If I get this suit done in time, and my band isn't playing that day, or even if, I may have to bring in the thing. Just hoping the end product comes out good. Still have my helmets stuck in customs.

When I was there, they had the Sheryl Nome artbook, the new False Diva Guidebook, Newtype featuring Macross F:False Diva and a vocal CD of the characters, an Macross the First (which I had to ask about). If you go back, go to the counter and ask them there. When I emailed them, they said they had it in stock. That's where I ordered my 3 copies of Macross Ace 3.

I wasn't considering mass producing them at all, but maybe it'll work for a small number of people. As for the Ipod thing, it's just an idea thrown out there, and it would be hidden inside the life support system. The red light indicator will also light up as well. Anyways, it's not just gonna be the chest piece, but the arms pieces, belt (if there is one) and the leg pieces. I think I have enough lineart to start making it once I get the material to make it. BTW, my helmets are freaking stuck in customs cause they all got sent at the same time.

Went to Kinokuniya today and picked up 2 copies of Macross the First Manga Vol.1 Have a couple issues of vol. 3 of Mac Ace on order from Kinokuniya as well. Man, I've spent a lot of money on books there, lately.

I saw the Astro Boy film, and it's actually quite good. I think the problem is that the average person with kids has all sorts of bigger movie titles to take them to. When I was in the theater, I heard one lady asking a friend if the movie was a pixar one, when the other lady said no, she didn't seem interested all-of-a sudden. Her kids seemed to have loved it though. I wonder if that is a general consensus. Either way, while I did like the story and was happy to watch it, the fact is, it still kinda failed. I wonder if that will have more bearing on a LAM getting made. Probably not, cause they're probably still line sighted on the success of Bayformers2, and are gonna try to follow that formula. I think either way, the movie seems damned if they follow that formula by the fans, damned if they don't possibly by sales. Still such a long way off from being made.

It's a hard choice, cause I'd like one, and for option 2, I'd have to say that or something else, not this or anything but... After seeing the Pachinko animation, a redone SDF: Macross would be off the charts, but at the same time, my mind likes seeing the new, and the pushing of boundaries that Macross does.

No, I'm designing it w/ the help of a mechanical engineer. I'm more of a semi electrical engineer, so we're gonna work on it for a personal project. Nice Roy helmet. I have all 3 arriving on Friday, so I have my office all cleaned up to put them in.

If I remember clearly (which is quite funny), is that Kevin kept up this idea that Robotech was gonna be produced slowly so that they can make a quality movie (as if HG is actually working on a WB movie). In his "genius" reasoning, God forbid that they would rush it, and it'd turn out like Transformers 2. I think this is where Maverick took that and interpreted it as meaning that TF2 was rushed due to Robotech. To Kevin's poor credit, he doesn't take into account that the TF2 movie can safely be assumed to not have been made for a super deep story, but to make money. And make money it did. While I wouldn't exonerate Maverick LSC for his asinine posts, somehow, it makes a lot of sense when HG's self proclaimed PR, marketing, or whatever he is now, McKeever makes stupid comparisons of a Robotech movie that doesn't even have a green light to TF2.

Weren't the rt fans getting banned for fan speculation??? This is by far, one of the more retarded posts from a mod I've read in awhile. First off, what would make him think that Paramount is scared of Robotech? The trend of robot movies has been good to Paramount, but WB banking on a series that is not as well known is questionalble at best. I'd be willing to bet the farm that Paramount's decisions to produce Transformers at the rate they are has nothing to do with Robotech. I find it laughable that these RT elitists believe that Robotech has that much power, and that it influences the movie industry that much. C'mon, get a clue guys.

What I'm going off of is the fact that when I watch anime titles (and I watch a lot), the english terms and slang is so far different from what the Japanese intended. I understand why, but many times, the intent gets lost. Now, add that to Macross and it's specific situation. What if they worked out a deal to bring over their DVDs and shows? I know it sounds great, and it does to some point, but how much would BW/SN have to bend to what the western fanbase would expect, and what distributors over here would want? While it's possible that it could be no difference, there could've been a big difference. I do like the movement by a few distributors who believe in keeping the titles as close to original as possible. I think that is a trend that was brought on by anime watchers over the years, and the backlash certain shows started to get for butchering the originals to death. It's one of the ideas that makes HG unique in its view. They still use someone else's work to make something that it wasn't intended as, then call it their own. While this was acceptable 20 years ago, the trend has proven it isn't now. Anywho, that's not the company I'd want bringing over Macross in any form.

Simply put, WOW!!! Very nice artwork. BTW, welcome to the boards here. you've made me an instant fan of your art. Thanks for posting it up. Hope you do more and put it up here as well.

Yeah, that's a very fair assessment. However, if that were to ever happen, I wonder how much western influence would affect Macross future installments? Right now, while we do complain about blockades and whatnot, how different, if at all, do you think Macross would've been if it was strongly linked to the west? I think the double edged sword of having Macross exclusive for Japan, is that it isn't influenced by the west, and keeps it where we like it. The bad side, obviously, is that DVDs are coded differently (work around), no subs (is usually worked around and can be done by the R.2 distributor), and the prices of merchandise and the media is more expensive (yeah, we have to save a bit more).

In the works already. Hopefully will be done by march. I just put in inquiries regarding yellow led in the shape of the shoulder pads, and possibly setting up the chest piece as ipod doc and other things. We shall see...

But wait, I thought it was one of the best anime features of all time??? Didn't Kevin and a bunch of critics say that? Certainly if they say it, it must be true. When I look at that list, it appears that Robotech is really fighting amongst itself. When that happens, it looks like the market has a flood of the same stuff. As for the first 85 episodes of Robotech, I can understand that selling decently. I mean, it is the entire series in one set. I can understand that doing relatively well on that short list. Seeing a "new" release only in the #27,648 range at best is maybe moderate at best.

The staff are always gonna want to put up a facade that the franchise is booming, that their product is selling so well, on and on. That's PR. I never understood why those guys on the thread on rt.com even asked Kevin. That's like asking a clown to explain all of astrophysics. BTW, did you see Kevin's answer on the thread? I guess he thought it funny to try to invalidate the questions by making stupid answers. I had figures of the sales from someone at Funimation, but that was a little over a year ago. Can't find them on this computer, but from what it seemed, sales were OK. They weren't the blistering hot item that HG made it into, but it did well enough to make some money. That was also the rep's take on the figures. Actually, I think his quote was more like, "It did better than expected, but the way anime has been going the past several months, that's not saying much." My interpretation of that was that Funimation didn't know what to expect, but it did well enough. Fast forward a little bit in the future. Funimation then decided that they wanted to work w/ HG on part 2 by putting in a generous amount, somewhere in the range of $500,000 possibly more. There stipulations to that funding was that they have some creative part in it, that the studio be a Japanese studio, and whatever else. Those were the big 2 that I remember. HG turned it down, and I think Funimation backed out of any funding. Truth be told, I don't even know if they would be the distributor for part 2. They had the merchandising license, and you can see how far that went. I've been speculating with a couple friends, and we've been thinking that the reason you won't see Shadow Rising anytime soon, is that WB may want to get involved with that. whether it's released before or after the LAM is anyone's guess, but right before the 2nd Batman Dark Knight movie hit the theater, there was that anime style set of shorts of Batman that came out. I wonder if WB is gonna want the same thing possibly. Remember, this was also done for the Matrix, too. My guess, is that they'll want to do it if the first movie does well only. I'm sure they don't want HG f!@#ing up their work by doing Shadow Rising. If that's the case, HG is gonna be stringing their fans along for a lonnnnnnng, long time. How would they get around that?

If you wanna check that link on rt.com, it's under teh production forum, and the title was "Hey Kevin, what was the budget".

LOL, we know your real pleasure in life. If that's how it makes you feel, but you continue to buy stuff, or have bought more than one item from them, that's on you. As for me, I have no problem turning down something that isn't priced right. SDF-1 for $2300 is a definite out for me with no remorse or withdrawl.

In regards to this thread on rt.com, it seems someone is being disruptive, better ban him. And how predictable was our thought on what would happen? It's unfolding like yesterday's news.
-
In regards to you guys not getting word on your helmets, a recent newsletter via email said that if you didn't get a notification, to send them notification. I was a little worried myself, but they have them, and that should be a great sign.

Now waiting for 3 1/1 scale helmets from OD. Yeah, baby!!!

Easy, they'll have one of the mods say that they can't answer that, and ban that person. I think it's funny to think that Kevin would actually answer a question straight up with the truth told. I don't think that's ever been done yet. It's like when RTSC was stalling with distribution, and someone asked what the real deal was with it...Kevin's statement was more or less "I'm gonna give you 'bankofkev's no spin' explanation..." Which was then followed by more spin than a piece of rotisserie on a skewer. I doubt the staff will answer this one. If they do and it's straight to the point, I'd be very surprised, not like it's a big deal though. Last statement re: my OT question, got it to work finally.

It was a character that my wife created for a comic a member here was working on, but as time passed, kinda fizzled out. My wife did the character faces, and the coloring doesn't do the pic justice, but I was bored, and was a noob at photoshop when I first colored it. Anyways, until I can figure it out, I'm gonna keep the t-shirt design as my avatar. On subject, I like the fact that anime is kinda going back to where it was a number of years ago. While there are a couple new titles that I am currently watching and interested in, most of the DVDs I get are older titles. Robotech has the distinct position that it's flooded itself in the market, and as far as the spanish dub, it's unfortunate that it took them this long to do it. I'm sure by now, most, if not, all Robotech fans who watch it in Spanish, have old versions of it from T.V., or from burned copies from a friend of a friend. I kinda thought it funny when I read the article that it basically says for the RT fans to not let others borrow their DVD or VHS tapes, so that they can sell the DVDs when done. Kinda a strange attempt at not getting the series to fans till the redub in espanol is done. Just thought it strange.

Yeah, that VAT tax sucks. When I was in Greece and Venice, it was annoying having to pay extra for nothing, which basically is what it is. Politics aside, they had a pretty cool anime store in Venice, Italy. I was actually quite shocked to see it. Kinda made me feel like there were more kindred peeps around. Anyways, rt.com has some big article on the issues with getting the original Robotech that was redone in spanish, and the issues with pirating. I say, one of those guys down there buy the set when it's released, then make copies and set up shop (j/k). OK, OT here, but I didn't want to look for the right thread, call it laziness. But, why is my new avatar not working??? It's jpg file, under the size limit, it just comes up as a lame box, as you can see. Any ideas why would help. Thanks guys.

That must be what they call a Veritech.

Well, there's a lot to what was said in that 2nd paragraph. There's a lot more to the various issues, but the fact is, the end results are still there. Whatever isn't verifiable truth (which strangely, isn't a whole lot) is definitely high probable speculation to be true. In anycase, I don't know how PTH started to talk about those issues between Kevin and Memo and all, but if I were Memo, I'd be quite pissed to hear one of my lap dogs bringing up my business. Then again, the price of leadership is eternal vigilance... wait, i misquoted that Robotech line. Damnit!!! LOL
