That is one thing that bothers me as well. And no offense to our friends from the other boards here, but I do agree that I don't like this thread being the "banned camp" from rt.com. However, I guess it can go both ways. While that's not necessarily a good thing, allowing people in here and learning about Macross specific is OK. How do you balance it out though? I don't know. I guess as long as it's here, and stays here, it's alright. Although, being in a Macross forum, you'd think there'd be that reason to look around. It's like a Macross fan only going to rt.com.

And now, all this will be used against you PTH, they're probably gonna portray you as a disgruntled fan who's only posting here cause you can't conform. Best thing to do is simply stay true to yourself, and ignore everyone else I guess. In regards to what you've said about Memo, the same type of things have been said before from others, so, I do think there is some truth to it. While that may be true and all, you do have to come to terms with the fact that while somebody can suggest you do things and whatnot, it ultimately is your decision what to do in the end. Acknowledging that is the first thing to know before you start to figure out where to proceed. And to add what others have been saying, credibility here is something that's earned, not just rewarded out of blindness. When certain people say something here, they are taken with a certain amount of validity, because they've shown that they have the facts straight, can physically prove what they're saying, and/or haven't said things to promote their own agenda. I'm still gonna hear what is said from all sides, but if the credibility is zero, it's at that level for a reason. PTH, don't be surprised if people are gonna criticize what you say here, cause gaining trust takes work.

"You can sculpt when your drunk!!!" Are you gonna put the big spie in the dress??? HAHAHA!!!

If they had an mp3 version of this toy, I think I'd load vocal Basara tracks and the entire Fire Bomber library, as I think everyone else would. This thing would also be around $300, but damn, a transformable MP3 player that's all Macross.

Why is it that in those quotes, the so-called Robotech fans don't know the difference between the two series, and have what seems like line after line of spelling mistakes? No offense to my Robotech friends, but is there any brain activity going on in some of those comments? It appears not. I'm not mad about it though, there are people who just refuse to use any common sense in their statements. As the saying goes, if common sense was so common, why are there so many people lacking it? Oh, and say hello to page 25 peeps!!!

That was a little vague. What are you referring to?

Yes, there are some dilusional Macross fans as well, and every once in awhile, they do come out. They are generally shunned by by the general community, and aren't mods. I don't villify all RT mods. Some are just level-headed nice guys, and I still keep in contact with them on a regular basis. It's a problem when the mod status goes to someone's head.

I can understand that, and some of what you point out is the negative effects of what transpired. Not all is nice and pretty and perfect in my analysis, but the things that seem to be getting to you are some of the things that are part of the large equation of the dislike for HG and staff from RT and Macross fans. It's quite known that Carl Macek originally just wanted to air Macross as it was intended, just dubbed, but the 65 episode minimum helped create Robotech. But when you hear things like Macross was flawed and Carl had to fix it, you kinda see the end result of the combining of the series.

I think it all comes down to this...If the diehard MW haters had to look outside of this thread, they'd have to admit that we're not all haters of Robotech, and all out to kill that franchise. I've said it many times before on my own behalf. I do like Robotech. Still do, at least, what's left of the original. While I was a Macross fan first (since 5th grade elementary school), Robotech was my source to get a version of it here. I did become a fan of both. The misconception that most of us hate Robotech is some idea to keep some imagined war going by many dilusioned RT fans who want Robotech to be more important than it is. Memo knows not to go there, because that idea is simply ignorant, and stupid. Although, somehow I think people like eluding to that idea as to keep the drama rolling in. Another misconception that I'm reading and hearing is that Macross fans hate Robotech because they used Macross in Robotech. While that maybe a couple people's hatred, I think 90-95% of us don't have the problem stemming from that. I think most of it is due to the fact that Macross isn't distributed over here, even though it's grown outside of original Macross. And I know, RT fans will use that argument that HG tried to get it over here, but, in hearing the details of how they tried to do it (and yes, I have heard the DETAILS), it wasn't much of an offer, but moreso of of an "either/or" decision that seemed very one-sided. Then there's the licensing debate,,,in which people like Rhade perpetuate the misinformation. Anyways, Pizza, although we've indirectly have had differences, I am glad to see you finally posting in here. I hope you do come to realize that we're not the "bad guys" and although we may have different fan interests, we all just wanna see our respective shows do well. I know you're a Robotech fan, don't know how much of a Macross fan you are, but there are many threads in here with lineart, fanart, toy pics, collections, cells, scoops (scoopda) and all sorts of things. Look around, and I hope you see what else this site has to offer. Despite differences, I think it's great to have people with them. It makes the site much more interesting to hear criticisms, ideas, and disagreements. Welcome aboard.

Thanks for sending that link. She's definitely got talent as a pop star in her own right. I bought that DVD concert of hers, and it's definitely fun to watch. I'd love to put translation to it, so that people can watch it by MW con10. Good stuff, and to see that youtube link of her before MacF, awesome. -

What you should do, is write to her publicist, I think her name is Grace. Tell her how you feel, and maybe, if you're lucky, Sheryl will even write back to you and explain that this is just a representation of her in WWII'esque art. Seriously, you do know she is a made up character, right? I have no problem with the figure. Sheryl's character is a bit of many different types of women. Her character comes off as smart, sassy, funny, sensual, successful, emotional, and of course, hot. Her character dresses in flashy, over the top outfits, so aside from the nose art figure, I have no problem with what she wears. Her character is balanced out, and brings several dynamics to the series, comedy, drama, fan service, and music entertainment. -
It'd be interesting to have HG lawyers try to go after them with a C&D order. They're not making their fan show for profit, so, what are they gonna do? If they're gonna go after them, they might as well go after everyone who does fanfics, fan art, so on, etc, etc. HG would really have no stance as far as going after them, from what it seems. It just looks like they're pissed that they're getting screwed over by the franchise they are so wanting to support. There comes a point when the UEG guys will need to decide just how much attention they'll want to give to "Robotech". I can always appreciate fan work, and I know these guys have done a terrific job on what they've done so far. Such a shame that boys at HG are gonna do the whole "sour grapes", and get butt hurt over someone doing something. I'm kinda curious as to what sparked the deleting of all their posts and account?

I know Angel Voice is a basic chord progression that's common in quite a few songs. the verse chords I know are C, G, Am, F...but you gotta keep your 4th finger (pinkie) on the high E string, 3rd fret (G) throughout the chord changes. That's the "twang" you'll hear in the song. I don't remember off hand the exact chords for the rest, but it's pretty easy to figure out. For Planet dance, it's more of a blues/rock chord progression in B Here's part of what I have for that. Verse B A E B ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------4----2-------------4-----2-------------------------------------------------------------------9-----7---------------9---7-------------------------------4----2-----------4---2-------- -----------------4----2-------------4-----2--3--4-----------------4---2-----4---2---3--4------------------9-----7---------------9---7----8---9---------------------4----2-----------4---2---3--4--- ----2----2-------------------2---------------------------0---0----0---0-----0----0-----------------7---7---------------7--7--7------------------------------2----2---------------2----------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Then, the chorus part G#m E C# F That's the most of the song. There's some fills and stuff, but it's quite easy. I'd tab out part of the guitar solo, but most of it is just soloing around the verse chords, lots of hammer-ons and pull-offs. -

That's pretty cool. I know how to play most, if not all of Angel Voice, Do You Remember Love, a rock/metal version of Macross (original opening song), Planet Dance, and I'm currently working on Banana Moon Love (is that the title) from Macross II. What software do you use to write out tabs on computer? If you have one, is it freeware, or is there a link to get it? I'd like something I can use to put out these on my computer. Writing takes forever. -
Nice work, Exo. Now you need to make a 1/60 scale Sir Mix-A-Lot with a DJ table chaser, and we're set.

I have no problem saying that the Robotech VAs are much better. When they put Robotech together, they actually cared about what they were doing. A few of the VAs at the time, like Greg Snegoff, and Steve Kramer, were doing much more than just voices, so their work meant much more to them than it probably did for the VAs for ADV. That's not to say the VAs of ADV didn't care at all, simply that for Robotech, they had a much stronger tie to the show. Also, the fact is, is that the RT VAs simply worked. The voices fit. There's only so many places you can put Edward Elrich's voice in. Hikaru isn't one of them.
-
I have a lot of respect for people like Tony Oliver, Dan Warren, Richard Epcar. Those guys were first starting out when Robotech was being put together. Most of these VAs have moved on to do good things, like other anime voice work, voice over directing, LAM directing, and many other things. I'm not one of those that believes that all anime should be in its original language only. I wouldn't throw in the VAs into HGs garbage. They make the panels HG has, simply to draw in fans of the show and fans of the VA, as well as to get paid for their time at the panel. I doubt they're in on all HG's ploys.
-
You know, no matter how high of a pedestal fans are gonna put Carl Macek on, it's always interesting to see him kiss @ss to the HG staff in hopes of getting a job back there. He was like that during the shadow Chronicles one day theater showing. I know he believes he's a creative genius, but but I wonder if he takes pot shots at Macross during the interviews to boost his marketability in the industry. That wouldn't surprise me at all. On the idea of HG interviews being predispoed to favor them, I wouldn't doubt that as well. Look at the video Memo put up where that girl asked about the licensing stuff, and being able to use Macross designs in new productions...Tommy cut the interview short after eluding to being able to use Macross designs in merchandise productions (a strategic combo Tommy must've thoght of to keep the RT fans living in that delusion). What that video shows is that they really didn't want to get put into a corner that they couldn't get out of. I'm sure they knew that after the answer they gave, they would've gotten called on it. Sometimes, what isn't said is much more important than what is. Classic example.
-
I don't know about you guys, but I prayed to Carl Macek for this day to go buy quickly, and he put the Robotech soundtrack on my ipod. It made my drive go by quickly on my way into work. You should pay homage to those that bring life to forever dead franchises, like Macross. What the hell were they thinking with this love triangle, and music that can change the hearts of aliens garbage? It's obvious that it doesn't work. Their franchise has only been around for about 28 years, hardly a blink in time.

Awesome, now go get your #2 HB pencils, start sketching, and put those erasers to good use

Hey, another Jason that plays music. Too bad you don't live out here in Socal. It took me a long time just to find some people who like playing music from this genre. Do you have any guitar tabs or songs? I've got down good portions of a few of Fire Bomber's songs, and DYRL. Even have down one or two Macross II songs. As for other anime, working on the opening song from Blood +, the 2nd opening song from Death Note, and a couple others. Perhaps we can share music? Let me know. Jasonc -
sounds like he lives in denial... not too uncommon for whiners and poo butts, hahaha. I've heard that, or have seen that attitude elsewhere. They hate Macross so much, that they've supposedly seen all the new series, and know enough to talk about it over and over again, even if from a very elementary p.o.v.
-
He's done that before, usually only to fit his bitching or his argument. It does, however, from most people's perspective, invalidates the credibility. This does indeed make him a sellout.

Pure awesome!!! And those guys have the perfect flight suits for the Pink Peckers. Yamato, get on it. Don't let this slip by.
