  1. Since this has added new stuff, I hope to work on an updated translation. I wonder how this will affect the sales of Macross Ace, if at all. Reason I say that is because Macross Ace's flagship story is this one. While some of the other stories seem pretty decent, it seems like Macross the First is what's really selling it. If that goes directly into its own Manga, do you think that will detract some buyers from Macross Ace?
  2. Yep, doesn't seem like they put in the same work for the foreign languages as they did with the english. However, I do know that Robotech en espanol is quite popular. Supposedly, those VAs did a great job, although, I've never seen an episode, just small clips of it. Supposedly, they're working on putting out an official spanish release of the show. Don't know if they're getting the spanish VAs to do their roles again, or do cleanup or not.
  3. That's the problem HG had when they decided to integrate 3 seperate series together. Especially with a small budget. While I think the VAs did just fine for Robotech, it still doesn't change the fact that yes, there are 3 seperate series that were more or less legally bootlegged together. Having the same VAs is fine for the Japanese series, cause they were simply different series. No harm, no foul. That's not to say that Robotech was all wrong with using same VAs to do different roles. The voices do seem to fit pretty well for the characters. Compare that to ADV's version of SDF:Macross...
  4. The issue with Global's accent is interesting. With Robotech's latest "canon" (correct me if I'm wrong), Global was actually captain of a Russian sub, and was part of the military that the Russians were on during the unification wars. That would make him pretty educated, and probably did know english as a second language. In some reality, his accent to the story would work just fine, as being Russian. In the case for Khyron, well, when you have Greg Snegoff playing multiple voice roles, not only do you change pitch, but changing the accent a bit probably helps distinguish one voice from the other. Imagine if Khyron and Scott Bernard had the exact same voice.
  5. Thank you so much for the translation and all. This is a great little Macross gift. Very much appreciated. You guys are awesome.

Let me mix my paints....OK, ready to paint Bring em on!
  7. Well, you can say that about Marcus' friend in RTSC. But, as it happens to turn out, most of the people that are "standalones" get killed off. To me, that character from RTSC was the better of the two new characters, but with no relation to the heroes, he was bound to die.
  8. Nah, not so much a challenge as it is just an example of how the whole story is too forced with everyone having a tie in to some character somehow. It's ridiculous, but again, it's Robotech. If they tried to introduce a new character that wasn't directly tied to the heroes, they probably feel like it isn't a great story. In turn, they've convoluted the story into a game of "6 degrees of seperation"
  9. Going by Robotech M.O. She's a granddaughter of Dr. Lang. The problem with Robotech, is that they are so tightly bound to the characters, they don't want to move from them. It doesn't make sense that out of all the characters that interact, they are either all related, or tied together somehow. Look at shadow Chronicles (you can do this with any character just about). Vince Grant is related to Claudia Grant, who was Lisa's friend. Because of the family tie, Vince meets Rick Hunter and takes off to do the Sentinel's. There he gains rank to get his own ship, and who of all people becomes his "science officer"? Louie Nichols, once part of the 15th ATAC. His commanding officer was Dana Sterling, who ended up falling in love with Zor in Southern Cross. Zor was the creator of protoculture as an energy source, and the reason why the SDF-1 came to earth in the first damn place. Dana jus so happens to have a sister named Maia that's part of the same Skull Squadron Rick Hunter, Roy Focker, were part of. Maia is also daughter to Max and Miriya, who takes an early love interest in Marcus Rush, which happens to be the younger brother of Marlene Rush, fiance to Scott Bernard. Scott Bernard, during his easily calculated meeting with all these people, is also the same Scott Bernard that Met up with Jonathan Wolfe, the supposed savior of the Sentinel's series, who had a love interest in Minmay, who was the first Miss Macross winner, and the one who helped the SDF-1 conquer the Zentraedi. I can go on and on, but this kinda crap is what makes the Robotech world so small and fake. Supposedly, it's supposed to be clever, but it's really just stupid. Can anyone not be related to someone, somehow???
  10. The chibi Ranka in her dominatrix outfit is freakin' hilarious. Thanks for sending that. On another topic, I just won those DVD bundles, the promo DVD, and the other one that may have the cut scenes. Should receive it in a few days. I'll let you all know what it is when I get it.

Man, can't wait to see what the finished painted ones look like. This is what I've been waiting to see. Figs in 1/60 scale. Absolutely awesome, Exo.
  12. It's no secret that had HG made the 3 seperate series less tied together, they could've solved a lot of the plothole and continuity problems. Then again, there were other decisions that just came off bad, but still have people arguing, like where the damn SDF-2 was in To the Stars. I know this has been argued to death on rt.com, but (shhhhhh, here's the answer) There never was an SDF-2.
  13. Damn, you guys plan quickly. While I will not be able to go, I can't wait to see the pics like this year's con. Very well organized, and I'm sure with the con picking up some steam, I'm sure it'll be even bigger this year.
  14. Damnit!!! Just as expected, awesome product, with next to no availability. If anyone goes to Winter Festival, and can somehow pickup a couple of these, shoot me a pm. Will pay decent money for the Zentraedi soldier and the baby pod thingie.
  15. Well, I'd simply post it up, but I wanna get more info, and make sure that what I write is accurate. It's not earth shattering, but interesting. Trust me. You can go to sleep at night and not be perplexed by any big conspiracy or anything like that.
  16. Bids placed. If I win it, I'll be hooking it up and will give you the rundown. I'll probably be generous though.
  17. I have to go back to what Pete said long ago. Robotech has more plot holes that swiss cheese, some of the original Japanese concepts have been butchered to death, but in all that, I really think it's more the staff, their practices and approach, and a certain number of fans that make the franchise so undesirable. Even after Robotech brough Macross to the U.S. and changed aspects of it, I still became a fan of Robotech as well. It was only before RSC that the "ugliness" of everything started making itself known. While a moderate fan of the original aired episodes, it's been easy to walk away from what it's become. The product itself, has gone so far downhill, that there's just nothing to defend, nothing to like about it. Again, while not a diehard Robotech fan, the difference between me and a lot of other Robotech fans (aside from being a Macross fan first and foremost), is that I know when to walk away. That had nothing to do with people, business policy, and all that. It was simply poor product. While all the rest of the drama piles on top of that, as Kenny Rogers said "You gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, and know when to run." - The Gambler Speaking of all this, there's a good bit of info I found that may be of interest. I'm gonna verify it, then if it turns out to be true, I'm gonna post it up.
  18. These will be late Christmas gifts. I wonder how daunting the unassembled one will be?
  19. I finally got all my books together and out of all the boxes, and I didn't realize how many different books I had. While I don't collect the Doujin stuff, it may be a next option. Next month comes the new Valkyrie files book that should be for the YF-19. That'll be the next one I'm waiting for. Does anyone else have any large book collections to post? It's always cool seeing what books you're missing and all, and the rare stuff.
  20. The good thing about the Imagineasian is that it has the english dubbed version that didn't stretch the entire series. Sad, cause it was quite good. But the option is there to hear it in English or Japanese. I'm working on getting copies for a few people for the remastered M7 w/ english subs. When I'm done with that, if I can copy these discs successfully, I'll make copies for those who need them. Just don't bum rush me for them. I may need to get a new DVD burner (external) to supplement all the burning I've been doing. So, no one has any idea of the scale of the new Orguss toy???
  21. Mmmmm, Yoko. She's fan service with a big @ss gun. My kinda woman!!! LOL

    Decals

Yeah, I've been working on making some as well, especially in light of the new unbuilt wht VF-1s that are coming from Yamato. My work has been mostly on scanning an reproducing, but the decals with different shades of white is an issue. I guess I could still print on clear and different scales of white will be fixed by varying amounts of black or grey pigments. So far, I have worked out the sizing more or less for the MG Moon act (is that what it's called) set, and am now working on the Paris Act version. Being that the Valks are white helps a lot, but incase it doesn't, I've been looking into getting some done professionally Since I think the unbuilt Valks don't come out til February, I think I will keep testfitting till I'm 100% happy, then go from there. I do like the decals you got there. For anyone else who has knowledge of this art, what is a good decal brand to use? What did Anasazi use? Those decal sheets seemed to be of decent quality. Also, what do you use to seal them? is it just clear coat?
  23. Congrats man, that's good to hear. Aside from my small toy purchases here and there, I'm now saving up a little dough for the Macross Fever Pachinko game. That's my next big purchase. Hopefully I'll have it before MWcon2010. If that happens, I'll leave bringing helmets to the one who has the display to show them off (hint hint), and I'll bring the Pachinko game. I should also have a custom to show for this year, pending no other major issues. Right now, my helmets are in the giant boxes they came in, and in a large closet. I thought I wouldn't have any space, but it turns out I made just enough.
  24. And, while some fans have the series 2 or 3 times already, do you think there'd be a large number buying the series on Blu-ray? The fanbase is shrinking, and those that are still fans, how many would pay yet again to have Robotech's set? I was thinking that the heavy banning and no news is for two reasons. For the bannings, it's both ignorance from mods, and 2) HG does it so that negative word about the show, or franchise hit WB. As for no news, same reason. HG continues to say that all is well, simply because saying anything different will make it lose it's potential as a WB product. With no product, no updates, and nobody with the license to distribute their media in buyable format, all HG really has it their word right now, which has proven doesn't mean too much. I speculate as to whether or not the lack of news and appearance of a great franchise they are trying to generate is really going to work? I would be interested in seeing a LAM, but Robotech has gone into a reactive mode and defensive strategy, that is starting to bleed through its cover.
