  1. Each of these series is different from the other as can be. Macross Frontier is fantastic, and you won't be let down with it. Great mecha action, and also has a bit of the comedic moments you'd expect from the average anime. Some people that expect only robots fighting 98% of the series and no character depth may criticize it too much, but if you like a good story with various elements involved, good start. Claymore: I actually liked this series. It's a bit violent, lots of blood, and gore, but the series is quite good. I wouldn't call it totally original, not by a longshot, but it's exciting to watch. Desert Punk: This has fan service, and some good action, but it didn't grab me as a series, and I just couldn't really get into it. I never finished watching it. Gungrave: Saw parts of it, and a few episodes, and it seemed promising. I think the previous descriptions of it are just as good as any. Ah! My Goddess: This series was great. For fan service, comedy, and a story that isn't grimn and sad, you'll enjoy this one. I laughed quite a bit on this one, and liked it enough to buy the sequel series. Good stuff.
  2. I didn't even want to comment on the stupidity, or just sheer ignorance of that. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and just say that they are ignorant when it comes to the difference between Robotech and Macross.
  3. I wonder why it's so difficult for them to put that together? Usually there are dates and timeline that are mentioned in the introduction of the series. I mean seriously, how hard is it to figure out that 2059 comes after 2045? The problem is, is that those that criticize and make that call usually haven't even seen any of it, or very limited amount of Macross. Granted, DYRL and the design changes can be challenging, but really??? Is it really that challenging? Robotech's timeline isn't that complicated either, they have other issues like the story itself that is a mess.
  4. So, it's not a Robotech fan show, it's a Macross bitchfest show. Wow, sounds like so much fun.
  5. As for lil dougie, who the frack cares? The more he talks, I'm sure you've all realized the more off base he is. Geez, everytime he opens his mouth about me, it validates my point about him. He's a wannabe shock-jock, who makes a bunch of outlandish claims, hoping one of them hits a nerve with anyone. I mean, c'mon, supposedly, I create forged documents for Seto to post up, as well as for JT. I'm also supposedly still trying to raise some sort of Robotech fan group against HG WTF??? His info is about as good as as a paranoid schizo thinking that the CIA is conducting experiments on him in his attic with aliens.
  6. I use CD japan also, and they are good at getting stuff to you and packing it up nice. Also, they have a point like system, where you can turn in some credits for cash off your total.
  7. Yeah, I'll be ordering these from Kinokuniya online. That way, I'll avoid the mishap of forgetting when they come out.
  8. I think Jonathan Wolfe's location is in the ground. Now, if they changed that, then that would be a problem.
  9. Yeah, i think the lunch first would work best, simply due to the fact that people won't have to search for anyone.
  10. I'm gonna get one of these soon, still love my Matchbox version. Is there gonna be an "officer pod" coming out if this does well?
  11. Yeah, just a preview that's already been seen.
  12. My wife was going to put together the DVD art based on M7 pics I got, but to be honest, I can't find a lot of good quality pics to use. My wife has also been busy with doing some very important projects, so the process has been going slow. If anyone has more links for artwork, it'll help. I've got the 8 disc DVD cases (had to order a minimum of 10 of them), so the cases will be made for that, but one can always edit that for whatever case they decide to get, or get them from me. anyways, I haven't forgotten about it. It's still in process.
  13. If the neutron-S missiles were a success, the remaining fleet would've been exactly like Battlestar Galactica, trying to find a new world to colonize, and having some Robotic race after them. Robostar Galactica Chronicles. At least in Battlestar, they had 12 colonies. The Robotech fleets seem to think that only one planet is good enough.
  14. OK, if everyone is OK with this, I'm gonna make a reservation for Curry House in Weller Court, unless anyone has another restaurant to eat at in Little Tokyo. Also, what time would be good. Wanna do lunch first then walk around, or walk around first, then lunch?
  15. This was always one of the things that in the debates of wars between Macross fleets vs. Robotech fleets, pro RT fans couldn't get. While in RT universe everyone is still fighting just to survive, while in Macross, the human race is growing, developing, and moving forward. They colonize new worlds, have their allies, and have massive amounts of resources that RT universe just wouldn't have. The simple fact of Macross having a flourishing population would make the growth and strength of their military far more powerful than in Robotech. I did kinda laugh when Grant jumps to a "colony" vessel, that's quite small. I guess it really reflects the population size of the RT universe. They spend from ep.1 through Shadow Chronicles fighting for survival, not expanding and growing. It kinda takes any logic out of the whole grand story that Robotech has generated after the Macross saga, and SC reinforces that illogical decision.
  16. I'll give it a try and see what it is. It's downloading now.
  17. What makes the story unclear is that after such devastation, instead of decided to help preserve humanity culturally, through procreation, and military-wise, they really only do it by military, and the other two as a distant after thought. In Macross, it makes more sense to build up your military and send out colonies to preserve human cultures, and even expand culture based on whatever M-class planet gets inhabited. As a kid, watching Robotech, then hearing about the Sentinels, the idea of "hey, why don't they occupy other worlds for resources and to avoid utter destruction by another alien race" was pretty apparent to me. Even in Shadow Chronicles, they're still fighting over the one planet. Now, that's all fine and dandy, but it would make sense to also have other occupied worlds, in case Ricky poo did destroy the earth with his neutron-s missiles.
  18. I gotta agree on all the why Rick Hunter. He wasn't really the type to move to admiral on his own merits, more like they were short handed on population and high ranks, and Marrying Lisa was just kinda the default role they gave him. Robotech's problem is that they made him so important, that there's really only one focus for their story, and if they deviate from that, everything else is just minor, happenstance of finding Rick Hunter and the SDF-3. The story has become really flat.
  19. Overall, the VF-27 kicks ass over the 25. the fact that the gun attachment is built into the body is a plus, as is the connectors for the Galia IV booster. I'm also impressed with the tamp printing, which makes it extremely detailed. the swivel in the legs, the angle of the crotch area. It's indeed improved in almost every way to the 25. I attacked the Galia IV boosters to mine, and it's awesome.
  20. I'll be celebrating Robotech as it originally was, as in the 85 episodes. To me, it has merits as far as opening up my knowledge to 3 series I couldn't originally get back then. For that, and the good quality work the VAs did, I'm grateful. Celebrating Robotech for its new incarnation and what I wishes to be in the future??? Pass I'm gonna celebrate tonight by playing poker with some guys from Macrossworld, and seeing some of the cool toys that I just got, like the VF-27 Lucifer.
  21. I learned of Macross from a few friends who are Japanese, and had parents that often visited Japan. When going to their houses, they had all kinds of books with Macross characters, the Valkyries, and even some toys I believe. So they would tell me the story, and it sounded so awesome. When Robotech aired, it was like "OK this sounds like what my friend said, but it's not the same names. That's how I kinda figured it out, at 10yrs old. Um, no, not really, didn't even know there was one. Reunion shows and revival shows are more for the nostalgic, and I'm not much on nostalgia. Has it's place, but just a place, not a lifestyle, so unlike a lot of Robotech fans, the first 85 was good enough. I don't need to try to relive some hype that will not come back.
  22. Just got mine today as well. Sweet toy. I got no poster, but I'm ok with that. BTW, how big is the poster anyway, and anyone have a link of pic of it?
  23. Can't say I saw the Codename: Robotech thing. Like Gubaba, when I did see Robotech for the first time in 85, I had already known about Macross for sometime, so seeing it was already anticipated. I was kinda shocked when I did see SC and Mospeada after Macross Saga, cause it was pretty apparent that they didn't necessarily fit. Nevertheless, I was so happy that it was over here and in English. Plus, the introduction to two other series that I didn't know about was a big plus. When I was finally able to watch these 3 shows in their original form, it was a breath of fresh air, and really confirmed my interest in the original anime as it was intended. While 25 years is a good amount of time, I have this feeling that people are gonna take the 25 years as meaning that it validates Robotech moreso than before. Truth is obvious, just cause something is 25 years old, doesn't mean it makes it valid today, or mean that it necessarily needs to be revived.
  24. In all of that, what you have are 3 people who have this diluted idea that they're bringing the fandom together. Now, at one point in time, Memo was doing that. While we all planned to have gatherings and whatnot, Memo was there at the forefront to help do that. The problem is, somewhere along the line, he forgot that a lot of these people were good friends, so much as far as knowing his entire family, and all that. Then, somewhere in there, he had this idea that you either have to keep your friends, or devote your life to Robotech and dump those that don't wish to follow that lifestyle. During that time, that's when Memo stopped bringing fandom together, and decided on alienating fans and breaking the fandome apart. As far as little Dougie, that's just a guy who wants to be so much more that he is, but never will be. I've never heard someone so far off from reality and truth in my entire life, but nevertheless, he still believes all he says just cause it's on a minor podcast. I mean, geez, this guy still thinks I'm trying to "do something" in the Robotech community, as if I cared about starting a Robotech fan group/cult. You have these two guys that feed off of each other's crap like it's the only food source, and it's why you have so many backwards ideas coming from that region. And this all makes sense by this First couple sentences explains so much in the reason why things are going ass backward. Then,,,Politics??? JT may have dived into the ugliness of politics over an anime, but that's much different than pretending to be a f!@king mermaid, and swimming in it, like the others do.
  25. Ahhh, haven't been here in awhile. that's $2000 pesos, (j/k) $2000 USD. If I find some available for decent prices, I'll let you know. I haven't looked around lately, but I'm gonna seriously look around June.
