Just reserved two copies from Kinokuniya Los Angeles. I'm good to go.

It's celebrating the original version of Robotech, not Robotech now, so they don't have current staff scheduled to attend. Also, if it was possible to have original Japanese creators attend, it would've been done. Paying for them to fly out, and all that is quite expensive, as I'm sure you're aware of, and would probably put the cost of the event out of most people's reach. As for comic artists, and novel authors, I don't know. HG isn't running this event, so this isn't supporting the franchise in terms of supporting the company monetarily. This is just a celebration with staff and VAs that worked on it back in 84-85. There's nothing political about it.

Wasn't that cancelled anyways? I heard the last Beta did too poorly in sales, and they aren't going to put that one out. Time will tell.

While this is a "debate thread" there is one good thing I'd like to point out that is going on for the 25th anniversary. http://www.rt25celebration.com/ This appears to be a very promising even filled with lots of fun events. I encourage anyone who's a Robotech fan, and has an interest in attending to make the trip. I plan to be at this event. Seems to be a truly one time event, and not to be missed. P.S. I have more info if you're interested. It's not my event, but I can answer any questions you may have.

My wife married me with my semi large collection at the time, and she's a fan of this stuff already, so that helps, and as long as bills are paid and I'm still putting money away, it's all gravy.
-
There is, but I can't talk about that right now. Does that sound almost like Kevin? If there is something official/semi official, I'll probably go. Aside from a few asshats, there are some really good Robotech fans who appreciate both sides of the fence. It would be interesting to see what rtx puts together. I'm thinking more likely it'll be a BBQ type thing, like they did for the launch party last year. That was fun, but wasn't anything official, or anything with substance, except for Michael Bradley performing. That was the highlight, and worth the time.

What makes the intentions of the REF goofy, is that they are willing to destroy earth, and the people who live there, for what? It makes sense if the REF wanted to have a small human population and live on uninhabitable worlds and on ships, but what sense would that make? Anyways, thanks Seto for clarifying the details of that info. By that explanation, it would indeed seem that the Regis was correct in assuming that humans were following the "children of the shadow", LOL.

But at least you understand the difference between setting up a military colony on the moon, and sending over a million people to a habitable planet to grow and preserve the race and to make that planet a new home. Perhaps that difference is too complicated for some.

Since I've had some free time after work, I figured I'd listen to various podcasts. Now that I'm caught up on the he said she said, I noticed lil dougie making the world colonization compared to Robotech argument. Apparently, his understanding is that a base on the moon, and a base on Marse constitutes colonizing a world in the true sense of colonizing. Scott Bernard's quote about the landscape "being as vast as Venus", while they'd all be dead on the planet, to him, seems to indicate that the Robotech universe is colonizing worlds. Am I wrong in thinking that setting up military outposts and bases on moons and uninhabitable m-class planets is not the same as finding a new self sustaining planet as home? Somehow, I couldn't help but chuckle at the idiot, and thought I'd clear that up for him, since he probably needs help in understanding a few things. Colonizing and setting up military outposts are not the same thing. Anybody who would've gone into the atmosphere of Venus, would probably die within minutes at least, from the intense heat and gas. If he would've looked up M class planets, he would've seen a Star Trek reference there, but a planet that more or less can sustain human life. Again, still supports pretty much what I said before back on page 46 Edited for spelling.

Each of these series is different from the other as can be. Macross Frontier is fantastic, and you won't be let down with it. Great mecha action, and also has a bit of the comedic moments you'd expect from the average anime. Some people that expect only robots fighting 98% of the series and no character depth may criticize it too much, but if you like a good story with various elements involved, good start. Claymore: I actually liked this series. It's a bit violent, lots of blood, and gore, but the series is quite good. I wouldn't call it totally original, not by a longshot, but it's exciting to watch. Desert Punk: This has fan service, and some good action, but it didn't grab me as a series, and I just couldn't really get into it. I never finished watching it. Gungrave: Saw parts of it, and a few episodes, and it seemed promising. I think the previous descriptions of it are just as good as any. Ah! My Goddess: This series was great. For fan service, comedy, and a story that isn't grimn and sad, you'll enjoy this one. I laughed quite a bit on this one, and liked it enough to buy the sequel series. Good stuff.

I didn't even want to comment on the stupidity, or just sheer ignorance of that. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and just say that they are ignorant when it comes to the difference between Robotech and Macross.
-
I wonder why it's so difficult for them to put that together? Usually there are dates and timeline that are mentioned in the introduction of the series. I mean seriously, how hard is it to figure out that 2059 comes after 2045? The problem is, is that those that criticize and make that call usually haven't even seen any of it, or very limited amount of Macross. Granted, DYRL and the design changes can be challenging, but really??? Is it really that challenging? Robotech's timeline isn't that complicated either, they have other issues like the story itself that is a mess.

So, it's not a Robotech fan show, it's a Macross bitchfest show. Wow, sounds like so much fun.

As for lil dougie, who the frack cares? The more he talks, I'm sure you've all realized the more off base he is. Geez, everytime he opens his mouth about me, it validates my point about him. He's a wannabe shock-jock, who makes a bunch of outlandish claims, hoping one of them hits a nerve with anyone. I mean, c'mon, supposedly, I create forged documents for Seto to post up, as well as for JT. I'm also supposedly still trying to raise some sort of Robotech fan group against HG WTF??? His info is about as good as as a paranoid schizo thinking that the CIA is conducting experiments on him in his attic with aliens.

I use CD japan also, and they are good at getting stuff to you and packing it up nice. Also, they have a point like system, where you can turn in some credits for cash off your total. -
Yeah, I'll be ordering these from Kinokuniya online. That way, I'll avoid the mishap of forgetting when they come out.
-
I think Jonathan Wolfe's location is in the ground. Now, if they changed that, then that would be a problem.
-
Yeah, i think the lunch first would work best, simply due to the fact that people won't have to search for anyone.

I'm gonna get one of these soon, still love my Matchbox version. Is there gonna be an "officer pod" coming out if this does well?

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition

Yeah, just a preview that's already been seen. -
My wife was going to put together the DVD art based on M7 pics I got, but to be honest, I can't find a lot of good quality pics to use. My wife has also been busy with doing some very important projects, so the process has been going slow. If anyone has more links for artwork, it'll help. I've got the 8 disc DVD cases (had to order a minimum of 10 of them), so the cases will be made for that, but one can always edit that for whatever case they decide to get, or get them from me. anyways, I haven't forgotten about it. It's still in process.

If the neutron-S missiles were a success, the remaining fleet would've been exactly like Battlestar Galactica, trying to find a new world to colonize, and having some Robotic race after them. Robostar Galactica Chronicles. At least in Battlestar, they had 12 colonies. The Robotech fleets seem to think that only one planet is good enough.

OK, if everyone is OK with this, I'm gonna make a reservation for Curry House in Weller Court, unless anyone has another restaurant to eat at in Little Tokyo. Also, what time would be good. Wanna do lunch first then walk around, or walk around first, then lunch?

This was always one of the things that in the debates of wars between Macross fleets vs. Robotech fleets, pro RT fans couldn't get. While in RT universe everyone is still fighting just to survive, while in Macross, the human race is growing, developing, and moving forward. They colonize new worlds, have their allies, and have massive amounts of resources that RT universe just wouldn't have. The simple fact of Macross having a flourishing population would make the growth and strength of their military far more powerful than in Robotech. I did kinda laugh when Grant jumps to a "colony" vessel, that's quite small. I guess it really reflects the population size of the RT universe. They spend from ep.1 through Shadow Chronicles fighting for survival, not expanding and growing. It kinda takes any logic out of the whole grand story that Robotech has generated after the Macross saga, and SC reinforces that illogical decision.
