Love this show...Mav says something stupid, we ridicule it, and like clockwork, the circus fire brigade come out in comedic fashion to put out the fire. It incites more laughter and ridicule, and just like clowns, attempt to put that fire out. Sad, sad clowns, I'm sure we'll hear it in some podcast to try and feel empowered, and indirectly keep the ball rolling downhill on them. Sometimes, I really wonder why they attempt to put up these baits even. All it does is backfire everytime on them, and makes them look incredibly stupid. Why not just live happily in their Robotech world with an absence of Macross? Wouldn't that make their world so much easier? Oh, wait, if they do that, their Robotech would disappear. And that's why you'll always have this tension from both sides (well there are other reasons), but you get what I mean.

That would be 16 cases of art to make for 16 slim cases. I just need to get the art back that I had, and start putting it back together again.

And this coming from a Robotech fan. At what point do the mods realize that they need to fix the weeds in their own yard before trying to clean up a Robotech house. That's not even talking about them trying to say what should/shouldn't be fixed in another franchise. Some of those examples of Maverick's "brilliant quotes" seem to be at the point where he has gotten frustrated enough to burst out, and make personal attacks. One of the so-called voices of HG. Perhaps wanting to get everyone to believe in the Robotech "New King Mod" version is wearing at them, especially since it seems to be driving the fans away more than bringing them together. Heck, maybe they should be called Macross purists for their disruptive behavior on rt.com and causing division amongst the true Robotech fans. You know, if it wasn't for people like the mods, or lil dougie bento, I think the Macross and RT franchises would be at a happy peace. What they need to understand is that we don't ridicule every RT fan, and it's not so much even that, that is ridiculed. But rather, it's these certain ones that create the volatile fuel and perpetuate the animosity between both sides. In once being tied to both sides equally, there is a happy medium in liking both, if that is what people claim, and what people want. It's why I have friends on both sides. As JT/Zen72 has pointed out in his multiple podcasts, it is the hate, and discourse, that these mods and their followers spread that keep not only their franchise from doing anything, but invite the scrutiny from RT and Macross fans. As for the trolling of mods here, if they feel the need to do so, it doesn't bother me at all. I find it quite funny, and lets me know again, that we're saying something right, and exposing something that bothers them. Oh, well, keep it coming.

Haven't decided yet. I'd like to get them in a case that could hold 4 DVDs, but I haven't looked at the cases yet. If not available, I'm probably gonna go the route of thin cases. I had some art, but lost it all in a computer upgrade. So, I'm working on it now.

In other news, just read this bit of garbage from the guy who thinks he knows all things. post can be found here: http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...p;pagenumber=11 Maverick wrote all this: This is funny. Warner Bros only has a major role??? As far as has been presented, WB is doing all the work, while HG isn't doing anything with it. They have no say-so creatively in the movie. For someone who claims to know so much about the "industry", he hasn't proven much. We're just getting warmed up. Many macross fans are sticking ot Macross 7 and II? I know a few fans prefer the alternate universe, and feel it should be the canon, but besides that. While this is all opinion, and open to interpretation, Bandai is afraid of experimenting? Then the whole thing with Gundam??? OK, first off, there's not really anything that's 100% original. What becomes original in these storis points is the pace, direction, and the individual events. What Macros has, is a formula that not only makes the series continuously popular, but also helps sell millions of dollars in merchandise, as in movies/series, clothes, toys, model kits, books, posters, heck, even food. Since Maverick is talking about the franchise formulas here, what has RTSC's story formula given it in comparison? Talk of a LAM? That doesn't even mean anything, as there's nothing to complain. Moving on... Shadow Chronicles had a unique storyline??? Really? Plotwise??? Since 1/3 of it is rehashing story directly taken from Genesis Climber MOSPEADA, I don't think that part qualifies as original and unique. The rest, well, Robotech synopses...Aliens invade earth because of a flower energy source, humans fight aliens while being the underdog, and humans eventually win. Not original at all. As a matter of fact, at least Macross had endings that were new in their own sense. Robotech's 3 endings were other endings to different shows. the whole bit about Gundam fans ridiculing Macross fans because of Macross F? Who cares! If they don't like it, or don't like Macross, they're gonna do it. I doubt it's because of Frontier, but for whatever reason, who cares. Frontier is successful enough to get criticized. Again, people have their opinions, and the success of the series, and the success of the movie in theatres (not a special engagement release like RTSC) shows that despite yours, mine, and others opinion, the general consensus is that it's good. Comparing to RTSC, well, there is no comparison needed. I hate comparing the two, cause it always ends up with RT fans getting upset, but look at what is, and you see where things stand. Frontier is already going for a second movie. RT is still trying to figure out if they can make Shadow Rising, or still in a pre-production version of Dante's inferno.

I have a crappy collection, and will someday soon, (hopefully today) take a pic of them. That is, if I can get my stuff done in time. Hahaha

That's awesome, what does it say on top of her signature?

I have a box of these somewhere in my case, but would need the time to draw them out from hiding. I know I don't have them all, but they are quite cool. To be honest, I haven't looked at them since the day I got them. Do the boxes come with any duplicates? Maybe if that's a possibility, we can trade so that we can all get the entire set. Had I not seen this thread, I would still have forgotten I even had some of these.

No, that title is given to wife, family, and all that per se. Literally, since we're not even in the center of our own galaxy, that's enough to say I'm not the center of the universe. Edit: Why, while reading this thread as of the past few posts, do I here the song by Rockwell, the song in the Geico commercials, "I always feel like, somebody's watching meeeee." There's a new theme song for you.

Seto, while I do understand your concern there, at the same time, this is the internet, and a public forum. We put ourselves out there, just like they do, and because of that, people are going to wanna look at posts you make, as well as scrutinize your views and comments. They do it to me as well, and others here. As long as you put yourself out there, the possibility for it to happen is out there. As long as nothing illegal is going on, not much you can do, except maybe introvert yourself. But then again, how true would you be to yourself at that point. I don't think there's much harm they can do, and let them get what they will out of it. It should boost your points for argument sake. They still don't have much of a counter argument yet for certain things, which maybe why you have a new admirer. "Maverick and Seto, sitting in a tree....." (J/K) spoken to lighten it up a bit.

My DVD DLs are done. I didn't do the ifoedit, as when I viewed the DVDs on my PS3, they seemed to show the Subs just fine. Anyways, my DVD work on them was quite an experience, but they play great. Haven't checked the parts of DVD8 and 16 that had the parts that freeze for a second or so. So, that leaves me with 2 sets, DVD-5 (standard DVD+r) and DVD-9 (DVD+R DL). If anyone wants copies of these, they're still available. Just send me a pm. Now it's time to start working on case art to make it look a little more official. I'm definitely impressed with the quality of the DVDs. It was a loooooot of work getting them done, probably more due to my inexperience in rebuilding the .iso files, adding the subs, on and on. Nevertheless, again, thanks to all who put this out on bittorrent, who did the subs, and who provided the freeware to get this done. My wife and I are gonna start watching the series now. Starting with episode one.

Those are some issues. It's not like profiles here really say a lot about people. Maybe his sense of hatred for you has turned into some weird attraction towards you. I think if you were simply talking nonsense, there would be no concern from them. However, since you do speak logically, and with some truth, as many of us have, you'll get the occasional drone either contacting you, or "spying" on you, if you even call it that.

Seems white was the best choice for this release, as most of the Valks from SDF Macross are in a white color. A gry would be cool, but I'm not gonna hold my breath for it. BTW, anyone else have these and started work on a custom yet??? Let's see some more stuff.

Bravo, Bandai!!!! Now, if they can just put english subs on their DVDs and blu-rays, fans here in the U.S. and in other parts would buy the Macross productions even moreso. It'd be a great way to "get around" the blockade. Bandai, be like Nike, don't think about it, "JUST DO IT"

Love these episodes of "As the Franchises Turn". Why did Memo ban PTH? That should've been a great hint as to what he meant to the fanbase there (aside from TOU breakings). And then they wonder why people don't stick around. For the PTTSC comic novel, it'll sell for those RT fans who have to double dip, or those that never got the comic. I'm sure HG will claim that it sells super well once it's out. They'll do a small print run, just enough to cover some fans, and the casual buyer, and if they sell out, it'll be a huge success.
-
Is there really that much of a disconnect with some RT fans??? I'm saying some, not all, but still. If one is going to only sit in this thread because they don't know much about anything else in any thread here, that's one thing. However, as Gubaba pointed out, making arrogant assumptions, pretending to understand what this site and people is about from one thread is stupid. I'm not saying people have to engage in other threads, just more of a challenge that would "hypothetically" be made to people coming in. Look around, see the people who put out artwork, fanwork, toy customs. Catch up on toys coming out, other debates, other shows, movies, series, etc. There's a large amount of info here, and a lot of people willing to provide it.

I'd have no problems welcoming people into the forums, even if we disagree. I get along with people who like Robotech only, people who are the "Macross purists" and everywhere in between. However, the few things I wouldn't put up with are the misinformation, and unwarranted attacks and false accusations. I wouldn't expect it here, just as much as I can't stand it from elsewhere. So, if people were to leave camps and start coming over here, that's fine... I'd welcome anyone as long as it's kept civil. The problem is, to this day, it hasn't happened yet, so I wouldn't expect it to be rolling hills of green pastures. Also, if they did come over, they'd probably have to bear with the scrutiny for awhile. Those that are here that started off as RT fans probably had to go through that at some point. How much more would it be for a PTH, or Memo, or anyone else who's had a negative history, not only here, but in their own franchise of choice? I'd also hope that if they were going to congregate over here, that it wouldn't just be a chat only in this thread. While it does get a lot of traffic, it's not all that interesting when it comes to the Macross franchise. This thread represents a speck on part of what MW has been, and is. It's one of those things I find so hilarious about lil'dougbendo's podcast. He makes an ignorant, and ill-informed judgement on this whole site based on one thread. But, I guess that's what happens when you just aren't in the "know", and when you put your whole focus on one tiny peephole. You kinda miss everything else around you. So, in conclusion, if there ever was gonna be people congregating here, I'd hope they'd actually get to know the site, and not stick to one thread. There's so much more here than just this thread.

Yeah, and it's still someone else's work they've taken, so how legit is the debate of which franchise is better? Saying something is like something is one thing, Something BEING the same thing is completely different. I like when RT fans use the excuse that "Macross is a rip off of Space Battle ship Yamato." Uh are you sure about that? I honestly don't think those people have even seen that series, cause if they did, they wouldn't be making that assinine statement.
-
Much agreed. As much as they say they want to disassociate themselves with Macross, Macross, perspectively "has them by the balls". They'll never be able to let Macross go, and stand on their own. As much as it sucks to still have that connection still ever so prevailant, it bodes well for Macross, and still indirectly markets Macross as the thriving source for Robotech's success. For a disgruntled Robotech fan, as we have kinda seen, it effectively gives remaining RT fans an alternate to RT, and a better alternate than RT. When you have Tommy Yune attending MWcon, and secretly frequenting this site/thread, that shows just how much Robotech is sitll dependent upon Macross to sell product and merchandise. Honestly, do you think you're gonna by Shadow Chronicles T-shirts, or would you rather have one with a Valkyrie, or the SDF-1 on the front? Oh, and on the topic of Mari Ijima, whenever she's gone to a panel, or con, it's usually to sell/promote her CDs and stuff. I doubt that it's to promote Robotech. Technically, she did NOTHING with Robotech, Macross only, so her being there, along with Vic Mignona and the other guy, is strictly out of some loose tie into RT. Probably out of convenience. Nevertheless, it does reaffirm that Robotech is really nothing without Macross. As a RT fan of old, I can easily, and proudly acknowledge that.

Let us know if you get something going. I am going to a party with a group of Macross/Robotech fans, and a few of us will be interested in hearing it. If you're interested, we're meeting up around 2p.m. pst. If you're in socal area, pm me, and I'll give you my cell number so we can coordinate when your podcast will start. We'd like to listen in. Save, keep me updated. Still interested in working on this with you.

In regards to the UEG Robotech idea... While the designs aren't the greatest, I will give it to them in the fact that they are doing something to a franchise that they like. Not only that, but they are creating their own designs, and making it different enough to where it doesn't clash with Macross, at least in my opinion. The character designs look quite good, but maybe the mecha designs aren't the greatest. I'd still support their efforts over HG's efforts. At least these guys actually like what they're doing, and it shows. It's fanart and a fanfic of sorts, can't really judge them on it in that case. I'm quite fond of the project, really. I think anyone branching out and trying to do their own fan version of something deserves some attention. Just like those here that do Valk customs. It's fanart, and it keeps the fans together and alive. Seems though, that this project has been stuck in the same place for a lonnnnng time. I wonder if they are still doing anything with it. I even gave them an early garage band version of the song "We Will Win" over a year ago (maybe longer) that is unedited and all. It never was fixed with it's errors, nor was it enhanced, but I wonder if they were going to do anything with it. They should ask Michael Bradley for permission to use his version of it. Anyways, since they're not making any money off the project, I wonder if HG would want them doing the project of if they'll try with the C & D order. They proclaim to really dislike the current regime at HG and can't stand RTSC, and for all good reasons.

Considering the size of the iso files being 6.5 to 8 gigs in size, I'd say they were dual layer. I now have DVD 8-14 finished. I'll probably throw #15 in tonight before going to sleep, and check it in the morning.

I'm more on the belief that these VAs just happened to be there for other reasons, and HG contacted them and basically said, "Hey, will you come to a panel with us? You'll be there anyway and we'll pay you $X.xx to come by." Afterall, those VAs - Mari have done much more than Macross, and with Full Metal Alchemist 2 coming shortly, I'm sure Vic will be there for that. Maybe Steve Yun is still dating, or tryin to date Mari, and the reason why she's going, or maybe the con asked her to go, who knows. But in any case, it's my guess the VAs aren't there just for Robotech.

Can't say much about NGE vs Robotech, but in the case of Macross/Southern Cross/Mospeada vs Robotech, it's quite simple. First came the regular, "unfixed" Robotech DVDs. then after they came out, ADV again produced the Robotech remastered DVD box sets...OK fine. Then ADV, again, created the Protoculture collection, which was the remastered set + the Sentinels and the extras that came from the first release. Somewhere in there, Animeigo put out SDF:Macross, which was done very well, but had a high price point due to the great work that was done on it. Later on, ADV put out a crappy dub version of SDF:Macross, and also released Mospeada and Southern Cross. Essentially, what ADV did was oversaturate the market with Robotech product, then turn around and say "Oh, BTW, here's the originals, if you're interested." The U.S. releases of those were more of an ADV afterthought, and may rightfully explain a sales difference. Also, as others have said, quantity has never = quality, especially in sales. Even moreso when you're talking about rehashing the same product over and over. Even if they were both released at the same time (Robotech DVD and Macross), we live in an area where the few people who do recognize the series will recognize it as Robotech. There's no need for anyone in either camp to use this as an argument for anything. It says nothing of quality, or of success. The fact, if it is true, is just that... a fact. Anyone who'd be dumb enough to use that as a basis for a "Robotech is better, or Macross is better" argument is just being a fool.

I'm working on getting these done on DL DVDs, but having a bit of trouble on getting them made. I have the set done on regular DVDs, and I can copy them for you. If interested, PM me and I'll give you the details. It does take some time, but for the regular DVDs, I think I'm caught up on making copies for people. As for the dual layer DVDs, I've only been able to successfully complete DVD 14. This is a lot of work, and taking a lot longer than I thought. Also having to redo all my apps since I upgraded to Windows 7, but the computer no longer crashes, and it runs super fast like it used to.
