Any update on Zero? I know it's getting around the season where things slow down, so if you're busy, no worries.

Haven't even tried that song. I've been working on Ranka's version of What bout my Star (translation?) It's quite easy, just gotta actually spend time to finish it. I've got a couple of the Macross 7 Fire Bomber songs done, and DYRL (a version of it) completed. Also, a metal version of SDF Macross opening, which we horribly performed at MW con 08.

Seems like only time would tell if MH will continue or not. They did have the dark ride armor for sale recently on rt.com, but I don't know if that was a new release or not. I'm gonna assume that they aren't till I see a new ride armor. Hope for the best, but expect the worst, I guess.

Hmmm, how is your legions of groupies Pete??? I hope you aren't spending too much time with the cult, because the Hory Froating Head has called us to pay homage. The Gathering has come.

My thoughts on the value of a custom are pretty simple. It's art. Whether good, bad, or in between, it's someone's artistic interpretation of something they've seen, or something they've imagined. If the customizer/artist feels his custom is worth a million dollars, as absurd as we'd all see that, it's his work, and he can keep his art and value it at that price. I doubt he'd sell it at that, but value is in the eye of the beholder. I've customized a couple valks myself in the day, and thought they were pretty good. Many others have as well. But if someone thought they were garbage, it's not for me to criticize them. It's their opinion, and I let my work speak for itself. Any customizer takes a chance on the job he does. That Valk has a specific value when MIB, and when disassembled, painted, customized, and put back together, the general consensus may love it, reject it, or be in between. Likewise, if he is wanting to sell it, the factors at play are quality of work, the seller's value, and the buyer's value. When you break it down, it's as simple as that. As for the exclusive Valks that we have been seeing pop up, they make limited runs because they know only the completist groups, or those with a lot of expendable income are gonna bite on them. Good thing about them is that they'll always be at factory grade, and will retain their value more or less, depending on supply vs. demand. Bad side is that you usually pay much more for them. The same is for the stock valks I think, except you're getting something more common, and something that doesn't cost as much. This has probably already been said, but there's my $0.02 worth for ya.

I had two for sale awhile back. Sold one for $300 shipped, and the other for $250 both MIB. They were sold a couple months apart, and the decline of them was quick. I think anyone trying to sell them for more than $300 is gonna have a difficult time selling it, but then again, you were looking at one for awhile and almost bit it seems. Glad you got a good deal on it. I was never a 1/48 collector, but those, and the Roy Focker VF-1S weathered were two that I had at one point. I'm glad they went to 1/60 scale, otherwise, I wouldn't be buying VF-1s at all.

I'm playing catchup since I was at Disneyland Friday, and had to work saturday and sunday. I work late today, so I'm getting all caught up.

Pete, if I agree with your fight stupid with stupid, does that mean we're following your cult now? Do I sense a hostile takover? We probably should give them something to flock over and slobber over. With the franchise being nothing right now but a rumor factory, giving them something to stumble over would be quite fun. What's even more funny, is that even if they read these posts, which I'm sure they do, they'd probably still act out like little half wits. Well, if you decide to do it, I'm in. Hahaha, Like HIV, stay positive!!!

I'm sure one of the mods who hold their double standards would ban that person. I don't think the staff care...Personally, I really don't think they even care about the franchise they work for. I know Steve only gets involved when enough people bring it to his attention. Other than that, he's probably the laziest person on the planet. It's also the reason why part of the whole mess with their fandom is where it is. As for Dougbendo, it seems he's become the sellout that he hates. As I read several posts ago, someone pointed out that he seemed to be tolerant of Shadow Chronicles. I believe he had many choice words for the same show not too long ago. Ahhh, in all seriousness, in my profession, based on the facts, most of these people would be classified as 5150 (if you don't know what that means, look it up). Makes me happy that I am no longer part of the torn group. I'd be really offended and embarassed if I was, but like I keep saying, the wackjobs just make it funny. Too bad not enough fans care about the trash the few bring to the table due to their own mental incompetencies and personal issues. Oh well, keep the gossip news rolling.

Hmmm, from what I've observed and know, we all here have been our own voice, whether good, not so good, or whatnot. I guess I'm added to the crybaby festival because I have that tendency to piss off that side with no way of retribution. Don't know, don't care... I don't cater to morons or idiots. Seems that they just want to group all of us together as some cult for whoever makes the biggest splash, and Seto, that be you. I'm actually surprised that they didn't throw me in as a JT follower. While not necessarily that either, at least his podcasts consists of talk that reaches well beyond the i.q. of 100. I think a jealousy seems to be what sparked lil dougie to get all bent out of shape and banned. So, the little group of allies that was Dougbendo, Memo, and Pizza seems to have fallen apart? Makes me wonder why they even try. I don't think any of the elitist have ever learned to just play friendly. See what Robotech teaches you? It teaches you to fire off at anything that doesn't fit in your world. The decent fans of Robotech are going extinct. That's sad in a way, as some of them I got along with pretty well.

Man, I've been on this page for like two days, and never had a chance to read anything till now. Seems like a lot has gone on. I really hope there isn't a Macross LAM, EVER. I like the anime style, and think that a LAM would really only be a detraction from what Macross really is. I stand on the firm belief that just because something can be made into a Hollywood movie, doesn't mean it should. In the conversation of PTTSC, Dana does come off as more of a cowardly mess. Her first appearance in the Love and War comics (I think) shows her in Mospeada armor retreating the earth, in which again, that whole series is a retelling of the background of how Max and Miriya hooked up. Then, in PTTSC, she is shown in the cameo in a brief uncomfortable moment between her and Maia, which brings up another question...I know this maybe an odd question for here, but did anyone ever get a reason, or hear a reason why Dana's "sister" in Southern Cross was changed from Aurora to Maia in RTSC? It seemed like one of those "hey, let's mess up our continuity more so that we can show how much in control we are, then we'll make the fans like it." Either that, or they liked the name from Macross Zero. That's what I think, a combo of both. It's a C-O-N spiracy.

Uxi, did you go here to get the patches for those remaining DVDs??? http://asiandvdclub.org/details.php?id=31431&edited=1 Also, I finally finished all 16 DVDs and they work perfectly.

These poor people with nothing to do except try to rationalize something that makes no sense, then try to substantiate it as to why an almost 30 year old series is better. What makes it even more funny is the fact that it's all done for a couple fans who actually care enough to keep up with it. I like keeping up with it for the sake of a good laugh, while I'm sure those in the other boat are really trying to be as serious as can be about all this. Some RT fan's very existence within the fandom just scream "run for your lives" when they talk, or "damaged goods". Thanks for providing the comic relief.

I just got the Ranka book...Has anybody seen it yet, pretty cool with some new pics of Ranka, and a lot of writing, what may be in the first person. Interesting book.
-
Hmm, don't we hope it ends up looking like that. I wouldn't even bother. Just goes to show how RT fans are willing to accept anything. What can you do?

DVD 11 done, and working perfectly, only 5 more to go. This takes time, but the remastered picture, and the much better subs is fantastic. Working on DVD 12 now, but it takes a lot of time to do these. Have to add the patch, shrink the .iso for DVD-5, prepare the iso, then rebuild it, then burn it to the DVD. I am really happy with the end result though.

Someone at the next Robotech panel should ask when they're gonna stop bootlegging other series and make their own, using their own designs...I know this was asked a long time ago, but it's one of those questions that should be asked at least once a year. That advertisement makes it seem that the 3 series came from Robotech. I know only a moron would think that, but look at the people who we've had to deal with from rt.com and elsewhere. Not all of them, but it's not a far stretch to confuse them. In regards to my last post about the RT LAM, my hope is that if the movie gets completed, that new designs make the originals invalid, or dead money to HG. While it's a far stretch, it'd be nice. Better yet, it'd be cool if WB decides to pick up the franchise, and open up the negotiations properly to get all of Macross over here. OK, I know, I'm just dreaming, but still, it's a nice thought.

As I've read these past 2 pages, it's my observation that the people who don't like the serieskind of expected the story to be "spelled" out for them. This, I can understand. Most people don't wanna think about such heavy concepts while watching mecha go at it. However, I find it odd, that some would find the series pretentious. Anime, whether it's heavy in philosophy, or some bubble-gum pop anime, is art, and the artists who create it and make it, I don't think, make these with any thought of being pretentious. I've always seen NGE as being made with the intent to give each view a different interpretation. For anyone to assume that there's only one interpretation is arrogant, and would make that person who assumes that the @ss in that assumption. I said this before in another thread, and I'll say it here...NGE is like a painting, and should probably be looked at from different points of view. To think about it one dimensionally usually leaves you with a WTF type of reaction. It seems like the concepts that the creators had was way too much to fit in the constraints of the series, and what was left was more of an abstract piece of art that leaves the viewer to piece together it all and come up with their own ideas. I would say that my idea of NGE is correct, but it's correct for me. It may be different for someone else. I'm not into the whole "I'm right, and everyone else is wrong" thing. Now, if you don't like it, that's fine and all. This anime isn't for everyone, just like bubble-gum anime isn't for everyone either. I found NGE very different from most anime, but I wouldn't say earth-shattering, ground breaking. Nevertheless, it is one of my favorites amongst others.

I've only seen bits and pieces of the work so far, so it maybe interesting to see. Wasn't big on Edgar or the old guy, but I'll reserve my thoughts till the final product. Will it be available for download? and, will all 5 be done, or is this just the one episode and that's it?
-
The link for the patches for 8, then 10-16 are above. I've been putting the series on DVD, and they are coming out perfectly, just tested DVD 10, and it looks great, and the dialogue makes sense. I'm probably gonna buy some high quality blanks, and have the covers professionally done. I'd like to package this up nice, like as if I bought it. To everybody who helped put these together, thank you.

I have a feeling that if WB was going to simply sit on RT LAM, they would'nt have hired 4 writers already to try to get this thing going. I still don't have the confidence to say that it's going to get made, but I don't think WB is simply gonna sit on this, at least not at this point. If later on, it turns out that budget conflicts and other issues become too big, that can all change. On the "fan person" bringing this to WB, wasn't it Tobey's production company that first showed interest in this? Supposedly, Tobey is a big fan, so there you go. I personally can careless about the movie getting made or not. Either way, I think the fans that actually know of Robotech and are part of the website, are probably gonna feel alienated, as it probably won't resemble anything they're familiar with. On the flip side to that, if it comes out, and does well enough to put out product, all that new product will replace the old Macross related stuff. If new fans come in, which let's face it, there probably would be, they'll only be familiar with the new designs. Any Macross designs will be "copies of the original Robotech" for them. That may make Macross a franchise that they may have to stay away from. Doubt it would play out like that, but it'd be nice.

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
Jasonc replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Every interview that I read with the creators, they seemed to have the series so thought out and planned. What I think Evangelion is, is a series that has so much concept planned for it, that it wasn't able to have all of it put into it. The outcome was some sort of abstract interpretation of what they saw, where to the creators and director, it probably makes all sense, and to us, it makes little sense. Evangelion makes a lot of sense to me, but that took watching it through 3 times and seeing it through a very abstract P.O.V. Each time I watched it, it gave me new points of view, and things I didn't see before, became clear as day the other times. While that shouldn't be the norm for anime, Evangelion was more like a painting to me, and paintings are meant to be viewed more than once. Maybe a stupid analogy and all, but that's how I viewed it, and it helped me to understand it. On the topic at hand, I just got done watching Shakugan no Shana, and am currently watching Blood Plus, and of all things, Metal Armor Dragonar, which is very good. I've been trying to watch the DVDs I haven't seen yet, out of a collection of roughly 500 DVDs, so I have a lot of catching up to do. -
He made that kit about 2-3 years ago. I don't know if he's still on this site, but you can look him up and send a message. Don't know if he has any left either.
-
That kit was one of Ryuji's I believe. I have it myself, and it's a very cool figure. If you are referring to any decal's of it, Hasegawa came out with a MG kit a couple years ago. Haven't seen them in awhile, but they may be available on evilbay.

Hmmm, all the talk of smokescreens is making it quite hard to navigate, hahaha. Kevin's job has been to set up conventions that tell of no new big news, only create those smokescreens to keep people diverted from the hard facts. In going back to the year before Shadow Chronicles came out, Kevin had this big explanation of why they didn't have a distributor. The quote was more or less... "We want to seperate the wheat from the chaff, and the distributor we want is going to get Robotech to you." Basically, he then stated that it was all the distributor's fault because they wanted to shelf RTSC for a certain period of time, then possibly release it. That may have been all fine and dandy, but what he didn't tell you is the Alan Letz was trying so hard to work out a deal with the big distributor (forgot the name) with alterior motives. Alan worked off commission, so landing the huge distributor would've landed him big bucks, a position that creates a conflict of interests of sorts. Anyways, they simply forget to mention the part that they (HG) screwed up. Kinda goes back to when Tommy threw the Waltrip's under the bus for the PTTSC comic flopping, or horny young Korean animators for the large boobs. Kinda like Mattel for Sentinels failing, and low budget on that crap they call Shadow Chronicles. Now, I'm not gonna say that it's all invalid, and that none of the other parties are at fault, but the focus is centered so much on the outside parties that HG should have a damn halo around their heads. Then, if you think about it, if it is the other parties' fault so much, perhaps HG shouldn't be in business, because they seem to pick the wrong company everytime to work with. Maybe they should just stick to the real bread and butter of real estate and foreign films, and get out of the wannabe "space opera" industry. And on the LAM news, you gotta figure that TF3 or 4 will be out by the time RT LAM comes out. Does anyone think this will help or hinder the chances of this movie being successful at all? You have TF, a somewhat household brand name. Jeez, my mom knows the names of quite a few of them, and will be even moreso with more movies on the big screen. Then there's Robotech, the movie that is a copy of TF (as how parents and many people will see it the more time passes).
