If those are on Sat. as well, I'll be in for seeing them. I don't know how many days I'm going, but I'm gonna at least try for two days.

I think most of people's accounts of subjective matter changes over time. I've heard things from "Carl wasn't happy with the screenings", to, "he did like the result, but the film was unplugged anyways", and everything in between. I've also heard that he had a vision of the movie that was supposed to be different than what it ended up being. From what the story is, Carl wanted it to be footage of Megazone 23 only, and not spliced with Southern Cross. I don't think his close associates were putting just positive spin on his life. It was because of Robotech, that a lot of those VA's still work in the industry and get to do what they love. I'm sure we can all argue over Carl's actions and comments on Robotech and all that all day, but his positives in my opinion outweigh the criticisms he's had.

Most don't know, or even care for him. The only ones who do actually listen are mostly listening because it's so absurdly stupid. The few that actually do follow his words and advice are the few inept individuals who are too whacked out to think anything of sense.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition

This guy with the camrip seems like a pretty dumb prick with his whiny attitude. At the same time, the people who "need" the stupid camrip feed that attitude. Not much you can do there. -
Yeah, twice. I have two of the Milia, and one of the Max. You could say I did my part. Then again, do you really classify this as a "bad guy" toy? She's not really known as one of the enemy, kinda like a hybrid. Getting a Regult, there's no question about that. It's the bad guy (hahaha, almost spelled bad buy, but that wouldn't be right)

Some of what you say is true here. Take a look at the AK-47 vs. the M-16. While the AK-47 has a larger round, it's slower, and the effective range is not as far as the M-16. I'm quite sure that any logical person would realize that military progression moves forward, not backward. There's so many things that could've caused for the calibur of the rounds to be smaller. 1) Higher velocity, more destructive rounds. 2)Higher technologically advanced rounds (Uranium tipped, High explosive, etc). I only listened to the first ccouple minutes or so, and realized that it's gonna be just another bitchfest of how Robotech is so much better. The argument is based on his hatred for all of Macrossworld, not any real, hard knowledge. Here's the same moron that believes that everyone here is cool with child pornography, without even knowing what he's talking about, or even listening to the truth. It's not worth my time, nor do I care for idiots of the sort, but that's just how their group thinks. Their only as good as the information they feed off of each other, and that explains all the pathetic behavior right there.

So, I guess my Matchbox Battlepod will still hold that spot. Also, Toynami's vinyl pods are quite nice. I have no problems holding out till a 1/60 toy comes. And, if it doesn't, Yamato's loss, as this seems to be the one thing that many would buy.

Probably why I said it was an original take on the originals, and not original. I understand you can't call something completely original if you're already rehashing someone else's characters and designs. And while Sentinels did seem Star Trek like in many ways, it was still putting all those things that weren't original, in an original-esque storyline.
-
And here I posted that I would buy a couple of those Regults. I'll be buying zero now. Web exclusives suck, and while it still looks very nice, for that price, I have no problem declining that purchase. Now, the soldier maybe different. Perhaps I'll get one.

That's the problem that plagues shadow Chronicles in my opinion. I could see people making an argument if the story wasn't good, but was absolute eye candy and had the cinematography and designs to make it jaw dropping. It'd have at least something of some worth. On the flip side, I would've been totally cool with it, had it not had the greatest CG, but had a story that could captivate me, the masses, etc. The problem, is that it failed on both accounts, and is generally supported by fanboys, and people who are looking for some nostalgia, or people who don't care enough. I've seen enough anime to believe that while visuals are crucial, the story is still most important. I've seen some shows that aren't clean, crisp, and all that, but they are some of the best shows because of a great story. While The Sentinels was one of those failures that never made it off the ground for Macek, it definitely had an original take on combining the originals. Yeah, there were some aspects of it that were just horrible, but overall, it was probably one of those series I definitely would've been interested in seeing. As for Macek's other Robotech vision "Robotech:The Untold Story", that seemed more like a quick money making attempt at simply splicing two series together. Oddly enough, I find that mildly better than RTSC. As far as the main reaction of the first screenings of Shadow Chronicles, I think it was well. Even when I first saw it at HG's screening, it was alright. I'm aware of some fans that were very excited to see it during the screenings. The problem, is that after the initial viewing, it started to sink in, all the flaws that were pretty inherent in the film. A lot of those same people that were there for the screenings, after getting it on DVD, started to take it apart bit by bit. Kinda like Star Wars ep. I, just on a much smaller level. Then again, it was Robotech fans who were watching this in the theater, so when around other Robotech fans, I think you may be hard up to find anyone that would criticize it from the get go.

Interesting, indeed. I'd like to see it when pics are available. Either way, it's pretty cool news.

Awesome pic indeed. Love the Kineda vs. Stick. If only the scales were similar. -
That's too bad that none of video game characters have really been explored. It'd be nice if they at least came out with a CD of the extra stuff that didn't make the actual issues.

Luckily, I haven't had any issues with my YF-19, and thus far, it isn't a floppy mess. That said, I've been quite lucky with my Yamato purchases. Issues I've had with any have been able to be fixed.

They couldn't even use the word Zentraedi in Shadow Chronicles, at least they didn't out of concern of lawsuit. Whether they can or can't use the terms, it seems like they abandoned the usage of anything Zentraedi. In anycase, your idea would work, but as finicky as Robotech hans can be, I think there'd still be two sides of the camp. One side that thinks it's great, the other that gets upset that they did the disconnect from the originals. As what I'm gathering based on RTSC's conclusion, Shadow Rising will still go on with the same story. It's all in delivery.

The first VF-1s I was collecting was the Bandai chunky monkey reissues. I kept them for a long time. When the v.1 1/60s came out, I only bought one, and sold it for as much as I bought it for 2 months later. Just couldn't justify spending so much for a removable leg transformation. When the 1/48s came out, I couldn't justify spending $150, then $50 for shipping. So I only got 3 of them, and sold all 3 for as much as I paid for them. When the v.2 1/60s came out, it had the same quality transformation as the 1/48s and the scale that I like. When those came out, I sold the chunkies, and haven't looked back. I never really had buyer's remorse, except for when Yamato releases an upgraded unit, like the 1/72 YF-19 vs. the 1/60 YF-19. Luckily though, I've been able to liquidate the older ones before they completely lost all value. It's a hard thing to figure out what is going to be the definitive toy, especially when we've had 3+ incarnations of the same valk. At least it seems the quality is good enough and the scales seem to be relegated to 1/60 and 1/100 now. Hopefully that keeps the buyer's remorse lower.

I don't know of too many Robotech fans that would be too accepting of "adding" additional anime titles into Robotech. What I do find odd in saying that, is that I see questions like "Is Macross Zero gonna be Robotech Zero" or "Macross Plus would make a great Robotech side story". For some reason, some RT fans think it's only acceptable if Macross series are added. I know not all of them think like that, but the only time I hear RT fans being acceptable of adding shows seems to be with Macross. And yes, it does seem ironic that many want Robotech to stand on its own, but at the same time, can't get past the story that was left from Macross characters. As much as I've heard some complain about Robotech being too Macross driven and whatnot, the base plot of Robotech has been that since it was first aired. If it strayed from that story of Rick Hunter, I don't think the franchise would be able to survive. It's kinda sad, cause it'd be nice if it could stand on its own and not have to rely on Macross, Southern Cross, or Mospeada designs. Tommy's design of his Gamma Fighter was pretty good. It could've been a good transition, and a way to start moving in that direction. Then again, you'd still have to resolve the Rick Hunter plot, and move on from that as well, something they don't seem to want to settle, out of fear of losing the fans who have that attachment. Just speculation.

QFT!!! I'm a fan of the Sheryl character as well, however, I find it quite funny when people get hot an bothered over a drawn lines and color that represent people. It's actually quite hilarious, but to each their own. -
You're right, it is kinda a broad statement. And that's not even really a bad thing. If it's just one specific thing that they like, or only know of Robotech, one can't fault that preference. Also, perhaps I shouldn't generalize it so much, as there are probably more that actually do like anime in general. It's a simple observation though, and it still holds true from my observations. For example, I have one friend who's one of the old school Robotech fans. What he knows of anime is Macross (outside of SDF macross), Gundam, Evangelion, and Full Metal Panic, as well as things like Votoms and that sort. Again, it's not a bad thing, but that's his preference. His introduction to "anime" was Robotech, so he gravitates to stuff that is similar in that fashion. Outside of that genre, he doesn't know much. There are many that I know that have similar likes based on similar backgrounds. I don't see a lot of Robotech fans making the leap to various other anime titles outside of the Robot/mecha action titles. There's probably many reasons why, but I'd probably chalk most of it up to just being used to or comfortable with that one genre, and not being knowledgable about what else is out there that is actually any good. There is, a lot of anime that many would find simply garbage, or not to there liking.

I think those details are being worked out, but I'd say that if you can make it, that'd be awesome. I think this year will be quite fun, and should be full of Macross goodness.

you're missing out on those great 1/4 lb. big bites with the chili cheese, and some chili cheese fritos. I still have a VHS copy of the English version. However, it has a VHS cover that says Macross, and is the full version of the movie.

Whoa!!! sounds like you're a busy person there. I did one custom so far, but have one unpainted v.2 and two unassembled v.2. I'm using one of the unassebled ones as a VE "platypus", and the other will probably be a version of the Stampede Valk. The other unpainted version I have will be a Minmay Guard paint scheme. Decals are being worked on at this point, so once that's completed, I'll be organizing those and start the process over again. Perhaps there should be a V.2 1/60 Yamato valk thread. Again, congrats, and can't wait to see your next customs.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0
Jasonc replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I've been watching Monster, as well as just finished Gankutsuo, and about to start Aquarion. I haven't heard much about Aquarion, just know that Kawamorisan did the designs for the mecha. As far as "Those Who Hunt Elves" that's a great anime for some good laughs. I enjoyed that series.
