What have you taken, and where can I get some? The world is a whole new place!
-
I'm sure HG already sent him a C&D letter for using the term "Malcontent Uprising". And don't use any girl names like Lindsay. That has a trademark too. You don't want Ms. Lohan to sue you as well.
-
And the next time someone questions the size, just quote that..."It's 0.83 Macrosses, bitches!!!" Hahaha! That'll resolve the issue right away.
-
Yeah, I realize that, but it then goes back to the alphas having so much damn die cast. It doesn't serve any purpose in these, except weight, and it chips. In either case, it maybe a solution to one problem, but again, it brings the other problems (floppy legs, chipping, loss in posability). If they have a green one and F&S, I'll get one over there next weekend. That's the only one I'm missing.

OK, I know it's been awhile since anyone posted here, but has there been any news on the Orguss Toy mentioned earlier? I really want that toy. And if no variants, I want to get 3 to customize for the others.
-
Good buy. The beta is Toynami's only produced transforming toy that seems sturdy and well built, although, I must say that I can't stand the brick legs. What's the point of having so much die cast? It did make the legs super floppy. That's my only gripe with it. Other than that, it's a nice toy.

Thus, the reason I posted this: I do see how it could be taken as just attempting to cause trouble. I guess the more directly involved, the more offense one would take. Background does play into it too. And that would help form the opinion. Overall, Memo hasn't resorted to lil Dougie's bitching, whining, and direct flame baiting, but I guess it's just a quick hop to get there. Anyways, onto other news, did the length of the SDF-1 get resolved. The 0.83 is great, but in what measuring system? I know on my T.V., .83 seems to be in feet. On my ipod, it's in CM. Ah, heck, that about sums it up (like I really care).

Ask for what? If you're referring to the DVD case art and all, nothing. Once it's done, I'll post them up here for people to download. If you're talking about the 8 DVD holding cases, they're about $2 each. For the DVDs, It depends on how much the materials cost. I have a complete set in Single layer and Dual layer. The DL DVDs are more, and I was buying the DLs when they were on sale. Unfortunately the store decided to take the sale down, and they are now an extra $10 more. For those, it's just cost of materials and shipping. If anyone wants to throw in extra for the time it takes to do these, I'm cool with that too. I sent out the last of all the DVDs owed, so, if anymore, just inquire via pm.

We're gonna meet at Curry House in Weller court 2nd level at Noon. Address is 123 Astronaut E S Onizuka St, #204, Los Angeles, CA. There is a parking entrance for Weller court on 2nd/Los Angeles, or you can park right across the street which is outdoor, but is a bit cheaper. Anyways, that'll give us all time to show up, eat, talk, hang out, "show and tell" LOL, and relax after the drive. Then there's Kinokuniya, and the 2 Anime Jungle Locations. Bee's opened up his house to us afterward around 4p.m. or so, so I'll leave him to put up the address however he wants. He's got a nice collection too. Should be a fun day.

Still cordial, though. Even with gross misinformation and bad knowledge base, he doesn't cause trouble here. That is, unless you count the people who get worked up over the backassward ideas over the licensing issue, and things like that. Politics aside, he hasn't come in here necessarily to flame bait the thread, but that's a thin line. Some may think differently.

Yeah, my wife is a senior graphics designer, and said she'd put it together (disc covers), but I just need some good art to give to her. My library is completely gone in a computer crash, so what I have so far is kinda sad. I have the LD covers, but the resolution isn't that great, and the fact that they're scans makes the pics gritty.

So far, we have 9 going to the meet up. Anyone who is lurking, and hasn't posted, you can send me a pm, or post here. I want to make sure that when we meet for the lunch, that we aren't short table settings.
-
That's true, it's kinda hard to pick one over the other. 2 hour movie vs. a tv show. Love DYRL, but the depth of the story for SDF:Macross takes the cake. Gotta go w/ tv series.
-
With short responses, I'm sure we can accomodate that. Let's get it to like 500 pages.
-
This thread does come with it's two-sided blade in that sense. While it does attract the flame baiters (notice "flame baiters" and not people who can argue the point without alterior motive), this site also keeps it isolated. Poor lil Frank Woodford Jr. (dougie bendie) still lives in the dreamworld in that his "civil trolling" here shut the whole site down. Memo's more than cordial here, so he's more than welcome here. Anyways, I digress... This thread has multiple purposes, all of which isolate the Robotech stuff here as much as possible, and makes it much easier for the site to run smooth.
-
To answer your question, Memo and Maverick didn't plan this, they wouldn't have the clout to pull this off, unless they had help of HG staff. So far, it appears HG is only doing the convention tour, and Memo hasn't announced his AX/25yr shindig.
-
Just reserved two copies from Kinokuniya Los Angeles. I'm good to go.
-
It's celebrating the original version of Robotech, not Robotech now, so they don't have current staff scheduled to attend. Also, if it was possible to have original Japanese creators attend, it would've been done. Paying for them to fly out, and all that is quite expensive, as I'm sure you're aware of, and would probably put the cost of the event out of most people's reach. As for comic artists, and novel authors, I don't know. HG isn't running this event, so this isn't supporting the franchise in terms of supporting the company monetarily. This is just a celebration with staff and VAs that worked on it back in 84-85. There's nothing political about it.
-
Wasn't that cancelled anyways? I heard the last Beta did too poorly in sales, and they aren't going to put that one out. Time will tell.
-
While this is a "debate thread" there is one good thing I'd like to point out that is going on for the 25th anniversary. http://www.rt25celebration.com/ This appears to be a very promising even filled with lots of fun events. I encourage anyone who's a Robotech fan, and has an interest in attending to make the trip. I plan to be at this event. Seems to be a truly one time event, and not to be missed. P.S. I have more info if you're interested. It's not my event, but I can answer any questions you may have.

My wife married me with my semi large collection at the time, and she's a fan of this stuff already, so that helps, and as long as bills are paid and I'm still putting money away, it's all gravy.
-
There is, but I can't talk about that right now. Does that sound almost like Kevin? If there is something official/semi official, I'll probably go. Aside from a few asshats, there are some really good Robotech fans who appreciate both sides of the fence. It would be interesting to see what rtx puts together. I'm thinking more likely it'll be a BBQ type thing, like they did for the launch party last year. That was fun, but wasn't anything official, or anything with substance, except for Michael Bradley performing. That was the highlight, and worth the time.

What makes the intentions of the REF goofy, is that they are willing to destroy earth, and the people who live there, for what? It makes sense if the REF wanted to have a small human population and live on uninhabitable worlds and on ships, but what sense would that make? Anyways, thanks Seto for clarifying the details of that info. By that explanation, it would indeed seem that the Regis was correct in assuming that humans were following the "children of the shadow", LOL.
-
But at least you understand the difference between setting up a military colony on the moon, and sending over a million people to a habitable planet to grow and preserve the race and to make that planet a new home. Perhaps that difference is too complicated for some.
-
Since I've had some free time after work, I figured I'd listen to various podcasts. Now that I'm caught up on the he said she said, I noticed lil dougie making the world colonization compared to Robotech argument. Apparently, his understanding is that a base on the moon, and a base on Marse constitutes colonizing a world in the true sense of colonizing. Scott Bernard's quote about the landscape "being as vast as Venus", while they'd all be dead on the planet, to him, seems to indicate that the Robotech universe is colonizing worlds. Am I wrong in thinking that setting up military outposts and bases on moons and uninhabitable m-class planets is not the same as finding a new self sustaining planet as home? Somehow, I couldn't help but chuckle at the idiot, and thought I'd clear that up for him, since he probably needs help in understanding a few things. Colonizing and setting up military outposts are not the same thing. Anybody who would've gone into the atmosphere of Venus, would probably die within minutes at least, from the intense heat and gas. If he would've looked up M class planets, he would've seen a Star Trek reference there, but a planet that more or less can sustain human life. Again, still supports pretty much what I said before back on page 46 Edited for spelling.
