I have noticed some of the changes from Macross Ace to to the Manga, but overall, the changes seem to be somewhat minimal. I'm really liking the story (although a retelling). The slight changes from t.v. series to manga are quite interesting and help the story move along quite nicely. Can't wait to start working on the translations for the rest of this.

Yeah, I should've added that in as well. While it would be nice to argue more, the fact that he brings nothing with him is a waste of time. That argument does outweigh my argument. Oh, and Seto, I forgot about that segment. I guess BW would have a decent case if the show was made today, but back then, it was different. Very interesting, indeed. That thread really proves a few things. 1) HG and the mods have been on a defensive standpoint for so long, they can't even answer a simple question without wasting two pages on rationalizing why they shouldn't and talking about NDAs. I think all that started out with one guy asking about footage that was shown at some convention. Then it was only after like 2 pages of stuff unrelated that the question got answered. Still, the mods have taken a defensive position and still persists to prove some point that isn't necessary. 2) It shows that the mods really do have their own agenda. While I didn't spend my time reading through every post, Memo kept plugging away at JT/Zen 72. I'm curious as to how JT belongs in their thesis of how NDAs work? Tommy, Steve, and Kevin have really let their fandom go, that's for sure. They've left it to the mods to destroy the rest. It seems like the only Robotech fans who have been unscathed so far are the fans who don't care enough about the franchise. They've been able to avoid all the drama. Thanks Chrisk for the link.

Strangely enough, I wouldn't mind him back here to try and debate. His whole 5 posts amounted to absolutely nothing, and I think the mods had enough of his mindless babble before locking his posting privledges. All I know is that he's a nobody wanting to be somebody in this world, and he probably just needs a hug "Robotech style", with lots of Protoculter seeds and all that fluff. I never tried, or claimed to be anything I wasn't, but apparently he thinks I tried to start a Robotech following, and I've been banned way too many times. Now I see what makes many of you laugh so hard at this garbage. When someone tries to talk about you, you really get to hear just how wrong they are about many things. I just about fell out of my chair laughing when I heard all the things I supposedly do, and all the things I supposedly have done. Onto other topics like the Sentinel's mecha, I was actually OK with the new Tactical Battle pod. It's not a bad design, if it wasn't a straigh rip from the original. Of course, this was all before the court rulings, and it never did make it to production, but had it gone to production, could BW sued HG if they wanted to? (This hypothetical based on seeing those designs and it making it to the sentinel's episode they're in)

What made me laugh is that he was using a voice software, due to the fact that he couldn't read. Then when the voice software pronounced my name, that's how it came out, so that's how he pronounces it. You know, if his show actually just talked more about the Robotech, less of the politics, and wasn't so mentally withdrawn, I'd actuall listen to his show once or twice. But listening to him talk, you might as well kill brain cells. You have to, to go down to his level. I have to admit, I laughed my ass off when he proclaimed to have about 950 listeners on his show. We already know he's lied about that, and the one time I went to his show while he was Broadcasting, I don't think there was more than 6-8 people on there. That's a long stretch from 900+. While I don't care about the numbers, it simply shows that what is reality, and what he perceives are just about as different as east from west. While I've always been a Macross fan, I do like some aspects of Robotech, and anyone who talks about that stuff can be interesting if done right. The misconception that I, or we hate all Robotech fans is what they keep pushing, to make it seem like we're just wrong about everything. Fact is, aside from a few rowdy so-called fans and the HG staff practices, I have no problems with fans who like their shows. Even if they like Shadow Chronicles, I'm not gonna try to steer someone away from what they like/don't like. It's a shame that it's always the few RT fans who spoil it for the many.

I was over on a certain podcast, and somebody did get extremely butthurt, so much so, that all the facts of what transpired have all been changed. Supposedly, we are all scared and went running away, and supposedly, I'm a Robotech fan who fell really hard. Strange, since it's been no secret that I was a Macross fan before I was ever a Robotech fan. Also, supposedly Seto, you get all your info from me, I guess by mental telepathy, who the hell knows. Anyways, as I said before, it's good comedy listening to his so-called analysis of events that occurred. I'm sure he used every brain cell (all 5 of them) to come up with what he did. I didn't know I was trying to gather my own Robotech fandom, and that I've been banned several times. Hahaha, supposedly, I'm really scared, as if I'm trying to push some agenda. I must've really pissed him off something real, cause he basically made up about 90% of the story. Hahaha. you know, if I actually cared, I'd go on, but to waste my time on whiny-@ss crybabies is something I don't have the time to do. What I did notice, is that instead of actually reading the post on the podcast, he used some software to read the posts. And now, we have a clue as to the fact that he is indeed, illiterate. And now, the poor sap is schooled and back on his own rant. Great stuff.

yeah, that was classic!!! I haven't used that line since high school. Thanks for taking me back a long ways. It's great to see that things are kinda back to normal. I'm waiting for someone to post about some podcaast of hate for us. I think we're so hated sometimes cause we're usually right. That can piss off many a trouble makers trying to push an agenda.

Freakin' A-right!!! That is awesome!!! I agree w/ Gubaba. I am envious of you, man. Looks like that was a heck of a lot of fun.

Wait, fill me in here. A depopulation I understand from Space War 1. Was Milia 15 yrs old when she got married? Where is that mentioned? If in M7 (the ep. I missed), I'll have to rewatch it.
-
I like the whole thing with Mylene being set up with Gamlin. Miriya sees that her daughter is now at the age when she needs to think about marriage (at what 14, I think it's kinda an old tradition). To me, it looked as though Mylene's reaction to that was more like a "do I really have to?" response. However, the terms on which they meet is very interesting. This episode was very rich with Mac II music, which I do like as well. I find it fun to see the "artists" of the various Mac II songs in action, especially Ultra Rave. LOL. With Basara, he still has missiles loaded on his 19, so either he didn't have time to take them out, or he is unsure what route he's gonna go. Will he need them later, and should keep them, or does he remove them. In this ep., he uses them yet again. In anycase, not much happens that's too different from the other episodes. Fun episode though.

What's interesting about the Grace costume on ebay, is that it's very functional, and represents fashion of today. A girl could wear that to work, and nobody, not even a Macross F fan would probably realize what the girl is wearing. Also, I'm not totally sure about this, but that maybe the going price for outfits like that. I'd like to see more Grace cosplay too. She's one of the more sultry women of the series, but probbably isn't so popular due to the fact that here costume isn't so over the top.

See, the sad thing, is that nobody will address that here (speaking of those from rt.com. They'll act as if they never read it, and claim ignorance yet again. But that's HG's MO for avoiding the issues, and that is how their more voicestrous fans skirt the issues...They answer the questions, totally avoiding the real issues in order to save some face. And it's true...they have only come here and just cause trouble. If it was rear debate with some substance, that'd be great. I'd welcome that with open arms (figuratively). However, it's not like that. They make a statement, and argument, and it's countered. Then they make another statement, avoiding what was said to counter. It's usually evidence of a lost argument, and they do it everytime. I'm glad the thread has cooled down a bit, and hope that it continues to do so. Robotech and Macross fans should spend more time enjoying their perspective shows, not engaging in fruitless politics that lead up to hurt feelings. Open debate is good when both sides can understand each other, but here, it's been an argument from RT side that makes no sense, and their refusal to understand the sides here. A surefire formula to lead to disaster.
-
I'm not sure if simply locking the thread is really going to help anything, either. As for the thread needing to cool down, I think what needs to cool down is the real antagonists coming in here spilling misinformation, ignorance, and sheer stupidity. It seems that the only time they come here is to simply start arguments that make no sense, and can't argue with any sense of logic. The group try to post logical arguments, and like little dougieboy said, he doesn't care about logical arguments. So, why should they be here, if only to troll and disrupt things. We've made our points, have shown all the facts, and have proven (AGAIN) that we're right. So, I say we keep the thread going, and mods either decide to ban those that are causing the trouble, or let them be, and let them continue providing the comedy we get. Here's the "issues" that have caused all the mods to jump in here, and I think it should be weighed on what to do with it. -dougbendo: Has only come in here to troll and basically trash the site itself. Any argument he's made has no real ground, and the fact that he openly doesn't care about listening to counter arguments proves that he is just here to troll and cause trouble Maverick LSC, well, I haven't seen him post as much, but the only time he did, it was deleted, then, right after deletion, he posted it again. I've usually seen people banned for doing this, and while he maybe a mod at rt.com, someone in that type of status should know what that weighs on a discussion board. I don't know if he should be banned or not, cause other than that, he doesn't posts at all, just lurks, so enough with that. Memodominion, Memo, I hate to throw under the bus, cause I know him, and outside of the politics and stuff, he's a really nice guy, but I gotta call it as I see it. The whole debate about licensing has been going on for how long now, and while Memo should be allowed to debate the issue, it seems more now that the questions he asks, and the things he grabs onto, are not really to debate, but more to simply start trouble here. Especially when he's ignored what multiple people have written on the subject, and randomly posts, avoiding the facts, and just writing his own opinions with no real facts. Now, should they all be banned??? I don't know. That's not my job here. However, when you get to the reason why all the mods have had to jump in here, it's mainly due to trouble caused by these listed above. I'd like to welcome these 3 to debate in a civil, logical manner that includes listening to all sides of the argument, but so far, the evidence of what they're capable of has proven otherwise, and perhaps the mods need to address the real heart of the problem, not the thread outright. I'd rather have this thread up and keep it all here, than lock this thread, and have this debate run rampant across the entire board, like what almost happened in the MWcon 09 thread.

"All your Sheryls are belonging to us!!!" Simply awesome. Sheryl is by far my favorite character for Macross Frontier.
-
It's obvious why he does it. It's so that he can make himself feel important in an otherwise pathetic life. Since he's on the "I hate everything Macross" bandwagon, he's gonna come up with anything he thinks might further some fruitless cause and try to run with it. fortunately, it makes no sense, and is unfounded, and aside from a great laugh at feable arguments, there's not much else to debate on that. I'm sure he'll still talk as if he actually has the intellect to engage in the conversation, but it's just for our benefit to laugh at.
-
Yeah,, I had to watch that as well in high school. I think the subject has been pretty much dead for awhile now. Some people aren't gonna have the mental capacity to differentiate between art that's drawn and child porn. What's in Macross F isn't even gratuitous, i.e. no detail, and it's just like what, an astral projection? Anyways, it just seems like one of those issues that if dougieboy is gonna bring it up again, the response should be more of a "sure buddy" "whatever makes you feel better". Chalk up another argument as lost on his cause.

Hmmm, first off, I don't need my friends to come and help me out, especially when it comes to you. You're trying to call me out as if you know everything about what's happened, and again, you show that your little brain doesn't have the capacity to understand much, if anythig at all. I never claimed to be anything more than a Macross fan, and obvious that bothers you, so you grasp at things to try to anger me. But, since you're nothing but a joke, I should thank you for your little comedy bit quoted above. Yo seem to think that Macross is all I have going on in my life. Don't compare my life to yours. I'm sure you'd be sorely disappointed. I don't need to revolve my life around a cartoon to make my life feel valid, unlike you. I don't need to have a podcast of mindless jibberish and pretend I have hundreds of people who "lesson" to me to feel important. You've already been proven a liar with how many people listen to you, so whatever helps you keep living in your feable minded bubble, whatever. I do welcome you to speake more to everyone here. Keep reminding us how ignorant and half-witted you are. We can always use a good laugh, and you've proven your worth as just that.

I hope he does say that he came on here and claimed victory, if for Dougbendo, getting schooled is a victory. That fact that he did nothing but get put in his place, to him, may be a good lesson for him, and maybe that is a victory. It's also a victory here, because we don't really have to link his site anymore to show what an empty void of nothingness his show is. It's all here to read. One thing I believ about these supposed Robotech fans, is that they aren't really fans at all. I believe they've just latched onto something, they feel, will give them a good 15 minutes of fame. Everytime the mods (representatives of HG) and the self proclaimed #1 fan of Robotech speak, 95% of the time it's either about HG politics and legal debate they don't understand, or it's about not knowing the difference between artistic representation from child pornography. The other 5% is throwing the disclaimer of being a fan, and banning or lashing out at people that don't agree with them. In putting what is observed together, it leads to the question, how much validity should be put into what is said? What does that say about HG and the people they put their trust in? So far, all I've seen is more division than bringing their fanbase together, and yet, they are over here. If I was someone who only posted in this thread, and had no clue about Macross, what it represents, who the characters are and about the product, I don't think I'd really be much of a fan, if one at all. That's why I think most of the people who just cause trouble aren't even Robotech fans. I'd feel that way about anyone, but it says a lot when this is coming from part of HG, and someone who proclaims to be the #1 Robotech fan. Sorry Pete, that's probably why you haven't gotten your answer you've been asking for a long time now. Most of the Robotech fans I know that seem to really be fans keep out of the drama. They talk about the show, things they like, things they don't, but they keep it consistent, and don't wrap their fan existence in garbage claims and politics. Anyways, Seto, in your post up above, you were asking about a stable CMS...Um, what is that? Since I know it's not the CMs corp toys you're talking about, I'm at a loss. Let me know, maybe I can help.
-
Hey guys, I would keep the debates about people's ethical behavior out of this thread. While Pete makes an argument to a statement related to the dub here, that seems fine, but If dougbendo wants to talk about stuff related to the dub, whether it make sense, or not, I welcome that, as should Hikuro. Going outside of that doesn't make any situation better, not to mention that most of this is in the HG and lic. debate thread. I'm not a mod, but I just like to keep this interesting thread, clean as possible. On the subject of making the characters more "ethnic" Pete is right in the fact that the Macross franchise has never engaged in racial stereotyping in such a manner. HG likes to advertise that Robotech broke all stereotypes in cartoons with Roy Focker and Claudia having a relationship, but in reality, Robotech's staple to their franchise is Macross, and SDF Macross was the one that set all that up. Using that as an example, inserting dialogue in Macross Zero to (what I define from dougbendo) make Edgar "more black", would be a very bad move. Edgar is Edgar, and the thought of doing that would show that there are already preconceived ideas about characters that degrade the viewing of the show. Instead of criticizing the dialogue for that reason, most people that work on dubs, whether fan made or in the industry, try to keep the intent of the dialogue and characters to a certain integrity. Going away from that not only destroys that integrity, but takes away from the original creators intent. It is a form of work that was popular with Robotech and Voltron and Gatchaman, but is kinda frowned upon these days.
-
That definitely has the makings of one of the best AMVs ever. I do miss the Mac II footage in it though as well. Nonetheless, very well put together.
-
Yeah, I throw out The BOMBA like it was last weeks Deculture! I just talked to Gubaba about this, and I started thinking about why the Robotech fans with any status (or status between their two ears) decide to stay in this ignorant, defensive state? Afterall, we don't see too many fans going this route, except a couple bandwagoners. Then, it started coming to me. To actually read the facts, and not hide under the "ignorance banner" would mean that there's great list of things that they'd be wrong about, and would have to face those. Now, whether they do it consciously or unconsciously, I don't know, nor do I care. But it makes a lot of sense in that manner, and really does bring up the question of why we engage in the on and on and on and on debates over things like artistic impression vs. child pornography, and the right to use Macross designs in new productions and new footage. Ignorace seems bliss for these people. That's more or less why I don't answer any questions regarding the HG licensing. Simply summarizing, you get post like what was linked on rtx.com. I gotta call Bull$hit when I see it, so it is what it is. Then, if you really go back to the base of these debates, what are they? They're small, insignificant claims by same said people in a much bigger arena. Something that's child pornography to someone that has a problem with sexual tension is gonna see it as that, and someone who thinks HG can still use Macross designs is still never gonna see them. It seems like these small arguments are simply to make the world they create seem bigger than it is, and a way to lash out at their precious Robotech's "competitor" (I loosely say that, because aside from the Macross saga/SDF Macross, they have no similarities really) So, what do they do? They create these weak and well, to sum it up, stupid claims to make themselves feel better by putting down the "competitor". It's what I'm starting to realize, and it really makes all this kinda pointless to some extent.
-
OK, finally up to date, Hahaha. Just got home from work about an hour ago, and well, it was fine,,, did my part in putting away the common criminal street trash. Good stuff. Man, I guess I'm not gonna get an answer from Memo at this point... wait, I take it back, no response does signify an answer. On another topic, who says MacrossWorld is a joke? It's done what no other site has been able to do, and that's bring Robotech and Macross fans together. Macross fans love MW, Robotech fans keep coming back and can't get enough. Web traffic is up, I think our cult practices have brought bountiful harvest.
-
Obviously, it did work on you, because you responded, wasn't that pretty well predicted. But, whatever you wanna believe to make you feel better man. It's pretty obvious that you decided to attack a person who genuinely loves Robotech for the fact that people don't listen to his show merely to listen to garbage or laugh. Instead of helping your fellow fans out, your jealousy has made you more of an @ss than anything. Because you have no real ground for criticism for his podcast, you pull ignorant, dum@ss ideas out of the air that amount to crap, about what your show has been turning into. The claim that we use JT as a platform for whatever, we've been on here long before his podcast came up, so if you're really gonna try to argue with me, at least do it with enough wit to make it somewhat interesting, and not sound like an ignorant butthurt crybaby over someone who isn't even involved in this conversation. Now that that should be taken care of, I'll get back to reading all the post after that.
-
How did JT get involved in this? I doubt JT giving props to Seto would translate to Seto giving him his show notes. That seems to be more of a beef, or better, a jealous streak, you have with someone who actually has a great show. Speaking on the part of the "Death to Macross Purists" line, don't know if it was you who said it as well as the one JT pointed out, but what you are suggesting that guy was saying is opinion. Now, I will "lesson you here" for a moment. The problem in your argument above, and what seems to be your flaw, is that you interpret everything so that it only fits your opinion. For the example above, the statement "death to Macross purists" is interpreted as just frustration. Yet, on the rt.com TOU, whether direct or interpreted, the statement still goes against those said TOU. The problem, again, is that you interpret it to fit your argument. The same thing with the Ranka age debate. you go against all facts and data of her age, and only use something that works to fit in your argument. I'm not gonna get into the Ranka/pedophile issue, because to me, the show is art, and anyone who thinks pedophile, from what I would gather, is one who battles with those very same issues. What one sees as art in an artistic part of a story, you see a naked girl/pedophile. That's all I'm gonna say on that, because there's not much more that needs to be said than that. As for the argument you have with Seto, that's between you and him, and I'm just gonna point out the misguided statements that are there for now. Glad I was able to understand the post enough.
