OK, I don't speak, nor can I read Japanese, but how feasible is it to get one of these games, and how much does it cost? If I'm not gonna get a damn SDF-1 for $2300, perhaps a Pachinko game will fill the gap.

Time to make my own, hahaha!!!

I wore one of my MWcon shirts the other day (Tuesday) and some guy out of nowhere says to me "Dude, that's gotta be from Macross. That shirt is awesome!" I turned around in shock, and said, oh yes, you watched it? Turns out he spent a lot of time in the 80s in Japan, and new all about Macross and was a fan. Interesting, the people who come out of the wood work just walking around with a shirt.

I'm gonna check w/ Overdrive and see when they are shipping. I know the last email update said late October, and well, it's late October, so, hopefully I'll have some info.

Hmmm, my guilty pleasure has to be 80s music. Pop, hair band, etc. Ahhh, long are the days of excessiveness, standing out, and Aqua Net. LMAO.

Just waiting for shipping at this point, but technically, yes.

You know, I paid a GOOD amount of dough for the 1/5 scale Minmay, and likewise, just bought all 3 1/1 scale helmets. I'm not too concerned with buying the extremely niche items at insane prices. However, at $2300 for a kit is just stupidity. Even though I do have the funds to put into getting this, and comfortably at this point, I'd have to say, what's the point? There is that certain geeky cool factor where someone would be able to say, "Haha, look at me, I paid $X.xx for this item, and only 2 people and I in the world have it!!!" But, still, no matter how durable the poly-whatever resin it is, it's still a kit, and no matter how much anyone tries to convince me that it's that great of an accomplishment to buy, at that bang for the buck, I'd have to say that it's just more painful to see someone buy it than the cool factor. IMO, consider line drawn here.

Yeah, that seems to be Steve alright. There is a saying, "See a person, and you can see their house." Steve's over overly soft, easily offendable attitude, and lack of care has spilled into his "virtual house" i.e. rt.com. I say, likewise in that saying, if you don't know the people who are trying to run the franchise, look at the website, and that'll give you an idea as well.

Banhammer falls once again. Usually if Steve or anyone of the staff ban, they usually send some notification, unless they are now under the control of mods and just ban without any word. Well, if anything, we've never needed to make ammunition, they hand us theirs.Wonder if they'll ever get the hint, although I doubt it. I've lurked on their site recently, and it's about as dry as the Sahara.

Wow, that seems like a lot of work, but great job so far. Can't wait to see more pics.

Gubaba, LMAO!!! Just wow. Especially at this one. Hahaha, I wouldn't say he's as stupid as a "logical macross fan", that'd be giving him too much credit. Since a few of his messages have been posted over here and he seems to use the term "son of a hoe" quite a bit, I wonder if he has some skeletons in the closet he doesn't want let out. Who knows, he may hate Macross fans because his daddy who left him and his mommy was a Macross fan. Who knows, she may have been "around" quite a few Macross fans. Seto, Gubaba, you aren't this kid's father, are you?

$30 for another fan racer isn't too bad, esp. if it comes with a figure. But, I think my VF-1D Hikaru is just fine for this...and he's already painted.

Agreed. Macross does give that feeling that the universe is BIG, not just physically, but as far as the stretch of what humanity has done. Although Macross 7 has its haters, there's one thing I liked about it. It made you realize that the story being told was only the Macross 7. When you see what happens to the Macross 5, and how the Protodevlin get their mecha, you realize that humanity is really reaching out to the universe, and bad things do happen. Technology amongst different fleets isn't all the same (i.e. Mac F VF-25 and VF-27 from Frontier and Galaxy fleets respectively). This setup as far as being able to tell a new story without having to be so far anchored in the previous series makes Macross exciting, and gives it a broader picture than Robotech did. Of course this is my opinion, and I'm used to Japanese sytle storytelling a bit more. I mean, after a collection of about 800 DVDs and countless downloads of anime series, the styles and various aspects of it grow on you. Robotech was fresh when it first aired. While it was "Westernized" and whatnot, it still kept a lot of it's Japanese roots. In reading the McKinney novels, I found that the story there was much more developed, and many things explained. I loved that part of it, but in turn, while it was/is great reading, it takes a lot of the "anime" feel out of it. I also have to agree that as the novels went on, they did lose touch with many of the characters, who became forced into their roles, and mere cardboard cutouts. Nevertheless, I still think McKinney as the writing group raised the bar for Robotech productions that just couldn't be met in the "anime" productions they've tried. Even with a full production release of Shadow Chronicles, you can tell where it wants to be, just executed ever so horribly. It's why you'll never see me knock the novels (except for EOTC), or the original aired Robotech. Those were what made me a fan of the series and I can understand why people still like it today. As for the stuff after that, it's all just imitation, and not duplication. I think that's what they were trying to achieve with every production, they've just failed miserably everytime.

It's not a big secret. HG does make a large portion of their money in real estate. They also do something in buying and selling films, although, I'm not exactly sure what that consists of. I don't think you need to be an economist to know that.

Anyone got a more specific link to the podcast, or was it not related to the discussion here?
-
While that wasn't a personal attack Seto, they'd take it as that if they had banning you in mind. Just like how they took my criticism of the RTSC poster as a personal attack, and used that against me. Great time to be a Robotech fan!!!

Have you guys heard the latest podcast on www.protoculturetimes.com ??? It's a shame that true fans of the franchise have to call out their own fan circle to puts things right. I find it very sad that Robotech fans can't enjoy the difference in opinion of legal interpretation without getting banned, or without being unjustly labled. I hope the true fans who simply like what they grew up with can just get along, and stop with the self-induced paranoia. It's one thing to try to incite a war with the Macross fans, something they have done very poorly with, but to start fighting amongst themselves is a tragedy. Something I haven't seen to that degree until now. JT put it in very good perspective on his podcast as how a true Robotech fan feels. Very good show, even if not a full podcast.

Are you serious??? First off, it's pretty obvious you're dealing with a moron. I think his spelling and grade level of writing is about the degree of second grade, at best. "And that family insult was a example of you and it has to be true that your parents are apefaces, otherwise why are you an apeface? And you an apeface because you cannot prove your case to Memo and fans either so you go in circles with rants and say "no macross in future Robotech".obsurd you are" WTF??? Then he says he's not a Macross fan because he can't lower himself to stupid insults??? Um, what was the first and second message all about again??? Memo, if you are reading on here, you might want to tell your buddy that he's making RT fans look really bad. Not that I expect anything to be done with uneducated saps like PTH, but I think he just degraded and invalidated himself. A walking, talking contradiction with no identity, so he blindly follows others. Perhaps I should feel sorry for him. There maybe special schools or a specialist he can see to fix that little problem. It's a good thing I know good, well to do people who like Robotech, otherwise, I'd think they were all like this guy.
-
Is it going to be a Robotech RPG??? I sincerely hope not, cause it's that kind of hacking off of Macross that really perpetuates the anger some Macross fans feel. If it's something on your own, all I can say is, you picked a good design.

Man, I'd love to get one of those, what looks like a concert program. Anyone have extras???
-
If you do start on this, I suggest starting with the Ghost x-9 in 1/60 scale. That seems to be a topic of interest lateley, and by what I've researched, doing this method would look better than the 1/72 model kit that came out several years ago.

While OT, I will say that I love the VA-3 Invader. The retro look is just awesome.
-
Not too bad at all. I can't wait to see it all painted up. It's kinda hard to get a feel on what it'll look like painted, but it'll be interesting to see.

I didn't mind him being on here at all, so long as questions he asked were not beaten to death. Then, when he started making assumptions about this site and the people posting here, it got a little annoying. However, at least you were able to brush him up on a few things, Gubaba.

I think your friend should read these threads before trying to interject here. This site has never been in the practice of trying to "win converts". Macrossworld has, and has been a site dedicated to Macross. The reason most of us are here is for Macross alone. We don't need "allies" in some craptastic fan perceived war. If you did read through the thread, I think you'd see moreso that most of the jabs that people take here in regards to RT is based on current productions, merchandise, and business practices. I don't know what you were expecting on this site, in particular, this thread, but coming in here, attempting to correct people that have been on this site for a tenured time is really annoying. Especially in light of the fact that you've only been on this site, what, a day? While I do believe we should all be respectful of one another, yours and your buddy's preconceived ideas of this site without any thorough research is not a way to win any argument you have.
