Silly Rabbit, HG politics is for kids!
-
And stupid actions like this, wether known by all or not, will always keep Robotech on a slow slide downhill. There really isn't a growing fanbase, so they should be kissing the ass of what fans are left. Maybe they'll catch on eventually after about 5 years of "we're working on something, but we can't say anything." Again, I'll stress, this is why I'm so glad Macross isn't in their hands here. I'd rather pay a little extra for all the Macross goods. Consider that a "non-tainted tax".

I'd like to see them start sending C&D orders to people who do custom toys because they're better than their precious MPCs. I'd like to get one of their C&D letters for that. I'd wipe my @$$ with it and leave it on their front step. What Nenad should do is simply get his stuff that isn't HG's back then take the art that is RT related and put it on every site he can, so that all of us can daily post pics of it up everywhere. It'd definitely give them at HG something to do other than twiddle their thumbs and find ways to screw their fandom. It's reasons like this that remind me of why I should be ever so thankful that BW didn't cave into HGs way of bringing Macross over. After the celebration and all the hoopla is done, HG needs to just end the RT thing. It is painfully obvious that they don't want intelligent fans. And regarding Memo's statement on rtx.com...WTF? See, that's why it's best to just not say anything. Nenad is trying to say what is going on, and HG's closest official spokesperson is talking about why this all happened without having a clue of what the issue is. Sighup, I don't know what to tell you about your site. It won't go down, as all the artwork that's on there is all Tommy's art. As it's stroked the ego, you're in the clear. As much as that news wants to get me pissed, I can't really get upset at it anymore. If you are a RT fan, and pissed though, don't get mad, get even. If they're gonna kick their fans in the groin over and over, the fans need to return the favor. Edit: Another point I wanted to make was this...since what was taken down was fan art (talking about the RT stuff), Nenad should fight that tooth and nail. The non RT stuff goes without question.

Adrian's Custom Destroid Defender "Pain Killa" . . .
Jasonc replied to miriya's topic in The Workshop!
That's an interesting paint scheme indeed. My compliments for a great custom paint job. -
Mmmmm, pencil board. Can't wait for my copies.

That con must really be hurting then. What I've been curious to know is if HG is planning on renewing the license with Tatsunoko? With the popularity of the Macross series, I wonder if Tatsunoko is charging a higher premium for SDF:Macross, even though it's 28 years old? I also wonder if the cost of retaining the license to Macross is still generating enough profit for HG to keep it going? Are they trying that desperately to get rid of Macross? If so, I wonder if they'll in fact, renew the license whenever that comes up. I dunno, just virtually thinking out loud.

Thought of it, and if I do the decals, they'd probably need to be on a more user friendly decal paper. I may put the decals up for sale, but some of them do need to be sized a tad better. Some need stretching, others fit great. I just might make decals for those asking. But, it'll be after this project is done.

Thanks, got one wing done today, and it looks good with the light blue. It will have the Galaxy logo on it, not the kite symbol. Haven't decided what I want to do with the tail fins yet. Hopefully, I'll get pics of the wings tomorrow.
-
OK, here are the updates. First one is the added decal of the famous tread, done in a purple. Then is the "revised" Heat shield, then 3 of the 4 legs, as the 4th doesn't really have any special markings. Anyways, feedback is welcome.
-
I didn't realize how much work was involved in the decal making and customizing them process, but I have managed to get most of them to fit properly. Tomorrow I will have pics of all the lower leg pieces that I did over today, and of the updated heat shield work. I started tapering the wings and should have those done by tomorrow as well. Lots of pics will be here tomorrow. The colors are light blue and purple, and so far, it's coming out nice. Aside from the decals, it's a very conservative custom, but one that will make it unique enough.

Giving your control panel display and lighting
Jasonc replied to leading edge's topic in The Workshop!
I know this has been talked about before. One suggestion would be fiber optics. The light travels through the path of the wire and doesn't spread like an led. I haven't worked with them, so I'm not too keen on what exactly you'd need, but a simple power source, and a decent track to put the fibers. The light should be brightest at the end of the line. -
It's a great book even if just for reference material and the sort, but the lineart can be somewhat small. Still, I think just about everyone bought something at Kinokuniya. That was fun, showing up in full force.

Yeah, it was that show, at least I think so. I've been to quite a few of them, so it gets hard to remember them. As for my band, it's mostly cover songs, some 80s, some punk stuff, like Rancid, some AFI, but mostly we take 80s songs like the Cure, INXS, stuff like that, and punk it up a bit. My older bands from several years ago, we used to play places like Viper Room, the Gig, Troubador, Martini Lounge, the Key Club. We were busy. I'd do it again if I could get guys close enough to practice on regular basis. It takes a crapload of work to just get "decent"

Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for coming out, and spending the day with the group. It was a great time getting to see some of the faces to the handles here, and to just relax and share a couple pitchers of biru with everyone. Thanks to everyone for bringing stuff, and sharing cool stuff, and thanks to Maiden Japan for bringing the item for us to look at. Definitely a great time with some great people. We'll have to do it again more often. I only tood one pic, and will put it up tomorrow when I get home from work. Deculcha!!!
-
Exactly, PRK!!! Good times, and always a great time. I sing in my own band as well, as well as play guitar, so I've played at places such as this before. This was back several years ago, just waiting for it to come around again.

That could happen, but if someone asked in the midst of other MW members, what would that show the community? Not necessarily the best thing to do either. The joys of letting an issue build up.
-
That is probably not the place to really get an idea. To get an idea of someone, you should probably try to get all aspects and info you can. At MW, I know he avoided the usual propaganda. Perhaps one day, he'll show up at a MW con and someone will ask about the licensing issue, in a way that can't be skirted and misdirected like it has been for so long? We'll see.

Thank you Graham, for sending these so fast. Also, thank Yamato for helping out the Macross fans here. Please let me know if you do get more of the DYRL off white ones. Thanks.

A pic of some of the decals I'm working on (more like tweaking a bit). I've changed the color with this hi-res scan, then proceeded to blow it up a bit (approx 12%). The honeycomb graphix seem to benefit best from this. Originally I wanted to do a lighter purple, but the Tamiya Purple would make it contrast a bit too much, so in the end, I darkened them up a bit. Anyways, here they are. Update, I'm not using the Minmay decals, at least not yet. They will be in the next Moon Guard version.

c'mon, at $14/hr, do you think Kevin McKeever is really high rolling in a posh office?
-
Here's the addition to the right chest plate. I like it so far, but the heat shield may make it look too busy, so I might do something different with it. Anyways, here it is with little bit of weathering.
-
yeah, I have one of the Sheryl RC cars, and the graphics are nice. I have two sets of different Sheryl decals, and a crapload of others from years of collecting. I'm thinking maybe I should paint the heatshield the purple color, then put the decal on.

Truer than true. One of the things Steve and co. got their panties all twisted in was a comment I made about the RTSC poster. I had said something more to the fact of "Who made that poster? It's pretty bad" or something like that. Anyways, not knowing really if it came from an outside graphics design co. or from the staff, I found out it came from Tommy. However, the funny part was when Steve accused me of "attacking the staff", for criticizing a damn poster. As we discussed it over and over, he then asked me how I would feel if someone said that my Valkyrie customs sucked?...My response, "If someone said they suck then I wouldn't get bent out of shape about it. Usually since I do the best work I possibly can, it shows in my work. They wouldn't say that because it is good work." I think he got even more bent out of shape when I told him that, cause there was no response to that and other questions I posed. Kinda proved my point though, when you just throw crap out there, and it's half-assed, don't expect everyone to join in on your smelling flower parade. If it sucks, you're gonna know. But, in coming full circle, yes, criticism, even blunt but true, is taken way to the extreme by them. Like I've said, they've been in a defensive mode for so long, they don't know how to interact with the fans normally now. Every question is answered with either a lie (when there needn't be one), or they skirt the answer altogether.

Does that mean you're done with your fanfic? I never got to read it, but it sounded interesting enough.
