I've only seen bits and pieces of the work so far, so it maybe interesting to see. Wasn't big on Edgar or the old guy, but I'll reserve my thoughts till the final product. Will it be available for download? and, will all 5 be done, or is this just the one episode and that's it?

The link for the patches for 8, then 10-16 are above. I've been putting the series on DVD, and they are coming out perfectly, just tested DVD 10, and it looks great, and the dialogue makes sense. I'm probably gonna buy some high quality blanks, and have the covers professionally done. I'd like to package this up nice, like as if I bought it. To everybody who helped put these together, thank you.

I have a feeling that if WB was going to simply sit on RT LAM, they would'nt have hired 4 writers already to try to get this thing going. I still don't have the confidence to say that it's going to get made, but I don't think WB is simply gonna sit on this, at least not at this point. If later on, it turns out that budget conflicts and other issues become too big, that can all change. On the "fan person" bringing this to WB, wasn't it Tobey's production company that first showed interest in this? Supposedly, Tobey is a big fan, so there you go. I personally can careless about the movie getting made or not. Either way, I think the fans that actually know of Robotech and are part of the website, are probably gonna feel alienated, as it probably won't resemble anything they're familiar with. On the flip side to that, if it comes out, and does well enough to put out product, all that new product will replace the old Macross related stuff. If new fans come in, which let's face it, there probably would be, they'll only be familiar with the new designs. Any Macross designs will be "copies of the original Robotech" for them. That may make Macross a franchise that they may have to stay away from. Doubt it would play out like that, but it'd be nice.

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
Jasonc replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Every interview that I read with the creators, they seemed to have the series so thought out and planned. What I think Evangelion is, is a series that has so much concept planned for it, that it wasn't able to have all of it put into it. The outcome was some sort of abstract interpretation of what they saw, where to the creators and director, it probably makes all sense, and to us, it makes little sense. Evangelion makes a lot of sense to me, but that took watching it through 3 times and seeing it through a very abstract P.O.V. Each time I watched it, it gave me new points of view, and things I didn't see before, became clear as day the other times. While that shouldn't be the norm for anime, Evangelion was more like a painting to me, and paintings are meant to be viewed more than once. Maybe a stupid analogy and all, but that's how I viewed it, and it helped me to understand it. On the topic at hand, I just got done watching Shakugan no Shana, and am currently watching Blood Plus, and of all things, Metal Armor Dragonar, which is very good. I've been trying to watch the DVDs I haven't seen yet, out of a collection of roughly 500 DVDs, so I have a lot of catching up to do. -
He made that kit about 2-3 years ago. I don't know if he's still on this site, but you can look him up and send a message. Don't know if he has any left either.
-
That kit was one of Ryuji's I believe. I have it myself, and it's a very cool figure. If you are referring to any decal's of it, Hasegawa came out with a MG kit a couple years ago. Haven't seen them in awhile, but they may be available on evilbay.

Hmmm, all the talk of smokescreens is making it quite hard to navigate, hahaha. Kevin's job has been to set up conventions that tell of no new big news, only create those smokescreens to keep people diverted from the hard facts. In going back to the year before Shadow Chronicles came out, Kevin had this big explanation of why they didn't have a distributor. The quote was more or less... "We want to seperate the wheat from the chaff, and the distributor we want is going to get Robotech to you." Basically, he then stated that it was all the distributor's fault because they wanted to shelf RTSC for a certain period of time, then possibly release it. That may have been all fine and dandy, but what he didn't tell you is the Alan Letz was trying so hard to work out a deal with the big distributor (forgot the name) with alterior motives. Alan worked off commission, so landing the huge distributor would've landed him big bucks, a position that creates a conflict of interests of sorts. Anyways, they simply forget to mention the part that they (HG) screwed up. Kinda goes back to when Tommy threw the Waltrip's under the bus for the PTTSC comic flopping, or horny young Korean animators for the large boobs. Kinda like Mattel for Sentinels failing, and low budget on that crap they call Shadow Chronicles. Now, I'm not gonna say that it's all invalid, and that none of the other parties are at fault, but the focus is centered so much on the outside parties that HG should have a damn halo around their heads. Then, if you think about it, if it is the other parties' fault so much, perhaps HG shouldn't be in business, because they seem to pick the wrong company everytime to work with. Maybe they should just stick to the real bread and butter of real estate and foreign films, and get out of the wannabe "space opera" industry. And on the LAM news, you gotta figure that TF3 or 4 will be out by the time RT LAM comes out. Does anyone think this will help or hinder the chances of this movie being successful at all? You have TF, a somewhat household brand name. Jeez, my mom knows the names of quite a few of them, and will be even moreso with more movies on the big screen. Then there's Robotech, the movie that is a copy of TF (as how parents and many people will see it the more time passes).

It's one thing for speculation to be wrong, however, that seems to make Kevin and the mods think that it always makes them right. But you are right, whether the movies come out or not, going by the facts from Shadow Chronicles, they're not gaining fans, just making some money off of a poorly written time wasting feature.

Hey, just went to www.protoculturetimes.com (JT, or Zen72's site) Very interesting Random Thought podcast. Here's the summary After reading that, it all makes me LMFAO!!! Especially this... Apparently, being a RT mod means you understand how Hollywood works, and that's why if you disagree, you are banned. I'm still trying to figure out what they have been right about, when much of what they've banned people over, they've been wrong about??? Doesn't take rocket science to remember the "use of original SDF:Macross designs in new Robotech productions" fiasco, to see the erroneous claims that have been made. I wouldn't mind seeing Robotech revive in a new and ORIGINAL way (not using the pre-existing designs of MOSPEADA), but the trend and path that it's going on now, I think half, if not more than half the fanbase are not in unison. I think that in order for Robotech to come alive, it probably needs to die where it's at so that someone with vision can pick it up. Maybe that's WB's goals. While this has all been said before, the quote made me think about how highly the mods portray themselves. It's as if they feel that being a mod simply means that what they say is always right. I think that's fine for that site, but the problem is when it gets taken outside of the rt.com community, as it has several times. The more I see of the fans reading through these types of facades, the more it makes me feel that HG should keep doing what they're doing, in order to shrink the fanbase smaller than it is now.

I may be lynching myself here, but strangely enough, I find RT: The Untold Story, more entertaining than Shadow Chronicles. I've tried to wonder why...is it the nostalgia? No, can't be that, cause I don't really have too much of that to justify my position. Can it be,,, wait, yes, only because it is Megazone 23 with a choppy-ass story and cut and paste of Southern Cross and Megazone. Even still, the Megazone footage is enough to keep me somewhat entertained. With Shadow Chronicles, seeing it just makes me want to break something.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Jasonc replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Anyone have estimates of when we'll be able to get this for download, and on blu-ray? -
Every complaint from a RT fan that I heard this from made me think about this awhile back ago. Here's my hypothesis... My thinking is that it bothers them because they are seeing stuff that brings back the nostalgia of seeing Robotech, but it bothers them because it clearly isn't Robotech. I think it's more of a "sour grapes" type of complaint. If they saw a "verytech" pulling some sort of Minmay rescue, it'd be the greatest thing ever, but because we're the fans who get bestowed great footage, I think they simply find things not to like. I too, thought that criticism they had was quite flat on their part. Especially, in light of the fact that Robotech fans want nothing but to relive Robotech over again from ep.1. They want to see VF-1s, and they want to see things that connect them to the originals, yet they criticize it in a series that isn't Robotech, probably because it's not "theirs".

Thanks Gubaba for the link. It's so interesting that one RT fan who doesn't like everything HG is attacked, then for simple defense, is threatened to be banned. I know that's the narrow sided policies of the site, but even other fans are starting to notice the downward spiral. There were quite a few links over there, and what VFTF1 said here makes a lot of sense... It's not the case all the time, but a general guideline. Most Robotech fans I used to talk to quite often, had no clue about anything outside of Robotech. If the conversation didn't involve HG, or Rick Hunter, they were as blank as a new chalkboard. However, interesting enough, the ones that I'm still good friends with probably can tell you the Japanese voice actresses for some of the popular to moderately popular Japanese animes that never made it to U.S. soil. If RT fans can only equate RT to Star Trek, Star Wars, Pixar, and other things that don't equate the same, of course the views of Robotech are gonna be different. That's not apples to oranges, that's apples to squash. Those guys at rt.com are hurting.

Seeing Akiko is a welcomed portion of the series. She's one of my favorite women for the series,,, at least until another character by the name of Rex comes in a bit.

That's cool news that you've been researching this more than just price. The layers of .004 is awesome too, which means less finishing work and a more detailed end result. Anyways, keep us informed of the progress of the startup. I've been looking into the possibility of doing the Studio Half-eye 1/100 VA-3M Invader in a 1/60 scale. As of now, I have heard from one person who can do it, and they have yet to get me pricing. Because these parts have som rounded parts, it may be simplest to use a scanner. As I'm not hip on the details and specifications of 3D scanners, it seems that at .004 per layer, the detail of rounded objects maybe quite well.

Gubaba, do you have a link. I know, I'd look through the threads, but I really can't stand sifting through the tiresome threads there.

Looks pretty good so far. Good work. Can't wait to see more work and the finished product.

The fans have been groomed with the belief that HG will finish the story with the SDF-3. No future to look forward to, no bigger scope of story, just that small box. After 25 years going on, and being stuck with no new designs, it appears that what is there now, is all the fans want to know and be familiar with. HG has hindered the fans, and the fans haven't even known it, and yet, some of them like being in that state of degradation. After reading Tommy's story ideas for Shadow Rising, it does appear that they may only want to do 2 animated features. It does appear they don't have the creativity or will to continue the series. It must be hard work having to deal with fans in general. Every one of them believe they have the answers to save their precious Robotech.

That's not Macross Ace vol.1, that's Macross The First Vol.1. Macross the First is the flagship manga that is in Macross Ace. It appears it's popularity have earned it a solo book. I've been looking through Macross Ace 3 lately, and I'm really liking the designs of Macross the First. If Macross was redone as an anime series, I don't think it'd be such a bad thing, especially if it was similar to this updated version. So, now we wait another 3-4 months???

In this whole argument about continuing stories that should be left alone or not, it's quite easy to see the end results of the two sides. Macross has, for the most part, created new main characters for every series they've done, along with different sections of time. Because of this, if there isn't a certain part of a story of say, your favorite character, that isn't told, you can simply speculate, and talk about it, like how we kinda did for a bit here. The fans aren't left with the whole package, but get to engage the imagination more than having it all laid out. With Robotech, it has all been clumped into one big cast, and the problem they perpetuate, is that they have had such fear in just moving away from the bootlegged originals, that they no longer can, or feel they no longer can without losing their fans. They've boxed the imagination of the fanbase into this tiny box that only speculates on issues that were animation vs script discrepencies, and tries to fit them so that it makes sense. Either that, or the size of the SDF-1. It seems that's what seperate Macross fans from Robotech fans. We don't need everything spelled out for us. Now, I'm not saying that about all Robotech fans, cause some just watch it cause they know it and its accessibility. I think that applies to more the die hard elitist RT fans, whose biggest goal in life is to see what happens to their favorite war criminal, Rick Hunter.

Thanks for the pics. That printer seems alright for the final product. How many 3D printers are you planning on getting samples from? Also, the samples you pictured, what type of plastic does it print? Do the various printers print w/ various forms of plastic? If so, you may want to look more into the one that has the most durable of plastics. That will also help if you decide to "print" molds. You'll get more copies like that perhaps. Also, I take it that if the paint is holding pretty well, things like putty and all that will bond quite well, too.

That always bugged me when Kevin and co. would say that. Now, I don't care, but then, it was always "you need to spread the word so that people will buy Robotech. If you complain about Robotech, they'll punish us by not telling us anything or giving us anything." Can't feel bad for the fans though, they put themselves in that defenseless, threatened position.

Going away from the negative vibe, I looked through #3 last night, and this issue has the Minmay shower scene, just much more tame. Nevertheless, Mikimoto's pics are simply awesome. The story still falls in line, but has some differences that stand out. For those that got it, you see what I mean. For those that don't have it, don't wanna spoil it for you, but when you get it, you'll like the subtle changes. As for the other stories, there seems to be part of Macross7 Trash in it, but the other stories, I can't tell what's going on, as I don't read or understand Japanese yet. Anyways, I'm happy with it. Good art, and it's a complete book about Macross. What's there not to love?

Hmmm, as I'm not too much in the know about timeline around that time, I suspect Hikaru ended up being mr. mom for awhile. At some point he probably got pissed at the fact that he was playing the subservient role, and decided to re-aquaint himself with his old love Minmay. He ends up having an affair and Hikaru knocks Minmay up and they have a love child Named Basara. Who knows, I'm taking a shot in the dark based on that one M7 episode where the tabloid makes all those funny speculations. At least they didn't turn Minmay into a complete gardening tool like RT novels did.

I can careless about the tinting on the colorless vf-1. The fact that it's not tinted gives the cusomizers who want to heavily detail the canopy can show off their work. If you think about it, this is basically a hybrid toy/model kit, so it's gonna have some elements of a model, like unfinished parts, especially a canopy, where some customizers are gonna go all out. I wonder if Yamato will have a custom contest for this thing? That would be quite awesome, although, I know it wouldn't apply to us outside of Japan. I have a total of 4 of these on preorder, so when they come, I've got a list of customs to do.
