  1. I know this has been talked about before. One suggestion would be fiber optics. The light travels through the path of the wire and doesn't spread like an led. I haven't worked with them, so I'm not too keen on what exactly you'd need, but a simple power source, and a decent track to put the fibers. The light should be brightest at the end of the line.
  2. It's a great book even if just for reference material and the sort, but the lineart can be somewhat small. Still, I think just about everyone bought something at Kinokuniya. That was fun, showing up in full force.
  3. Yeah, it was that show, at least I think so. I've been to quite a few of them, so it gets hard to remember them. As for my band, it's mostly cover songs, some 80s, some punk stuff, like Rancid, some AFI, but mostly we take 80s songs like the Cure, INXS, stuff like that, and punk it up a bit. My older bands from several years ago, we used to play places like Viper Room, the Gig, Troubador, Martini Lounge, the Key Club. We were busy. I'd do it again if I could get guys close enough to practice on regular basis. It takes a crapload of work to just get "decent"
  4. Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for coming out, and spending the day with the group. It was a great time getting to see some of the faces to the handles here, and to just relax and share a couple pitchers of biru with everyone. Thanks to everyone for bringing stuff, and sharing cool stuff, and thanks to Maiden Japan for bringing the item for us to look at. Definitely a great time with some great people. We'll have to do it again more often. I only tood one pic, and will put it up tomorrow when I get home from work. Deculcha!!!
  5. Exactly, PRK!!! Good times, and always a great time. I sing in my own band as well, as well as play guitar, so I've played at places such as this before. This was back several years ago, just waiting for it to come around again.
  6. That could happen, but if someone asked in the midst of other MW members, what would that show the community? Not necessarily the best thing to do either. The joys of letting an issue build up.
  7. That is probably not the place to really get an idea. To get an idea of someone, you should probably try to get all aspects and info you can. At MW, I know he avoided the usual propaganda. Perhaps one day, he'll show up at a MW con and someone will ask about the licensing issue, in a way that can't be skirted and misdirected like it has been for so long? We'll see.
  8. Thank you Graham, for sending these so fast. Also, thank Yamato for helping out the Macross fans here. Please let me know if you do get more of the DYRL off white ones. Thanks.
  9. A pic of some of the decals I'm working on (more like tweaking a bit). I've changed the color with this hi-res scan, then proceeded to blow it up a bit (approx 12%). The honeycomb graphix seem to benefit best from this. Originally I wanted to do a lighter purple, but the Tamiya Purple would make it contrast a bit too much, so in the end, I darkened them up a bit. Anyways, here they are. Update, I'm not using the Minmay decals, at least not yet. They will be in the next Moon Guard version.
  10. c'mon, at $14/hr, do you think Kevin McKeever is really high rolling in a posh office?
  11. Here's the addition to the right chest plate. I like it so far, but the heat shield may make it look too busy, so I might do something different with it. Anyways, here it is with little bit of weathering.
  12. yeah, I have one of the Sheryl RC cars, and the graphics are nice. I have two sets of different Sheryl decals, and a crapload of others from years of collecting. I'm thinking maybe I should paint the heatshield the purple color, then put the decal on.
  13. Truer than true. One of the things Steve and co. got their panties all twisted in was a comment I made about the RTSC poster. I had said something more to the fact of "Who made that poster? It's pretty bad" or something like that. Anyways, not knowing really if it came from an outside graphics design co. or from the staff, I found out it came from Tommy. However, the funny part was when Steve accused me of "attacking the staff", for criticizing a damn poster. As we discussed it over and over, he then asked me how I would feel if someone said that my Valkyrie customs sucked?...My response, "If someone said they suck then I wouldn't get bent out of shape about it. Usually since I do the best work I possibly can, it shows in my work. They wouldn't say that because it is good work." I think he got even more bent out of shape when I told him that, cause there was no response to that and other questions I posed. Kinda proved my point though, when you just throw crap out there, and it's half-assed, don't expect everyone to join in on your smelling flower parade. If it sucks, you're gonna know. But, in coming full circle, yes, criticism, even blunt but true, is taken way to the extreme by them. Like I've said, they've been in a defensive mode for so long, they don't know how to interact with the fans normally now. Every question is answered with either a lie (when there needn't be one), or they skirt the answer altogether.
  14. Does that mean you're done with your fanfic? I never got to read it, but it sounded interesting enough.
  15. here's a quick pic from my small handheld.
  16. OK, I have all the decals I need, and have two of the all white Yamato VF-1S toys. Today, I decided "No more waiting around", and started dismantling the thing. It's much different from the 1/55s, which was the last custom I did, so there you have it. Anyways, I'm thinking of doing it like a cross between the Minmay Paris and Moon versions, except the colors are gonna be purple, white, and maybe a dark grey. I've taken the Moon guard decals, and have been color changing them to the purple/light purple I want to do it in. I don't have any pics yet, but all I have done so far is try out the heat shield with one of the chibi Sheryl decals. Fits perfectly. For panel lines, I've got a great mechanical pencil I use. I've found that once you put the dull coat over the penciled panel lines, they darken quite a bit. Anyways, with that, I'll be doing the WIP, slowly here, and over some time. Taking some ideas if anybody has some as well.
  17. The more Sheryl, the better!!!
  18. I'm curious, cause while some seem hell bent on getting HG's pr to admit the truth, some have some sort of in between view. What's interesting is that the unspoken truth that Kevin and staff really hate to bring up is that there are more and more fans showing a frustration and disinterest in the franchise. Yes, while the fact they still talk does show some interest or attention, it doesn't show it in any positive manner.
  19. Sounds like a certain podcaster. Not much seperates them. For some reason, that reminds me, wasn't Memo planning an AX 2010 Robotech celebration, or fan gathering? I thought the big announcement was on the 15th, or did I miss something?
  20. Hey guys, we're doing something similar in J-town in downtown L.A. on the 20th, if you can take some pics of the festivities. We'll probably do the same (at least I will) This will be a joint effort it seems, Macross is raiding the J-towns. Hahaha.
  21. In dedication to this thread, I posted up a new avatar pic of me singing at Troubador with one of the guitarist from Bad Religion in the background. To the left (that isn't in the picture is the guitarist from NOFX. I think that gives you an idea of the general music I am into.
  22. So, was Pizza perma-banned over here? If not, I can only hope he has learned the art of tact, and respect for a board. Anyways, Seto, you brought up some other guy on the production forum. I noticed there are a few of them. Ahchu, and the guy FranktechB. Do you know their positions on all of the debate? I don't read much over there, so I don't know if these guys post a lot or not.
  23. Well, he's now getting the medicine he dished out to many people. I think I got accused of having multiple accounts over there by Pizza, when clearly, it was just some other guy asking the same "why aren't things happening at all" question. Those damn Macross Purists. Now, everyone that gets banned will probably be Pizza, who knows. It may be him only 5% of the time.
  24. Yeah, what he said. I have friends who bought it, and when I listened to it, it was quite the earsore. Not that they can't sing and whatnot, it just sounds forced, and doesn't rock like it should. Best to listen in the original versions. I don't feel Bomba listening to the english version.
  25. I think we're gonna meet at noon for lunch at Curry house. I think I gave the address, but for those that don't have it, it's Curry House 123 Astronaut E S Onizuka St, #204, Los Angeles, CA 2nd level inside Weller Court, noon, for some Deculture
