Now waiting for 3 1/1 scale helmets from OD. Yeah, baby!!!

Easy, they'll have one of the mods say that they can't answer that, and ban that person. I think it's funny to think that Kevin would actually answer a question straight up with the truth told. I don't think that's ever been done yet. It's like when RTSC was stalling with distribution, and someone asked what the real deal was with it...Kevin's statement was more or less "I'm gonna give you 'bankofkev's no spin' explanation..." Which was then followed by more spin than a piece of rotisserie on a skewer. I doubt the staff will answer this one. If they do and it's straight to the point, I'd be very surprised, not like it's a big deal though. Last statement re: my OT question, got it to work finally.

It was a character that my wife created for a comic a member here was working on, but as time passed, kinda fizzled out. My wife did the character faces, and the coloring doesn't do the pic justice, but I was bored, and was a noob at photoshop when I first colored it. Anyways, until I can figure it out, I'm gonna keep the t-shirt design as my avatar. On subject, I like the fact that anime is kinda going back to where it was a number of years ago. While there are a couple new titles that I am currently watching and interested in, most of the DVDs I get are older titles. Robotech has the distinct position that it's flooded itself in the market, and as far as the spanish dub, it's unfortunate that it took them this long to do it. I'm sure by now, most, if not, all Robotech fans who watch it in Spanish, have old versions of it from T.V., or from burned copies from a friend of a friend. I kinda thought it funny when I read the article that it basically says for the RT fans to not let others borrow their DVD or VHS tapes, so that they can sell the DVDs when done. Kinda a strange attempt at not getting the series to fans till the redub in espanol is done. Just thought it strange.

Yeah, that VAT tax sucks. When I was in Greece and Venice, it was annoying having to pay extra for nothing, which basically is what it is. Politics aside, they had a pretty cool anime store in Venice, Italy. I was actually quite shocked to see it. Kinda made me feel like there were more kindred peeps around. Anyways, rt.com has some big article on the issues with getting the original Robotech that was redone in spanish, and the issues with pirating. I say, one of those guys down there buy the set when it's released, then make copies and set up shop (j/k). OK, OT here, but I didn't want to look for the right thread, call it laziness. But, why is my new avatar not working??? It's jpg file, under the size limit, it just comes up as a lame box, as you can see. Any ideas why would help. Thanks guys.

That must be what they call a Veritech.

Well, there's a lot to what was said in that 2nd paragraph. There's a lot more to the various issues, but the fact is, the end results are still there. Whatever isn't verifiable truth (which strangely, isn't a whole lot) is definitely high probable speculation to be true. In anycase, I don't know how PTH started to talk about those issues between Kevin and Memo and all, but if I were Memo, I'd be quite pissed to hear one of my lap dogs bringing up my business. Then again, the price of leadership is eternal vigilance... wait, i misquoted that Robotech line. Damnit!!! LOL

So many things to point out here, so I'll take em one by one. First paragraph simply seems what most RT elitist want to believe. Hell, if I read something that bad about a future Macross story, I'd be in a sense of disbelief myself. Nevertheless, it seems that PTH talks a lot to Memo, and it must be Memo who gave him that idea of some sort of conspiracy theory. Tom Bateman is a friend of mine, and I know for a fact that he could careless about what happens to the future of Robotech. Tom has much bigger plans than to orchestrate some feable attempt at undermining Shadow Rising by putting out Tommy's idea for it. It's the people who know much that know the truth, and Memo may just be trying to steer people clear of valid leaked info. For paragraph 2, I'm not going to dive into the gossip section here, but over 90% of that isn't conspiracy, it's fact. Nuff said For paragraph 3, is it any surprise that RT fans get this caught up? Here's a guy who doesn't know fact from fiction, and is only going off hearsay from just a couple people he really doesn't even know. It becomes a real problem when people throw in fiction with their everyday life, and now, it seems, he is being absorbed into a sea of paranoia. Perhaps, instead of white lines on a small mirror, he should be lighting up the spliff and chill. Oh, and Happy Penguins, PTH just seems to be jealous cause he's deprived. What's the saying...Once you go Macross, you never go back???

Got my last invoices from OD, and should be shipping monday, I'm assuming, and should receive on thursday, hopefully.
-
K guys, just got an update for those of you who ordered from Overdrive. Apparently, they had a little trouble with the shipment from the factory, but have the items in now. Supposedly, I will get shipping cost tomorrow, and should have the items hopefully by monday or tuesday. Hope you guys got your notices as well.
-
Yeah, OD is taking a little too long in responding to my emails too. They are usually pretty quick at responding. I hate having to wait like this with no answer at all. At very worst, my payment is paypal backed.

What I heard, and I don't know if this is true anymore, but many of the VAs that work for ADV are not with SAG, thus the reason they are based in Texas. In order to save money, ADV used non SAG VAs, unlike HG's position, which is in Hollywood, and would be bound to SAG rules. What ADV does in regards to VAs isn't a bad thing per se, it's just a way of getting a company starting out, a way to get the job done w/o the high price. The drawback, of course, is the fact that actors who have put in a lot of work and time, get shafted in work, and at the rate ADV was putting out anime, it started to become a factory of a lot of mediocrity. Some of the VAs with SAG that I talked to were always pretty ticked at the Texas based companies. Again, that was awhile ago, and since, they could've made arrangements to pay certain VAs their dues for being SAG. I don't know. However, that doesn't turn back the clock for such a horrible dub of SDF Macross from ADV. Nevertheless, at least it's available.

Not all the decals needing white will be on the white plastic. Especially if it gets printed on leg armor.
-
I started scanning and sizing up the 1/72 decal sheets, and the proportions aren't too bad at all. They actually work quite well. I'm still gonna try to enlarge maybe 5% and see if that has any positive/negative effect on the decals. I've been printing these out, and then cutting out the decal and fitting it, and so far, it's OK, not perfect, but workable

Somehow, I get the idea that some wannabi VA had the idea of "stylizing" the name Macross, so that it'd be "cool". Then, like ducks following the mother, they all fell in line and thought that, that was how it was pronounced. SURPRISE!!!, You all sound uneducated for not even knowing english phoenetics too well. Somehow though, I can't blame the VAs, more like the ADR did a bad job on not doing his/her homework, and thinking it'd go through just fine. I bought my ADV set simply to keep my Animeigos in pristine condition, and I got the ADV set from the bargain bin of a Video game store for like $6 each.

It's not that bad if you're used to the CMs line, but for me, coming from the MH and Beagles first, it's a frustrating mess. I didn't even bother tranforming it just cause of fear of breaking it. But, that's just me.
-
I recently got the CMs Fuke (well about 2 months ago), but just opened it up yesterday. I was pretty disappointed in the quality of the toy myself. It's very flimsy, and seems so fragile. I would get the Shinobu, but at nearly $70, there's simply no way. Kinda bummed about not seeing a Beagle especially, but the MH version as well. Simply just not enough Mospeada fans out there, or some very stingy ones. I know the ones on MW tend to buy stuff when they can.

Tochiro, thanks for the info. I'll be waiting for about that time, and I am aware that shipping is gonna be expensive. Hopefully the formes won't be overly tough to get through. Maybe the fact that I work in law enforcement will help push it through.

Yeah, it does seem the only choice. My wife works for a graphics design firm, so I'm gonna scan one of the Minmay Guard decals, and see how much enlarging they'll need, ans see if it's possible to get them printed on decal paper with a printer that does white printing. If I can get it done, I'll take some orders, but I'm not a decal expert, so however the coating and all goes to make them, you'll probably have to do those on your own.
-
I preordered 2 of them. And, from what I remember, the Minmay guard 1/72 scale decals fit really well on the 1/60 v. 1 Valks, can't vouch for the v.2. However, I have 3 or 4 sets of those decals left, and two kits of the Hase Minmay guard, so I'm gonna look around if these aren't done and available, and see how feasible it is to use those decals, or mod them, and have someone print them. Man, where is Anasazi when you need the best decals? I'll be doing both Minmay guard customes, as they are both in white, and will require minimum painting. PLEASE YAMATO, MAKE TONS OF DECALS AVAILABLE FOR ORDER EVERYWHERE, PLLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE!!!

I actually liked the OST for Robotech. While I like Macross OST much better, the Robotech soundtrack isn't bad at all. Some of the synths music can get a little annoying, but the fact that the songs are so short, it doesn't kill. The orchestra music is pretty good, and there are a few tracks that I find perfect for themes of the Zentraedi, Invid (Inbit), etc. While the Minmay songs are grating, the Michael Bradley songs are good, and fit the era just perfectly.

Wow, that clip is awesome. Still interested in getting one of these.

I watched Robotech (obviously) and SDF Macross ADV dub, and I liked the Robotech voices much better. It's not that I'm used to them, cause I'm used to the Macross voices. But, ADV's VAs for Macross seemed too over the top, and way too emotional. The voices for Robotech had a style that was more condusive to the Macross story IMHO. SDF Macross' characters had a more calm, but emotional type of draw as well, at least moreso than ADV version.

I'm probably late to the party, but did anybody notice that Toynami is releasing the Dark Mospeada sometime next week??? Since there's obviously no Beagle love anymore, Megahouse should help us out and give us the Fuke and Shinobu.
-
Hmmm, that would be some cool cosplay...Bon-chucka bon bon!!!

Doesn't really matter if it's all deleted or not. My temp ban of one month was back in August or September of 07, and it's still there. I think they're waiting for me to grovel and say sorry for something. In any case, I wasn't losing anything getting my ban, and all it did was give me a chance to help take away a good amount of people from their clutches and talk about the grit of what is there. I'd like to see them give me back my posting privvies. I don't think I remember my password.
