predicament is, you gotta make this different from the outdated original, changing designs, probably characters, but not detach it so much that it doesn't seem the same. That's their big problem dealing with this franchise I see with the licensing and ownership debate that has plagued all this. I still think this writer is just another attempt at getting what they're looking for, or at least hoping that he can do something w/ what they got perhaps without paying so much to bigger name writers. I wonder what crap HG is gonna say at Anime Expo with the news of Miller and Gough (I think that's the names) bailing out. Last year, they gloated that it was they who got Kasdan to write, now he's gone. Where's the gloating now??? They just need to stop while they still have fans. They've already lost face, I wonder when they're gonna lose their ass?

I have 3 of the 1/72 model kits, and two sets of the decal sets that were sold seperately. they fit pretty well with the 1/60 version 1. I haven't tried to custom a v.2 at all, simply because of space and time at home, but perhaps someday.

Speaking of casts for the LAM, it'll be a hard cast I think. Using A-listers on it is probably not gonna happen, and if it did, the characters may seem a little forced. The best bet for them is to get young, new actors and good look alikes. I've always found it strange when actors that you recognize try to play something they aren't necessarily equipped for. Playing an anime character would be quite strange for a recognized actor. That's where the redeux of "Robotech" needs to come in. Then another problem arises,,,how much of it will actually feel like Robotech? If it's just gonna be some new jet design that transforms to fight some alien race, that's not really gonna say Robotech. I think it's just a bad idea for the movie, but if it's good, and WB could make it good, then even with an outdated and weak title like Robotech, I'd still watch it. I can't see Minmay being a Miley Cyrus at all. In fact, if that happens, I'll definitely skip the movie and just bittorrent it later on, as that would just be wrong in so many ways.

Working on tabbing a couple now. Hopefully will have them up in a few days. I also have some tabs that I found online that I can scan and put up. I'm tabbing out Light the Light by Firebomber, and I have a good tabbing of an alternative version of DYRL. Planet Dance can be found on the net, but I've been working on that to see if it can be improved. I also have Animetal's version of the original Macross song down, and Firebomber's Angel's Voice.

Are both of these the ISBN number, or are there two seperate items?

This new guy may not be the final writer. In many cases, they write out a variation of what they envision, and what the production company likes, they'll keep, and keep building until they have what they're looking for. This whole project is gonna take awhile, and while I do feel for the fans that want at least a little something, news of it being made, or tanking can take several years. Let's see, they've switched writers about 3 or 4 times, the director they originally had bailed out, and that's where it's all been stuck at...staff changes. Haha, yeah, there's a lot going on. I'm still hoping that if it does well, that WB decides to buy the franchise and do their own thing with it. WB would be smart to do that and then work out a deal for bringing Macross over. Not expected to happen, but here's to wishful thinking.

Seems like a decent idea, but I'd make my decision upon knowledge of the price. Don't wanna make a commitment and then realize I need a loan for them.

I don't think this guy is necessarily upstaging Kasdan and the rest...it seems like the pickings are getting slim more like. While these writers get paid good money to do their job, even for a draft, they probably got this guy cause other bigger names perhaps, don't have the time, or don't feel it's gonna enhance their resume. This news doesn't surprise me in the least. Last year for AX, HG had some stupid saying (when Kasdan was writing at the time), look who we got writing the story!!! He's known for (then they listed on a powerpoint the list of Kasdan's work). The truth was, HG didn't even do that, it was WB. So, now that bottomed out, they got Gough and Miller, and now they are done. Since we just don't know, they either found a writer they really do like, or they may not have great choices of who they want. Either way, this new news means absolutely nothing. Just more delay for them really, cause now they gotta wait and see if this guy can produce, and then, hope that it all pans out to make it.

From what they've shown from their previous track record(s), they seem to have a tendency to either be a day late, a buck short, or simply way behind on getting the 8-ball. With Robotech 3000, they tried to release it and appeal to the fans when that ultra cheesy CG rendering was on its way out, and was already old and over-done. When it comes to releasing things at wrong times, they missed the boat on selling their Shadow Chronicles for the Christmas season simply to get it in a store that probably didn't change too much. The LAM seems to be trying to ride off of the 80s cartoon craze of TF, but with TF coming this Wednesday, and absolutely no news of Robotech on the silver screen, it's all sketchy projections right now. And it's very much agreed that the no news is good news doesn't work. There's also the saying, out of sight, out of mind. We talk about it here, but with such a small group, and not necessarily a positive outlook on it, it looks like the only "buzz" is rt.com, and they're losing steam, plain and simple.

Very true, perhaps instead of spending time to cover up their lack of progress, and making general blanket statements full of holes, they should use that time to actually do something worth talking about. It has become apparent that their so used to trying to put out fires, that they have sacrificed actual building. It could be that Tommy and co. have grown a sense of fear that what they are trying to do will be ever so harshly criticized as Shadow Chronicles, thus the reason why they have absolutely nothing for Shadow Rising. Could also be that they're just trying so hard to "wow" everyone, that they stuck themselves in a writer's block. Could be that WB really doesn't want a possible LAM tainted by more crap, who knows. What is certain, is that as people on the "outside" of this matter, can only go by what is in front of us. In my profession, I have to deal with what is given to me, and call it as it is shown, not just by what is said. From that, I process that info and need to make quick, sound judgements on how to interpret it. The final outcome needs to reflect what is given, what is processed, and what is going to ensure that all parties involved are safe (that no harm is done to anyone, or lives lost). While it's a far stretch to some, the "No information" on behalf of HG and it's ever so wannabe wise staff think this means a lot to people, that somehow we are to interpret that as them working hard.... um no. I see it as they have no information because nothing has transpired since the last tidbit that occurred maybe a year or so ago. The facts they bring are that they divert the attention of Shadow rising and the LAM to other things, and their statement of we're doing a lot and hard at work but we don't have anything to tell is B.S. Excuse the language, but you can't bullshit the bullshitter (for those that don't know, a term meaning you can't fool someone who knows your game). I'm sure if they all-of-a sudden had some new info, they'd try to point the finger at us "naysayers" as they call us, but it has nothing to do with that. I like to deal in facts, and right now, I can't take anything they say as such. Show me something, and I'll believe you're still alive over there. Sad thing is, that won't mean that still won't mean they have a good product. That's an entirely different mess I don't think the current staff has the skills to overcome and make.

I love reading that stuff for comedy sake. WOM??? The only people that really bought into their crap is their fanbase. The WOM didn't do a damn thing, nor is the website record breaking. At this point, it's more of a "whatever you say, Bill!" If there's a good group of fans that want to believe the hype, ignorance is bliss for them. I'm in bliss over knowing truth. As for the action in that rt.com thread, there is action going on w/ the LAM, they're waiting. Waiting is action in and of itself. The movie is on hiatus (I know Kevin hates his own words, but he needs a dictionary).

Those are good, but lineart is better. At least that way, I can stare at a pic and replicate it. DVD is a little tricky trying to find good segments of the movie, angles, light, detail, etc.
